This just proves that there is no brain activity in the media formerly known as mainstream. They are doing the usual liberal “you didn’t hear me say what you heard me say” routine, a.k.a. REVISIONIST HISTORY. First, Obama and the state run media sell Stimulus 1 as “shovel ready” for immediate results in the economy. Now they are saying they didn’t say that. Sorry, we have it on record. Then you get this real gem of sound logic from the NY Times.

They also knew that the size of the final package – which was whittled down in part to ensure its passage in Congress – was not big enough to completely offset the projected drop in the nation’s economic output, which administration officials believed at the time would perform at $2 trillion below its capacity over the next two years.

Let me see if I can simplify their logic for you. I have a one gallon bucket (representing the economy). That bucket gets a hole in it and begins to lose water (wealth and jobs). Rather than drilling for more water (cutting taxes and removing impediments to businesses that create jobs and wealth), I will dip water from the bucket and pour it right back into the bucket and say that I am refilling it (the “stimulus” money was taken from the “bucket” of our economy without creating more jobs or wealth). The bucket continues to leak, and even more water is evaporating with each dip from the bucket. Got it?

Media Campaigning for Second Stimulus Package

By Candance Moore

Created 2009-10-13 14:21

Eight months after President Obama signed a stimulus package worth $787 billion, less than half the funds [1] have been spent and nearly half [2] of Americans want the remainder to be repealed.Of course, that hasn’t stopped the mainstream media from pushing for more.

Recall that before the first bill was even signed, Reuters [3] hailed a statement from billionaire George Soros warning that it wouldn’t be enough. In July, NewYork Times columnist Paul Krugman called the bill [4] “inadequate” and bemoaned fiscal conservatives for their “bittter and unrelenting” skepticism.

Now, despite unemployment approaching double digits [5], the federal deficit [6] exploding, and rumors flying that the world is dumping its dollars [7], liberal newpapers have unabashasedly increased their call for more “stimulus.”

An October 6 article [8] from the NY Times first provided some revisionist history to advance the fiscally-challenged cause:

The stimulus was never intended to be a put-shovels-in-the-hands-of-people-on-relief type of New Deal public works program: it was, rather, a combination of tax cuts, aid to states and money for infrastructure projects that would be put out for bid to private contractors and take time to get going.

Those of us with functioning memories know that President Obama did [9] sell the stimulus as a “shovel ready” program. But no matter to the Times.

Aside from that detail, what came next in the article was the real jaw dropper:

They also knew that the size of the final package – which was whittled down in part to ensure its passage in Congress – was not big enough to completely offset the projected drop in the nation’s economic output, which administration officials believed at the time would perform at $2 trillion below its capacity over the next two years.

Yes, according to the Times, an effective stimulus package would have pumped $2 trillion into the economy. Considering that the entire national debt currently stands [10] around $12 trillion, that much spending would increase it tremendously.

Regardless, the Washington Post [11] continued the drumbeat the very next day:

But this has been such a profound, job-destroying recession that even $787 billion wasn’t sufficient. And changes made to secure some bipartisan support in the Senate last February rendered the stimulus less effective than it might have been…The White House is in the position of defending the stimulus and urging that we do more.

And don’t look now, but Congress appears to be working on doing more. The AP noted [12] on October 8 that politicians are trying to craft a new stimulus without actually calling it a stimulus.

Not to worry, for with media that are clearly enthusiastic about more spending, President Obama should have no problem finding support for the new measure irrespective of the name it’s given.

After all, to today’s so-called journalists, a stimulus by any other name would smell as sweet.

The superiority complex that has been developed by muslim clerics in the minds of muslim community all over the world through their lectures and writings have damaged the community itself. In a recently survey that I carried out clearly indicates almost 80% of global muslim community believe that they are the most superior group among all human beings. Since, just for the fact that they are muslims, they are going to inherit the paradise after their death. They consider members of other communities to be ”kafirs”, leading them to Hell just because they are non-muslims.

When I questioned them why do they consider themselves muslims ? The answer was illogical, baseless and vague. They think they are followers of Islam as they’ve read the kalma, but they don’t know that as per the Quran, the criteria to become a muslim is not just confined to reading kalma. When I asked them why do they think that only muslims will inherit the Paradise , they answered that it is written in the Qur’an, whereas it is nowhere mentioned in the Quran. When I asked them why do they think that all other communities are kafirs, they gave again an answer that contradicts the Quran. This happens because most of the muslim clerics and theologians have projected this wrong picture of Islam and has covered the ideology of Islam with all whims and fancies of their own. This is not the Islam that was preached by Muhammad(SAW) from the Qur’an.

The Qur’an gives a different picture of Islam and the community of muslims give a different picture. Therefore, muslims all over the world are in total loss and have lost honour, respect and reputation that used to be there in time of Muhammad(SAW) –the Apostle of Allah(The God).

I believe that there are transparent people in all communities of the World and they are on the right track though it is also true that there are corrupted people in every community. The transparent and hatredfree minds should come together and build up a balanced community known as Muslimuun( the plural form of Muslim)to develop Peace by taking all endeavour to arrest disturbances. They should try to connect all human beings to one another and promote the ideology of the Qur’an to develop a balanced society and establish Equity and Justice on Earth. This is what has been indicated in the Quran. These people can rightly be called as muslims as per the Qur’an.

The Arabic word ‘Salaam’ means peace. One of the attributes and names of Allah is ‘As- Salaam’ that means ‘The Peace’. The promoters of peace can be rightly called as ‘Muslimuun’( the plural form of muslim).Even the followers of the apostle ABRAHAM are referred to as ‘Muslimuun’ in the Qur’an.

I believe that if the Qur’an is explored in its real meanings that would benefit the world that no other thing can do. It is the book of Allah(The God) for all humanbeings and is not a personal property of the muslim community.

(Allah means Al –Ilah i.e The Almighty)

Allah (The God ) doesnot hint at the building up of a Muslim Government but hints at the building up of good citizens who in future would build up a good governance.Need of the hour is to realize that good governance can only be given by good citizens. A government means a collection of individuals working on behalf of the citizens but if those citizens are not transparent in their character they would fail to create a transparent and good governance and this is the reality that the world is facing today. It is time to realize this point and stand correct.

Checa el comentario allá: “I keep saying that the sexy job in the next 10 years will be statisticians,” said Hal Varian, chief economist at Google. “And I’m not kidding.”

Observa el siguiente enunciado allá mismo: For example, Ms. Grimes worked on an algorithm to fine-tune Google’s crawler software, which roams the Web to constantly update its search index. The model increased the chances that the crawler would scan frequently updated Web pages and make fewer trips to more static ones.

It is important to be an agreeable, or at least inoffensive, guest.

But most anyone can be invited to a social function; it is more difficult to plan an event and nearly impossible to effectuate it without a hitch.

I commend any who host dinner parties and celebrations, honoring others by giving of themselves and risking unattendance or ingratitude for their labor.
Santiago Calatrava, the world-renowned architect who has designed some of the most beautiful structures of our time, will be the subject of a new exhibition, Santiago Calatrava: World Trade Center Transportation Hub from May 9, 2009.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey commissioned Santiago Calatrava, S.A. to design the project in association with Downtown Design Partnership, a joint venture of DMJM + Harris and STV Group, Inc. In January 2004, when Santiago Calatrava unveiled his plans for the transportation hub, the daring design was seen as a symbol of renewal and hope after the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Since then, Santiago Calatrava has recommended some adjustments to the design to save time and money while preserving the overall integrity of the original design. The exhibition will be an opportunity for commuters, subway riders and pedestrians to see that Calatrava’s design has transcended the complex challenges of the site and to view the development of this soaring, spectacular design which will significantly improve mass-transit connections across Lower Manhattan.

Santiago Calatrava: World Trade Center Transportation Hub will showcase architectural models along with a multimedia presentation and reinforce the evocative image of “a bird being released from a child’s hand”. This exhibition, on view through August 31, 2009, will also present selected American projects of Santiago Calatrava’s celebrated buildings. http://www.spanishinstitute.org/

Nevermind that bring the change jar to Safeway- dig through your modern art collection and these dudes will loan you a 10 million. They say it’s discreet – not so sure when NYT runs a story on who, what, where – and the loans have to be registered. That’s some fuzzy discretion.

I was still looking for API’s for to create a ‘Choosy‘ for windows and bumped into the Kiva API at the Ajaxian’s blog and just wondered what ‘Making a difference with a new API‘ meant. Here my mouse wanders away..

Kiva is ‘the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website‘.

Visitors to Kiva on the web get to meet real entrepreneurs with real yet small needs from around the world, I saw an entrepreneur who was 22 years from Peru and needs $625 to upgrade her bakery. You can donate small amounts starting at $25 to upto the total amount required by the person you wish to support. NewYork Times rated the Kiva as one of the top ideas in 2006.

The image below from Kiva’s site shows how it works.

Kiva Cycle (From Kiva Site)

So, please visit their site and if you like the idea donate. I just did.

BTW, Kiva API is what Kiva published so that you can query the Kiva database.

If my mouse continues to wander at this rate, I do not know when I would get to complete my little app I am planning to develop. But I am not complaining, thanks to my mouse.. I get to see this and let you also know.

The article Advertisers face Hurdles on Social Networking Sites in The New York Times is once again

The article Advertisers face Hurdles on Social Networking Sites in The New York Times is once again bringing to light on the fact that putting up banner ads and fan page in social networking sites need not be entirely successful. Being a social media evangelist myself, i echo same point here as well.

Putting up in-expensive banner ads or creating a fan page is not good enough. The users will sign up/become a member of the fan page just to show their solidarity to the brand. Fair enough. But that is not branding .

Branding is all about reinforcing the name of an existing brand and the product or luring in new customers to buy the brand. To put in simple language , that is. Bottom line .. all this is done is to increase sales. Dynamic banner ads is not the solution for that .

One thing is that social media marketing and networks are at a very nascent stage. In order to leverage social media companies should find much better ways to use social networks in branding and lead generation.

One good way is to start a blog ,connect with relevant bloggers and run a viral campaign. Implement multiple viral/buzz/online word of mouth marketing campaigns and learn from trial and error method. But make sure there is one “BIg IDEA” behind every campaign which is run. For this , the marketing teams should innovate and launch highly customized products to users and propagate it without being intrusive and irritating.

How do you organize information? Once you do that, what kind of story does it tell your audience? I

How do you organize information? Once you do that, what kind of story does it tell your audience?

I visited The New York Times‘ building yesterday to check out what’s they call the ‘Movable Type‘ display in the lobby. Couldn’t help noticing the new building since my hotel was just a few blocks from this modern steely landmark. (The stunt a few weeks ago gave me even more reason to visit, although the panels were the real draw.) It takes the old idea of lead-based movable type and interprets it for the digital world where type is on the move, in and out of people’s lives.

The fluorescent panels at the Times building are stunning in their simplicity, considering the complex technology behind them. They are constantly being updated with bits of information coursing through the veins of the news organization -snippets of letters to the editor, comments on blogs, obituaries, headlines, search queries, sports results, politics…

For the past few weeks I have been photographing information panels -the analog, the dynamic, the sombre, and the marketing kind. Below are some of them:

The first is at Penn Station, NY, the second is from the Apple store on 5th Avenue, and the third is a section of the panels at The New York Times. Or take this fourth panel, made of granite. It is one section of the highly charged 246-foot Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC.

It is not just a list of fallen soldiers. The names are organized according to the day they lost their lives, with a legend next to each name so that a family member, or someone who served at that time could get a broader story.

The design of the wall itself is rich in meaning. It’s impossible to not be moved when you look at each name and read into it your own version of the story. If you look close, you’ll notice the panel reflects the Washington Memorial.

Whatever may have been the intention, the BCCI have hit the bulls eye with the IPL. The Twenty20 lea

Whatever may have been the intention, the BCCI have hit the bulls eye with the IPL. The Twenty20 league has been a runaway success accross India and also among the other cricket playing nations. I was rather surprised to see few articles regarding the multi million dollar league in few news papers in America too like Washington Post and Newyork Times. This shows that anything which is packaged and presented well will appeal to the audience. Like most of people I too was little bit skeptical about the launch of IPL due to the glamour of the Bollywood associated with it. I was also worried regarding the quality of cricket to be played in the IPL.

After 21 games into the league I am just blown away by the commitment shown by the players towards this league and the competition has been top notch. The players seem to be enjoying playing with each other and sharing dressing rooms with their so called rivals just few months ago. I was always fascinated by the thought of seeing a scoreboard which reads Smith c Tendulkar b pollock, this can be a reallity in IPL. Yes there has been some controversies in the past few weeks but we can term those as a teething problem for the league.

IPL surely is a boon for cricket lovers. The game lasts only for 3 hours in total and you get to see stars from all around the world under the same roof. The games have been exciting, the players have been wonderful and overall the league has been a success. I just hope that revenue gained from the IPL is channelized in a proper way to improve the domestic cricket standards in India and making that more interesting. Well all in all this has been a successful venture by the BCCI.

So like it or not Twenty20 and IPL are here to stay.

Lo so.” .

Guantanamo credo..

mah..

ABD’nin New York Times gazetesi seçimlerde kadın adayların çok ses getiremeyeceğini iddia etti ve genç Türk seçmenlerin internet ortamında ateşli siyasi tartışmalar gerçekleştirdiğini yazdı. NYT “Genç Türkler internette oy mücadelesi veriyor” adlı haberinde, ailelerin gençlerin siyasete “bulaşmasına” izin vermemesi yüzünden bu seçmen grubunun Youtube’da ve sohbet odalarında fikirlerini tartıştığını yazdı.

22 Temmuz seçimlerinde yüzbinlerce genç seçmenin ilk defa oy kullanacağını belirten makale, AKP’nin başarısında bu seçmen grubunun etkisinin belirleyici olacağını vurguladı. NYT, yapılan anketlerde AKP’nin oy oranı yüzde 40’ın üzerinde görünse de, internetteki genç seçmenin AKP’ye güvenmediğini iddia etti.

     ‘KADIN VEKİL SAYISI ARTMAYACAK’
NYT, kadın adaylarla ilgili haberinde de, seçimin Meclis’teki kadın milletvekili sayısını arttırmayacağını yazdı. Gazete, aktivistlerin kadın milletvekili sayısında 2002’deki yüzde 4,4 oranından yüzde 10’a yükselmesini hedeflediğini, fakat kadın adayların sayısının azlığı ve listelerde geride bulunmasının seçilmelerine engel olduğunu vurguladı.

NYT ayrıca, “Türk kadınlarının birçoğu akademi ve hukuk dünyasında önemli pozisyonlara sahip olsa da, kırsaldaki milyonlarca eğitimsiz kadın reformlardan faydalanamadı” ifadesine yer verdi.

AKP TÜRKİYE’NİN YENİ ORTA SINIFINI TEMSİL EDİYOR
Ünlü İngiliz gazetesi The Guardian muhabiri Ian Traynor yayınladığı Türkiye raporunda ilginç detaylara yer verdi.
