Obama hassled for 'Good looking' remark to female Atty. General at event

Strange, this is actually news folks. According to Newser, U.S President Barack Obama appeared at a fundraiser last night to much of his dismay, and barking criticism. The President apparently made a comment about a Kamela Harris, a female Attorney General. The reactions:

Robin Abcarian for the Los Angeles Times: “Does merely stating the obvious make the president sexist? More wolfish than sexist, I’d say. And this may be a little problem he needs to work on.”
Jonathan Chait for New York Mag, in a piece titled “Obama in Need of Gender-Sensitivity Training”: “Women have a hard time being judged purely on their merits. Discussing their appearance in the context of evaluating their job performance makes it worse. … For a president who has become a cultural model for many of his supporters in so many other ways, the example he’s setting here is disgraceful.”
Jonathan Allen for Politico: “Without a doubt, Obama’s subject matter seemed more suited to the pages ofMaxim magazine—which has actually published a list of the world’s hottest female politicians—than a political event.”

Florida Town Plagued by 4th Sinkhole?

Seffner just can’t catch a break

(Newser) – If you were considering moving to Seffner, Florida, we’d advise you to look elsewhere. Yet another sinkhole may have struck in the town; it’s still unconfirmed, but the possibility forced two families to evacuate last night. Seffner’s first sinkhole killed a 37-year-old man; its second appeared just three miles away; and its third opened up between two homes. In the latest case, residents called 911 when a duplex’s floor buckled, its walls cracking, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

No visible sinkhole appeared, but rescue crews identified soft soil around the home, spurring the evacuation. A crew will today sample the soil beneath the duplex, which sits about three miles from the first sinkhole. The news is scary but not exactly surprising: Sinkholes plague the state by the thousands. They’re a problem in China, too: A security guard was sucked into a four-story-deep sinkhole on the streets of Shenzhen last night, the South China Morning Post reports. The 25-year-old man was dead by the time police arrived, the International Business Times reports. The entire incident was caught on video.
