What we absolutely love love love about Bluefly, is that there is a chat feature, which allows you to chat with their fashionistas.  Like on call personal shoppers that can help you come up with just the right look.  Not that Bluefly has bottom dollar prices, BUT  if you look you can find amazing, unique, AFFORDABLE, designer pieces.  Like the jacket we have pictured here… it’s only $118 at Bluefly.  Regularly it’s $168.

So. I was walking down Redondo Beach Blvd, pushing my two-year-old son home after a morning grocery shopping trip.
 
It’s a busy street. A huge shopping center on my immediate right. Banks and fast food joints across the street on my left. Cars speeding past in both directions. The sidewalks are not crowded, but generously littered here and there with pedestrians.
 
I’m minding my own business, you see, when I notice that I’m catching up to the lady in front of me. She’s a little wide, her dark pink skirt swishing back and forth, brushing the back of her legs before flaring out at the sides. I’m starting to calculate how to manuever my bulky green stroller, filled to brim with a fussy toddler and heavy groceries, around her on the somewhat narrow sidewalk so I can get to the corner light before it turns green. And then…
 
OH MY GOD!!!!
 
Did she…?
 
Am I….?
 
Yes!!!!!
 
She DID just squat down in front of me. I AM watching her pee right there in broad daylight. And Yes! I am turning this stroller right around and finding an alternate route to get to the corner and to cross the street.
 
And as I walk away I wonder….DID I REALLY JUST SEE THAT?

Yes, you did.

GIRL!!  yes.  okay, so right after MJ died, my mother and cousin were in town.  They both were born, raised, and  live in Gary, Indiana so they REALLY wanted to go see his star.  We fight, budge and cuss to get to actually lay eyes on it – since there were obviously a million people crowded around.  While we’re ooooo’ing and aaaahhh’ing, I hear the sound of water hitting the ground. 

Everybody knows “it doesn’t rain in southern California.”  So I’m looking around to see WHERE is this liquid coming from.  “Cause it sounded very close…. I turn around and this woman is holding her 5 or 6 YEAR OLD son while he holds his appendage and pees right into the crowd.  Now their backs were away from the actual star, but their bodies were still in the mix.

I’m watching, and I lock eyes with the woman.  I go “REALLY LADY??? WHY ARE YOU SO NASTY??? You couldn’t make it to one of the 1,000 stores, shops, and attractions located steps to the side to get into a bathroom?  You couldn’t push your way 5 feet into the street where there is construction and thus NO traffic?  Now we have to duck and dodge your son’s piss.  Thanks a lot.  You are nasty.” 

You would think she was ashamed.  You would think she’d say “Well he just whipped it out and what could I do?”  No.  She didn’t.  She shrugged. And continued to hold him while he let out the longest pee ever.

I pushed my way out of the crowd.  The rest of the tourists I guess felt seeing the star more important than a little piss on the leg or shoe and continued to crowd around. 

People suck.

Speculaas Shop in Antwerp City Centre

 This was a group effort Mickey wrote the story, Niki took the Speculaas Shop photos and Mary made the Speculaas Cookies - stick to it – the recipe IS at the end.  

In Belgium we have Sint Nikolaas and the Feast of Sinterklaas which starts today, December 6th. Here is an excerpt From The Story of Sinterklaas:  

All Dutch children know that Sinterklaas (the name is a corruption of ”Sint Nikolaas”) lives in Spain. Exactly why he does remains a mystery, but that is what all the old songs and nursery rhymes say. Whatever the case may be, in Spain he spends most of the year recording the behaviour of all children in a big red book, while his helper Black Peter stocks up on presents for next December 5th. In the first weeks of November, Sinterklaas gets on his white horse, Peter (“Piet”) swings a huge sack full of gifts over his shoulder, and the three of them board a steamship headed for the Netherlands.

Around mid-November they arrive in a harbour town – a different one every year – where they are formally greeted by the Mayor and a delegation of citizens. Their parade through town is watched live on television by the whole country and marks the beginning of the “Sinterklaas season”. The old bishop and his helpmate are suddenly everywhere at once. At night they ride across Holland’s’ rooftops and Sinterklaas listens through the chimneys to check on the children’s behaviour. Piet jumps down the chimney flues and makes sure that the carrot or hay the children have left for the horse in their shoes by the fireplace is exchanged for a small gift or some candy.

During the day, Sinterklaas and Piet are even busier, visiting schools, hospitals, department stores, restaurants, offices and many private homes. Piet rings door bells, scatters sweets through the slightly opened doors and leaves basketfuls of presents by the front door. How do they manage to be all over the Netherlands at once? This is thanks to the so-called “hulp-Sinterklazen”, or Sinterklaas helpers, who dress up like the bishop and Black Peter and help them perform their duties. Children who become wise to these simultaneous “Sint-sightings” are told that since Sinterklaas cannot indeed be in two places at once, he gets a little help from his uncanonized friends. 

Homemade Speculaas

So, we see some similarities and differences between our Santa and Sint Nikolaas. Santa rides in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, Sint Nikolaas rides in a boat and then he rides a mighty white steed. Both keep track of naughty kids and good kids. Santa lives at the north pole, Sint Nikolaas lives in Spain (where else would he live?) Santa has elves, Sint Nikolaas appears to have a slave. How lovely, holiday traditions promoting racism. That’s what Christmas is all about! People here swear the helper is not a slave, he is black from going down the chimney. Happy Sinterklaas, the season of clemetines, speculaas, chocolate, gluhwein and lighthearted racist iconography.

Speculaas  

this recipe may seem to have a lot of flour – and it does in order to keep it from sticking to the wood cookie mold.  You CAN add less flour without harming the outcome.  If you don’t have a mold you can also roll these out and cut them in rectangles.  One more note – these made four of the cookie molds – 17″ in length! - you may want to start with a half recipe.  

In mixer cream together  

     1 Cup Butter  

     3 Cups DARK Brown Sugar – no exceptions!<p   

     2 Eggs 

     3 Tbsp Cinnamon 

     1 Tbsp Ginger  

     1 1/2 tsp Cloves  

     1 tsp Baking Powder 

     1 tsp Salt 

Slowly add in  

     2 Cups Four  

Remove from mixer – pour dough on counter and BY HAND knead in one cup AT A TIME until it becomes nice and brown and pliable: 

      4 MORE Cups Flour 

Roll out onto floured surface and cut rectangular or with cookie cutters. 

Bake at 375 until good and done – CRISPY IS KEY! Time varies to size of cut-out start at 8 minutes and go from there.

Nach dem Wegfall von Sky Europe baut NIKI sein Streckennetz aus. Folgende neue Destinationen sind für den Flugplan 2010 ab Wien geplant:  Belgrad, Bukarest und Sofia (ab 1. Feber 2010) sowie Barcelona, Nizza und Kopenhagen (ab 28. März 2010).

A Embraer e a segunda maior companhia aérea austríaca, a NIKI Luftfahrt GmbH, assinaram contrato para mais dois jatos Embraer 190, confirmando direitos de compra do contrato original anunciado em julho de 2008. O início das entregas desta nova encomenda está previsto para o primeiro semestre de 2011.

“É uma grande honra para a Embraer ter a NIKI reafirmando sua confiança no E-190 por meio da confirmação destes direitos de compra apenas seis meses após o recebimento do primeiro E-Jet”, disse Mauro Kern, Vice-Presidente Executivo da Embraer para o Mercado de Aviação Comercial. “Estamos realmente satisfeitos em ver os nossos E-Jets auxiliando a NIKI no inovador e restritivo mercado de baixo custo.”

Beneficiando-se do inigualável e baixo custo operacional dos E-Jets, bem como seu consumo de combustível e nível de emissão de poluentes reduzidos, a NIKI se tornou a primeira empresa aérea de baixo custo européia a operar o E-190 com 112 assentos, otimizado para rotas de média demanda, juntamente com aeronaves narrowbody convencionais com capacidade de 150 a 210 assentos, otimizadas para rotas com grande demanda.

“O E-190 se encaixa muito bem na nossa estratégia de crescimento e nos ajudará a ser uma empresa lucrativa pelo quinto ano consecutivo”, disse Niki Lauda, fundador e Presidente da NIKI Luftfahrt GmbH.

Kinderen laten zich niet opjagen… Die van ons toch niet… Zo kwam het dat Niki uiteindelijk haar lolli in de auto verder opat (op zich niets mis mee natuurlijk, buiten die eventuele plakboel; en echt veilig is dat ook niet als je bv hevig moet stoppen, maar bon). Daar zit ze dus na een tijdje met dat lege stokje in haar handen.

Niki: “hier mama, het stokje”
Mama: “ik ga dat niet vasthouden hoor, dat moet je het nog even bijhouden en straks in de vuilbak gooien”
Een aantal minuten gaan letterlijk voorbij…
Niki (heel serieus): “zeg mama, maar jouw tas ìs toch een vuilbak?”

Kleine nota: Sean durft nogal eens -geheel onterecht natuurlijk – naar mijn handtas verwijzen als ‘de vuilbak’. En zo weten we weeral dat kinderen dus echt wel àlles oppikken.

Ken je dat nog? Zo spatten met verf met behulp van een -bij voorkeur oude- kam of zeef of zo? De blauwe verfvingers van Niki en Yana waren het bewijs van een  door hun zeer geapprecieerde knutselactiviteit.

Gesprekje:
Mama: “wat zijn jullie handen toch blauw. Leuk geknutseld?”
Kids: “wij hebben mogen spatten, met een kam, en dan zo met onze vingers over de kam mogen gaan”
Mama: “of fijn, dat deed ik ook graag als kindje”
Niki: “ja, ik deed dat ook graag als baby’tje, maar dat mocht ik nooit van jou en nu als kindje mag ik dat wel”
Mama: “maar baby’tjes zouden die kam gewoon in hun mond stoppen hoor en dan al die verf opeten”
Niki: “maar als baby deed ik dat niet hoor mama, ik zou daar mooi mee spatten, maar dat mocht ik NOOIT, en dat deed ik zoooooooooo graag”
Mama – even sprakeloos gniffelend achter de hand: “gelukkig dat je dat nu allemaal kan doen hé! En dat je dat zo fijn vindt.”

Vooral de toon en de manier waarop ze reageerde was zo ongelofelijk grappig. Ze is er van overtuigd op dat moment dat ze alle wijsheid in haar heeft. En wie ben ik om dat tegen te spreken.

En Yana? Die is gewoon véél te moe om nog veel reactie te tonen na school. De wintermoeheid is duidelijk aan ‘t knabbelen bij haar. Dringend tijd om eens te gaan vragen naar vitamientjes of zo voor haar.

最近又接了一檔夜間的外拍..
主要和朋友針對高雄光榮碼頭的景拍攝..
這次協助的MD叫NiKi..
很專業也很有親和力..
很容易能成為目光囑目的焦點..
我想Niki就是擁有與生俱來明星的特質..
整場拍攝下來..其實有點疲累仍盡力完成這次作品..
很值得稱讚..
非常敬業..
也給Niki一些鼓勵和支持…
而這次想表達重點主要還是在於光線的掌控..
利用離機閃燈的模式作變化..
創造出模特兒較具立體感和光質的呈現..
再配合引導MD的打光角度和MD自己本身的肢體語言..
由於沒有採用測光表..
又希望在拍攝中盡量不影響MD..
因此比較隨性的拍攝..
對於光圈、快門和iso的選擇上較彈性(屬於個人習慣..測光表仍有它的優勢)..
但光圈約落在F2-F5.6之間,iso落在100-500之間…其它就由客官自己去組合囉..
也希望這次作品大家會喜歡..

和朋友ㄚ好、智凱相約先到攝影咖啡店小坐一下…等Niki過來和我們碰頭..順便趁這次將外拍的工具都帶齊展開大陣仗拍攝..謝謝ㄚ好和智凱的邀約和幫忙..才能有這次成果不錯的拍攝

在咖啡店也巧遇店長David回來..店長很健談..人也很不錯..愛攝影的朋友有機會可以去坐坐…或是等我開一家再來坐.. ㄏㄏ..

Malači! Tagad sīkais negrib dzīvot mājās….. :@

Net een bezoekje gebracht aan kapsalon ‘Niki en Yana’. Ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat een gezonde portie zelfbeheersing cruciaal was tijdens dit bezoekje. Op het programma: hoofd masseren, wassen (doen alsof gelukkig), kammen (ongeacht of er al speldjes in mijn haar zaten ), speldjes en staartjes erin. Tja, ze moeten ergens starten hé.

Van de kapper gesproken… gesprekje van gisteren tussen Mémé, Niki en mezelf:
Niki: ‘mijn haar wordt weer lang hé mama’
Ik: ‘ja, da’s waar. Zullen we nog es naar de kapper gaan?’
Mémé: ‘en wat moet de kapper dan doen?’
Niki: ‘awel, knippen en een andere kleur opzetten!’
Ah ja???
