Several hundred people rallied in the rain near Manhattan’s federal courthouse complex today to protest the plan to put major terrorism suspects on trial in New York City.

Demonstrators at the Saturday event included the actor Brian Dennehy and a number of people who lost friends and relatives in the 9/11 attacks.

Anger at the Obama administration ran hot in the crowd. One person held up a sign calling Attorney General Eric Holder “disgraceful and despicable.” Another sign said “Obama/Holder … Jihad from within.”

Opponents of the plan say that a New York trial could again make the city a terrorism target, and that the five suspects should instead face a military tribunal.

Even some of Hollywood showed up to voice their disgust with Eric Holder, including Brian Dennehy and Robert DeNiro!

Last year it was for skankin’ up Miami’s Art Basel (‘membah?) and this year it’s for giving Britney Spears a big ol’ bag of good reasons to stay sober.

According to York Post gossip column PageSix, raccooneyes and her close friend, designer Richie Rich are super busy and hard at work layin’ down tracks in the studio for their future flop pop single together.

The first track is called ‘High’ which is, of course, totally about her love of clothes.

“We are recording a pop single together,” says Richie. “Pam says she wants to sing, but nothing too difficult, so she’s just going to sing the word ‘high’ over and over.”

Uh huh … well, unless she’s also planning on performing this highhighhighhighhighhighhigh blah blah while climbing the Empire State Building naked on a Saturday afternoon in her trademarked Lucite hooker heels while dropping million dollar bills, new jobs and sunshine along the way, I foresee marketing probs.

Because no scandal is complete without another mind-numbing flashback to the Eliot Spitzer scandal, America’s favorite hooker Ashley Alexandra Dupre got drunk one night and texted a bunch of incoherent ramblings to the New York Post. Of course, since this is the stuff of dreams over at the Post, they’ve published a bunch of them as an opinion-editorial on the state of marriage in America. Her point is infinitely more unique, thoughtful, and poignant than anything Bono has ever written for the New York Times (don’t click that link if you cherish your brain cells).

I just want to point out that part of the Post’s URL is “ashley_fires_ho_in_one”. And that is the most interesting thing to have come out of Tiger Woods being beaten with his own golf clubs.

For this we missed Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County” Thursday night?

Yes, we could not resist watching the premiere of MTV’s “Jersey Shore.” We’ve seen just five minutes, and we don’t know whether to laugh, cry or get a weapon and find the MTV executive who greenlit this ridiculous piece of crap.

“Jersey Shore” has caused a flap in the Garden State already with UNICO, an Italian American group, charging that the show stereotypes their ethic group. The show’s “cast” of three guys and three girls are self-proclaimed “guidos” and “guidettes” who flocked to Seaside Heights, N.J., this summer.

UNICO is wrong. “Jersey Shore” doesn’t defame Italian Americans or the Garden State. It defames humanity.

For those in the Cornhusker states, “guido” is a derogatory term for Italian guys with jelled-hair, ripped muscles, tight T-shirts and no brains. But Midwesterners, please don’t believe everyone in Jersey is like the “govones” on this reality show.

Here are a few of the insightful quotes from the “Jersey Shore” cast, before we see their stomach-turning sexual exploits, hot-tub stripteases, excessive drinking, macho bragging and loud vomiting.

Pauly D — “I was born and raised a guido. It’s being an Italian.”

Sammi — “The shorter the shorts, the better…If you’re not a guido, you can get out of my f—king face.”

Jenni — “I’m like a praying mantis. After I have sex I’ll rip their heads off.”

Ronnie — “The whole thing is about getting laid…I can’t be with a girl if she isn’t prettier than me.”

First of all, in defense of New Jersey, only one of the upstanding youths in “Jersey Shore” is actually from New Jersey, Sammi. Hazlet, N.J., should be very proud of her. The rest of the crew is from Rhode Island, Staten Island, the Bronx, Long Island and upstate New York.

In our youth, we spent many a weekend at the “Shore,” as we natives call it. We stayed in the Irish area, Sea Girt, and a lot of Italian Americans roosted in Belmar. We hung in places like Bar “A” and the Parker House.

Along the way those summers. we may have seen a few characters who might have fit the description of a “guido.” And we saw drunk guys — of all ethnic backgrounds — say and do some pretty stupid things. In fact, we said and did some pretty stupid things after a few shots of tequila. (We’re not like that anymore. We drink martinis.)

But down at the Shore we never came across anything like the collection of “stunads” that are on this show.

The New York Post did a story on the show last Sunday, headlined, “‘Shore Thing: New Jersey Gets Its Day In The Sun, Thanks To A Guido Invasion,’ and profiled the cast.

We enjoyed reading some of the comments on the story.

Here is one from vtx13cnj: “So if this show is OK, then when do the Amos n Andy reruns start? How about a reality show starring drunken Irishmen beating up their wives? We can follow it up with a reality show based in a Chinese laundry. What, we can’t do that? But its OK to stereotype Italian Americans. Great country we live in.”

Manhead wrote this, verbatim: “I grew up on the Jersey shore and this is exactly what all italians are like. Thats why they call the show True Life. They’re not exagerating.”

The Star-Ledger has done several stories about “Jersey Shore” and the controversy around the show, with the latest headlined “‘Jersey Shore’ Celebrates ‘Guidos.’”

Jersey has become a popular setting for reality shows, such as Bravo’s hit “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and Style Network’s “Jerseylicious,” which is shooting now in Green Brook, N.J.

As you may have noticed, we are not writing about home shopping in this blog.

But as we told you from the start, our passions include TV programming and New Jersey. So we can’t not talk about “Jersey Shore.” But we will not watch it again. We hope other viewers do the same.

Oh no, we just learned that MTV is running another new episode of “Jersey Shore” at 11. We are going to get a weapon, any weapon.

Thursday’s Page Six Magazine from the New York Post has, as promised, a profile on “Top Chef” host and new HSN vendor Padma Lakshmi.

The sultry cook is depicted on the cover naked in a sexy pose, wearing what we believe is jewelry from the line she designed and is selling at Bergdorf Goodman.

Cover girl Lakshmi, who is divorced from writer Salman Rushdie, is pregnant. But Page Six could not get her to spill who the father is.

But the article does mention Lakshmi’s the “Easy Exotic”, an array of teas and spices that she is selling on HSN.

“Jewels, spices and teas — I sound like Magellan,” Lakshmi told Page Six Magazine.

The hit “Top Chef” airs on Bravo.

As Tiger Woods remains silent about the car crash outside his Florida home early Friday morning, it seems the accident may have opened the door to his personal life — now that may be crashing in too. Now, could a mistress be what sparked an argument between Tiger woods and his wife that lead to the car crash? Well, that is according to the National Enquirer, http://www.nationalenquirer.com/. Rachel Uchitel, a renowned party girl, has been having an affair with Woods since June, after they met at a club she was working at. To back up their story, the Enquirer has several quotes from Uchitel’s friends, “They were constantly ’sexting.’” Tiger was asking things like, “What are you wearing? What do you want to do to me? What do you want me to do to you?” To substantiate the story, the Enquirer claims Uchiel’s friends, quoted in the article about the affair with Woods, all passed lie detector tests.

Uchitel is not talking, and Tiger’s not talking either. He won’t even speak to investigators, except for this carefully worded statement on his website “This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Most legal experts agree that not speaking to investigators, is not just his legal right, but was a smart move on Tiger’s part, but perhaps a PR nightmare for the golfer. And many are asking, what kind of precident does this set for his millions of young fans?

Now Woods has cancelled any and all appearances and tournaments for 2009 including the 2009 Chevron World Challenge happening this week that Woods was to host. He will not return to action till next year, issuing this statement “I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week,” Woods said. “I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I’m very sorry that I can’t be there.” (read full statement here http://web.tigerwoods.com/index). Uchitel claims she has no relationship with the golfer and told the New York Post she is considering suing the Enquirer over its report. Uchitel has fled to Los Angeles and is being represented by high profile attorney Gloria Allred.

It’s becoming a habit: HSN’s celebrity vendors winding up on the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column. Monday it was “Top Chef’s” lovely Padma Lakshmi.

Page Six offered a tidbit, from its upcoming interview Thursday with the pregnant Lakshmi. It will appear in Page Six Magazine.

Bravo star Lakshmi, who has done a line of her cookbooks, teas and spices for HSN, tells Page Six, “I like me better naked….When you don’t have any clothes on, it’s just you, raw, and you can’t hide.”

We’re sure that will catch the attention and spark some fantasies for many red-blooded American men.

We can’t wait to read the full interview Thursday.

Maybe it was the references to the Deltas and Kappas that got my attention, or the image of cap and trade legislation as a teetering Jenga tower on the verge of collapse.

Regardless, this piece in the New York Post wins Working the Hill’s award for the best “outside the beltway” column on ClimateGate and the scandal’s potential for putting cap and trade into the deep freeze.

It may not be the biggest scandal since Watergate. But what appeared to be a clear path to massive cap-and-trade legislation just a few months ago now resembles a Jenga tower, and the scandal looks like the tile that will bring the whole thing down. 

The British scientists at the Climatic Research Unit of East Anglia University and their correspondents, some of them American, apparently conspired to delete evidence to escape required public disclosure; fudged and buried data; tried to lock out skeptics seeking to publish non-alarmist research; and even wanted to “beat the crap out of” a skeptical scientist. 

“It’s no use pretending this isn’t a major blow,” said environmentalist writer George Monbiot in The Guardian. The e-mails “could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them.”

The New York Post’s Page Six must have someone tailing HSN celebrity chef Todd English. We’re even starting to feel sorry for the guy, even though he allegedly jilted his bride-to-be and left her at the altar the day of their wedding.

Monday’s Page Six, in an item headlined “Face Time,” reports that English, who was on HSN last week with his green cookware, was rebounding well after leaving Erica Lang, his former fiancee.

Page Six says that English was spotted “sucking serious face” with a pretty young thing at the Brass Monkey Bar in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.

The Post broke the story about English dumping Wang, who got her revenge by giving the tabloid an exclusive about how he was a cad who dumped her on their would-be wedding day.

English responded by filing domestic abuse charges against Wang, whe he claims hit him in the head with his own watch.

HSN fans don’t seem to be holding any of this against him.

Now is the time to pull the trigger

Here’s something we already knew but now looks official: Roy Halladay won’t be re-signing with the Jays. According to ESPN.com, Paul Beeston told the New York Post that Doc is set to test the free agent waters, and why not? Let’s see — a chance to play for any team in the world? If I’m Doc, I’m not choosing this mess of a franchise.

Of course, this was inevitable. Are you up for this, Alex Anthopolous Ricciardi Jr.? With several young pieces in place already, now’s the time to deal Halladay. Adam Lind, Aaron Hill, Travis Snider and Ricky Romero are a fine core to build around, and the addition of say, Clayton Kershaw, just might accelerate the process all the more. What do you think, Dodgers? Can we get something done?

Just as security officials overlooked Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s links to al Qaeda cleric Anwar Aulaqi, who exhorts American Muslims to kill US soldiers, so did our leaders long turn a blind eye to a “mainstream” Muslim group’s ties to this same 9/11-tied imam and other Islamic extremists.

For years, our media and government routinely accepted and even promoted the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations as a legitimate voice of Muslim Americans, buying into its claim to be the Muslim ACLU.

In fact, CAIR is a radical Saudi-funded front group founded by leaders of the terror-supporting Muslim Brotherhood to infiltrate Washington and defend extremists. More than a dozen of CAIR’s leaders have been jailed or otherwise implicated in support of terrorism — yet its spokesmen until recently were welcomed in the highest corridors of power. They still boast of meeting with then-President George W. Bush after 9/11.

“From its founding by Muslim Brotherhood leaders, CAIR conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists,” Assistant US Attorney Gordon Kromberg stated in a recent court filing…

…Meanwhile, the media’s courtship with CAIR continues apace. In the wake of the Fort Hood killings CNN, PBS, Fox, MSNBC and other networks immediately put CAIR’s leaders on the air — where they predictably insisted the attack had nothing to do with Islam and warned that any “Islamophobes” who make that obvious connection are inviting violent “backlash” against Muslims.

Ironically, a top CAIR official was a member of a terror cell linked to Aulaqi, who also counted some of the 9/11 terrorists and Maj. Hasan in his flock. Aulaqi met with members of the Virginia Jihad Network, which trained to kill our soldiers in Afghanistan.

The group’s ringleader, Ismail Royer, worked out of CAIR’s national headquarters.

The terrorists were later convicted, and one of their confederates, an al Qaeda sleeper, was busted plotting to assassinate President Bush. Royer himself cut a deal, pleading to a lesser, related weapons charge in exchange for his cooperation. But he’s not cooperating: Frustrated prosecutors recently branded him an “inveterate liar” in one filing.

Yet CAIR national spokesman Ibrahim Hooper is heading efforts to spring Royer, his protégé, from prison, where he’s serving 20 years.

Federal prosecutors now agree that, far from being a benign nonprofit, CAIR is the spearhead of an anti-American conspiracy to support terrorism and institutionalize Saudi-style rule in America. And they warn in court filings that its participation in that conspiracy is “ongoing.”

The media elite are now expressing shock that the military and government officials turned a blind eye to Hasan and his extremist connections. The real shock is that this elite continues to legitimize a group that has similar ties.

When talking with my friend Heidi after rehearsal, she was like, “you know you’re in the New York Post right?”  And I’m like, “that’s an odd thing to joke about.”  Well, I was quite shocked to find out she Googled me and found out that I was reviewed by the New York Post as part of my performance at Earl Dax’s Dixon Place.  Woohoo!

Here the quote: “But what won me over is the fact that the evening started with an Irish dance by Russell Brown wearing a beautiful skirt. It was completely unexpected in that context, which really gave it a special kick, so to speak.”

Damn!  That made my day.  Even if she said “skirt” instead of kilt.  It’s not the New York Times, but it’s not the Gotham Gazette either. When Heidi told me she said it in a way to be like “hey, I don’t want to blow up your ego.” And I was like “please go ahead, I have none!  That’s why I practically bit off the head of my date tonight when we started talking about theater.” Thanks Heidi!

Nenhum artigo, no entanto, foi mais cruel do que o escrito por George Roush no site Latino Review. O crítico abriu entrelinhas para cada personagem principal do longa-metragem. “Get off our golden boy’s case” seemed to be the message Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson had this morning for her colleague Brian Kilmeade this morning as he sported about the highly prized client of sports agent and hubby, Casey Close. After Brian’s first sports segment at the blue wall, he went back to the curvy couch and asked to “go off script just a little bit.”* Thereafter, he began to express sympathy for a certain someone in the news who was “going through a tough time.”

However, when he named the “poor chap” as New York Yankee star Derek Jeter and showed the New York Post cover pic of him cavorting with his gorgeous girlfriend actress Minka Kelly on the beach at St. Barts, Gretchen seemed slightly chafed. As Brian “encouraged” the 2009 World Series champion marooned on the isle with his bikini babe that things would get better, Gretchen shook her head, smirked, and crossed her arms tightly against her chest. Appearing more than a moit agitated with Brian’s puckish play, she put her right  forefinger to her temple as if she had a headache and snugly wrapped her left arm defensively around her waist.

When Brian finally finished his elfin tomfoolery,  a relieved Gretchen leaned forward, looked straight ahead, and placed her hands more comfortably in her lap. While co-anchor Steve Doocy introduced the next story, Brian turned to Gretchen and smiled impishly. Like an annoyed school teacher, Gretch gave him the eye for a moment and then looked away with a slight air of irritation.

Como es bien sabido por todos la saga “Call of  Duty” ha tenido un gran exito en el mundo de los videojuegos, y como todos sabrán eso solo significa una sola cosa para hollywood, hay que hacerle la pelicula para sacarle todo el jugo posible y no importa que la caguen en el intento.

En el New York post fue publicado hace poco un articulo donde el actor Kevin Mckidd hablo sobre lo que podria ser la llegada al cine de este gran juego:

“Estaban buscando a un actor escocés todo rudo en Hollywood y al parecer no pudieron agarrar a Gerard Butler, así que tomaron al que le seguía que era yo. No tenia idea de que mi voz iba a estar en tan famoso juego y pues ahora están las pláticas de la película. Si el guión es el adecuado, y Gerard no está disponible, entonces (se ríe) absolutamente la haría”.

Esperemos más información sobre este rumor, no quiero sacar conclusión aún.
