After giving Ben a bunch of anime, he also wanted School Days after being intrigued by Yihong and I. Before I copied the anime, I always double check a few random episodes to make sure they’re OK.

This time was no exception, I clicked through some School Days episodes. It reminded me of a lot of things actually about this anime.

In fact, I’m quite surprised I never really posted any reviews about it – oh wait, I think on my old blog.. Nevermind.

So I feel like rambling: Meet Katsura Kotonoha~

Katsura Kotonoha - always have trouble spelling this.

Erm.. so why did I want to talk about her? Well she’s no where near my favourite anime characther(s). However, sometimes the feelings (sensibly) she had, the things she went through, I found myself being able to relate.

Perhaps her actions were just a visual representation of my emotions at the time when I watched this.

Let’s see.. Kotonoha is pretty much your class star, good grades, good mannerisms, subject to bullying etc etc..

After she started to date Makoto Itou, she began to develop strong feelings for him, and it got to a point where she was willing to do anything for him.

In a way it’s like a fast track of any serious relationship – after awhile being together with someone you would be willing to do almost anything for them, wouldn’t you? Well I know I did.

She also introduced to me a new term in the otaku world; yandere.

But it’s sad, imagine, if they were a real person (and please, these things do happen in real life, perhaps not as “yeah”, but they DO happen), so just imagine, if they were real – someone with a potential future ahead of her, and because of all this drama.. well.. wasted.

I don’t really know how people feel when they watch School Days, I know a lot of them just feel anger and hate towards Makoto, however, has anyone else ever stepped past that and felt sorry for Kotonoha?

Let’s face it, the one who was really suffering was Kotonoha, yes, maybe it was her fault that she didn’t give up, being given the circumstances she was put through, I don’t believe it would be easy for anyone.

It’s sad, and as a general note for any relationship, loyalty is still key, even if you cannot be loyal, at least be honest, and if you’re so bad you cannot do that..

.. at least be straight forward and let them know.

It’s a pity for Kotonoha, however, it was probably all over when she fell in love with Makoto.

Once again, not my favourite character, probably no where near, but I think she deserves some special mention.

Cowabunga dude!

From the 2009 Revenge of the Fallen line, Depthcharge here is amongst the initial wave of Scouts/Basics released for the line.

What can I say though? When I first saw Depthcharge in his robot mode, all I could focus on was the silly Kappa head. His head really does look like one of those Japanese platypus mythological creatures. And that’s the thing that’s kept me from getting Depthcharge for the longest time. I finally broke down and got him though, and aside from the head (I’m just not a fan of most movie toy heads), this guy is juuuuust peachy.

So, let’s get on with the review proper. We’ll start with the alt-mode, which is a nice boat. It’s well detailed, especially for a Basic. It’s got loads of little touches and that’s topped off with a really nice deco.

But the thing that impresses me the most is how compact it is. As you’ll see from the comparison pics, in robot mode, Depthcharge is large and in charge, but in boat mode, he’s shrunk down considerably next to Kamen Rider Knight.

So speaking of robot mode, Depthcharge looks good here too. The head’s a lost cause as I’ve already said, but that can be ignored. The upper body rocks, with great articulation, plenty of configuration options and even movable thumbs.

The lower body has a couple options for how you’d want to configure it. The regular boat-bell-bottom config is okay, but I just didn’t like the way the knees looked. So I actually prefer to twist his waist around so his knees would have a more animalistic look, as opposed to the official “broken by Shylocks” look.

Otherwise, articulation is impressive with ball jointed shoulders and hips, swivel biceps and thighs, double hinged elbows, knees, swivel waist and a plethora of hinges that make up Depthcharge’s feet.

No accessories, but eh, that’s standard nowadays.

My buyer beware would be regarding the ball joints. For my copy, the shoulders and shoulder pads were loose and required the Clear Nail Polish Solution, for a friend of mine, it’s the hips that are loose. Easy fixes, and they aren’t so loose as to be floppy. But it’s a consideration you should be aware of.

Overall
Depthcharge is an overall cool looking toy with plenty of articulation and fun factor. Unlike Rollbar or Knock Out, he’s got the “it” factor. I mentioned in the reviews for those guys that you should save your money for other, better and more exciting, RotF toys. Depthcharge is one such toy.

Recommended for all.

Pros: Looks good. Great articulation. Lots of options for lots of fun.
Cons: Kappa head design. Some ball joints may be loose and require fixing.

A very revealing episode on the events that surround Akira. They go to his old “mansion” which is massive and looks like a giant shopping mall. While Saki watches a French movie, the cop from last week follows Akira and beats him up, stealing his cell phone in the process. Reason? In order to get extra money to support his adultrated relationship. Akira’s pretty slick though, so he steals the cop’s badge in order to get to see him again to get his cell phone back. In addition, it seems that only the owners of the cell phone can command it to do anything, otherwise it’s like a doorstop.

When Akira calls the cop and agrees to meet him to “give him back his badge”, the cop runs into his wife – who received the text message that he meant to send to his lover. The cop gets Nice Boated, and by the time Akira gets to him he’s just minutes from dying. He explains that a bunch of others have the same powers/cell phones as him & Akira, and earlier he had revealed that once the money on the phone runs out, someone will kill him so he is fated to die either way. In addition Akira finds out that he collected a bunch of NEETs in order to kill them all in that massive shopping mall. That explains the photo he has of himself with a bunch of people in the background.

Saki ended up going home leaving a note with the dog that Akira is an ass. That dog has wings.

From this statement, Sos-dan takes the spotlight on being the so-called culprit for putting the video, which has the “Nice Boat” vibes.

Because of the negative feedbacks they received for the video, they removed the video from the Youtube. Is this an act of running away?

All in all, the damage is done. I’m sure the fans will be more wary of this company in the future (or perhaps they don’t).

Kadokawa has done it again!! On February 13th, Kadokawa has released a broadcast of parody of the famous anime. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. This parody is called Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuutsu. Before this video was broadcast, fans were hoping madly to see this anime but instead they were entertained with boats/yachts. It is obvious, that this is a rip-off from School Days ending incident ( Nice Boat ). Fans were outrage with this trickery. With a lot of so-called rumours, announcements with its last announcement on last week , Kadokawa never fail to fool the gullible fans especially the anime itself has such as insane level of fanbase.

So now I’m all caught up with screencaps! ^_^ At the moment I’m working on transliterating songs from Moetan which will take a bit to get all of them, but I have nothing better to do sooo yeah. After that I’ll do the songs from Higurashi too. Also soon I plan on watching Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan and also Dai Mahou Touge, so be on the lookout.

Girls, with cell phones? I can smell the originality!

Okay, I know, I’m REALLY scrapping the bottom of the barrel with this title. Let’s get started. (warning: review contains spoilers)

So, how did I like this anime? It sucks, hard. And let me explain why it sucks.

Meet Makoto:

His facial expression rarely changes

Makoto is secretly in love with a girl named Kotonoha, who he sees on the bus on his way to school often.

Now, let’s meet Kotonoha:

Kotonoha is a quiet girl who’s afraid of boys, despite her… uhm, “figure”. And since Makoto is too much of a pussy to talk to her, who’s going to bring these two together??

Meet Sekai:

Cheaper then surgery, at least

Sekai gets these two love birds together. But wait! She has a crush on Makoto! What’s going to happen??

Well, here’s the plot.
Right after Sekai gets these two teens together, they start dating. Makoto is quiet and shy, while Kotonoha is scared as shit to be around him (why she agreed to this, I haven’t a clue). Over time Kotonoha starts making sandwiches for Makoto, which I guess is a boyfriend/girlfriend activity. Now that I recall, she makes a whole box of sandwiches for him. Wow, what a lucky guy!

Hey Makoto! Do you like my sandwiches? Hey, listen!

She really starts to open up to him. After a little while, Makoto does to, when they go on their first date. So, how did their first date go? Well, Makoto just did stuff he wanted to do and Kotonoha followed and smiled, while she was really just upset. He even tries to kiss her afterwords, in which she freaks out and runs away (remember, she’s afraid of boys, this subject was pushed on Makoto early on). Now that I think about it, she puts up with alot. I pity her. Sekai finds out about this afterwords and gives Makoto a good lecture on how to treat girls. She then talks to Kotonoha, who reveals to Sekai that she’s afraid of boys because she’s afraid one of them is going to sexually assault her, due to her bust. During their date, Makoto did some pretty dirty things, so she should be worried. Sekai responds that “he’s a boy!” and then does this:

I see.

So then Kotonoha meets Makoto later on and she kisses him. Makes alot of sense.
Afterwords their relationship improves, but then Sekai decides to help Makoto with sex, which is a little abrupt but whatever, so they do that, in which Sekai orders Makoto to use her for practice. Now Makoto starts cheating on Kotonoha with Sekai, because Makoto can’t hold his raging hormones and Sekai has a crush on him. This happens around episode 4. How long does it take for Makoto to tell Kotonoha about this? Around episode 10. I’m not kidding.
Sometime around after he says that, he also becomes bored with Sekai and starts having sex with half of the girls in the school. Sekai is pissed when she finds out, and telling him that she’s pregnent and how he needs to step up. Kotonoha, on the other hand, is depressed (well, she was for awhile) and when Makoto figures that out and starts to finally feel guilty, he decides to do the unthinkable: He helps her out.
Kotonoha confronts Sekai while she was at Makoto’s house, in which she stated “You seduced Makoto, so it’s your fault. Now we’re together again, like it should’ve been”. Makoto doesn’t say anything. So, what does Sekai do?

A little after that, Kotonoha finds Makoto, so she puts his head into a bag and shows Sekai while on the rooftop of the school. She then tells Sekai that she believes she was just pretending to be pregnant. So, Kotonoha stabs Sekai in the stomach, and when looking into her stomach, she then says “I knew it”. I found this comical, because while Sekai was stabbing Makoto to death, she kept yelling “YOU ONLY THINK ABOUT YOURSELF!!!!!”. During the last scene of the anime, we see Kotonoha (I’m so sick of typing her name) on a Nice Boat, hugging Makoto’s head. And it ends.

To summarize all this, it’s a pointless story with worthless characters. Nothing else in this title (such as animation, music, pacing, etc) stand out. The only way I can imagine this being worse is if Uwe Boll decided to adapt it into a direct-to-DVD film. Actually, that might give it some hilariously bad cheesy moments which would improve things. Nevermind.

I don’t think I need to further explain why this show sucks.

There will be an another H-game adaptation this year. Its titled Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka. It’s centers about a guy named Junichi Nagase, who studies at a prestigious academy, and a transfer student named Yuuhi Katagiri, who just happens to be Junichi’s fiancée. The director of “School Days”, Keitaro Motonaga, will direct the animators at TNK, who also animated School Days (I hope there won’t be any nice boat sailing there…).

An guess what??? Rie Kugimiya (Shana, Louise) and Hirano Aya (Haruhi, Konata) will be together in this one nice boat!!! Besides from them, Tanaka Rie (Sugintou – Rozen Maiden), Hirohashi Ryou (Kyou – Clannad), Satsuki Yukino (Chidori – FMP!) and Inoue Marina (Kana – Minami-Ke) will be nice boating joining the powerhouse cast.

P.S. – I can’t think of a proper title for this entry so I just randomized this one… lols…
