前幾日幫兩個小孩一起洗澡的時候
RICH忽然大唱：當天是空的地是乾的～我要為你倒進狂熱～～
一副很陶醉的樣子
這時候nina看著他說：後～～～過時了啦！很老掉牙耶～～
結果Rich不服輸的說：哪有？！！
nina就問我說：媽媽～你說這首歌是不是很老掉牙？
我就說：哈哈哈哈….是有點啦！
然後我問 nina：不然現在要唱什麼？

Iara Jamra é uma daquelas pessoas que não tem como ‘não ir com a cara’. Embora já tenha entrado nos ‘-enta’ há alguns anos, o rosto de menina ainda é marcante nela. O que ainda ficou melhor quando ela abriu a porta e disse “Oi” com a voz fiel da Nina.

Tem pouco mais de um mês que entrevistamos a Nina, ou a Iara. Fazia muito calor naquele dia. A idéia de que a casa dela era perto do metrô Vila Madalena nos fez levou a uma caminhada que pareceu durar mais de meia hora.

Quem nos recepcionou ainda melhor foi a Xica, a vira-lata mais fofa e graciosa. Sem dúvida ela leva o prêmio de ‘pet do ano’ entre os entrevistados.

Relíquias

O mais legal foi ver que Iara ainda guarda o pente da Nina e muitas fotos e recordações daquela época.

A casa dela é cheia de quadros de alunos, de peças que ela fez quando ainda existia o Pod Minoga e os telefones dos amigos daquela época.

No fim, uma entrevista que parecia difícil – pela pouca memória da atriz – foi uma das que deixou mais recordações, digamos, engraçadas. E o melhor, nos rendeu mais uma relíquia.

Foi Iara quem escreveu a Carta ao Leitor do almanaque. Uma carta cheia de carinho, tanto pela época quanto por o que o programa significa hoje. Imperdível.

Depois de insistir muito que ela nos deixasse em algum barzinho do bairro, convencemos Iara a simplesmente nos deixar no Metrô. O que já foi de grande bondade. Já passava das 22h e a gente ainda não tinha esquecido o que tinha andado até chegar ao prédio dela.

Olhando, agora, achei que ela poderia ser mãe da Lady Gaga… bricadeirinha!

O Rock in Rio foi algo que marcou toda aquela geração, qualquer hora escrevo algo sobre ele e as bandas que se apresentaram, como a Blitz.

Entró al ambulatorio pasada la medianoche. Su hija de dos años y medio lloraba y ni siquiera las caricias y los mimos de aliento de su padre, que permaneció a su lado todo el tiempo que fue necesario esperar para que la viera el médico, la consolaron. Finalmente, y tras casi media hora, la enfermera la hizo pasar a una especie de antesala. Le hizo las pruebas necesarias para comprobar el diagnóstico del doctor, una úlcera ocular.

-¿Cómo pudo haberle ocurrido?, preguntó la ATS a los progenitores.

-Estábamos en la sala fumando, y la niña estaba con nosotros. Seguramente fue un descuido y no nos dimos cuenta de que el cenicero estaba lleno y la cantidad de cenizas acumuladas podían desparramarse por el aire, respondió el joven padre.

- Lo que hay que tener, es más cuidado, dijo la enfermera. No se puede fumar delante de una criatura y menos aún, no vaciar los ceniceros. ¿Qué edad tienes?, le preguntó al padre, quien convencía a la pequeña de que se dejar lavar el ojo derecho mientras la madre permanecía sentada en la silla de enfrente mirando la escena con las piernas y los brazos cruzados.

-24, le respondió.

- ¿Y tú?, le dijo a la madre.

- 19, le contestó.

-Tuviste a la niña de muy joven, añadió la profesional, quien no pudo evitar decirle que eso no la eximía de ser una madre responsable. Tendrías que dedicarte un poco más, desde el momento que decidiste tener a tu hija, deberías saber las obligaciones que asumías, mira a tu marido, le espetó.

-La tuve porque en ese momento no había píldora del día después ni ley que me permitiera abortar sin darle explicaciones a mi familia ni ningún otro recurso al que recurrir, dijo ofuscada. En cambio actualmente, gracias a Zapatero, las chicas tienen más soluciones, como les pasó a varias de mis amigas. Si me pasara lo mismo, ahora sí sabría qué hacer.

Resignado por la respuesta, el padre terminó de vestir a la pequeña, la tomó entre sus brazos, saludó a la enfermera con un  “muchas gracias” y cruzó la puerta. Segundos después, la madre se levantó de la silla, miró de reojo a la mujer vestida de blanco y salió inmediatamente. No dijo gracias y menos aún, adiós o hasta luego.

“Qué maleducada”, murmuró en voz alta la enfermera. Y gracias a Zapatero, pensó para sus adentros.

I discovered this just yesterday. Super Junior’s “What If” in their 3rd album (2009) has exactly the same tune as Nina’s “What If” in her “Smile” album which was released in 2003. The lyrics and the message are different though. I read somewhere that the song was originally composed by Sean Hosein and Dane Deviller. Maybe Nina and SuJu’s managers bought the rights from them. Nevertheless, I love both versions. And I like Nina now.

El tren de Delhi a Agra salio bien temprano. La estacion de trenes de Delhi es como el resto de la India: Un gran caos. Mucha gente sentada o tumbada en el piso de la entrada hasta los andenes.

El primer susto nos dio un tipo del control de seguridad que se nego a reconocer nuestros e-tickets. Sabiamos con seguridad que estaban confirmados, salio de una pagina del internet. Sin embargo nos mando a alguna taquilla para turistas donde nos enviaron a una oficina turistica al otro lado de la calle. Solo faltaban unos 30-40min. El encargado de esta oficina nos dijo que si estaba confirmado. De hecho no quizo escucharme cuando dije que el tipo de la seguridad nos habia negado la entrada.

De cualquier manera regresamos a la estacion y ya no habia control asi que fuimos directamente a los andenes.

Nuestro primer viaje en tren alla resulto bien entretenido. Nos dieron un curry de desayuno y un pequeño termo con agua mas un “té-kit”. Chido. Qué triste era el deber ver como vivian muchos hindus al lado de las vias, muy cerca. Demasiado cerca. Las vias al parecer sirven de baño para todos. Pasan muchas personas con su botellita de agua (para limipiarse el trasero) por ahi.

Llegando a Agra casi nos asaltaron los choferes de rickshaws. Nuestro objetivo consistia en conseguir un taxi “oficial” y prepagado por el dia. Escogimos uno que incluia el Taj Mahal y el Fuerte. Lo malo es que los que nos parecian mas castrosos entre los choferes resultaron siendo “choferes oficiales” y tuvimos que ir con uno de ellos. Nos trajeron al Taj Mahal.Casi no puedes llevar nada a dentro. Ningun libro, ni pila de reserva para la camara, nni varios otros utensilios. En el control de la entrada se pusieron unos franceses bien castrosos. No conocian estas reglas y se burlaban de los hombres de seguridad pensando que nadie los entendia. En algun momento estaba a punto de hacerles un comentario ya que detenian a toda la fila.

El Taj Mahal era muy bonito. En el primer lugar donde queriamos sacar fotos molestaban otra vez estos franceses castrosos. Se me fue la paciencia y les dije en francés que esperaran 2min… Uuuuuhhh que sorpresa para él. Luego se puso mas quieto en nuestra presencia. Sacamos varias fotos. Yo frente al Taj en un pie:

Lo que me sorprendio era el ver a tan pocos turistas extranjeros y a tantos hindus. Y eso es una atraccion tan importante. Debe de ser la mas grande que tiene la India. Supongo que es la pobreza de la India la que causa esta ausencia de mas extranjeros.

Del Taj Mahal nos querian hacer un tour por las tiendas para sacar comisiones. En la primera  nos hicieron visitar el taller donde producian pedacitos de piedras para pegarlos en huecos de objetos de marmol. Por pura cortesia visitamos la tienda por 5min. La siguiente era de joyeria. Pasamos 20seg dentro para anunciar que no nos intereso nada. Luego de decimos al guia que dejarara de llevarnos a lugares no planeados en el tour. Queria ir al restaurante con nosotros a las 11.30am. El restaurante estaba vacio y claro que nada economico como anunciado por el guia. Miramos el menu y nos fuimos.

El fuerte era gigante (arriba la parte de la entrada ya dentro). Con mucho el mas impresionante de todos. Después le pedimos al guia que nos dejara ya en la estacion de trenes. Como previsto se enojo bastante ya que rompimos todos su plan de llevarnos a mas tiendas. Los choferes de rickshaws de Agra son de los que mas friegan (que encontramos). La estacion de trenes estaba demasiado ocupada (piso) como para quedarse ahi mas tiempo. Por tanto caminamos con las mochilas alrededor. Segun la guia habia una mezquita y un bazar. La mezquita estaba rodeada por puestos del bazar y ademas estaba cerrada. Aparte de un restaurante un poco cochino no encontramos nada para comer. Salio muy barata la comida, pero mejor no saber como se veia la cocina.

Luego caminamos varias horas por el barrio. Fuimos los unicos turistas y por lo visto no vienen nunca hasta ahi. Era muy agradable que nadie nos molestara. Unos pocos niños nos pidieron dinero, pero aparte de eso no dejaron en paz de plano. Toda una experiencia. En cambio eramos la atracion numero 1. Todos nos miraban. Luego regresamos al mismo restaurante. Usé el “té-kit” del tren ahi. Me dieron agua caliente, un poco de leche y azucar. El café del que aseguraron que era disponible para David lo conseguieron en otra tienda. Chistoso!

Nina: a bruxa gospel.

La niña de tres años que presuntamente sufrió malos tratos continuados por el compañero sentimental de la madre,  murió anoche en el Hospital Universitario de la Candelaria (Hunsc) de Tenerife, según informaron fuentes del hospital en el que la menor fue ingresada el pasado martes.

La menor permanecía en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) y  había sufrido tres paradas cardiorrespiratorias de las que se pudo recuperar. Sin embargo, su estado de salud empeoró desde la tarde de ayer cuando sufrió una cuarta parada.

El suceso se produjo cuando la pareja de la madre de la niña, de 24 años de edad, se encontraba cuidándola. Sobre las 22 horas del pasado martes,  se dirigió a un centro de salud , situado en el municipio tinerfeño de Arona, donde se diagnosticó a la menor una parada cardiorrespiratoria, distintos traumatismos en el cuerpo, así como lesiones por quemaduras en la región dorsal y lumbar. Tras conseguir estabilizarla, fue derivada al Hunsc.

Agentes de la Guardia Civil fueron avisados de las lesiones y tras interrogar al compañero sentimental de la madre, procedieron a su detención como presunto autor de un delito de lesiones, imputaciones que podrán variar tras la muerte de la menor. Por su parte, fuentes judiciales no descartan que la madre de la víctima sea citada hoy para declarar.

Ontem teve aula para os pais na natação da Marina. Não que precise de muito para me deixar orgulhosa. Se ela piscar o olho bem piscadinho eu já acho que ninguém pisca como ela! Nadando então… já dá para pensar nas Olimpíadas de 2016! Crawl, costas, peito, golfinho… ela já aprendeu todas as modalidades.

So yes, my long suffering fans… I have returned, perhaps 5 kilograms heavier than when I left, with an immeasurable desire for ostrich biltong, and a nice tan.

The holiday to South Africa rocked. We got to do some familial bonding time, and a fair amount of time got spent with the friends. Mr & Mrs B… many thanks for the awesome trip to Knysna and back… much obliged. Now come and visit us so we can return the favour. Wooz and SPF… it was great to be able to spend so much time with you guys… thanks for taking the leave and making it all possible. Chris and Lily and Megan… thanks for the accomodation and for letting us skank up your bathroom one week before your wedding.

So. This Blog has been built up by three weeks absence, and is bound to be a little longer than normal. As usual, if you want to skip the personal stuff, jump ahead to the line of asterisks at the end of this piece.

South Africa. Well well. It was an absolutely awesome trip. One of my favourite things to do in the whole world is to get a car that I like driving and then to take a long road trip. And the wife and I got to do just that with her family. The four of us piled into their car and drove off on what worked out to be an insanely expensive, but very enjoyable experience. And my god did we shop. Everything from Chutney to Cuckoo Clocks went into that car.

Let’s see, first stop was the Willows in Port Elizabeth. This was a classic little caravan/chalet place, and we got a two-bedroomed chalet for the four of us. Very comfortable, very clean and so close to the sea that even my youngest students could throw a stone into the water from the living room. We were there for two nights… and used the time soaking up some much-needed shopping. And thus began my fixation with finding the perfect pie on the holiday. See… the wife and I recently stopped being vegetarian and started eating seafood. Well… poultry has been added to the pile of edibles now… meaning that Chicken was back on the menu. (For the record, we still don’t eat mammals…. which means that yes, TURKEY is back on the menu for Christmas.) With chicken scratching at the doormat, I started in on Chicken Pies.

Woolworths to the rescue. AWESOME chicken and mushroom pie. Try it. Very good.

An aside – If it feels as if all the wife and I did on this holiday was sleep and eat, well… we feel that way too. It was a great holiday.

After PE, we drove on to Sedgefield…. chosen because it was nice and close to Knysna, which was where our friends Stompie and Jax were getting married. Yes… we did it all on this trip, weddings included. The place in Sedgefield was fantastic, the view was simply unbeatable.

Stompie and Jax threw themselves a Euro-funded Afro-ethnic wedding. And it was really a great evening. Good to be able to catch up with them again, as we hadn’t seen them since leaving Ireland. The wedding itself was out-standing and if their friends are anything to go by, they’ll be blessed in the future.

After the wedding it was a case of doing some family time in and around Knysna and George. We took in the sights of Hoekwil and Wilderness, the former very rustic, the latter full of sea spray.
Much seafood was eaten. Much chicken was eaten.

One of the highlights for the wife and I of the Sedgefield trip was a visit to the Wild Oats Farmer’s market… where local farmers sold their wares. (Mainly foodstuffs, but some raw produce too.) We got to soak up a little culture…

It was here that I found the undisputed BEST chicken pie in South Africa. The Steam Whistle Stop Pie company, operating out of god-knows where, but with a stand at the market.

After Sedgefield, there remained only the trip back to East London, which took much longer than expected. This is because of a little known family problem. Fact: If you place two women with disposable income in the back seat of a car, they will hatch plans to visit as many farm stalls as possible on the way back home. This is in a misguided effort to fill the car with very fattening farm foodstuffs and home produce. Thus, some 600 kilometres, 23 pieces of fudge, a half-dozen bottles of chutney, three full wheels of cheese, and 39 farm stalls later….. the entire Western Cape was denuded of produce, the car was groaning on its springs and we got home. To a huge dinner cooked by my sister in law.

The rest of the trip was spent with friends and family. I got to get in a fair amount of roleplaying with Wooz and the bunch, and even GMed a demo session for Jebb and his bunch. An obnoxiously large amount of time was spent virtually supine on Wooz’ patio drinking coffee… which is the perfect way to conduct oneself on holiday. Besides, the view from there isn’t half bad either.

Three weeks flew by with absolutely no regard for how much it cost us to get there, or indeed just how long 14 hours in economy class feels. (Particularly when you are bloated on fudge and chicken pies.)
There were tears, there were hugs and then we were gone.

To everyone who made the effort, thanks a hell of a lot guys, it was a vastly enjoyable experience.

I just got goose bumps from listening to Rhap Salazar sing All By Myself, while debuting for the first time in the United States on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

Lovely tone and experienced singer, sounds like he’s been doing it for years!

I’m glad Ellen brought him over to the United States to share his talent with us.

Pocas cosas tengo que decir ante esta imagen. ¡Carajo, que esperanzas tiene la humanidad si sus cachorros cada vez son sexosos a una edad menor! ¡Y luego tratan de frenar la pedofilia! ¡Ja,ja! ¿como pueden evitar que un hombre le meta el pito a una niña que lo pide a gritos? ¡Pinches hipocritas! Es como pedirle a un hombre que muere de sed que no beba de la botella de agua fria que nosotros mismo le ponemos en la mano.

Bueno, no podemos esperar mas, si las crias desde temprana edad alimentan su debil mentacilla con taranovelas como “Rebelde”, “Putita Fea”  y otra mas, las cuales se pueden tomar como programas de enseñanza pedagogica de como ser una buena puta.

¡Asi que no nos debemos sorprender al ver una escena como la anterior en cualquier escuela de cualquier lado! Solo les encargo que si ven a dos menores haciendo sus porquerias en publico, les echen un balde de agua helada ¡A ver si asi se les baja la calentura!
