One cured hangover later, I am back to give you the madde ass breakdown of last night’s HEADLINING show. That’s right, Nick and Mel headlined with some amazing talent. You got your Chris Clobber, Lauren Holiday, Chet Sewell, hosted by the fabulous Diane Jean. The gals played us yet another all music set and made all the girlies swoon.

Before the show, I was blessed to have been invited into the green room, which is always a treat. While Melanie was busy taking ridiculous pictures of me (which you can see on facebook), I got to meet Chet Sewell, who is the cutest gay boy I know. I think I maybe met his boyfriend too, who was quite lovely. We had a rousing conversation about the Great Castration by Pope Pius IX. Lovely boys really. I am sure they will like my upcoming personal post about Busts, Boobies, Butts and Beyond at the Getty. I digress, please forgive me. I’m gonna top off and go in. That’s what I said before the show!

Diane Jean opened the show with a great line about filling up the windshield washer in the car and how Chris likes to annouce “release the douche” and Mel’s girlfriend leans over to me (Yes, a girlfriend, I know right!) and says, while making a set of windsheild wipers with her hands “douch bag, douch bag”. It was funny, but I guess on that one maybe you had to be there. Anyway, out comes Lauren Holiday next. Totally cute! OMG. drool. Crap, wait a second……

Ok, so Lauren comes out on stage and is ADORABLE! There’s a picture of her on Nick and Mel’s page. She’s on her knees, on stage sorting pretend sex toys from her very real breakup. You can see the anguish in her face. It was hilarious. Chris Clobber who was out next graciously shared with us a few little police rhymes that I’d like to share with you. Everyone should put these in their wallet for future use. For example: they say, “click it or ticket” and “arrive alive”. Chris says, “wear a smile, don’t racial profile”. For real. Nice eh?! Then, there’s freakin Chet Sewell. I think he is the gayest person I know. For real. I bet he wears prettier panties than me. He was great, and unplugged.

Finally, our favorite entertainers EVER: Nick and Mel! So the gals opened their set with Drain Me, their divorce anthem. It’s not really, but it’s such a great song. Their next song was Come On Come On. Did I tell you before Nicki wrote part of that song at my house! So cool. You’re jealous aren’t you. Admit it, you are. I told you so. On the set goes with a fantastic version of Purple People Eater, my notes indicate two douche bags, but I am not sure why; then they played Happier in June followed by Come Get Your Stuff. Ironically, this time some one from the audience wants an ex to pick up their kid. Usually Pallie throws that one to us. I bet there is a story there. This is also the part of the show where I recall that some sex toys are dishwasher safe and made sure my pals could hear me. It was outta control. Thank Godde for designated drivers. Also, someone wanted an ex to pick up a drug called acyclovir, which apparently is for STD’s. I did not date that person. They closed the set with Midnight and Androgyny, which are two of my favorite songs in the universe right now.

After the show we got to mingle with everyone as usual and round out the night. The show was phenomenal. Can you believe Mel is so devoted she played the show sick. Poor girl. Someone heal her. Money always helps. Donations accepted. Visa too cheerfully accepted. mmm out.

You have to check out the new pics! There were a lot of happy feet. I should caution you, however that one should consume actual food before attending a Nick and Mel show. You see, I did not last evening and found myself tanked after about 2 glasses of wine. The show was still amazing of course and I will get to that when I recover. Until then, browse to your hearts content.

MMM out.

So, I heard that Nick and Mel are playing at LeStat’s this Saturday at 5 pm. Since things have been kinda quiet lately, I wasn’t sure this was true, but sure enough, their facebook page confirmed the rumor. I was beginning to wonder what was up. It turns out, they’ve been on the down low forging through some creative energy to bring you an all music set! How awesome is that? I’ll tell you, it’s as awesome as an 80 degree day on the beach in San Diego with Logo hosting the beach party!

Know what this means? It means get your ass (I mean BUTT because this is a family friendly event) out there to check them out. Be there early, buy a coffee (because we always support our local business) and grab a seat. I bet if you stick around after, you could get an autograph. Cool right. Right.

Oh my goodness, I almost forgot to tell you have to hear this new song Nick is working on. It’s freakin awesome. The vocals are killer and I have it on good authority that she’ll sing it at the show. It’s not a promise, since I haven’t actually heard it from Producer Mel, but I think it’s probably true.

I will be in attendance, of course, with camera, so I can post more pics on my pics and vids sight as soon as possible. Do you want to be famous? Come on out, I will post your pic too!

Also of note: the Adams Avenue Unplugged Festival. I wanted to flip you all the info since Nick & Mel were announced as one of the selected artists for The Adams Ave Unplugged festival! http://m.utsandiego.com/news/2012/mar/26/artists-announced-adams-avenue-unplugged-festival/

You’re welcome.

Here’s to keeping Up with Nick and Mel!

Hey there Nick and Mel followers! If any of you care, I thought I would share some details about ou

Hey there Nick and Mel followers! If any of you care, I thought I would share some details about our craft day and the “Un-Dress Rehearsal”, if you are interested. If you are not, stop reading right now and move on.

On Saturday, we had planned our craft day, to create merchandise to sell to you at the show. Hey, I gotta a joke, ready: There are three lushes in a room, who gets to cut out the stencil?” Answer: the little one. Ok, so you don’t have to get the joke, but I am the small one. After two hours, our time budget for making t-shirts was used up and I had only about 30 minutes to go. Boss Mel decides that Nick and I need to return the paint that sucked. There was grave monetary concern as to whether the craft store would take back an opened and partially used bottle of paint. I assured the masses that the very large, unnamed craft store in Mission Valley, would totally take the paint back, we just had to be prepared to use our “assets”. Sure enough, I get the dude to take the paint back, except that we didn’t have the right receipt! Bunch of geniuses we are. It takes so much effort to empire build, that it’s hard to remember some of the little things, ya know. Ok, so no big deal, we buy the paint we want and get out of the store. Not, however, before Nick found herself fondling 3 cans of glow in the dark bracelets that I had used as maracas. Further, I don’t care what anyone says, I did NOT accost that woman with a tree. I didn’t do it. Saturdays sesh was just about over by the time we got back, but not before we threw a few more awesome ideas around. I am keeping those a secret. We agreed to meet again on Sunday, after we each got a Saturday night out. Good times. Good times.

Now it’s Sunday, and since Mel doesn’t live in a mansion, we were sort of counting on the weather to cooperate, ya know. Well, it didn’t really. It was cold and rainy. The general notion, of four wine sipping, wanna be celesbos (ok three of those, and a cheerleader), in a tiny house, on a rainy Sunday, trying to make t-shirts seems daunting right? WRONG! Nothing will stop the building of our empire! Onward – Ho! Nick and Mel hooked me up outside to make the t-shirts. I am telling you, it was sweatshop conditions, but hella cool. Gigantor is holding up the tarp on one end, the new Jack Black on the other end, with the cheerleader inside passing out t-shirts, getting high on paint fumes. The rain was coming down, Nick was passing me the shirts, I was painting them, and Mel is yelling out colors of paint. It was a blast and we did it! So, in honor of the efforts of the crew, please buy a t-shirt. Seriously. BUY A T-SHIRT!There is a lot of Nick and Mel love in that t-shirt. Oh, and just because I can say it here, donate to the Nick and Mel recording fund. I think, this is yet to be confirmed, that $10 gets your name on the next album sleeve. Oh, wait, it’s a cd now? Mp3? Anyway, someone important will write your name somewhere as a “Philanthropist” or “Private Investor” or something like that.

Once we all got done with our paying gigs on Monday, Nick, Mel and I all showed up at Mel’s again for our dress rehearsal. However, I did have to go back to this unnamed craft store to return AGAIN the used paint. This time I got a chick at the counter, and managed to get them to refund the money to my credit card. For the record, it was purchased on someone else’s credit card. You do the math. Anyway, I was talking about the Un-dress rehearsal. Bet ya can’t guess why I call it that. Like my mother says, “I’ll give ya two hints and the first two don’t count.” I still don’t know what it means. I don’t want to give away any more details about the show since it’s so close and I really think you should go. Did I say that yet? Will you go if I tell you it’s free and amazingly awesome? Before I sign off, I want to tell you the funniest part of the night….when Nick hit her elbow on the hard maple, vintage chair and did the “Holy shit that hurt my elbow and it wasn’t funny dance”, twice.

Here’s to being Up With Nick and Mel….
