I had to chuckle yesterday at a forum conversation I was involved in on a totally horse unrelated site. There’s a private tipster competition going on there, so this brought about the topic of conversation. A chap in the competition apparently runs a tipping subscription site, and he was doing a write up of his selections, so many points each way-hundreds of points in profit etc, etc. I chirped in with a link to my blog and he got a little huffy coming back with the response… “I’m not knocking you but it’s just a list of horses with no reasons“. Now if I was running a subscription site there would be reasons behind these selections written in full, but I only do this for fun. The selections don’t get picked out of thin air and those of you who know me personally or from the Betfair forums know where I have my contacts. You don’t get Templegate putting a list of reasons up do you? . So as of today, subscription tipping sites are up there on my “TOP 10 RACING DISLIKES” along with automatons

Let me know any of your racing gripes/niggles and we’ll produce a fun comprehensive list on the run up till Christmas.

OK, here’s today’s list of selections at Newcastle

12.10 Newc- Something Silver (e/w).

12.40 Newc- Diklers Oscar (e/w).

1.15 Newc- Weapons Amnesty (win).

1.50 Newc- Solwhit (win).

2.25 Newc- against the heavy favourite, try Wave Power (e/w).

2.55 Newc- Seek The Truth (win).

3.25 Newc- Jass & Coe (e/w).

A mixed time of it last weekend, with Leicester getting the result against Plymouth but Villa, my pick of the day, only managing to draw at Turf Moor. I still think that bet represented good value, though at the end of the day a losing bet is a losing bet!

We’ve got a cracking weekend of football ahead – Sunday especially, with Everton/Liverpool, Chelsea/Arsenal and Barca/Madrid gracing our screens. None of those showpiece games represent great betting opportunities, though there are worse picks out there than the 14-5 available on Everton to beat hapless Liverpool at Goodison.

The pick of the weekend for me is Fulham to beat Bolton at Craven Cottage, currently 10-11 on Betfair. Fulham are playing really well at the moment and dismantled Blackburn midweek. Bolton, on the flip side, are having a mare, and I can’t see them getting back on track here.

A similar pick in the Championship, with Newcastle also 10-11 on Betfair to see off Swansea. I’ve been mightily impressed with the Toon this season, having written them off in a big way in the summer. To be fair, I thought they would lose far more players than they have done but, even still, they are doing remarkably well and are good value for the win here.

Selections:
Fulham to beat Bolton, 1.9 Betfair, 3 points
Newcastle to beat Swansea, 1.91 Betfair, 3 points

Weekend long-odds multiple:
Fulham, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, QPR, MK Dons, 37-1 Betfair

‘Jockey’ Chelsea Boots, Topshop, £55.

I have been lusting over these lovely little red shoes (to replace my very tired and worn out little red shoes no less) for about 2 1/2 months – IF NOT LONGER! But woe is me, they are NEVER available in a size 3. VERY ANNOYING.

I’ve actually never even seen them in stores, they probably sold out very quickly I imagine. If you ever see them in a local (London) store or online in UK 3 (EU 36) please do let me know as I will be all over them like fuzz on a peach! TA!

In a survey of over a thousand quotes from the X Factor finalists, judges and fans of the show, Geordie lad Joe McElderry has emerged as the most relaxed contestant. The poll, undertaken by leading Australian beer brand Foster’s uses a series of language based algorithms to gauge how worried or carefree someone is.

Popular social networking site Twitter formed a crucial part of the survey, helping to determine that with a score of 80%, bookie’s favourite Joe was well and truly the most ‘No Worries’ contestant out of this year’s remaining hopefuls.

Foster’s brand manager Natalie Clearie said: “It’s incredible that Joe McElderry manages to maintain such a No Worries attitude despite the pressure he is under – we wonder if he has some Australian in him? His fellow finalists could learn a lot from his laid back, Aussie attitude, and who knows, it might even win them some more votes this weekend.”

On the opposite end of the scale, Cheryl’s other act Lloyd Daniels is riding low with a score of only 10%. With twins John & Edward gone he is now favourite to leave and having already faced the bottom two twice before, the odds are not looking good for the Welsh singer.

For additional scores, news and views relating to the X Factor and its aspiring contestants, as well as all the best picks from the web, make sure you check out their Twitter page twitter.com/FostersUK

Newcastle United v Swansea City A big one for us. Can it really be only 5 years ago that we were in

Newcastle United v Swansea City

A big one for us. Can it really be only 5 years ago that we were in the bottom tier, going to places like Kidderminster, Lincoln and Macclesfield? Now we’re playing the top team in the Championship in front of a crowd likely to top 40,000.

And to top that off, we can go up there with a decent level of optimism to come back with something. They’ve got a number of Premiership quality players; Nolan and Gutierrez are far better than this league and Ameobi, Smith, Guthrie, Harper, Enrique and Taylor, are all capable at that level. But I look at a few of our players and am confident they could also make that step up.

Hopefully Cotterill will make an appearance and I’m sure he’ll be trying to impress if he does.

We’ve sold our away allocation and will make plenty of noise. I’m going for a 1-1 draw on this one – Carroll for them and Beattie to get another away goal for us.

Prediction 1-1

Other games of interest

Cardiff v Ipswich

Brings back some great memories from the last time Roy Keane’s ipswich came to Cardiff. Oh, how I laughed at the great Ninian Park send-off from last season. Here’s hoping Ipswich can do it again in Legoland.

Prediction 2-2.

Everton v Liverpool

The first instalment of Sky Sports’ Super Smashing Sexual Climax Sunday should be a good ‘un. Two shite teams, most of the best players injured, should hopefully lead to a nasty scrappy derby.

Prediction 1-0
Sendings-off 1-2

Arsenal v Chelsea

Hard to see the Premiership Swans stopping Chelsea. With Van Persie definitely out and maybe Gallas to join him, I’ll go for an away win.

Prediction 1-2

I had actually been planning to upload some nice pics of art shows and people riding fixed gear over

I had actually been planning to upload some nice pics of art shows and people riding fixed gear over the weekend as I’ve been a little slack on blogging lately, so on Friday when Danny – my partner in crime/road trips/drinking coffee/slacking off and going for a bike ride suggested we work on our respective blogs at his place after a quick peddle around town and a spot of lunch I was never going to stay at home, was I. Though, if I had a crystal ball……..

Just around the corner from Chez Hughes, the road outside Dance City is covered in the smoothest tarmac in Newcastle and when it’s been raining it’s like skidding down a hill made from butter with a hot knife for a back tyre, seriously it’s absolutely perfect for fixed gear skids (I expect to see more of you there from now on). So after about 10 runs down this I decided to start jumping down the steps outside Barn Asia to save my back tyre a little, and this was my undoing. Now I could lie and say I was going big and dropping the sets of 6&7 steps but it wouldn’t be a good idea as my Karma is pretty bad already it seems. Nope it was just the sets of 2/3 steps but on a fixie I don’t think that’s too embarrassing (hopefully).

1st run – nice and smoove.

2nd run – and the ground came up towards my face very quickly.

Over the bars onto the ground, with the bike following closely behind due to being still strapped in, landing like a sack of spuds dropped from a ladder entirely onto my elbow. Not my finest moment in life, but I didnt cry or puke (until the next morning with a hangover anyway). Why do things by half, when you can break them into 3 pieces just like my collarbone.

If you also fancy going and breaking your collarbone my top tip would be NOT to wear 3 layers of clothing that all have to come off over your head – painfully!!!

Aside from my huge appreciation of the NHS staff who knocked me out, cut me open, fixed me, gave me pain killers, knocked me out again, cut me open again, fixed me some more, gave me more painkillers, I’d just like to give massive thanks to Danny for taking me to A&E (and for the poppets while we were there), and to Stella for taking me back the next morning to meet the man who would slice me open and waiting around for several hours early doors on a Saturday, and finally to Chris for picking me up at 7am from home on a Sunday to take me back to the NGH for my 3rd visit in 3 days.

MC300-MS7 York-Sunbury Historical Society Collection
Description (page 121)

If you are interested in any of these files then please contact the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick.

“The documents in this series were kept by two brothers, William Henry Street and John Ambrose Sherman Street, who were born in Burton, Sunbury County, the sons of Hon. Samuel Deny Street and Abigail Freeman. They were educated at public schools in Burton and Fredericton.

William Henry Street was born April 11, 1793. After completing his education, he engaged in the mercantile business in Saint John. He was twice mayor of Saint John (1835-1836 and 1848-1849) and served in the militia. In the General Election of 1842, he ran for Saint John City and, after protest, was awarded the seat. He sat until the dissolution of the House in 1846 when he retired from politics. W.H. Street was married twice: in 1824 to Mary Bruce, and in 1847 to Sarah Boyd Orr. He died in Saint John on April 4, 1875.

John Ambrose Sherman Street was born September 22, 1795. He studied in his father’s law office and was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar on February 22, 1817. He practiced law at Chatham, Northumberland County, and in 1823 married Jane Isabella Hubbard. He was elected to the Assembly as a Conservative member for Northumberland County at a by-election in 1833. He sat in the House almost continuously until his defeat in 1856. He then moved to Fredericton and unsuccessfully ran for York County in 1861 and 1865. He was made a member of the Executive Council in 1851, and served as Attorney-General until 1854. He died in 1865.

The Street Records pertain to the legal and business affairs of the brothers. The material is catalogued alphabetically according to client’s name. The types of documents found here include: indentures, deeds, declarations, bonds, assignments, correspondence, and leases. The material dates from 1812 to 1863. This series measures 9 centimeters.”

Onderweg slaan we echter noorderlijk af richting Richmond.

Yesterday, we played host to a new local/national initiative to foster debate within the art world. The debate was titled Steady State and was hosted by MMM, which stands for Missions, Models, Money and Era21

Attendees included the heads of Arts Council North East, Baltic, Centre for Life, Live Theatre, NFM, GNAF – and arts and policy chiefs from Government Office North East and Newcastle City Council.

Speakers were:

Charlotte Jones (Independent Theatre Council)

Caroline Routh (The Empty Space)

Paul Rubenstein (Newcastle City Council)

Godrey Worsdale (Baltic)

Robin Simpson (Voluntary Arts)

Clare Cooper (MMM)

The debate ranged widely over arts policy in the challenging economic climate, the power of art to engage with the excluded and the conundrum that amateur participation doesn’t necessarily lead to greater audience uptake.

Really great to see that the established institutions can springboard off the debates to see the organic nature of what we’re creating at Hoults, which is equally valid and challengingly freef0rm for today’s market. With 400+ people working out of the yard in 50+ creative media firms, we’re reinterpreting the old model of monolithic dinosaurs and turning our cohort into a very active collaborative community.

NFM kindly agreed to host the meeting – not quite sure who paid for the cakes but they were scrummy.

Hoy recordamos otras.

Manchester United 9 – Ipswich Town 0

Marzo 1995

Nottingham Forest 1 – Manchester United 8

Febrero 1999

Blackburn Rovers 7 – Nottingham Forest 0

Noviembre 1995

Okay,I really find it hard to understand people..I mean the one surrounding me right now..I didn’t know whether I should consider them as a friend or not..I mean, how is it so easy for some people to be really nice to you and they always seek you whenever they need help or simply because they want to tell you something and the next thing you knew, they bitch talk about you..I found myself in that position right now.Well,I’m not sure whether they really did bitch talk about me or not but the thing is,I felt as if I’m treated as a second choice friend.Well, that’s not surprising…I’m used to be the replacement before this.I mean, whenever some particular person haven’t had much time to talk or spend time with someone, they’ll turn to me..Telling things as if I’m someone who can help and give advice,bla..bla..bla and when that particular person isn’t occupied anymore,I’ll be left all alone until the same things happen again. That’s my definition of life is like a circle..And just when I thought everything seems to be normal again,I found myself trapped in the same exact situation here.Okay, truth be told,I have no problem leading life that way..For me,I’m always available whenever someone needs help regardless how bad or how well they gonna treat me later, but never it cross in my mind that such thing will occur so soon…..I’ve been here for only about 2 months and already people are showing their true colours..

A friend of mine who I’ve been protecting ever since we arrived found a new friends(yes, with the ’s’) and decided to dumped me just like that.Whenever people talk bad about her,I back her up and said ’she’s a nice person’..Well,maybe for her I’m not cool as her new friends and I don’t blame her that.I can’t pretend that I’m cool cause I know I’m not..and I didn’t blame them either as I never really care who she befriend with..They are a bunch of really nice and fun people(they really are) so I guess why bother to spend time with the plain me when she can go ‘hype’ with them right??Though people claim I’m jealous to see them together,I really-really don’t feel that way.I have my super duper cool friends(though they are farrrrrrrrrrrrrrr away from me..*sigh*) too…I still listen to all her problems though..and I still help her in any way as possible but just because my silly mistake, which is commenting her during our movie night, she accused me of not wanting her to be friend with them..Like WTH right??how did I know about this??She refuses to talk to me during the movie night and she refuses to talk with me and the next thing I knew, her FB status says ‘I LOVE MY FRIENDS..bla..bla..bla(can’t remember)..TO THOSE THAT I HATE,GET A LIFE’..now,that’s a major misunderstood. All I said was asking her to stop giving suggestions as it was our first time to the cinema here and she’s been there with her friends before so seems like she knew everything about the place..I remember saying ‘Bising betul..taulah dah pernah pergi sini’ and she claims that I don’t want her to be friends with them???I’m missing something here..I didn’t even mention anything about them..HurmM..but who the hell cares right. And yes, eventhough she uses the word THOSE but I knew that she refers it to me..Again,please don’t include others in this matter okay..And we never speak ever since and I doubt we ever will.

Also, another friend of mine only chat with me whenever he needs to ask something about someone. Like what did the person told me, does the person talk to me today, stuffs like that and whenever they were having problems,he releases his anger towards me..and when I gave suggestion saying they should discuss the matter(of which I wasn’t informed..) instead of avoiding each other,he was so pissed off that he stop chatting with me(well,at least i’m being honest right, though my words might be a little harsh) and I really thought that’s it..until recently we chat just because he wanted to know whether I ever talk or chat with the person within a certain period.Okay, now that really get my nerves.I don’t deserve to be treated that way..WTF…and when thing seems to be going on quite well with them,I didn’t receive any news from him.So there goes the who-the-hell-is-Allan-again?? and again I didn’t care..One of my friend said I’m being too nice to the people here..well,I don’t want to add another name to my never ending enemy list, that’s why…

And why do I even bother to write about this stuffs??Because I know my friends will read this and by this I want to tell them that I fucking need you guys here…And we gonna have a blast when I go back to KK next year. Can’t wait to meet you guys and btw to AZLAILY RETHA…

It’s been interesting re-reading Hunter Davies’ book recording his walk along Hadrian’s Wall in 1974 to see how things have changed since then.

First stop is Wallsend. In Davies’ book, Segedunum fort is still covered by terraced houses. Now the fort has been excavated, and an award winning museum stands beside it.

Later on his wander thrugh the suburb of Benwell, Davies tops to see the Vallum gateway and Temple of Antenociticus. There’s a great explanation and pictures on the Roman Britain.org website. Nowadays they look pristine. Davies complains about the rubbish chucked all over the place. Looks like the kind of place that I’d love to go and spend hours poring over but husband and children drag me away after five minutes. Thank heavens we’ve all got cameras now: they’d have something to keep them occupied!

Improving our Built Environment and the Planning Process

The Municipality of Clarington is pleased to invite you to attend a Public Information Session regarding the recently release discussion paper Let’s Have a Discussion…. Improving our Built Environment and the Planning Process.
What is going to be different? The site plan control process now allows municipalities to consider the external design and sustainable design elements of buildings. This means that the Municipality will have greater control over the quality of the built environment to create lively, safe, pedestrian-friendly public spaces which are integral to healthy, sustainable communities. Help us formulate the policy directions to ensure a ‘pedestrian and exterior design first’ approach.

This session provides a great opportunity for citizens to participate in their local planning processes, to help shape policy and to have their say as to what development they think is important for their community in the future. Exterior, sustainable design and the site plan control process are just two of the many topics to be explored at the Public Information Session.
The purpose of this meeting is to consult with the public about the proposed directions contained in the Discussion Paper. The desired outcome of the meeting is to determine if the proposed directions are supported. If so, they will inform in the preparation of the Official Plan policy amendments needed to implement the changes to implement the Provincial and Regional planning policies.
This meeting is scheduled for:

DATE: Wednesday, December 9, 2009
TIME: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

I heard from my solicitor in Newcastle this morning that my trial in Edinburgh has been set for Febr

I heard from my solicitor in Newcastle this morning that my trial in Edinburgh has been set for February 7th, no bail conditions. Civilised people, the Scots. Me mam always calls them Scotchies.

Gary rang and told me only 7 scabs have gone into Westoe this morning because they’d been visited and shown the error of their ways! Good! Mind you, the NCB have offered another bribe of £175 plus back pay to any miner who returns to work before next Friday. The bastards are getting really desperate now, but their 30 pieces of silver will only succeed with a tiny minority.

The majority of us will treat it with the contempt it deserves, especially as it comes straight after the tories deducting a further £1 from the pittance a miner’s family is supposed to live on, about £14 a week, all normal bills expected to be paid. Debt! Single miners get nothing, not even picket pay for me just now, a charity case living off handouts from supporters.

I met some ambulance drivers in Kenton and was given £20 in cash, and the promise of regular sums to be sent to the kitchen. If all this money from London is written down on the sheet at Westoe it should really give them heart to see the range of their support.

I can speak to Jen and Sasha on the phone, but Kath refuses to speak to me. Bloody hell! I just don’t think I deserve this.
