I really don’t understand all this hype surrounding Mr Hudson. What’s the big deal???

As for this track….  Jay this track is drier then a homeless person’s foot bottom, but it will be a massive hit here in the UK ”cos it’s HOV and Mr Hudson – innit!”

Hi all, Yeah, It’s been a while since my last post(…mehn, writing personal journals can be a tough discipline to instantly perfect), but am here now!

I have some goodies for you my peeps- 2 NEW TRACKS! Two Sizzling Hip Hop Joints. I have been working on many more, but I feel these two deserve recognition (they are HoTT for sho). I hope you like them too.

One of them “Ooh Gurl” I wrote (or created, or whatever) on a saturday evening and was done by sunday morning. The vibe with that sample was just too right to let go of. It has this luvey dovey kinda aura around it (especially the hook)…I just had to give it that title “Ooh Baby.” My work flow was the same AGAIN- chopped the sample up…previewed it, browsed my drum-kit bank and got them kicks bumping (accordingly, LoL).

The other track (Drop out) is what I would refer to as a hardcore Gangsta tish track. It is so hard, I shut up and listen to it everytime I try to drop a cipher on it (yeah, I rap too…kidding)! It has some intense drum pattern characterised by some level of “non-quantization” -actually that’s where it gets the title from. The pattern is tight, but a bit off, every now and then (all for the rapper to figure out and fix).

I got the miroslav philharmonik on those horns (so soft they acted as pads), there is this key section that I did (mehn I must have been in a different thought vibration level)…they are so sweet (real talk).  Some synth (Nexus provided those) brought out that other “drones on yo’ ass kinda vibe). The percussion…hmmhhh..I honestly do not know what inspired me to compose those, but they played their “drop out” role pretty well! LoL.

I have to say, “Drop out” is my very first track that I have Eqd while well aware (or atleast with an idea) of what I was doing! And I am pretty impressed by it…no boomy bass, the muddiness is less (shout out to Future Producers dot com).

This track has been saved for The Mith (Uganda’s Finest), so it might not be available for general listenership until his Album drop sometime early next year. Unless, ofcourse, you are my FAN on http://reverbnation.com/kozneffekt.

Jay Electronica is hands down the illest underground rapper to get put on in over a decade. And yes, he is from Philadelphia, but I swear I’m not being a homer, Jay Elect is straight nasty. Team up underground rap royalty with a mainstream production sage like Just Blaze, and you have a Japanese bullet train, pure momentum, ain’t nothing going to slow it down, oh no, they got to keep it moving!

Ladies and gentleman, I present to the court, Exhibit C!

Firstly Before you howl “This ain’t new, we heard it months ago”  like a bunch of uncanny wolves, i would just like to say this song passed under the radar and i formerly apology to Mr Cocker himself for this cock up (Again the pun master strikes again). Despite Jarvis being a brit-pop legend and a song writing maestro he’s looking abit worse for wear. Alas he may look like a jigging homeless librarian but this song “Further Complications” is a real raw indie clanger. I’ve compiled my favourite things about this song and it’s video into a nice list.

The Video

• At 0.05 it looks like he has just been injected with some kind of  electrical based fluid.
• At 0.43 he jigs his shoulder psychedelically while looking into the unknown
• At 0.49  he preforms a classic Grandad dance, in which we see at family parties and such like.
• 1.19 He says “Go to a disco” of which he accompanies with a backwards hand jive while in some kind of yoga position.
• 1.58 He does the most obscure thing ive ever seen in a music video

As for the song

Well the clanging bass and guitar clash with the moaning voice of cocker and then a chorus that is worthy of a Pulp single. The foot stomping progressive beat and the spine tapping sharp gasps make this a real indie feat.

Jarvis Cocker – Future Complications — Score – 8/10

One of the most lively, adrenaline rushing, heart thumping pieces of live music i have ever seen. It was truely special. Leeds University Stylus on the 30th October 2009 was the venue, center floor was the moshpit location. James (Hadouken’s lead singer) at one point stopped the act to encourage some dude who was break dancing in the middle. It was good break dancing.
Firing out a complication of the finest undescibable genre’d tunes from the album ‘Music for an Accelerated Culture’ along side some quick paced new material from the forthcoming album ‘For the Masses’. Hadouken are one of my favorite bands and i was eager to see them live. It was an event with so much hype it could of ended poorly but it took a few minutes of music to get it going, some clever improvisations and song blending lead to a sweet hour long set. Sweat, jumping and a lost voice ater i’m waiting for the next tour to come around so i can go again. To top it off, here’s a music video from the band.

Overall: 9.6/10>

The majority of rap enthusiasts I converse with are under the impression that the era of ATL cocaine rap is done, kaput, finito. This genre would also include Lil Wayne for these purposes, considering he became famous by vicariously purporting the ATL steez, it’s only appropriate that his fate be sealed with those he co-opted. Personally I think that there isn’t enough logic to support the notion that Weezy & Jeezy are spent, in fact, the industry is still hurting and money talks, especially within the context of the global economic crisis. What does the money specifically do to keep these guys on life support? Well, just like a hospital, it keeps the power on and the medicine pumping, in the rap game that means beats, savage beats from the best producers. If production flows into the swimming pools of money that these rap heavyweights have, and they choose accordingly, they’ll be making radio music and mixtape classics for a while. First step, Jamaican born, T-Dot raised, Boi-1da, and that’s a damn good selection.

Vampire Weekend is one of my favourite bands.  I don’t think there’s anything they’ve done that I don’t like.  “Cousins” is the latest single release from their second album, Contra, due out in January 2010.  Have a listen and enjoy.  And for those of you who didn’t take advantage of the free download of Vampire Weekend’s “Horchata” recently, here it is too:

“Chase the Tear” (as in what you do to a piece of paper, not the liquid that comes out of your eyes) is a new single from the trio. The track was created for Amnesty International, and is available for download at a cost of .99 cents. All proceeds go toward Amnesty International’s human rights work.
