4.Currently, Aunt Arctic can only be found in the Night Club, the Dance Lounge, or the Sleigh room.

5.Aunt Arctic is not online when Club Penguin Support is closed.

6. If you notice a server which is never crowded and suddenly it is almost full check there.

ウィリアム王子が先週、ロンドンのBlackfriars bridge（ブラックフリアーズ橋）の近くで、ホームレス体験とホームレス問題に対する認知を高めるため、路上で一晩を過ごした。子供の頃、母である故ダイアナ妃にお忍びでホームレス慈善団体のCentrepoint（センターポイント）に連れられたことがきっかけで、成長してからCentrepointの後援者となった。王子は、チャリティの責任者（写真上）とともに零下の中、ゴミ用トローリーに囲まれ、寝袋の中で夜12時から朝6時まで過ごした。その後は、ウエスト・エンドのホームレスの若者が多く夜を過ごす場所の視察をされた。寝ている間、王子たちに気づかなかった道路清掃車にひかれそうになって、ひやっとしたそうだ。日本では王子が1泊でも路上生活するなんて考えられない。過剰保護されている日本の皇室とは比べ物にならないぐらい、イギリスの王室はオープンで自由なのだ。

ホームレスチャリティのHomeless Linkの統計によると、昨年ロンドンでは、路上で睡眠を取った人が一晩あたり239人（イングランド統計483人のうち49％）。この数は、ホームレスチャリティやボランティアのおかげで、10年前の約半数になった。内訳は87％が男性で、13％が女性。62％が26〜45歳、30％が46歳以上、そして7％が25歳以下。41％に薬物問題、49％にアルコール問題、35％に精神疾患が見られた（重複あり）。15％のみ、この3つの問題のどれもなかった。政府のホームレス対策に呼応して作られた委員会であるThe London Delivery Boardは、2012年（ロンドン・オリンピック開催年）までに、ホームレスをなくすと掲げている。

Prince William spent one night sleeping rough on the streets near Blackfriars bridge in London last week, to experience being homeless and to raise awareness in homelessness. He was taken by his mother, late Princess Diana, on a secret visit to a Centrepoint shelter when he was a child, and the experience led him to become a patron of homeless charity Centrepoint when he grew up. He slept in a sleeping bag in sub-zero temperatures together with the charity’s chief executive (photo above), next to the wheelie bins, from 12 am to 6 am. Then he went on a tour of the West End to see where many young homeless people were sleeping. He and his company were almost run over by a road sweeper which didn’t see them. It is inconceivable in Japan that one of the princes sleeps on the street without roof, even for one night. British Royal family is incredibly open and free, in compare to the overprotected Japanese Royal family.

According to the key facts by Homeless Link, 239 people sleeping rough on any given night counted last year in London (49% of the England total 483); which is half the level that it was ten years ago, thanks to an effort by a number of homeless charities and its volunteers. 87% were male and 13% were female. 62% were aged between 26 and 45, 30% were aged over 46, and 7% were under age 25. Among the homeless people, 41% had drug problems, 49% had alcohol problems, and 35% had mental health problems (people may be counted in more than one category); 15% had neither drug, alcohol or mental health problems. The London Delivery Board, a group of voluntary agencies and statutory bodies, aims to eliminate rough sleeping in London by 2012, the year of London Olympic.

To involve in a charity activity is an important Royal duty in UK. Prince William took interest in various causes from an early age, with an influence from his parents who have been also active in charity. His mother’s work with HIV/AIDS aid and prevention, and his father’s work with the natural environment and the inner-city disadvantaged, directed him into those areas. He also showed a desire to focus on the needy in Africa, and sometimes works with his brother Prince Harry’s charity, Sentebale. How nice and touching. But don’t worry, the princes also have a nice life and like to party as well. I used to see photographs of the Royal brothers (and their cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie), coming out from some posh night clubs such as Mahiki, Boujis and the Whisky Mist, all over the London’s free papers a while ago (photo below is Prince William obviously drunk with his girlfriend Kate Middleton in 2007) – but I rarely see recently. Maybe because they grew up and become mature, or the warning by the Queen, that “the Royal Family stands ready to take legal action against harassment and intrusion by paparazzi”??

Saturday nights at The Last Days of Decadence are swinging! This  20’s theme Shoreditch  bar and night club is a great alternative to the typical ear shattering Drum and Bass  clubs.

The LDD was packed with ladies covered in fur  and pearls and men in pinstripes and hats. The crowd consisted of mainly a mature audience, so most were on their best behaviour.

Drinks at the bar were costly, but were high quality, so they flowed all night. I’m pretty partial to their Porn Star Martini.

After hitting the bar the music started with foot tapping tunes from DJ Count Sizzle and Mr Wax. Between other performances, they kept everyone on their feet all night with familiar jazzy tunes from the 1920s to the 1950s.

The first performance by burlesque artist “Tempest Rose” was a tempting and teasing traditional fan dance that left the crowd wanting more. She followed up  her first performance with the story of “The Bride of Santa.” ‘Tempest’ showed us a side or two of Ms. Clause that we’ve never seen before.

The best part of the evening by far were the sensual sounds of Beth Rowley . Every hit of the high hat, slap of a bass string, and wail of the guitar sent her audience into writhing motions. Beth poured her seductive voice all over the crowd. We were soaked in it and were loving it. Then she pulled out her harmonica and floored us all.

A SHERIFF Court staff night out turned sour when a jealous clubber smashed a glass over a woman’s head for kissing her boyfriend on the dancefloor.

Window-dresser Emma McCulloch, 20, saw red when her boyfriend kissed a woman twice her age.

She stormed across the dancefloor in Edinburgh’s trendy Shanghai nightclub and poured her drink over Lorraine Cairns’ head.

Before Miss Cairns had a chance to explain that she had only got a peck on the cheek, McCulloch walked away and threw the empty glass over her shoulder, shattering on the Sheriff Clerk office worker’s head.

Victim Miss Cairns, 40, was today (Friday) paid £100 compensation as part of McCulloch’s £300 fine.

A non-resident sheriff had to be drafted into Edinburgh Sheriff Court to hear the case from an impartial viewpoint.

“She threw a glass over her shoulder”

The attack happened just 20 minutes before the George Street nightclub was due to close for the night on January 18, according to fiscal depute Trevor Smith.

He said: “Miss Cairns was dancing with her friends and colleagues when a male friend approached her and kissed her on the cheek.

“On being kissed, she was aware of being approached by McCulloch who pushed the male.

“On walking away she threw a glass over her shoulder which hit Miss Cairns on the head, causing a cut.

“When spoken to by police she said she had no intention of hitting her on the head with the glass.”

Miss Cairns, of Bilston in Midlothian, was treated by first aid staff at the night club and did not need to go to hospital.

“very serious indeed”

Defence agent Andrew Gilbertson said McCulloch, of Polton Street in Bonnyrigg, “deeply regrets” injuring Miss Cairns.

He said: “The male concerned was Emma McCulloch’s boyfriend and she spotted him in the arms of this older woman.

“She threw her drink over the complainer then turned on her heels and threw the glass.

“She deeply regrets doing this.

“She is still in a relationship with the male.”

Fining her £300, Sheriff Raymond McMenamin told her: “This was, no matter your reason, an act which could have been very serious indeed.

“There is no excuse for your behaviour.

“However, taking into account your circumstances and early plea, I can deal with the matter by way of imposing a monetary penalty and compensation order for the victim.”

I found a new club in the heart of DC a few months ago called Lima, right at the corner of 14 & K Streets a few blocks away from the White house. Wow! What a place! Music, food and the set up were all awesome. The chicks were of course super gorgeous!

I’d say the ratio of chicks to dudes on a regular night at Lima is usually 2 to 1. Considering seven chicks for every man there in DC (I read it in the Washington Post a few years ago), I was surprised to see only two chicks per dude in the club, which is however still a good deal if you ask me.

By design, it is created for those well versed in food, wine, music, and style. A Hybrid restaurant, lounge and bar on three separate levels (with an outdoor patio open year round). The restaurant/night club is suited for the casual connoisseur. Someone who enjoys the finer things in life without all the pomp, pretense, and political underpinnings of Washington DC elite society. In the last few months, it has become my #1 chill spot, where I take my friends when I want to show them a good time. Here is their 3 year anniversary Party I attended:

The Kings of Gangster Bop are back.

Actually I’m not sure they were ever gone. It’s just that I haven’t seen or heard much about Royal Crown Revue since I saw them open for Chris Isaak at the Santa Barbara Bowl a few years ago.

When I noticed they were going to be playing the Mint in L.A., I instantly stopped what I was working on (okay, I’ll instantly stop what I’m working on for almost any excuse – it’s called procrastination with a capital “P”) and ordered tickets.

My dear ex once embarked on a futile effort to rejuvenate our marriage by suggesting all sorts of new couples activities which we might try. It got to the point where when I saw that look in her eyes and her mouth start to open I would just shout out “No swing dance lessons!”, which is sort of ironic because I do like swing music, and particularly many of the bands which came out of the early 90’s swing revival. Royal Crown Revue is often credited with having started that revival, and is probably the most successful and well known of those bands.

That they were playing the Mint was particularly enticing. Royal Crown Revue is a big band, literally and figuratively, and the Mint is such a small club I wasn’t even sure you could fit the whole band in it, let alone manage to get them all up on the tiny stage.

When I last saw them in Santa Barbara, I was somewhat disappointed. Maybe it was because of the larger venue but they seemed somewhat low key and subdued, like someone had slipped them a xanax mickey.

No such problem on November 18 at the Mint. The band came out smokin’, playing one old favorite after another with high style. In the tiny, dark Mint it was like taking a time machine back to the old band boxes on LA’s Central Avenue in the 40’s and 50’s. Or it least what I imagine those old clubs were like, given it was before my time.

Front man Eddie Nichols was in fine voice and form. Saucy Jennifer Keith, who featured Royal Crown Revue members Mando Dorame and Daniel Glass in her own High Society Boys Band, has now joined Royal Crown Revue as it’s female vocalist. Adding a female vocalist to the gangster boppers works well. It’s now guys and doll, rather than just guys. Part torch singer, part Andrews sister and a hundred percent eye candy (nothing wrong with a nice pair of gams in seemed stockings), Ms. Keith is a talented singer who integrates well with the band, soloing on some songs to give Nichols a break, and joining him on others in a throw back to the days when Steve and Eydie and Louie and Keely wowed them in Vegas.

Speaking of Vegas, why hasn’t some smart Steve Wynn type booked these guys a long term casino gig? Put these guys in a lounge and let them wail along with the tumbling dice and clanging slots and they’d pack them in. A lot of us were too late to swing with Frankie, Deano and Sammy but Royal Crown Revue can certainly carry the torch.

Royal Crown Revue has one more show at the Mint – December 2 -before taking off on an Australian tour. A guest “celebrity” hosts each show at the Mint. On the night I was there, Evan Seinfeld, late of HBO’s prison drama OZ and the bands Biohazard and Spyderz, served as MC and did a couple of songs – very well I might add.

These guys deserve your support and it is nice to see that they have maintained their Canadian courtesy & politeness despite such a jaded world they travel upon. Alcohol is not a cure for the things that ail people. We all know this. And yet, at times we ignore what we know and head for the nearest bar. At least that’s what I did two months in to my PhD. Were there mitigating circumstances for my binge? I’d like to think so. I’d been in an intense and negative relationship which had just recently broken up; I had quit smoking a few weeks earlier; and I had not recovered from the 11 months of constant work and pressure that had been my Master’s Degree (fifty thousand written words in terms of essays and dissertation, plus the heavy reading list, the extra research for seminar presentations and some teaching crammed in along the way).

So I guess I was feeling sorry for myself and in need of an escape. I had only just started to drink again after almost ten years without touching it. In retrospect I assume I was trying to replace one addiction – the cigarettes – with another. But luckily for me I’m not a very good drinker and there is no way I could keep up the regular intake required to become an alcoholic. This was just a week or so of drinking more than is good for me and waking up with headaches you’d normally only get if elephants jumped up and down on your brain.

The worst day, in terms of consumption, turned out in the end to be the best day as it was the day that put an end to my self-pity and my hiding in a bottle. Not that anyone would have predicted I’d be getting back to normal if they’d seen me at half past ten in the morning starting on my first drinks of the day. I was smart enough to eat lunch in one of the bars I stumbled through that afternoon but I was also dumb enough to wash lunch down with several more pints of beer. By early evening I was utterly wasted and might have gone home, had I not met a friend who was equally drunk. So we carried on, but at least we had company. Self-pity likes company.

By ten o’clock we were in my favourite nightclub, drinking Wild Turkey bourbon and somehow still managing to hold a conversation. Admittedly the conversation was being held at extremely high decibel levels and probably consisted of little more than “Another?” “Go on then.” But nobody was being sick and neither of us had lost the use of their limbs, which is always a bonus after almost twelve hours of solid boozing.

Come midnight I was quite wobbly on my legs and feeling as though I might be sick for the first time that day. So I went to the men’s room where the colder air actually cleared my head slightly and I just needed to urinate. Standing there letting nature take its course I became aware that someone was stood at the next urinal and staring at me. Now even when they are drunk to high heaven men know that there are usually only two things that another man means to convey to you if he is standing beside you at the urinal and staring at you: either he wants to get fresh with you, or he wants to fight you. Again, this was one of those instances where my mouth acted without the backing of the rest of my body and I snarled “What the hell do you want?” at him. His face fell a little but he managed to say “You used to be in that band, didn’t you?” He named one of my old bands. “Er, yeah I did, but do you possibly think I can finish pissing before we talk some more?” As he apologised I realised he was almost as drunk as I was and hadn’t quite apprecaited where he’d been initiated the conversation.

As I was washing my hands he was waxing lyrical about a specific gig I’d done with that band and how him and his mates had sneaked into the bar that night because they were all underage. They’d been so impressed they’d formed their own band and had gone on to do a lot of gigs. He’d actually just left that band because he’d started university but the rest of them were still gigging. “And it’s all cos of you guys,” he said before disappearing off into the sweaty throng of dancers and drinkers once more. As I made my way unsteadily to my table again I was smiling from ear to ear. I remembered the gig he was on about and it was one that all of us in the band at the time felt was a good one. And here was confirmation some years later that it had been such a good night that several kids had been inspired to go out and do the same thing themselves. My self-pity fell from me as I remembered that life affects us and we affect other people in so many ways, some small and seemingly insiginficant, others huge and unforgettable. I was ready to get back on the merry-go-round of life again, without the need for outragous quantities of sour mash bourbon.
