Need a vacation? Join the club. I haven’t been taking much time off of work, due to saving it all for my honeymoon. I actually have all the days asked off and approved for it, except for one day. And I am waiting to accrue more time before I can take that one off! In case you hadn’t heard, Hersh and I are going to New Orleans with a few other stops for our honeymoon. We are leaving the Monday after and will be hitting up Mississippi to see where his father grew up, as well as Nashville, TN on the way home.. that’s my favorite city! Anyways, anytime someone asks Hersh if he is ready or excited for the wedding, he always says he’s ready for after the wedding, the vacation! Typical groom response, right? I’m okay with that, I can’t wait to get away with him either, and especially to such cool places!

This isn’t a super jolly post, but we got to get it out there.

It’s stressful when YOUR success can determine SOMEONE ELSE’s happiness.

I hate worrying about finances. I have always told myself, “Don’t worry, there is NO reason to worry.” But now, I have a VERY legit reason to worry. I have someone to fight for. Someone who I need to support and care for. I want to provide for Michelle, but when it feels the whole world is saying no to me, it’s hard not to stress out.

I have all these things lined up about what I want to do:

I want to be a Producer. Career Goal. Check.

I want to work in advertising. Long term goal. Check.

I want to be creative and make interesting things for the rest of my life. Super long term goal. Check.

I want to get married to Michelle. Love life. Check.

I want to live in the Bay Area. Location. Check.

But everywhere I turn for employment, I feel another door shuts. I’m like a little mouse trying to get out of the labyrinth. But I’m not a smart mouse, I’m the dumb one that can’t get out of the damn thing.

I probably shouldn’t even be posting this blog post and should be looking for jobs, but I’ve been doing that all day and needed a 5 minute break.

If I was on my own I’d be a whole lot LESS stressed, but I’m not. There isn’t a “me” anymore, just “us.” We’ll get through this…I’m sure of it.

We need courage from outside forces people. And that’s you.

Wish us luck world. Apparently, we need it.

-Angelo

The T’s kids are so cute, I love seeing them at school everyday!

Haley Wittenberg, the fabulous wife of PGA TOUR star Casey Wittenberg, joins us today to talk fashion, travel, tour life and of course… love:)

SEEMA STYLE: Women are watching more golf and are heading out to TOUR events, comfy fashion is key! What shoes are the best for walking? How does a woman stay cute while walking 4 miles on a golf course?

HALEY WITTENBERG: Hi Seema! Being comfortable is always important! You always want to look cute on the golf course, even though it’s not a “fashion show” I try and stay stylish without sacrificing comfort. I’m on my feet for 5 hours and walking 5 miles sometimes! Lots of people wear flip flops or Toms, I always wear my Nike frees on the golf course. They’re the best lightweight tennis shoes!

SEEMA STYLE: What about apparel? There are so many weather conditions to keep up with…

HALEY WITTENBERG: If its cold I wear LuLu Lemon workout pants and
jacket. I try to dress it up so it doesn’t look like i just walked out of the gym, I accessorize with a fun necklace, earrings and/or a colorful scarf. When the weather is warm, I love wearing JCrew for their simple jewelry, scarves and shorts.

SEEMA STYLE: How do you protect your skin being outdoors for long periods of time?

HALEY WITTENBERG: I wear my TaylorMade hat to keep sun off my face and of course to support my hubby

I’m a product junkie and super obsessed with taking care of my skin. Sephora is an awesome place to find the best product for you! I’ve tried it everything, and my choice would be Shisiedo oil-free sunscreen for face, it’s the best! I also love Trish McEvoy. They have a great planner that holds all my brushes, bronzer, blush and eyeshadow, great for traveling!

SEEMA STYLE: Share with us what is in your travel beauty kit?

HALEY WITTENBERG: Things I can’t live without are:

Caudalie grape water spray

Make Up For Ever HD concealer

Dr. Jart Beauty Balm in black label detox

YSL Volupte sheer candy lipstick

Tarte’s light camera lashes mascara

Tom Ford perfume in Black Orchid

SEEMA STYLE: What are some cute outfits you pack and wear while traveling to the different PGA TOUR events?

HALEY WITTENBERG: I love Fun printed dresses. Hale Bob is one of my new faves. I
normally travel with one pair of heels my favorite are my nude bow heels. They
go with anything. You can always dress up shorts you wear on the course with a
fun top and heels for night.

SEEMA STYLE: What is it like being a PGA TOUR wife? The travel, the food, the experiences…

HALEY WITTENBERG: It’s FUN!!! Traveling takes some getting used to, especially knowing what to pack. I made the mistake of packing all summer clothes for 7 weeks on the west coast. It was 45 blowing 20mph and I had no clothes. Luckily there are great malls almost everywhere we go You need an assortment of clothes for all weather. Always pack a rain coat. I love the fans and meeting people on the course, and it always makes my heart smile to see or her people cheering for Casey!

SEEMA STYLE: How do you stay healthy on the road?

HALEY WITTENBERG: Food and staying healthy is tough. I plan ahead or I end up getting to that point where I’m so hungry and eat anything/everything! On Mondays I stock up on healthy snacks like almonds, yogurt, and cereals. Room service, player dining, and eating every meal out can be the death of your diet. You have to choose to be healthy and make healthy choices. Also find a gym as soon as you get to a new city. I love Pilates and try to find a class to go to wherever I am.

SEEMA STYLE: It can’t be all golf on the road! What are your favorite things to do as a couple at TOUR stops? As newlyweds, how do you stay romantic?

HALEY WITTENBERG: You have to take time for yourselves and have alone time. There are always friends or family that we want to be with but it’s important to make just one night a week for us. We love going to movies or having a romantic dinner at a local restaurant or going places to see the city we are in. If you don’t make a point to do fun things all you see is the golf course.

Tweet Haley @haleyspratt and let her know if you have any more questions! So much fun being a wife on the PGA TOUR!

Star Trek logs: marriage planet

Sometimes, as I listen to couples in my counseling and coaching practice, it feels like I am in a Star Trek episode in which alien cultures meet and struggle to develop communication protocols.

For example, I coached a couple who had just moved in together (new planet) and, in the process, discovered issues they did not have when they were courting and lived separately.

Making and sharing a home together for the first time, they now had to communicate about issues such as: who cleans the bathroom and to what standard; who is accountable for taking out the trash; who cleans up after dinner; who does the shopping; what should they shop for; and at what expense?

Living apart and courting one another, these questions were not relevant but having just moved in together, they became critical. The couple’s capacity to communicate, to negotiate and resolve issues in a cooperative manner became central to how they would share their lives. Any lack of development or impairment in their capacity to listen to one another was going to show up, big time.

Over time I was able to help two alien beings lay solid foundations for relationship, to move from courtship to partnership, and welcome a new dawn on the marriage planet.

It is currently down-pouring here in Battambang. Ridiculous amounts of thunder and lightning!

..Just kidding. It was HAILING. Welcome to Cambodia!

Our ministry here is a lot different than Siem Reap, but just as fruitful! We have been spending our mornings at a local ministry (20 minutes on our sweet bikes) known as Transform Asia. They are a newer ministry and need a lot of manpower fixing up their property. We have been able to dig out gardens, clear rocks and debris, lay new bricks and cement, plants flowers and other plants, and get to know the staff and students who come work along side us each day. They are a huge blessing to the community, reaching out to street kids and providing them with meals, vacation bible school, and other fun things.

Also! Meet our new friend. He is EVERYWHERE. Lovely, eh?

After lunch, most Cambodians nap because from eleven to two is the HOTTEST part of the day, most things go into nap mode. We don’t! It almost makes getting up and going back into the sun too difficult for our team of non Khmer folk. Instead, we jump back into a couple of different things. First, each day from one in the afternoon til six, two guys from our team ride out to the land that YWAM Battambang recently purchased and is leveling out. In Cambodia when you buy land, you have to bring in dirt to fill it, almost any land here is a rice paddy and therefor really low. The guys have to make sure trucks show up, people out here like to steal dirt from others. It sounds lame, but it is a huge blessing to the men staff of the base…they were doing twelve hour shifts every day for the past month and a half. The rest of the team splits our time between projects for Cafe Eden…a cafe run by a girl on staff here that reaches out to the locals. There, we fix, mend, build, clean, sort, and create. The other days, we spend the afternoons praying for the youth center that the base runs. Here, between 300 and 500 students come to learn basic skills; computer, English, guitar, dance, cooking, etc.

The kids here love balloons. And puppets. And face paint. And crafts.

One other thing we have been doing is attending a Khmer church. This past weekend, we put on skits and Mike (McDonald) gave a testimony!

Our schedule seems routine, but it is really full! If you haven’t noticed, our students implemented a “no wifi” policy except on our days off(Saturday). We noticed it was a big distraction, so everyone wanted to put it into effect and really dig in to our last couple weeks in Cambodia!

Everyone is loving it here. The heat is still INTENSE, but we ride bikes everywhere..which is fun and keeps us active. The students went to a crocodile farm this past weekend, so there will also be pictures of that! Hah.

Please pray for us as we go to renew our visas this week. We are going to the Thai border, which is an hour away, and we want the process to go smoothly. The border is known for its sketchy conditions. Also! For continued unity. Our little team feels attacks from the enemy really easily, and it quickly affects us all. Pray against any schemes he has for our team.

We want to say again…a huge thank you to all who helped us get shoes for the kids in Ta Pouk. We ran a kids day at a local ministry this Sunday and noticed that the majority of the 120 kids came without shoes. You provided so much money that we are possibly going to be able to purchase shoes for all of the kids in Battambang as well! THANK YOU for your generosity and for believing in what God is doing through our team!!

The Crocodiles!!

My husband and I met on a dating site January 2011, and went on our first date in February 2011. It was a great date; sushi, movie, awkward “kiss me, no don’t kiss me thoughts,” and also my first date… EVER!

He was charming, had a great personality, and handsomely shy. I, on the other hand, was so nervous I had to keep my mouth moving; definite word vomit. Needless to say we really liked one another and decided to be exclusive, but I quickly became discouraged and overwhelmed not knowing what to do now that this amazing man actually liked me for me, so what did I do? Yep, ended it before it got started.

I deleted his number, de-friended him off facebook, got rid of all my dating site profiles, and he was gone. No more making me giggle like a little school girl, worry that my hands were too sweaty and he’d notice, no more late night texting, or flirtatious phone calls; nothing. So, life went on and toward the end of 2011 (November), I decided to try those dating sites again, only to be greeted by a profile that was all too familiar. Now, during those months of “separation” I never forgot about the man that still made my stomach butterflies go crazy out of excitement, and little did I know he’d be the only man.

Chris and I started dating December 2nd 2011, engaged January 27th 2012, and married April 20th 2012. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. We just celebrated our 1st year of marriage, and let me tell you it was one heck of a year! My husband is the most gentle, kindhearted, loving, hilarious, real, devoted, patient man I could have asked for. I never knew I could love someone as much as I do my husband, and my love for him grows deeper everyday.

In Episode 7, we discussed a few topics that we want to link to so you guys can get all the info we were looking at. Early on in the episode Jackie made reference to the conspiracy theories whirling around regarding the Boston bombing. As crazy as most of these sound, some of them do spark a little skepticism because you just never know…

To read more about the conspiracy theories Click Here.

We also talked about the U.S. justice system and how ridiculous it is that the one Boston bomber who is still living will get an all-star defense team even though he is an admitted terrorist.

To read more about the lawyers defending Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Click Here.

I spoke about the prank I played on my mom texting her that I had just purchased 2 grams for $40 and here is a screenshot of our conversation. LOL. Gotta love my mama…

This morning, as B and I lay in bed, I say, “I’ll cut coupons while you’re out playing golf.”

“WOWWWWWWWWWWW.”

Which brings me to this post. This month has been an eye opener as B and I realize that through our words and actions, we are transitioning into for-real-adult territory. The kind where you’re so mother effing excited to buy things like laundry garment bags. The kind where your kids would react with a, “Omg Mom stop,” at what you’re doing.

These are the things that have made us sadly realize that we have indeed hit adult-dom.

YOU KNOW YOU’RE OLD WHEN…

1. You say, “I’ll cut coupons while you go play golf.”

2. You use the saying, “hootin’ ‘n’ hollerin’” in a sentence.

3. You are excited to drink a LIGHT beer on a week night.

4. You fall an old person fall. The kind where you trip and you don’t just trip but you actually fall onto the ground. The kind where you’d need one of those life necklaces to press so the ambulance can come help you get up.

5. You are searching for songs on the radio, don’t like anything you hear, and actually say, “They don’t make good music anymore.”

6. You drive by teenagers walking in the street at night with their pants half way off and say, “Look at these hooligans.” Because, yes, we have uttered these words.

7. Your weekends are filled with weddings, baby showers, communions, birthday parties, and visiting people’s children.

8. You start buying clothes for comfort and not cuteness.

9. You say to a friend,” I need shoes with arch support.”

10. Sleeping in until 8: 30 is so exciting.

11. Having extra money at the end of the month is super exciting because it means you can go to home depot to buy a professional plumber’s snake so you can finally unclog that drain that’s been clogged since you moved in so you’ve been using the shower to brush your teeth.

12. You’re more pumped about finding out you can get free Rita’s or Cinnabon on your birthday if you sign up on their websites than going shopping for your birthday and buying all the clothes you want.

13. You start doing your own yard work.

14. You even purchasing a minivan before you have kids.

15. You start dancing like a Mom.

16. You no longer understand the slang that teenagers say because they aren’t using the same slang you did when you were a teenager.

17. A child says to you, “Oh, is that what you did back in da’ day?”

18. Your social life is reserved for weekends only.

19. You jump up and down while saying, “I got TWO loaves of bread because they were buy one get one!”

20. You read books that ask you, “What’s your Love Language?” and “Your Guide to a Relaxing Home.”

As of tomorrow my new husband and I will be married for a whole 3 weeks. We have been together for 8

As of tomorrow my new husband and I will be married for a whole 3 weeks. We have been together for 8 years, but I want to document how our life as newlyweds is different… Or isn’t different at all.

So far we have been so blessed and are perfect together, but I know that wont last forever… DUH! However, we will always love each other no matter how much we will drive each other bonkers.

So far our usual arguments involved him not getting as much “laundry” time as he wants and me not cooking enough since we have been back from our honeymoon… I am not going into the details if that, but as usual those were both easy to fix. Ha!

He also isn’t a big fan of my 4 year old niece coming over all the time because he says I spend too much time with her and she is too loud in the mornings… Yeah he’ll just have to get over that. I love her too much and I had to make up for the fact that “I didn’t give her a hug before leaving on my honeymoon”.

Kids will hold on to the weirdest things.

Check ya later!

❤Sara Young

First, I just wanted to say ‘Thank you’ for all the love and support I got from everyone

First, I just wanted to say ‘Thank you’ for all the love and support I got from everyone regarding my last blog, “Baby Here Yet.” (if you haven’t read it yet, basically its the epic tale of one woman’s mental breakdown over an email asking if she has HAD a baby when she’s NEVER been pregnant).

I received so many phone calls and emails and comments on Facebook either sharing your own personal traumas in this area or just letting me know that you nearly peed your pants reading it (and that’s a quote from a voicemail today)! The support was much appreciated and I’m glad there are some people out there who get my weird sense of humor.

But I have some news for you (and NO, before you even freaking go there, I am STILL not pregnant). After all these conversations with both men and women, I came up with a strategy on how to deal with the mistaken pregnancy question better next time.

And by better, I mean a step up from looking like this:

Or…

So get ready. After sifting through some pretty mean comebacks, I came up with the ONE thing you can say that make the situation better. Sure, it may make you a slightly terrible human being. But hey, it’s a step up from sitting in your closet wondering if your wardrobe has resembled maternity clothes for the past 5 years.

Here it goes…so someone just asked you, “When are you due?/Can I feel it kick?/Did you have your baby yet?”

Your Response: Yes, I did! Sign me up for the meal train please.

I mean… if you have to suffer through the pain of the mistaken pregnancy, you might as well get something out of it. Free meals brought to your door? Yes please! And when people ask, just say they baby is sleeping. Sure, you may have to carry around a sack of potatoes around at church for awhile or at the very least, a squirming adorable puppy wrapped in a swaddling blanket that covers its face. But hey, won’t it be worth it for the free lasagna? Nothing nurses wounds like this quite like a free meal– especially if it’s lasagna. Then again, taking advantage of nice people may also be evil… but you can stuff back your moral conscience between bites of Italian awesomeness.

Or you can just do what I did, say they’re mistaken and then listen to a weather analogy that you’re pretty sure is referring to your womb.

Then again, why don’t we all just vow to stop asking people if they’re pregnant? After all, if someone’s pregnant, they’re going to tell you eventually. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut until they let you know or there is a baby magically appearing in their arms everywhere they go after the disappearance of a huge basketball-sized lump.

Then again, I guess you could still get unlucky with that comment in the above scenario. What if your friend is just babysitting after being super successful with Jenny Craig?

Lose-lose situation people. But at least in my case, unless you’re willing to buy me a dishwasher, the baby question is off the table.

The complicated part of a long-distance marriage is reconciling the timeline once you’re final

The complicated part of a long-distance marriage is reconciling the timeline once you’re finally together. We’ve been married almost three years, but until very recently were married by paper alone – and even more recently started living as a real married couple, in our own home, paying our own bills, with our own money.

We’ve got all the growing pains of newlyweds, accompanied by the stigma of having been married for long enough to know better – isn’t it time for kids already? How much of the budget should be allocated to fun? Who washes the dishes (preferably me, he’s terrible at it), who doesn’t flush the toilet (hint, it’s not me), who finds no fault in budgeting $400/month to alcohol (hint, ALSO NOT ME).

On the other hand, we have a beautiful home, and love each other more than feels humanly possible, so how can I really complain? I watch the people around me struggle to find what comes so easily to us, and I can’t be that angry. The timeline wasn’t ideal – it isn’t by choice that I find myself weeks away from my twenty-seventh birthday in a rented house with no dog and no kids, but I still look at other peoples’ lives and other peoples’ loves and am convinced that I came out ahead in life. We’re nearly three years married and I still spend my day waiting ’til we’re both off work so I can spend time with my husband. Nearly five years together and there’s still nobody I’d rather hang out with than him.

And now for some design candy, although anyone who follows my other social media feeds will probably have seen these already.

Here is what ii found…..

1. Update your hair and make-up.
2. Commit to getting fit and feeling hot.
3. Put your spouse back on top of the list-ahead of bills, work, even the kids.
4. Schedule time alone each week.
5. Buy her flowers for NO REASON.
6. Tell her you love her several times a day.
7. Kiss him passionately-no pecks on the cheek.
8. Tell her that her butt/bosom/legs look incredible in that pair of jeans/top/skirt.
9. Don’t take her for granted or forget your manners.
10. Surprise her with a spa day or get away.
11. Surprise him with a night at a hotel or great seats at a game.
12. Each day, think of a reason you’d marry your spouse all over again-and share it.

When I met my boyfriend I knew that he would be the one to take care of his mom. We were together 3 years when he proposed and started wedding planning and finding a home. So when we found a three bedroom house with a garden I knew it would be perfect. We bought the house and moved right in, including his mom.Two months latter we were married.

Now a little bit about his mom she is 72 years old, can not drive, or walk very well for that matter and was living in a place that took advantage of her and had bedbugs.

When we got married I knew it was going to be an adjustment being newlyweds in our early 20′s and taking care of an elderly women. I had no idea it was going to be this difficult.

I use this blog as a way of venting about what is going on in my life and maybe get some positive feedback from others.

Don’t you just HATE when your nails get to the length you want them, and then THIS happens? I know I do. But I’ve found a great way to fix those pesky broken nails instead of having to cut them down. Here are the tools you will need:

Crazy glue (or nail glue), a pair of scissors, a nail file, a tea bag, and a base coat of your choice.

1. Start off with filing the rough edges of the break in your nail, make it as smooth as you can.

2. Add a drop of glue to the tear and let dry completely.

3. After it dries completely, file down the nail so that it is completely smooth.

4. Take the tea bag and cut a small square, large enough to cover the tear completely.

5. Grab your tweezers and place the square over the area where the tear is, as close to the side of your nail as you can go.

6. Add a few drops of glue until it drenches the square completely.

7. After it dries completely, file down the rough edges to make it smooth and blend with your nail.

8. Add a second layer of glue.

9. File it down again until all the residue is gone.

10. And there you go good as new!

Now I just want to note that you can use crazy glue like I did or regular nail glue if you don’t feel comfortable using it. But either one works the same! When you’ve finished just add a base coat and your favorite polish and its like it never happened!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial Let me know if this works for you! I love the zebra rug and ghost chair combo. The pops of orange and cowboy decor are a nod to Cortney’s college, Oklahoma State.

Have you been waiting with baited breath to get a peek at the Pelley’s house? The wait is over. Cortney and Alex built this amazing house in Fort Worth during the year after their wedding, and since they didn’t live together before their wedding, this was their first experience with “blending” their lifestyles! Um… success. (You’ll see in a second if you haven’t already scrolled the heck out of this page.) Alex turned over the decorating reigns 100%, knowing that home decor is one of his wife’s major passions. (Good man, Alex.) Cortney worked hard to combine his love of the traditional with her modern flair, and their home has lots of pops of color in each room that all complement the overall palette of the home. I love her best decorating tip: “Don’t buy off impulse. Buy life long pieces that can grow with you.” Kind of like my mom’s advice, “If you can afford it today, and it fits in your car, don’t buy it.” Ok, drumroll, and presenting… Casa de Pelley!

Anyone else feeling a little <del>inspired to get their sh*t together </del> disorganized? I totally attacked my Pinterest last night, in the hopes that if I got that organized it would make me feel like Cortney. Not so much. But here are some of her style favorites, secrets, and obsessions, so we can all channel a bit of her in our day!

1) Who is your style icon? Tory Burch blended with Marc Jacobs. I’m definitely preppy with a touch of spunk. I love to add something unexpected to my wardrobe either with a pop of color or interesting print.

2) What is your favorite color combination? Gold and Silver, I love the combination of high shine with rough metal. I incorporate this combo into my home and wardrobe on a regular basis.

3) What outfit is your go-to? Denim shirt partnered with black jeans, a maxi skirt or printed shorts and usually a colorful scarf.

4) What do you never leave home without? Wedding Band! Sadly I don’t carry a purse on a regular basis. I live with my wallet on my keys and chapstick in my car.

5) What do you collect? Cowboy Boots

6) What are your beauty must-haves and secrets? I can’t live without Bobby Browns BB Crème and Nars Blush. I still use proactive like a HS sophomore but I’ve never broken out and it works well with my sensitive skin plus what’s better than having your skin care delivered to you monthly!

7) What’s on your DVR? RHWOC, RHWBH, Revenge, Nashville, It’s a Brad Brad World and Lastly Girls.

8 )What’s your morning routine? After making the bed. Its off to the gym or a tennis match then I come home to start my day by feeding our dog Charley, starting some laundry, showering and picking up the house.
9) What items are on your wishlist? Hermes Handbag, Leotine Linens and a Veueve Clicquot Fridge…Preferably filled!

10) How do you spend a Sunday? Our typical Sunday when at home is Church, Brunch with friends then an adventurous afternoon of golf, tennis, long walk with Charley (our dog), etc. Sometimes, but not too often, we just hang out and watch a movie

A Saturday night? You can find us with our friends on a Saturday night…we are both extremely social and love spending time with our friends. Our group typically ends the night out with a brandy freeze at the Country Club.

11) What’s your favorite meal? Fillet Oscar with Mashed Sweet Potatoes and Aspargus. Your husbands? Quail and Cheddar Grits.

12) Where is one place that you would you love to live? I love FTW and wouldn’t want to live permanently anywhere else but I would love another home in New York. I always wanted to live there as a child but now think it’s definitely better to just spend time there!
