My hobby is video games. When I’m not playing with new software packages, or experimenting with film, I play video games.

I love video games so much in fact, that I set up a photoshoot for my Xbox 360 controller. The below image is the best of the bunch.

Taking the photo was a fun experience. I blacked out the room I was in, the only light source an LCD monitor bathing half of the controller in a pure white light.

so, yesterday we went bowling again. we had it all neatly planned out:

play 2 to 4 games, pack up and pay and (at 00:15) get the last tram home. but the tram didn’t arrive. so we reluctantly decided to walk.

and on our way home we found out why the tram had not arrived: it crashed with a cab.

oh and: then i wanted to withdraw some money, only to find out that, once again, there were some ‘connection problems’. ah well.

Thankful Friday: Thanksgiving

My US friends probably had a great holiday, spent with family, eating too much, laughing, celebrating and most of all being thankful. I love the fact that there is a holiday for “thanks giving”.

This week had the potential of being totally awful and an uphill struggle as my husband is away working in London (and working his behind off, with 12-13 hour days and sharing his hotel room with a mate who snores). And though, I terribly missed the man, I am thankful that I managed ok by myself. I kept the munchkin as busy as possible so she wouldn’t miss her Daddy too much.

So as I prepare to leave soon to see a friend of mine, I put all the little things down that I am thankful for this week.

Anthony’s main employer paid one wage of the 4 outstanding wages. Very nice.
Anthony’s work is well received at his freelance place.
There was only one dead mouse to deal with all week. Very grateful for that.
Wonderful 1st birthday party of our niece, nice to spend some time with family
Thankful for going to see Grandma.
Thankful that Dharma went to bed easily and willingly all week.
Thankful for the 9 hours of sleep I got last night.
Thankful that my husband is coming home for the weekend tonight.
Thankful for being almost organized for Dharma’s birthday next week.
Thankful for Good Earth’s Jasmine tea. It’s wonderful, try it.
Thankful for Lisa Nichol’s Audio book I am listening to at the moment.
Thankful for a nice afternoon with a friend yesterday. And she brought a doughnut for Dharma.
Thankful for Dharma’s temperature being short-lived.
Thankful for being able to sit down in a nice home after a long day of motherhood.
Thankful for food on the table. And a glass of wine.
Thankful for a nice trip to London. And having a look around Anthropologie.
Thankful for Dharma saying “Mami, you are my best friend.”
Thankful that Dharma has been a good girl (mostly) this week.
Thankful that although Dharma misses her Daddy, she is consoled as soon as I say: “Daddy, will be back home soon.”
Thankful that we are ok.
Thankful for good health.
Thankful for the healthy arrival of my sister-in-law’s baby nephew.
Thankful that the floods are going back in the UK.
Thankful for love.

All is good here. Have a nice weekend.

The Kallang Basin is the latest water reservoir in Singapore. It also doubles as an entertainment venue, capable of hosting various water sports, and even parades and concerts on its floating platform.

Situated right in the middle of CBD, various other attractions are nearby, including the Esplanade Concert Hall (right), office buildings forming the skyline and the, still under construction, integrated resort (aka casino)

"I can do this, Mami!"

As my little girl is fast approaching her third birthday I am more and more in awe of her.

She can play forever in her little fantasy world, like today when she cut Bunny’s hair and made him/her (ongoing discussion still whether Bunny is a girl or a boy) look beautiful. Totally engrossed in her little world. I love that.

I love her growing independence – well mostly – and that she wants to help. She passes me the wet clothes, item by item, for me to hang on the line. It takes a long time doing it this way but it is so worth it because she has this enormous proud grin on her face. Or like today when she carried the toast to the table. “I did it, I helped Mami.”

It also means that she is obviously much more aware of things happening around her. Like Daddy being in London. She doesn’t understand what it means, but she keeps asking when Daddy will be home and then she says: “Oh, Daddy is in London working.”

She is clever and has developed the I am not bothered attitude. E.g. if we threaten that she will go to bed if she doesn’t behave at the dinner table then she will just get up and say: “I go to bed now.” We’ve been caught out by this a few times.

I sometimes worry if she shouldn’t stand up more for herself. Some of her little friends snatch, push, pull and take her toys away and Dharma often doesn’t even react. She will just go and play something else. And no matter how nasty one of her little friends was to her, she still goes and gives her a hug and states: “X is my best friend.” At the moment, I tend to think, it’s teaching her kindness, but then I have those moments when I think I will have to teach her to stick up for herself a little bit more.

So all in all, almost 3 is a pretty good age. Until the next meltdown. And then again directly after the meltdown.

Un po’ meglio questa settimana l’incasso ma solo grazie a un colpaccio su CanStock e una giornata eccellente su Fotolia … il resto nebbia fitta in Val Padana.

Dreamstime sembra fermo, il sito ha pure il singhiozzo, i tempi di revisione si fanno biblici (siamo oltre le 150 ore) e le vendite languono almeno da me, poche e soprattutto subscription. Sta perdendo posti nella mia classifica è stato superato da iStock!

Il database ha raggiunto i 9 milioni di immagini .. altro che sgomitare per vendere!! Solo 2 On Demand questa settimana, so che stanno facendo cambiamenti sui vari pacchetti ma ancora non ho avuto tempo per studiare la cosa anche perchè pare stiano facendo prove solo in alcuni paesi mentre in altri i pacchetti restano gli stessi .. bho …

iStock registra un’altra settimana discreta, un poco alla volta le vendite aumentano e visti anche gli scarsi risultati di altri siti si piazza al terzo posto! Su iStock vendo bene le foto agricole, sará che mi hanno mandato a zappare?
