As much as I love making lists and preparing them graphically (well, WordPress doesn’t give me as many options as InDesign or Illustator), the chore of preparing the lists is an interesting yet time-consuming and annoying process, in particular this year, with all the stuff released this year. But here we go, the best singles and albums of the year:

Top 10 Singles of 2008

1. RED CLIFF – Shin, Sen - alan

#15 (Oricon weekly)

Not much of a shocker, I guess, considering I am an outspoken alan addict. I wasn’t an alan fan until Kaze no Tegami, but then RED CLIFF – Shin, Sen - came along and allowed me to appreciate her other singles. The title track is much more than just epic, it’s one of the most gorgeous ballads Japan has ever produced. And the B-Side, the orchestral version of her debut single, is almost just as good. Although I did protest against this song (and I haven’t changed my opinion), it’s an excellent song and a high-quality B-Side. Any track which is my favorite for almost four months is worth it.

2. Aijou Nichika

This was a close call. While none of the songs needed improvement to be absolutely and utterly amazing, but I just didn’t get the same powerful feeling I get when I listen to RED CLIFF – Shin, Sen -. Nonetheless, Aijou is another step ahead for Nichika, and both songs are of the highest quality. I really enjoy the vibrant mesmerizing sound all of Nichika’s tracks are, and this song really drives that to an extreme. A must-hear for everyone.

3. Atarashii Mizu Nichika

did not chart

Yes, Nichika gets two spots, and they’re successive. But I just can’t help it, this single is just so good. When I first heard it, it went straight into my “best of j-pop” playlist on iTunes and it has stayed there ever since. This song is excellent in all fields, melody, vocals, lyrics and even the PV is excellent (not eye-catching, but just very smart). This is another song that everyone should listen to, and it’s available on the internet, if that’s what you’re planning on downloading it.

4. romantic Rie fu

#100 (Oricon weekly)

This one can’t be much of a shocker either. Rie fu surprised everyone with this single, being pretty much the complete opposite to her conservative folk song style. But, nonetheless, she was able to perform excellently (all those who say she sounds bad on this song are crazy). A collaboration with m-flo’s producer didn’t sound good at first, but this single is definitely one of her best singles, and also worth the wait. Can’t wait for PRESENT, and it sounds like she’ll be working with the same producer.

5. Nexus 4/Shine L’Arc-en-Ciel

This single is what got me back into them after listening to Lost Heaven and Link on eternal repeat for weeks, and it was quite the double A-Side. While Nexus 4 isn’t what L’Arc should be doing with their talent, Shine definitely is. This single showcased a complete overhaul of L’Arc’s more classical rock-like music. Their previous single, Drink it Down, was so dark that it wasn’t really a surprise for them to go with a lighter style of music for this one. I hope they fall out of that hiatus fast!

6. PAPERMOON Tommy heavenly6

This song is better than Nexus 4/Shine, but I gave that one the advantage because I liked it for a far longer time, and the B-Side was pretty bad. While PAPERMOON is a great song, I only loved it a lot for a few days before it became old. But I still think this song is really good and even better than the stuff she released for Heavy Starry Heavenly (maybe I’m Gonna SCREAM+ is better, but still). If you like rock in the least and still haven’t heard this song, shame on you.

7. TABOO Koda Kumi

Insanely addctive, perfect, her best in a while, sexy, and provocative. Although I don’t think Kuu is worth much attention, this single definitely is. The PV was an internet phenomenon for a while, although I’m surprised all the ladies that felt offended about her comment in January weren’t offended by the regular (i.e. slutty) version of the PV. Ironic, no? But otherwise, this song really does kick some ass and I hope her next album delivers.

8. Atarashii Hibi/Ougon no Tsuki Every Little Thing

Atarashii Hibi/Ougon no Tsuki may seem as a surprise, but both songs are so irresistibly catchy and happy that they had to get into the top 10 of 2008. I prefer Sakurabito and other Door era singles, but this single still remains one of my all-time favorites, and was the song that got me into them.

9. fairytale Kalafina

While the B-Side being the A-Side annoys me, this is Kalafina’s best offering yet, featuring a latin choir music-inspired A-Side and a Chinese classical music-inspired B-Side. It differs from their two previous singles since it doesn’t feature prominent dance beats, but that’s all for the better. I just hope that they continue their work after Kara no Kyoukai is finished.

10. Winter Love Story Jyongri

What I find great about this single is that all of the songs are on par. That may not necessarily be a good thing, but in this case, it is, since the B-Sides are just as good as the A-Side, perhaps even better. Winter Love Story was a nice R&B-inspired ballad, but the two ballad B-Sides were gorgeous. As I previously said, this is the best winter single of 2008.

Top 10 Albums of 2008

1. Nichika Nichika

failed to chart

One word: flawless. Another word: grandiose. It’s not for no reason that I gave Nichika’s self-titled debut not five but six stars: this album is the best album I’ve ever heard. There is a maintained flow even though each track offers a distinct flavor. But with all those great singles, what could you expect?

2. Sing to the Sky Ayaka

It’s surprising this album only reached #2 when her debut, First Message, reached #1, considering this album is much better. While there are two or three tracks that may require improvement, this album was the best album for the year for me until I heard Nichika.

3. Van. Tomiko Van

This was one of the pleasant surprises of the year, Tomiko Van’s first single-preceded album, which was long overdue, after those two cover albums (which I didn’t very much enjoy). 

4. HEART STATION Utada Hikaru

#1

I did criticize this album a lot when I reviewed it, but it remains one of my personal favorites of 2008. It does contain a lot of synth (too much, perhaps), but the other aspects of the songs are all perfect. This could’ve been the year’s top album, but something was missing.

5. GUILTY Ayumi Hamasaki

Her best, by far. GUILTY was the beginning of what perhaps could be called Ayumi Hamasaki’s most unproductive year, but that doesn’t make this album bad; quite to contrary. I like the epic feel of this album, the grunge, the sadness, and the power of it.

6. VOICE Mika Nakashima

#1

This was one breathtaking album, despite the fact that it was composed of, for the most part, pre-recorded songs. But with gorgeous album tracks like TRUST YOUR VOICE and Koe, you’ve got yourself one of Mika’s best albums yet.

7. Supreme Show Ami Suzuki

This was the techno album of the year, even better than Perfume’s GAME, I dare say. The album was diverse, interesting and techno goodness. I said that it doesn’t deserve “best album of 2008″, but it still deserves a place in this list.

8. LOVE LETTER Ai Otsuka

Another album that was released this year that is the artist’s best but didn’t make it to the habitual #1. LOVE LETTER struck me with the lack of cutesy Ai and the more mature themes and sounds. She should stick with this.

9. Flare Hitomi Shimatani

This one might get strong objection, but I do have to say that Flare has its charming points. Alright, so songs like Taiyou no Flare and Ame no Hi ni wa Ame no Naka wo (bla, bla, bla) are pretty weak, but I like a lot of the new songs.

NUDY SHOW! Anna Tsuchiya

Despite its weaknesses, NUDY SHOW! is another album whose charm won me over. There are a decent amount of weak tracks, but tracks like Style and GINGER brought some eccentric flavor which I really liked.

So that’s it! The 2008 reviews are finally finished. From now on, I’ll have a bunch of features and I’ll review GIRL NEXT DOOR’s self-titled debut, until Gackt’s GHOST comes out on the 21st. I’ll come back later when I get Adobe CS4 (I changed computers, and Adobe is smarter than I thought with installing the same program on two computers) to make these posts look a little bit better, but that may take some time. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed these posts. Here’s to a great 2008 and hoping that 2009 will serve us just as well!

Do rankingu zalicza się wszystko co zapadło mi w pamięć, tak więc mogą się tu znaleźć przełomowe informacje, sceny z mangi i anime, itd. – ważne żeby było to coś znamienitego, pamiętliwego, wyróżniającego się.

Wydarzenie: Singiel “Nexus 4″ L’Arc~en~Ciel

Nie byłabym sobą jeśli w wydarzeniach 2008 roku nie wspomniałabym słowem o muzyce. Towarzyszy mi mi ona w praktycznie każdej minucie dnia, więc nie było możliwości, żeby ją tak po prostu pominąć Podchodząc do tematu ogólnie można stwierdzić, iż ostatnimi czasy uświadczyliśmy dużo świetnych piosenek (choćby soundtracki do anime), tyle że ja nie chcę mówić ogólnie. Chciałabym przedstawić singiel L’Arc~en~Ciel. Laruku to sztandar japońskiego rocka, który zna chyba każdy. Ja zakochałam się w nich po piosence “Lost Heaven” ^^ W sierpniu tego roku wydali singiel “Nexus 4″, który także podbił moje serce. Wpada w ucho, a do głosu Hyde’a nie wzdycham bo zajęłoby mi to za dużo miejsca xD Teledysk jest ciekawy i fajnie zrobiony – zresztą zobaczcie i przekonajcie się sami ^^

MIEJSCE 09:

Wydarzenie: Plotki o Final Fantasy XIII na PC

Jako miejsce dziewiąte postanowiłam umieścić nieprawdziwe plotki o tym jakoby Final Fantasy XIII miało ukazać się także na PC (oprócz PS3 i X360). Jest to wiadomość, która mną potrząsnęła i przyprawiła o palpitację serca! Byłam taka szczęśliwa! Przez moją głowę przelatywały setki myśli na czele z tymi, które krzyczały “po FF7, 8 i 9 nareszcie zagrasz w innego Finala!”, czy też “kupie oryginał nawet jeśli miałby kosztować 200zł!”. Niestety następnego dnia wylano mi na głowę wiadro zimnej wody ;( Wszystko okazało się nieprawdą. Cała ta afera okrutnie wbiła mi się w pamięć, to też zasługuje na miejsce w rankingu, nawet jeśli przyniosła ze sobą smutne informacje.

MIEJSCE 08:

Wydarzenie: “Vexille” w polskich kinach

Nie mogłabym o tym nie wspomnieć! Od czasu kiedy pare lat temu w naszych kinach wyświetlano “Appleseeda”, na wielkim ekranie nie mieliśmy okazji oglądać żadnego anime. Zmieniło się to kilka miesięcy temu, gdy miał swoją premierę “Vexille”. Jest to świetnie zrealizowane anime o mechach, którego niestety do tej pory nie udało mi się obejrzeć ;( Byłam wściekła kiedy okazało się, że bielski Kinoplex nie ma zamiaru Vexilla wyświetlać, ale i tak jest to szczęśliwe wydarzenie. Propagujmy w Polsce anime ile się da – to jest maleńki kamyczek, który może wywołać lawinę!

MIEJSCE 07:

Wydarzenie: Slayers Revolution – Odcinek 02

Slayers powrócili – jednym nowa seria się podobała innym nie. W każdym razie jedno jest pewne, Lina i spółka znów wywołali zamieszanie w naszym małym światku! Epizod drugi zapadł mi w pamięć z jednego ważnego powodu – prawdziwy Dragon Slave Że niby w pierwszym odcinku też był? Ale jaki – podróba jakaś! Nic nie brzmi tak pięknie dla maniaka Slayersów jak inkantacja “Ciemność ponad zmierzchem, szkarłat ponad płynącą krwią…” w ustach naszej małej, czerwonowłosej, rozszczekanej czarodziejki xD

MIEJSCE 06:

Wydarzenie: Full Metal Panic! na Hyperze

Szóste miejsce wywalczyła sobie telewizja Hyper. Podziwiam ich już od dawna, ponieważ jako jedyna polska stacja mają pasmo z anime i propagują kulturę japońską W tym roku puścili świetne Full Metal Panic! i za to dostają buziaka :* Niestety nie byłam w stanie zobaczyć całości, ale cóż – jakoś trzeba się z tym pogodzić (szczególnie, że dorwę się do tego inaczej xD). Tak w sumie to Hyper w pełni zasługuje za wyróżnienie nawet bez FMP, ponieważ niezawodnie od paru lat dostarczają nam nowe anime. Może nie zawsze damy rade oglądać wszystkie odcinki (21:00 to problematyczna godzina), ale mamy tą świadomość, że ktoś docenia dzieło Japończyków i chce je propagować. Dziękujmy im za to ^^ Jest jeszcze jedna kwestia – dzięki Hyperowi możemy odkryć wiele tytułów, na które normalnie nie zwrócilibyśmy uwagi, a w pełni na to zasługują!

MIEJSCE 05:

Wydarzenie: Tsubasa Tokyo Revelation – OAV 02

Oglądanie tych OVA było męczarnią dla mojej psychiki – do tej pory się zastanawiam jakim cudem nie zwariowałam musząc czekać 2 miesiące na kolejny odcinek xD To część druga Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations najbardziej zapadła mi w pamięć. Scena pojedynku prawdziwego Syaorana z klonem jest tak niesamowite, że przewijałam ją chyba ze 100 razy, aby móc znów nacieszyć oczy pięknem animacji i fajerwerkami kolorów (ten jeden odcinek był lepszy niż całe poprzednie sezony TV). To w tym momencie jest nam ujawniony malutki fragmencik “prawdy” odnośnie tej serii. Jest jednak jeden ważny powód, dla którego TTR znalazło się na piątym miejscu i jest nim “Raitei Shourai”. Kiedy zobaczyłam jak z ręki prawdziwego Syaorana wyłania się miecz Syaorana z CCS, a następnie usłyszałam słowa przywołujące boga piorunów – moim krzykom radości nie było końca Głośne KYYYYYAAAAAAAAAA rozniosło się po domu, ponieważ tak bardzo kocham CCSa, a teraz moje uczucia wróciły do mnie ze zdwojoną siłą ^^

MIEJSCE 04:

Wydarzenie: Shinshi Doumei Cross Special Side Story

Shinshi Doumei Cross się skończył, ale pozostawił po sobie pewien niedosyt. Fanom Pani Tanemury nie bardzo podobał się powrót Shizumasy, ponieważ wtedy ślub Haine i Takanariego wydawał się naciągany i nieprawdziwy. Wszyscy chcieli szczęścia tej dwójki, a tu nagle dostajemy powrót miłosnego trójkącika i to tuż po znamienitym “tak”. Całe szczęście Arinacchi chciała zadowolić swoich czytelników i stworzyła “Special Side Story”, gdzie mogliśmy zobaczyć co stało się dalej z naszymi kochanymi bohaterami. Osobiście byłam zachwycona! Ten chapterek jest zabawny, słodziutki i uroczy, czyli dokładnie taki jaki miał być koniec Shinkuro. Słowa Haine “Miej trochę wiary” rozwiązują zaś nasze uczuciowe obawy ^^

MIEJSCE 03:

Wydarzenie: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle – rozdział 189

Znów wracamy do TRC Postanowiłam sobie, ze kiedy na mojej półeczce będzie stała cała kolekcja tej mangi. Jednak zanim do tego dojdzie, pozachwycajmy się chapterem 189, w którym odkrywamy pewną ważną tajemnice – prawdziwy Syaoran, bohater Tsubasy, to tak naprawdę syn Syaorana i Sakury z Card Captor Sakury! Okropnie się cieszyłam kiedy o tym przeczytałam Dlaczego? Bo to oznacza, że tamta dwójka się pobrała i w dodatku miała dziecko – chłopczyka ^^ To jest tak urocza wizja, że aż zapiera dech w piersiach. Wyjaśnia to także wiele spraw. Syaoran (TRC) odziedziczył po tacie miecz i jego zdolności magiczne, zaś po mamie ma wrodzoną uprzejmość. Teraz już wiemy dlaczego nie miał tego “pazurka” jeśli chodzi o charakter, a do którego przyzwyczaiła nas wersja CCS – po prostu nie był tą osobą, za którą go braliśmy

MIEJSCE 02:

Wydarzenie: Shugo Chara! – rozdział 28

Chapter 28 jest majstersztykiem. Społeczeństwo shugo-charo-maniaków oszalało na jego punkcie już w chwili, kiedy zobaczyli wczesne zapowiedzi. Następnie trwało wielkie przeszukiwanie sieci w poszukiwaniu RAW skanów. Teraz zaś, kiedy wreszcie wyszło tłumaczenie, wszyscy czytają go po kilkanaście razy, aby nacieszyć oczy:
a) (fani Tadamu) wyznaniem miłosnym Tadase, w którym stwierdza, że lubi Amu za nią samą, a nie z powodu Amulet Heart.
b) (fani Amuto) sceną, w której Ikuto leży w łóżku z Amu i się do niej tuli, po czym na pytanie czy ma dziewczynę, którą lubi odpowiada “Tak, Ciebie”.
Ja należę do odłamu b). Może nie jestem maniakiem (przeczytałam ch.28 tylko raz ), ale i tak uważam, iż jest to najbardziej uroczy rozdział tego roku ^^

MIEJSCE 01:

Wydarzenie: Zapowiedź ramake’u anime FullMetal Alchemist na podstawie mangi

Nie mogło być inaczej – pierwsze miejsce zdobyła zapowiedź Full Metal Alchemist 2! Jestem niezaprzeczalną fanką tej serii – kupuję mangę, serię anime widziałam parę razy. Uwielbiam Eda i Ala, tak więc po wiadomości, że powstaje druga seria byłam tak szczęśliwa, że przez tydzień rodzina i przyjaciele zastanawiali się z jakiego powodu jestem taka uhahana xD FMA wywołało wielkie zamieszanie. Będzie, nie będzie, plotki, zdementowane plotki, zdementowanie zdementowanych plotek. Teraz już wiemy, że w kwietniu 2009 BONES postanowiło spełnić nasze życzenie ^^

Najważniejsze wspomnienia to ukończenie mangi Fruits Basket. Wywarła na mnie ogromne wrażenie i potrząsnęła porządnie moim postrzeganiem świata. Następnie będzie zamówienie pierwszych mang z zagranicy. Uwielbiam patrzeć na tego ślicznego Full Moon wo Sagashite ^^ Trzecia rzecz to obejrzenie Myself;Yourself – nigdy się tak nie popłakałam jak przy wyjeździe bliźniaków! ;( Mogę jeszcze dołożyć przeczytanie (na dniach) mangi Brilliant Magic – nie zdarzyło mi się jeszcze być tak wkurzonym po skończeniu czegoś! To okropne kiedy przewidzisz jak się wszystko skończy tak mniej więcej w połowie i dobrze wiesz, że nie jest to tak jakbyś Ty sobie tego życzył :/

Ale ogólnie rzecz biorąc można powiedzieć, że rok 2008 był udany dla przemysłu M&A. Wydaje się, że także w Polsce ta wielka machina zaczyna powolutku ruszać ^^

Możemy się z tego powodu tylko cieszyć i życzyć sobie, aby nadchodzący rok 2009 przyniósł nam tyle samo, albo i więcej radości!

Ja zaś z mojej strony chciałabym tylko zaznaczyć, że dziękuję za to, że jesteście ze mną – będę kontynuować moją pracę na tym blogu także w przyszłym roku i mam nadzieję, że będziecie mnie dalej wspierać ^^ Przepraszam za wszystkie głupoty, które pisałam, nieopanowany fangirlizm, nadużywanie słowa “uroczy”, czy też mało inteligentne wypowiedzi – postaram się poprawić i i być coraz lepszą w tym co robię – niech takie będzie moje postanowienie noworoczne

2. Shine

Nexus 4/Shine is L’Arc-en-Ciel’s 35th single as well as their second double A-Side, released on August 27th, 2008. It reached #2 on Oricon and has sold 133 856 copies.

Nexus 4 has a very adventurous spirit to it, something which the music video depicted very well (they attached the band to cords and had them stand on the edge of a building, which parts of the video show). The first verse wasn’t too great, but the chorus was just plain awesome. This kind of a single right after Drink it Down came as a surprise to me, as long as they don’t put Nexus 4 or Shine right after/before Drink it Down.

The second single, Shine, is much better in my view. Compared to Nexus 4, it’s similar but different, if you see what I mean. Whereas Shine is more of a romantic song, the theme for Nexus 4 is adventure; Shine sounds more progressive, and Nexus 4 is more on-off. The first verse was just plain cheesy (I want to shine on you, and always like the dazzling sun, I will defend you from all the darkness, this is the truth from my heart; there is nothing worse for me than this kind of lyrics), but the rest of the song was pretty nice. These two singles are unlike anything L’Arc-en-Ciel has ever done before, and I hope they go back, even though I liked both songs, to more mature-sounding songs, because these two sounded more like L’Arc-en-Ciel if you sent them back to their teen years.

La página L’Arcom.net nos ofrece la posibilidad de descargar un protector de pantalla de NEXUS 4/SHINE oficial no sin antes hacernos una pequeña prueba. El juego que nos propone se llama “Ai wo Sagashite” y se trata de encontrar un corazón clicando en la pantallita. Una vez lo encontréis (no es una gran hazaña) tendréis que clicar varias veces seguidas para pasar a la pantalla de descarga.

NOTA para los “curiosos”: si clicáis en la entrepierna del macaco, te saldrá un bocadillo con una X. Los japoneses están en todo y ya sabían que habría algún “curioso” XDDDD

¿Cómo acceder al juego?

En la pantalla principal de L’Arcom.net clicad en la flecha gris de abajo de todo. Si sabéis leer katakana es sencillo porque es la flecha al lado del letrerito en katakana “Ai Wo Sagashite”, justo debajo del letrero azul.

Hoy les quiero dejar el PV de L’Arc~en~Ciel – NEXUS 4 espero que les guste y lo disfrute, y si ya lo vamos a poner en DD para quienes lo quiera, eso lo aremos entre hoy y mañana mientras les dejo este PV.

Ayer L’arc~en~Ciel estuvo en el programa musical japonés “Music Fighter” para presentar su nuevo single, “Nexus 4″ ^^

El último videoclip de Laruku!

No, de nuevo no lo subiré… gomen ._., de todos modos tienen sitios de donde descargarlo (Yume no Sekai, JPOPSUKI, Foro Laruku, Hydeki J-Rock… y hasta para escoger XD).

Otro post de puras capturitas~

Llegué de la escuela y me topé con “PV NEXUS 4″ para descargar… lo bajé y… paso lo mismo que con SHINE.

Vemos a los larukus tocando en la orilla del techo de un edificio de quien sabe cuantos pisos, fín.

Realmente eso es todo xD, pero aún así es un PV diferente (de los demás que he visto de L’Arc) porque vemos escenas de la grabación (aún así, sólo están en la cima de un edificio… ok dejo eso xD).

Uhm… la canción parece de anime (al menos a mí me suena como de anime x3).

El PV me recordó un poco a DAYBREAK’S BELL… tal vez a DRINK IT DOWN por la forma en que se ve ó.ó.

Definitivamente me gustó ver la cara de Hyde cerca xD

Y me dió cosa lo de la altura… y ese Tetsu que a cada rato sacaba los pies x3
