Thomas Dolby (1958) es un músico y productor ingles en activo desde principios de la década de los ochenta del siglo pasado cuando editó su primer elepé, hasta 2009 donde ha editado su último A Map of the Floating City. Además de editar sus propios álbumes Dolby colaboró en elepés de Def Leppard, Foreginer o Thomson Twins. Estos dos temas son de su cuarto disco de estudio editado en 1988. Hace un tiempo les había presentado esta banda Inglesa, que esta afincada en Londres, y en esos momentos apenas tenían un par de singles, pero ya estaban en proceso de grabación de su álbum debut, el cual ya a salido a la venta el pasado 19 de octubre, y se a llamado simplemente “The Brute Chorus”, el álbum a recibido muy buenas criticas por parte de la prensa, a mi personalmente su sonido todavía no me convence, o sea, me gusta, pero se me hace que no aportan nada  y sus canciones están casi en el limite de lo aburrido, así que lo voy a seguir escuchando a ver que pasa, mientras, prueben ustedes a ver que les parece…

Diesen Klassiker habe ich erst in diesem Jahr wirklich für mich entdeckt und ihn verdammt schnell lieb gewonnen. “Friday I’m in Love” von The Cure stammt aus dem Jahr 1992 und ist einer der schönsten Lovesongs, die je geschrieben wurden. ’nuff said!

Már az Intro Luke ordibálásával kezdődik. A pop-rock-ra és new wave-re hajazó angol banda 2005 folyamán alakult meg, és csak idén októberben jelent meg debütáló albumuk, We’re The Good Guys címmel. A videóikat az angol csatornák szívesen játsszák, és bár a hangzás olyan, mintha a 80-as években lennénk, mégis kihallani belőle a mai stílusokat. Nagyon is rámutatnak erre a Fresh Since ’88-al, és a Level On Up-pal. A Small Talk-kal és a Boredom-mal pedig már a 90-es éveket idézik fel, bár már közelítve a mához. Nekem tudtak újat mutatni, de lehet, egyedül vagyok ezzel az érzéssel. Pörgős album, az összes szám vidámságot áraszt, és azért ehhez kell lennie egy hangulatnak. Én ezt csak akkor hallgatom, mikor egyébként is elvagyok magamban, nem vagyok ideges, vagy mérges. Emiatt húzom le kicsit az értékelést, mert nekem nem igazán jön be, ha egy album csak egy adott hangulatban jó érzés hallgatni. Többet, róluk: myspace. 10/7,5

First of all, I have to say – this is my 100^th post since relocating to WordPress. It has been a great trip and I want to thank everyone who has visited. Last night’s show put my tune ID’ing skills to complete shame. Ed reminded us why he is the absolute master of obscure – the rare tunes just kept spinning, one after another. I am totally excited that Duran Duran are reissuing a 2-disc remastering of the album So Red the Rose by Arcadia!

It’s due in the United States and Europe in February 2010.

Arcadia, of course, was the brilliant side project formed in 1985 by Nick Rhodes, Simon Lebon and Roger Taylor while John Taylor and Andy Taylor were away in the Power Station.

The first disc contains the original nine tracks on the original album as well as seven bonus tracks! The bonus tracks come from the soundtrack for the movie Playing for Keeps as well as the extended singles of “Election Day,” “Goodbye Is Forever,” “The Promise” and “The Flame.”

The second disc has mixes of those four singles as well as “Rose Arcana” and “Say the Word.”

The package also contains a DVD, which has videos for “Election Day,” “The Promise,” “Goodbye Is Forever,” “The Flame,” and “Missing” as well as films on the making of them.

The Arcadia project issued some completely wonderful New Romantic songs. The band’s sole album long has suffered from being underrated even by music enthusiasts who recognize its value. I personally always felt Nick and Simon should have revisited music in the vein of Arcadia in the 1990s after the Duran Duran Wedding Album, when they became the only two original members of the band to carry on recording and performing.

All the same, this is great news and a worthy addition to the music collection.

The Bravery es una banda Estado Unidense que a ganado bastante fama por su 2 discos que tiene hasta el momentos,y por sus continuas peleas y discusiones con sus compatriotas The Killers, que cave destacar que tienen un sonido que siempre se ha dicho que son similares, ahora “The Bravery” luego de un descanso bastante largo a decidido lanzar su tercer álbum que tendrá de nombre “Stir The Blood” y saldrá a la venta el próximo 1 de diciembre, y según el cantante de la banda, si bien las letras tienen un toque mas oscuro su música sigue siendo bastante optimista, y por eso hoy les dejo el disco para que ustedes mismos, lo juzguen, a mi personalmente me parece que tienen un toque mas electrónico, y les queda muy bien, no son una maravilla pero, para pasar el tiempo, están muy bien…

Before Ocean Eyes album released on CD, Adam Young already introduced his creative brain results on myspace. It’s the first time for electronic music became so booming. After two independent unsigned albums on myspace, he presented his  major-label debut album, Ocean Eyes. Then “Fireflies” climbed to number one position on the US Singles Chart.  The unique fact is he started all his success by  insomniac reason!

Cozy, light, easy listening, and cheerful. Those four words was coming to my mind when i listened to Adam Young’s songs or well known as Owl City, his hometown in Minesotta, US. From all tracks,  i love to hear Hot Air Balloon at all times! writing, crooning, and smiling..

I thought his track could balance ur mind and ur mood when ur work are getting harder and u couldn’t compromise with the so called pretty-swamped-head. Get ur earphone and set Owl City’s to the song list! It perhaps a bit monotonous if u put it all in a row. But chek out the lyrics, Adam Young will bring u around the world full of imagination!

Y siguiendo con los segundos discos de bandas Irlandesas (que realmente me tienen fascinado con la calidad de ellas), hoy me encontré con este disco “Tony Was An Ex-Con” justo después de encontrar el segundo de Delorentos, y justamente, este disco que encontré es el segundo disco de The Coronas, amigos de bandas como delorentos, director, the flaws, y varias mas provenientes de Irlanda y en especial de Dublim, y ya hablando un poco mas de lo musical, este álbum ya salio a la venta el 25 de septiembre pasado (e increíblemente no me había dado cuenta a pesar de revisar su myspace bastante seguido) y continua en la misma linea de su álbum debut “Heroes Or Ghosts” con el cual ganaron mucha fama con temas como “San Diego Song”, ahora lanzaron este que me parece que incluso supera la calidad de su debut, sigue ganándose la alabación de la critica, y recibiendo varias nominaciones a distintos premios, así que espero que lo disfruten tanto como yo…

Este disco supuesta mente salio a la venta hace ya mas de un mes, ya que salio el 9 de octubre, pero recién ahora, después de tanta busqueda lo e encontrado, les podría decir que es en exclusiva del blog, pero eso no es lo que me importa, lo que me importa es que puedan disfrutar de este disco, que la verdad, esta muy bueno, manteniendo la linea de su debut, y arrasando con las criticas en Irlanda y en toda Europa, disfruten de “You Can Make Sound” el segundo álbum de delorentos, de lo mejor del año…

DELORENTOS – YOU CAN MAKE SOUND(2009)

What the hell happened last night at the American Music Awards? When did they become the new shock-you-silly awards show to replace the now-vanilla MTV Video Music Awards?

The new recipe for an awards show is this:

*Taylor Swift wins everything; no fewer than five statues.
*Lady Gaga performs in a weird getup after arriving in a weird getup.
*Someone does something shocking, either Lady Gaga or a surprise…like an “American Idol” channeling old Bowie/Madonna stuff.
*All hip-hop performers keep it clean and classy.
*Janet Jackson shows no skin. Ever. Again. America still hasn’t healed from the nipplegate backlash, although after Adam Lambert last night, we’ve moved on to Crotchgate.

Speaking of Crotchgate…

I understand Adam Lambert’s need to distance himself from the squeaky clean-ness of “American Idol.”  But is that really a need? I also understand the need to do something to keep his name prominent in the headlines today–the day his album “For Your Entertainment” drops.  There’s no such thing as bad press, after all.  Even if you mash a male dancer’s face into your crotch, caress a female dancer’s crotch, and make out with your male keyboard player–all after playing the sadomasochist part with two dancers on leashes–you still get press.  I get it; you’re playing both sides of the fence, trying to court both female and male fans with bisexuality and a cheesy but androgynous album cover.

But shouldn’t it be about the music?

I’m a fan of both Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga.  After last night’s AMA performances from both, I am SMH today.  Both artists can stand on talent alone.  Both can sing, both have a flare for performing.  I’m all for outrageous when it fits.  But when it becomes about being outrageous for the sake of being outrageous, that’s when it gets lame.  Contrived.  Fake.  Silly.  Annoying.

Don’t play the tortured artist bit on stage.  Gaga had gigs writing songs for others before she got her “Fame” and Lambert was doing pretty good for himself acting alongside Val Kilmer in the stage show of “The Ten Commandments.”  While either one was hardly pulling in millions, both were working artists.  I think that’s always the goal, right?  Both could have still been serving meals during their first showbiz gigs for all I know.  But hey, a gig’s a gig.

Just go on stage and perform.  Just show me your talent and remind me why I’m a fan.  Even a simple performance can be captivating.  It doesn’t always have to be outlandish.  I thought Jennifer Lopez’s performance of “Louboutins” was great.  It was creative and she pulled it off, except for the fall…  If I even think about Louboutins I fall down, so I totally understand.

You want simple?  Captivating?  Something that stands on the strength of the music alone?  Try watching Lady Antebellum’s performance at the Country Music Awards.  Has “Need You Now” not been the top single on iTunes (or near the top) every day since?

Or, from the AMAs last night, how about Whitney Houston singing “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.”  That was amazing!  She was flawless.

Or Jay-Z and Alicia Keys who were just classy.

Look, I don’t need flames, crazy outfits, and controversy.  What I do want is music.  I’d love to have music with opulence.  Flash is OK, but just keep it in good taste.  We’re in a recession (duh).  People want less bullsh!t during a recession.  Flashiness and perky music isn’t popular during a recession.  Remember the 1990s?  It was a crap financial time that birthed Kurt Cobain and flannel shirts.  Remember the late 1990s as things turned around?  It was poppy, perky Britney Spears and N’Sync.  Glam rock?  New wave?  That was during the glory of the 1980s.  Artists should take a cue from the times we live in, maybe be inspired by…reality.

1. Sometimes singing a song very very fast will obscure the fact that most of the lyrics don’t make sense.

2. Johnnie Ray “sounded sad upon the radio” even if “he moved a million hearts in mono” because the chances of him getting laid are remote since his groupies are just “mothers (who) cried and sang along.”

3. You can “hum this tune forever” (Toora loora toora loo rye ay) but no one will understand what the fuck it means.

4.  Trying to convince a girl by telling her “we are young and far too clever” then asking her to “take off everything” only works with hookers.

5. Even Eileen would be smart enough to know that lines like “you mean everything” is pure horse shit to get girls in bed.

A quite good documantary about synth history in the UK w/ The Normal, Human League, Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Soft Cell, New Order. With rare footage and videos. Take a seat, drink some tea and dress your hair. It´s nearly 90 minutes! This is Part one:

Hoy les voy a hablar de Two Doors Cinema Club, banda que es proveniente de Irlanda del norte y ya se la había presentado aquí en mi humilde blog, el motivo por el que hoy hablo nuevamente de ellos es por que les veo mucho futuro, ya que seguramente son el nuevo hit en los blogs, ya que en casi todo aquel que se refiera a música (música de verdad) ya han hablado de ellos, y el otro motivo es que acaban de sacar un Ep mas, y el proximo mes de febrero se espera su álbum debut, y un poco hablando de música, se puede decir que se parece un tanto a Los Campesinos, y algo a foals, ya que tienen las melodias dulzonas de Los Campesinos, y los toques electrónicos de Foals, y por ultimo el frenetismo y la locura de las dos bandas, así que espero que a ustedes amigos, también le guste esta música, y les dejo el Ep llamado “I Can Talk” que justamente contiene el hitazo llamado así, disfrútenlo…
