Blue Eagles update. Went to the Moro Lorenzo Sports center to do a shoot and caught a glimpse of the boys practicing, it was no surprise that Ryan Buenafe, Jerick Estrada, Art de la Cruz and Chris de Chavez were not there. What is now certain is that Ryan Buenafe will not be joining the Blue Eagles this season. In an interview, coach Norman Black stated that Buenafe will not be joining the season due to personal reasons. I guess the same can be said about Estrada, de la Cruz, and De Chavez as they are facing academic probation. What I don’t know however is where their place on the basketball program lies. Do they still practice with team B, or do they get bumped down to team B? If they do stay in Ateneo, there is still a chance that they can still play in the following season. On a more positive note, new editions Chris Newsome and Nico Elorde have already began training with the team. In fact I think that Newsome has played a few games with Team B in the Father Martin’s cup. Both of the summer recruits are serving their residency, Elorde who transferred from La Salle is serving one year, while the Fil-am from New Mexico is doing two years of residency. The Blue Eagles are currently preparing for their Filoil semifinal bout against the undefeated FEU Tamaraws on Friday, 4PM at the San Juan Arena. Just a few random notes, I think that Kiefer Ravena grew two inches. The last time I interviewed him (a week after they won the Juniors UAAP championship) he said that he was 5’11″, gotta say I think that he grew the two inches to graduate him to 6′ foot status.

Updates on other Ateneo teams. The men’s and women’s badminton team and the track and field team look to already be hard at work, preparing for the upcoming season. UAAP badminton is also in the first season, while track is in the second. The football team has also started to train, with both men’s and women’s squads sporting new coaches, it should be a very busy pre-season for them. Word is both teams are having tryouts again.

NBA Finals. Props to the Dallas Mavericks for evening up the series, looks like this one’s going to be a long hard-fought series. Those are always the best, it makes the eventual winner all the more deserving.

Running in the rain. I think I should really do that more often. There is something about running in the rain that is so empowering–makes for a very dramatic hollywood scene. It’s almost like Bittersweet symphony should have been playing in the background. It was nice to run again, that was my first run outdoors since I ran 10k. The archs of my feet seem to be healing quite nicely.
