As the bandwidth became wider and cheaper on the last few years, many people (mostly young folks) pass their time mainly to download stuff. Well, the most known and popular source today is Emule and Bittorrent ofcourse.

I however, got frustrated because of slow download speed. One day I saw an advertisement. Usually I won’t even bother to read them, but it caught me. It was an advertisement for software called “UseNext”.

I’m sure many of you heard of the thing called “Newsgroups” – we all remember them from the good all past. Today however, it’s being used by many people to download almost about everything.

So, is it free? Not exactly, but it depends on how you see it.

First you need to open up an account on a news server provider (look for Giganews, UseNext) there are many out there, most people will agree that GigaNews is the best one. UseNext however is good for beginners.

You’ll then need a good newsgroup reader (look for NewsLeecher).

This is something you have to learn a little bit and get used to since it’s not exactly like the typical P2P file sharing we are all used to. However, your download speed will be as fast as the actual bandwidth your ISP provides you and the selection on these server is enormous.
