Students are encouraged to concentrate on their models of the NIS high school building.  Measurements need to be taken.  Your model needs to be fairly accurate.

Please refer to the rubric below as a guide to your assessment of your model.

When you initialize your NIS master, you give it a list of NIS slaves.
If you later add additional NIS slaves, or remove one of these
original NIS slaves, you must update the NIS list of servers. This is
done entirely from the NIS master server. First, you must output the
list of NIS servers::

nis_master# cd /var/yp/`domainname`
nis_master# makedbm -u ypservers > /tmp/ypservers
nis_master# vi /tmp/ypservers        add new slave to bottom of list.
(don’t change order or format.)

verify addition via::

nis_master# ypcat -k ypservers

now go to the new slave  (it must already be a client… ypinit -c)
Run the ypinit script. master-server-ip in the example below must be
the ip address of the master server::

new-slave # /usr/sbin/ypinit -s master-server-ip

:NOTE:  If you get the following error from ypinit:
**”Can’t enumerate maps from $master. Please check that it is running”**
then you should rerun ypinint and specify the hostname of the
master server
e.g. /usr/sbin/ypinit -s master-hostname

You can immediately get your machine running as a NIS slave by
running ypserv::

new-slave  # /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypserv

Whenever you reboot your machine at this point, NIS should
automatically be started.

Održan je Kurs: Investiranje na berzi, u Novom Sadu. Devet polaznika različitih profila (programeri, preduzetnici, studenti, ekonomisti, nastavnica) upoznali su se sa osnovnim finansijskim instrumentima i analizama. Postupno, korak po korak, su otkrivane tajne berzanskog poslovanja. Predavač je svakom polazniku posvetio dovoljno vremena. Polaznici su često bili u neverici i postavljali su pitanja tipa: da li je moguće da tako nesto postoji!?, pa i ja ću moći isto tako da trgujem, primenjujem strategije i zarađujem novac, šteta što ovo nisam otkrio ranije i td. Samo predavanje je ogoljeno od suvoparnih definicija i teoretisanja sa kojima smo mogli da se susretnemo na nekim dosadašnjim predavanjima. Akcenat je na modelima prilagođenim za praktičnu primenu i lako razumevanje. Predavač na samosvojstven način prenosi svoje bogato znanje i iskustvo kako bi ste i Vi nakon kursa mogli samostalno da nastavite usavršavanje, dobijete motivaciju da investirate, zaradite novac na berzi i naravno, popločate put ka Vašoj finansijskoj slobodi. Oggi vorrei raccontarvi un interessante aneddoto su come funzionano le privatizzazioni nei paesi est europei del post socialismo, potrebbe essere quasi divertente se non fosse tristemente reale.  Ma facciamo un passo alla volta.

Si chiama NIS (Naftna Industrija Srbije) la principale compagnia petrolifera serba, con sede a Novi Sad e monopolio delle importazioni di olio grezzo nel paese fino al 2011. Si occupa di tutti i livelli della produzione petrolifera, dalla ricerca ed estrazione di idrocarburi (principalmente nella provincia settentrionale della Vojvodina), alla loro importazione, alla raffinazione, al trasporto e alla messa in vendita sui mercati regionali. Vanta quasi 14.000 dipendenti e nel 2007 ha registrato profitti per 170 milioni di U$D.

Frattanto, c’è che prende sempre più piede il progetto da 20 miliardi di U$D di Eni-Gazprom per la realizzazione del gasdotto South Stream, che attraverso il Mar Nero e la Penisola Balcanica dovrà portare 63 miliardi di metri cubi annui all’Unione Europea, tanto affamata di energia. Questa grande occasione geoeconomica è una manna caduta dal cielo per la Serbia, che potrà contare oltre che sulla certezza di approvvigionamenti di gas russo, senza lo spinoso interlocutore ucraino, ad un grande afflusso di capitali per la realizzazione del condotto, a un deposito sotterraneo a Banatski Dvor, alle future tasse di transito. Ecco quindi la grande gioia della Serbia a fine 2008, e tralascio altre questioni decisive come l’appoggio politico della Russia su questioni che stanno molto a cuore ai fratelli balcanici, prima fra tutte l’indipendenza kosovara, per non mettere troppa carne sul fuoco.  In questo clima, a inizio di quest’anno la vendita di NIS prende sempre più le sembianze di una svendita, per la serie: “Ehi, i russi ci portano i loro miliardi d’investimenti, ma noi dal canto nostro gli cediamo sottocosto un’ottima azienda con alti profitti e solide prospettive!”. E all’epoca, l’analisi compiuta da Deloitte&Touche stimava il valore di NIS per 3 miliardi di U$D (2008), ma Gazprom avrebbe pagato appena 1,2 miliardi, di cui in realtà 721 milioni di U$D da ritenersi sotto forma di nuovi investimenti. E come se non bastasse ciò, lo stato non aveva nemmeno voluto prendere in considerazione altre offerte. Ma non andiamo troppo per il sottile, la Russia è un grande alleato, uno storico amico, un fedele compagno, festeggiamo per la reciproca riuscita del buon affare!

Sennonché, l’idillo dura ben poco: già a febbraio l’olandese KPMG, revisionando i bilanci NIS, dichiara che altro che profitti, per il 2008 si calcolano perdite per 3,2 miliardi di dinari (34 milioni di €UR)! Il governo la prende per un’offesa personale: che diamine vanno dicendo, ma cosa credono?! È il fior fiore dell’economia nazionale, un gioiello! Va bene, dicono i russi, sarà come dite, allora perché non prendiamo un altro revisore, per capire cosa sta succedendo? Sarebbe perfetto, ma lo stato purtroppo non dispone dei 500.000€ necessari per una nuova revisione. Nessun problema, pagano i russi! Viene così chiamato Ernst&Young che rimette mano alle cifre, rifà i calcoli, e a maggio se ne esce con un nuovo risultato: la perdita non è di 3,2, ma di 8 miliardi di dinari (85 milioni di €). Panico generale, imbarazzo del governo… chi appianerà le perdite? A chi tocca scucire? E chi, se mai verrà indicato qualcuno, verrà considerato responsabile dell’inaccuratezza dei dati (se non di frode vera e propria)? Se poi a fine 2008 si parlava di guadagni netti, NIS ha pagato delle imposte sui profitti dichiarati? In questo caso, verranno rimborsate? I russi intanto rassicurano: nessun problema, a noi interessava giusto sapere come stessero realmente le cose, nulla cambia, nessuno dovrà sborsare un centesimo. Ora, che con una perdita da 85 milioni “nessuno” debba pagare pare a dir poco sospetto… E possiamo star certi che Gazprom troverà il facile modo di rifarsi (sui serbi, of course) del tiro mancino. È infatti solo di poco tempo fa l’avviso dell’ennesimo rincaro del prezzo della benzina, giustificato questa volta non da rincari del barile sul mercato del greggio, ma da “maggiori costi di raffinazione”. Insomma, la Serbia continua a pagare il prezzo regionale più alto al litro (oltre 1€), per un carburante di qualità scadente.

La vera questione che mi preoccupa è però quale messaggio passa ora sul piano internazionale? Che immagine si faranno i potenziali futuri investitori, per un paese già declassato a classe BB- per quanto riguarda i rating sul credito, se non ci si può fidare nemmeno della classe dirigenziale, dove non sai mai se il pacco che ti rifilano è genuino o solo ben infiocchettato… Ci sono altre risorse importanti che la Serbia sarà in futuro felice di cedere, sono ora curioso di vedere poste quali premesse, a chi e con quali risultati. Perché il mondo non è la Russia.

Throughout our trip there has been multiple themes, but none better than the local news playing on our many bus trips. As with many news interruptions on the radio they make sure to jazz them up with catchy sounds and attention grabbing sequences of headlines and yet more sounds. The thing with these news casts is that they’ve essentially sampled the sound that would happen in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater when your character would do a secret move and intermittently placed this noise in between what I can imagine is every change of topic. In Serbia this was particularly pleasing, as multiple hours into a bus ride you would have fairly entertaining Boratesque music interrupted by what sounded like a guy mashing his Playstation controller mixed with unintelligible rapid speech. It’s seriously amazing, I’ll try to get a video of it just to verify that I’m not just ranting out of my ass here. On a more exploratory note, Sarajevo was pretty radical. The devastation and first hand testimony didn’t come close to that of Mostar, but it was still a great experience. We once again went on an a tour, but this one was considerably shorter and not quite as impactful. We explored the tunnel that the Sarajevans used to escape the city during their time under siege in the 90’s. The city was comprised of way too many cemetaries, with an over abundance of them showing lives cut short in the mid 90’s. We had a modest Halloween here and hit up some local pubs, viewing some modest local Halloween apparel and having a solid time. We then ventured on to Nis, Serbia, not exactly a must see, but a spot to break up a heinous 15 hour journey. Nis was a nice surprise though, featuring an exceptionally clean hostel, amazing food and an overall clean and welcoming city. We found a restaurant from a local that was located in an alley that was off the culinary chain. My dish (which I indulged in back to back nights) featured FOUR types of chicken (chicken breast cooked to perfection, chicken pieces wrapped in bacon, chicken breaded with sesame seeds and chicken cordon bleu with mushrooms). That meal and 2 beers, $13…   thank you very much. This ain’t no Sizzler guys, seriously, visit Slovenia and Serbia just for the sake of your palate’s enjoyment. We’re now in Sofia, Bulgaria having some mellow days and getting psyched for Istanbul. We’ll be taking off likely tomorrow, and we’re as the Australian’s would say “sick-as car park boardie heaps” to be going. On a final note, what’s up with showers where you have to hold the shower head whilst cleaning ones bod? Have you ever realized how much the cleanliness of armpits suffer? In order to clean your arm pit properly you basically have to chicken wing your non shower head holding arm and feebly clean. Get a life, mount your shower heads.

Just across the river of the centre of town, there is a stone gate part of the medieval Nis fortress originating from the 18th century, a major tourist attraction. There is a park hidden inside the fortress.

It reminded me of a performance I saw at Mezzo channel once. It was a young lady playing Mozart’s Fantasy. The white grand piano was in the middle of a centuries-old sequoia forest. The music was floating in the air bringing peace and harmony. That’s how it feels like in this park.

Serbians are emotional people, very patriotic, almost chauvinists. They went through a lot during the war in the 90ties. If you go to Beograd, you will still see buildings hit by the bombs during the war. I think they are kept that way so people remember what happened and what a dirty thing the war is.

When it comes to the language, Serbians have one of their own, which I would characterize as Balkan language. Practically, if Bulgarians, Serbians, Slovenians, Macedonians and people from Montenegro talk, every person in his own language, they will manage to lead a conversation and understand each other. Here is to mention that Serbia is maybe the only country which transformed its language from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet. Today inscriptions on both alphabets are still seen throughout the country.

Cuisine in Serbia, as in most Balkan countries, is very tasty and rich in meat dishes. If you go to Serbia don’t forget to order “pleskavitsa”. Pleskavitsa is easy to be described – it is just as if a very big meat ball was smashed by an elephant. It’s very delicious and could be found even as fast food. The atmosphere in restaurants however is another thing. In two word – Balkan atmosphere.

O gol, logicamente não valeu, mas mesmo assim merece uma placa no Nissan Stadium.

O autor do gol é o célebre e controverso craque iugoslavo – no mundo de hoje seria sérvio – Dragan Stojkovic.

Pro mais novos, Stojkovic era um daqueles clássicos camisas 10 que hoje quase não existem e pelos quais tanto choram os mais românticos dos críticos. Extremamente técnico, errava no máximo 3 passes por temporada e era capaz de dar lançamentos perfeitos de 50, 60 metros.

Na Copa de 90 Stojkovic foi o grande jogador da Iugoslávia e fez uma partida épica contra a Espanha nas oitavas de final, marcando dois golaços! Ironicamente foi um dos 3 jogadores que perderam os pênaltis que resultaram na eliminação iugoslava nas quartas contra a Argentina.

Um jogador fantástico que na final da Champions League de 1991, atuando pelo Olympique de Marselha, se negou a bater um pênalti contra seu ex clube, o Estrela Vermelha de Belgrado, seu time de coração. Nesta final os iugoslavos ficaram com o título com um 5 X 3 nas penalidades.

Mas 2 anos depois Stojkovic se redimiu com a torcida da riviera francesa e ajudou o mesmo Olympique de Marselha a conquistar a Champions de 93, derrotando o poderoso Milan na decisão.

Sem mais delongas, vale a pena ver o lance do técnico Dragan Stojkovic.

O Serviço Federal de Segurança da Federação Russa (FSB), através da sua estação em Murmansk, no Oblast de Murmansk, região no noroeste da Rússia, deteve um alegado espião norueguês na cidade de Severomorsk, cidade de pequena dimensão localizada a 25 quilómetros de Murmansk. O cidadão norueguês foi detido na posse de equipamento de vigilância e de mapas confidenciais com a localização de várias instalações militares em solo russo. O Etterretningstjenesten (NIS) – Serviço Norueguês de Inteligência – é conhecido por manter a base de Severomorsk – uma das principais bases navais da Frota Russa do Mar do Norte – sobre forte vigilância.

Currently the vessel is on its voyage to european ports, for discharging and as well as loading.

Nis is one of the biggest cities in Serbia. It is located in the Valley of Nishava River not far from the Bulgarian border. Nis is often referred as the bridge between East and West because of its strategic location.

It takes an hour an a half from the Bulgarian border to the town by car. The travel is comfortable and fast. The road goes mainly through cultivated green areas.

I had to stay at hotel Ambassador in the centre of town. I expected something corresponding to the name. In reality the hotel appeared to be a remain from the communist epoch. Like many others, after the democracy, this hotel once symbol of town, was left to its own destiny. Nowadays it’s shabby and uncomfortable. By contrast with the hotel, people I met everywhere were most friendly and smiling.

In front of the hotel there is a statue of national hero which marks the very centre of town. It is close to the river Nishava where a bridge separates the central part from an open-air market where the bus station is. The market is of the kind that you could buy anything – new and used, including food, clothes and flowers. It is a little oriental with all colours and smells.
