Even David Cameron lacks faith in the Policing in England for low-level crime

Apparently Cameron seems surprised to see his bike again, its nice to see even he has so little faith in the policing system as well…and he lives in a really nice area!

Imagine the despondency of people who are victims of crime in run down areas. Never mind a stolen bike being low priority to the police, how about vandalism, assault, threatening behaviour…all things you could expect a long wait for police to attend in certain areas of Glasgow.

Consequently, in the past, people would not bother to contact the police which sent low level crime and antisocial behaviour spiralling out of control, simply because it went untackled.

Recently we have been in the sad position of either burying people who do stand up for themselves and their property or sending them to jail.

But it’s been worse, and I mean that sincerely. Even in the last year I have noticed the increased response time from police. Alway’s a good thing. The SNP Government have promised more Police on the streets, and now, there are more trainees going through Tulliallan training center than in previous years. The Police campaign for new recruits has been hugely noticable.

I believe the SNP have the right idea in trying to tackle some of the fundamental issues which cause low level crime in Scotland for so many years.

Although, I hope that they will consider completely banning the possession of airguns. Unless the owner can make a case, with evidence, that they should be permitted to keep it. Although this would only apply to rural areas.

I would also hope that the SNP government would consider tougher jail sentences on people who carry knives or other offensive weapons but do NOT prosecute people who find themselves in trouble for defending themselves or their property. I refer, primarily, to Steven Armstrong and the current petition to have him released from prison.

The SNP didn’t win the Glasgow East by-election for no reason, the people CAN see the difference the SNP Government has been able to make in the last 12 months. The people of Scotland are showing that they support SNP candidates, they support the SNP government and they support an independant Scotland.

What sort of society have we become….. when over half a million children a year are referred to the Child Protection Agency?

As Camila Batmanghelidj of Kids Company points out (Children are not born criminals or killers), as these kids grow up “they know how to kick because they have been kicked, they know how to stab because they have been stabbed, they know how to torment and humiliate because they have experienced the same.”……and so we lay the foundations for future horrors, like the recent murder of Gary Newlove.

Margaret Thatcher once famously said “There is no such thing as society!”. The present Government have institutionalised this by ensuring the State meddles in everything. We are all now suffering the consequences of wholesale individual & community abdication because, the government have tilted the balance. Not only have the Government established an expectation that they alone can step in and resolve issues of feral kids on our streets and violence in our communities but, they now use the powers of state to protect their monopoly. We have all learned that a public spirited individual who intervenes to stop youths vandalising, abusing or, assaulting others is now automatically put in the position of the accused. The state has neutered one positive force from establishing community cohesion and has become negligent in carrying out its own monopoly role…. as has been reported re Gary Newlove’s killer, Adam Swelling

When the state once again supports reasonable interventions by individual citizens and protects them afterwards from reprisals we will be starting down a path of reducing the present blight on civilised society in our country.
