A partir del 16 de noviembre, la página oficial ELOTROYO.COM se convertirá también en una red social, con las características de redes como Facebook, MySpace pero adaptado para una banda de rock.

EL OTRO YO seria la primer banda argentina y la tercera en el mundo, junto a NIN y Radiohead en trabajar en su propio sitio como red social,  donde los fanáticos y amantes de la música en general, podrán relacionarse y tomar elotroyo.com como su propio espacio de expresión y de compartir la vida, la música.

También el 16 de noviembre desde la misma pagina estará disponible para bajar en forma legal y gratuita, uno de los adelantos del disco nuevo de EL OTRO YO, el tema elegido es “Siempre Fui Yo” y se podrá descargar de la página del programa de radio “Cual Es?” conducido por Mario Pergolini, Eduardo de la Puente y Marcelo Gantman. Transmitido por FM Rock&Pop 95.9. La banda está trabajando en el video de la canción, junto al artista, publicista y director, Guillermo Tragant  “Furia World”.

Otras de las novedades cibernéticas de la banda es que también a partir del
mes de noviembre los usuarios de iPhone e iTouch, podrán comprar la aplicación de EL OTRO YO para sus celulares, a través de Apple Store y de iLike.

>> 30 Seconds to Mars lanzará su nuevo disco este 8 de Diciembre. A finales de los 80 en pleno estallido de la escena alternativa surgió un grupo que fusionaba el techno oscuro de grupos como Skinny Puppy y la furia industrial de Ministry dándole un toque más accesible. Liderados por Trent Reznor, bueno en realidad Trent Reznor es Nine Inch Nails, pronto acapararon la atención de las masas pero lo hicieron a su manera. Ofreciendo unos shows espectaculares y arrolladores y publicando discos matadores , uno detrás de otro, desde su debut Pretty Hate Machine, más techno a su siguiente mini L.P. , Broken lleno de guitarras y mala ostia hasta quizás su obra maestra , The Downward Spiral, toda una obra de arte de destrucción masiva. No menos arrolladores son sus directos. Legendario fué su concierto en Woodstock donde arrasaron con todo literal, desde la interpretación de las canciones a  su set de escena , sin duda fué el punto culminante de su carrera, aunque lo que vendría después no desmerece en absoluto su trayectoria, empezando por su doble disco The Fragile, más ambicioso e introspectivo, o los posteriores With Teeth, Year Zero, o The Slip, más maduros quizás aunque rebosantes de calidad, algo muy difícil de encontrar en los tiempos que corren. Trent Reznor a anunciado un receso para NIN que esperemos no dure mucho…O estamos jodidos, les necesitamos como el respirar.

Marilyn Manson มาจากการรวมกันของชื่อ Marilyn Monroe และ Charles Manson ทั้งสองท่านนี้เป็นที่รู้จักกันดีในยุค 1960’s คนหนึ่งแสดงอิทธิพลในขั้วบวก อีกคนแสดงอิทธิพลในขั้วลบ คือ Marilyn Monroe และ Charles Manson ซึ่งสมาชิคทุคทนในรุ่นแรก ๆ มีการตั้งชื่อแบบเดียวกันหมด คือ ดาราสาว และ ฆาตกร การตั้งชื่อเช่นนี้สิ้นสุดลงในในสมัยที่ John 5 เข้ามาเล่น

1989 ที่ Southern Florida เมื่อ Marilyn Manson กับ Daisy ผู้เป็น guitarist ซึ่งทั้งสองบุกบ่าผ่าฟันเป็นลูกน้องของวงอื่นมาตั้ง 5 วง ได้จับมือกันก่อตั้งวงดนตรีขึ้นมาเอง

1990 Marilyn Manson ได้กลายเป็น Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids ได้มีชื่อวงตามชื่อของนักร้องนั่นก็คือ Marilyn Manson ส่วน Daisy เป็น lead guitarist มี Gidget Gein เป็น bassist และมี Madonna Wayne Gacy เป็น keyboardist ( replaced Zsa Zsa Speck) และ drum machine

1991 Sara Lee Lucas ได้มาทดแทนเสียงกลองที่มาจาก machine

1992, Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids ได้เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Marilyn Manson จากนั้น เขาได้รวบรวมชื่อเสียงทั่วท้องถิ่นนั้น มีสามวงมาแข่ง เขาได้เป็นผู้ชนะใน local music award Singles ของพวกเขาได้แก่ Dope Hat, Lunchbox, My Monkey ก็ได้รับการ vote ให้ชนะเลิศ

ระหว่างการ Tour กับวงดนตรีอื่น มือกลองที่ชื่อ Sara Lee Lucas ได้ถูกให้ออกจากวง ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเขาก็ Manson นั้นได้เกิดดิ่งลงเหว ถึงขั้นนรก ในระหว่างการ Tour ครั้งนี้ ทำให้ Manson โทรศัพท์ไปหามือกลองฟลอริดา Frank Kenneth Wilson หรือ ปลาขิง Ginger Fish

Daisy Berkowitz ซึ่งเป็นสมาชิกรุ่นแรก ๆ ก็ต้องมาออกในปี 1996 Zim Zum ได้สมัครเข้าเป็นมือกีตาร์ของวง และสอบผ่าน 3 เพลงบังคับ หลังจากนั้น การบันทึกเสียง Mechanical Animal ก็ได้รับการยอมรับว่าเป็นครั้งที่ดีที่สุดตั้งแต่ตั้งวงมา ซึ่งมันทั้งมืดและหนักหน่วง เพราะเขาได้รับความสนใจอย่างมากจากสาธารณชนที่แลเห็นว่าเขาเสื่อมทราม เด็ก ๆ บางคน ได้ก่อคดีฆ่าตัวตาย ซึ่งคาดว่าเกิดจากเพลงของเขา ซึ่งมีชื่อว่า The Reflecting God

กล่าวโดยสรุปแล้ว หลังจากที่ Zim Zum ออกจากวงเขาก็ได้ออก CD ที่ 4 คือ Mechanical Animals ซึ่งแตกต่างโดยสิ้นเชิงกับแนวเพลงเดิมของเขา เพราะรู้สึกว่าเขาจะมีความสุขมากกว่าเดิม ปัจจุบันนี้ Zim Zum ทำวงของเขาเอง และยังรักษาเอกลักษณ์กีตาร์สุดเทห์ ในวง THE POP CULTURE SUICIDES

2007 Marilyn Manson ออกอลบัม Drink Me Eat Me แต่ไม่ประสพน์ความสำเร็จเท่า The Golden Age Of Grotesque Twiggy Ramirez กลับมาอีกครั้งในปีเดียวกัน เขาบอกว่า ยิ่งอยู่ห่างจาก Manson เท่าไร ก็ทำให้เขาคิดถึงมากขึ้น Tim Skold ได้กลับไปอยู่วงเดิม คือ KMFDM ในปี 2009

At some point in our lives, or perhaps at many points in our lives, we ask the question, “Who am I?” At times like these, we are looking beyond the obvious, beyond our names and the names of the cities and states we came from, into the layers beneath our surface identities. We may feel the need for a deeper sense of purpose in our lives, or we may be ready to accommodate a more complex understanding of the situation in which we find ourselves. Whatever the case, the question of who we are is a seed that can bear much fruit.

It can send us on an exploration of our ancestry, or the past lives of our soul. It can call us to take up journaling in order to discover that voice deep within us that seems to know the answers to a multitude of questions. It can draw our attention so deeply inward that we find the spark of spirit that connects us to every living thing in the universe. One Hindu tradition counsels its practitioners to ask the question over and over, using it as a mantra to lead them inevitably into the heart of the divine.

While there are people who seem to come into the world knowing who they are and why they are here, for the most part the human journey appears to be very much about asking this question and allowing its answers to guide us on our paths. So when we find ourselves in the heart of unknowing, we can have faith that we are in a very human place, as well as a very divine one. “Who am I?” is a timeless mantra, a Zen koan ultimately designed to lead us home, into the part of our minds that finally lets go of questions and answers and finds instead the ability to simply be.

When it comes to Nine Inch Nails, I’m not a huge fan. It’s not that I don’t like their music or anything like that; it’s just that I’ve never been that acquainted with or as in love with most their work (let’s be clear, I’m not saying that they are overrated or that they suck or anything like that).

However, I do own one of their albums, which I bought on a whim in 2005. The album, With Teeth, instantly became one of my favorites as soon as I listened to it the first time all the way through. I don’t find the need or desire to skip any of the tracks and I will usually pop it into the CD player in my car at least once a month.

This morning I was listening to With Teeth on the way to work and I thought to myself, “There really are a lot of questions asked in this album”.

So, curious about how many of the album’s lyrics were actually questions, I looked them up online (on my lunch break folks). While there aren’t, as I thought, questions on every track, there are still quite a few (in fact, more than I had originally picked up on). So here are all the interrogative sentences (I just got tired of writing the word “questions”) in Nine Inch Nails’s With Teeth:

• Why do you get all the love in the world?

• Don’t you fucking know what you are?

Some of our goals and dreams come to fruition so easily that it is as if an unseen hand has done much of the work for us. When this happens, we say it must have been meant to be. On the other hand, when dreams and goals require a tremendous amount of effort, we may interpret this to mean that our dream is not meant to be. However, difficulty is not necessarily a sign that our hopes and plans are ill-fated. On the contrary, difficulties and challenges along the path can be important parts of the project’s overall meaning.

When everything goes smoothly, we feel blessed by the universe, as if a fleet of angels is guiding and supporting our every move. When things are rough or ambiguous, we sometimes feel that we have been abandoned. And yet, the truth is that we are blessed in both cases. Our angels and guides are always present. They may choose at times to back off and let us figure something out for ourselves, and this is when things seem difficult. But when things are difficult, we learn and grow in specific ways. There is a unique satisfaction that comes to us when we succeed at something that has been a challenge. Our sense of self-reliance expands, and our ability to endure and keep the faith is stronger for having been tested. We learn that we are capable of confronting and overcoming the obstacles in our path, and this empowers us to dream still bigger dreams, knowing that we will not be daunted by the challenges inherent in birthing them.

When we find ourselves facing difficulties with a particular plan or project, the chances are we know already whether we are meant to continue on or let it go. We simply need to look within ourselves for the answer. When an idea is meant to be, it comes back to us time and time again. Then we know we can go forward, no matter what challenges arise, knowing that it is meant to be.

Well today was an interesting day. It all started back on July 4th, 2009 when I was on the beach having some beers with friends and girlfriends enjoying our “Independence” Day under the hot summer sun. A few wiffle ball games, some tosses of the football, and hey, how about a few beers. I mean, fuck, it was a holiday and a Saturday. Doesn’t make you a bad guy getting a buzz on once in a while does it? True story, I’m half a beer deep, that’s right…ONE beer, haven’t even started crushing yet and we see some middle-aged, short short wearing, yuppie typed tough guy come over and kick over our beers.
“Holy Shit, is this deuchbag for real?” I’m thinking, holding in all my rage to see what’s next.
He then, like he practiced it in the mirror all winter, lifted his shirt a bit and and flashed his wickedly awesome badge. Man, I was so not envious of him. I actually felt bad for the robot. Anyways, still thinking I did no wrong knowing that I’m close to 7 years over the legal drinking age,I proceeded to go up to the beach house with my buddy, fetch our ID’s along with everyone else’s, and show these tyrants they are making a mistake. Much to my complete disbelief, the two officers have already gotten a head start on writing each one of us a ticket. We’re grown adults. Its Independence Day for Christs Sake. I’m 27 years old and I’m getting a drinking ticket? Are you for real???? No one even had a beer in hand but we were found guilty of being in possession of a substance that keeps our struggling economy alive on some levels. What a catch 22. It took alot of patience from me not to instigate more issues with the officers, so I said my piece and was mum.
Obviously, when I got the $100 dollar violation in the mail, I immediately checked the “Appeal” Box which leads me to my rant. So, I’m sitting in Newburyport District Court this morning waiting for my hearing and I see yuppie-boy sitting next to the judge in the small little room where my case would be heard. It took about an hour and half to finally get a chance at redemption and I didn’t back down. Fuck that. I figured I was going to pay the ticket anyways so I might as well be heard. I first started off by telling them I hadn’t drank since 2007 (a blatant lie, but honestly, I didn’t murder anyone so my conscience is clear and I could really care less), I told them what a joke I thought this whole ticket process was on a national holiday, Did I really commit a crime? I also mentioned that the police officer violated my personal information rights by asking my girlfriend continuously for my social security number while I was inside collecting all of our ID’s. The judge and officer both completely dismissed my disagreement over my social security number and said its common practice. Oh really? I don’t ever remember giving out someone elses social in order to expedite their process of writing our a ticket. Apparently, they’re naive to identity theft as well. Then I it got heated. I wish I could have got an audio of this judge ripping me a new one. Worse than I ever got from any coach that I’ve played hockey for, but I really didnt mind. I was laughing inside, I said my piece, its a free country. Apparently, Judge Judy thought I disrespected Jesus (who I believe in) or a highly ranked army officer (which I respect the hell out of), telling me never to talk to a cop or a judge the way I did. It was a good 2 minute rant on her behalf. What a bitch she was. All I kept saying in my head continuously was “I don’t care, Fuck you, I don’t care, Fuck you, I don’t care fuck you etc”. At the end of her little speech, she let me off! Hahahahah. She believed me about not drinking. What a joke. If I told the truth I woulda had to pay that 100 big ones. I know for a fact because I was listening to the hearings before and everyone took the apologetic approach like they killed someones dog in order to get off the ticket. I simply told a little story. They lie to us. I will lie right back. I respect what most cops do. I really do. But drinking a beer on our nations holiday?!?!?!? Pleeeeeeeease, you aren’t getting my dough. So, got up, thanked her for dismissing my case and walked out of the room only to see everyone chuckling and staring at me because they heard the fireworks going off. Right when I got in my truck, I drove off and put this song on right away. Capital G off of Nine Inch Nails 2007 album “Year Zero”, It kinda fit the mood. Trent Reznor, full of so much rage, anti capitalism, and truth. An industrial God. Keep on rockin, Enjoy your night, and Fight for Your Rights!

A finales de los 80 , cuando el hard rock empezaba a convertirse en una parodia de si mismo, toda una corriente de nuevos músicos empezaba a dar sus primeros pasos con la única idea de romper con todo lo establecido, desde la estética a las letras de las canciones pasando por el tratamiento de la música en si misma. Si en los 80 todo estaba encajonado por estilos en los 90 no había límites creativos . Con esas premisas empezaron a despuntar grupos como Red Hot Chilippepers mezclando funk y soul con Hard Rock logrando una mezcla explosiva, Faith No More con su estilo único que bebía tanto del Trhash metal como del funk como del Rock, Nine Inch Nails que fusionaba techno y guitarras metaleras, Rage Against The Machine con su furiosa mezcla de rap y Metal, The Prodigy con su techno punk …y por supuesto el Grunge con Nirvana a la cabeza y con Soundgarden ,Alice in Chains y Pearl Jam como máximos exponentes del género. Una década en la que le dabas una patada a una piedra y salían nil grupos acojonantes (lo mismito que ahora…) y que nos dejó un legado de discos increibles y conciertos irrepetibles.

Anaïs; Marguerite; Sylvia — these are the first names of my most beloved novelists. All feminine in language and form, one might say. On the other hand, in film I retreat to: Bresson; Fassbinder; Bergman. All male, all quite effortless in their respective portrayals of despair. And despair is a characteristic that seems to appear within all of my self-confessed favorites. I like to feel moved and I like to feel that something, anything, is being evoked: brought to life.

In music I wouldn’t know which ones to turn to, which ones to award love and praise. There are frequent pauses in my listening to and caring for music. I’ll admit to being completely unaware of what is now and what is current: I have had the same singers and songs on repeat for years. Polly Jean, dear Piaf and Dylan; Leonard of course. Lately succumbing to the charm of Venus de Milo as well as songs about weeping.

In clothing — in clothing there is a lot I enjoy sinking into, be it in person or in mind. Over the years mostly admiring Alber and Charles and Yves. The old, quirky Marc. Fabrics, fabrics! Chiffon, silk, lace, velvet. Learning the advantages of fine quality over poor. Finding value there alongside visual stimulation.

I would have liked to drown inside a Vionnet, set sail wearing Schiaparelli: if there had been a me seventy-five years ago.

I apply to these great women, men, clothes: my senses. Their treasures come alive through the onset of my human senses. And what pleasure lies not within this! Using more than one’s sight. More than the habitual use of sight. The pleasures found through the other human senses often surpass that of seeing, of observing. Am I alone in thinking this? Longing for this? No, hardly, yet I feel starved of genuine emotion in literature and fashion, and films today. They disappoint me. I don’t strive backwards, leaning into romanticism – I simply am not a fan of the practical, not a fan of the mechanical but of fleeting moments of divine soul in form as well as in thought. I would lean into otherworldly realms if I could.

But I can’t.

I can merely trust Marguerite and Veronika Voss to inspire me; murder me internally. Knowing they will always encourage me to: build own character, allow layers to be built upon me, go off in pursuit of beauty and vivid life as they would; as they did. To think beyond habits for a while, be lead forward by senses.

Thought I’d share two things I’ve read recently. Both demonstrate how there’s great possibilities for authors, poets and all varieties of writers and creatives to get their work out there, all using the free-flowing intertubes, while still making money.

 

First, via a post in Spike – the Meanjin blog, I’ve learnt that uber-nerd and Boing Boing co-editor Cory Doctorow is conducting an experiment for his new book, With a Little Help. He’ll be releasing the book in myriad ways: from free Creative Commons-licensed digital copies, to a premium special-edition book valued at $10,000, and all sorts of stuff in between. Hence, the term ‘freemium’. This is somewhat similar to what Nine Inch Nails did with their music recently, but in a broader and more openly experimental way. This is all to explore what you can do when you give stuff away for free, but also self-publish and sell stuff via print-on-demand, or offer other freelance services. A big ol’ mixture. Check out his Publishers Weekly Column for even more detail. I’ll be reading his regular updates on the process with interest.

Second, PoetrySpeaks is a new website and a new business model, kind of like iTunes for poetry, or Facebook for poets. What’s especially cool about it is that it offers a combination of free and paid material from ‘classic’ or established poets, as well as both curated and user-driven spaces for less well-known poets to get their stuff out there, and even get paid for it. While the site still needs a lot of building up and a broader international diversity, it’s promising to see that the works of both established and emerging artists can stand side by side, giving everyone opportunities to spread their words and ideas and maybe make a little moolah.

 

So whether you write books or poetry, or whatever you create, it’s worth exploring the possibilities of the internet. Sometimes giving stuff away for free online can end up being very rewarding.
