Mija pół roku jak jesteśmy razem.  Nie: ja jestem z Grześkiem, tylko: jesteśMY razem.

Obudziłam się z uśmiechem na twarzy. Poranne słońce przebijało się do pokoju przez ciemnopomarańczowe zasłony. Grześ już tulił mnie słodko i całował po policzku. Wiem, jakie mam szczęście. Jestem JesteśMY siebie pewni. Dziękuję kochanie za to pół roku przy Tobie – usłyszałam. Po czym padło pytanie: Jak Ty ze mną tyle wytrzymujesz? A ja sama się dziwię: jak on znosi mnie? Dziewczynę wymagającą, ciągle chorującą, w dodatku – niezbyt ładną, taką sobie? Będę zastanawiać się jeszcze długo.

Dostałam płatki miodowe do łóżka. O tak, Kochanie, rozpieszczaj mnie w ten sposób do końca życia! Błogo spędziliśmy ranek. Kocham Jego dotyk, spojrzenie. Nie potrafiłabym żyć bez Niego. Zjeżdżanie na weekend do domu pod pewnym względem jest dla mnie katorgą, bo tak źle mi bez Ciebie zasypiać, Grzesiu.

Wiem, że on czuje to samo. Skąd? Naleśniki od Niego mi to dzisiaj powiedziały. I do tego szczerze przy tym się do mnie uśmiechały. : )

Słowo o wyprawie Igora wspomina o kniaziu Wszesławie, który nocą pod postacią wilkołaka przebiegał drogę wielkiego Chorsa.Dla ignorantów Chors jest groźny, lecz dla swoich wyznawców jest przewodnikiem i opiekunem. Niejeden zbłąkany wędrowiec dzięki jego światłu odnalazł drogę. Jego poświata rozświetla mokradła wskazując wędrowcom bezpieczną drogę. Pod swoją opiekę bierze on jednak również wilki, wilkołaki i zbłąkane dusze, dlatego oddając się jego opiece nie należy oglądać się za siebie.

Znalazłem powyższą godzinę. O tej porze mój mózg robi klik i wchodzi w sleep mode. Co nie znaczy, jak widać, że grzecznie leżę w łóżku i śpię. Jestem raczej w stanie liminalny, jak powiedzieliby przemądrzali ludzie albo, inaczej, eksploruję przyjemną przestrzeń graniczną między totalną, stresową przytomnością dnia roboczego a senną utratą świadomości. Druga trzydzieści rano to dobra godzina dla kogoś o tak niezdrowym stylu życia jak ja.
Pojawiają się pomysły, wizje, ekscytacje. Oczywiście nie ma już o tej porze mowy o jakimkolwiek pisaniu, szkicowaniu, planowaniu. Jest tylko niecierpliwe, podniecone czekanie aż wyczerpią się baterie.

Poker – podoba mi się coraz bardziej. Świetna gra na rozruszanie szarych komórek. Dlatego dziś oprócz kodu, dałem sobie trochę luzu i uderzyłem w jaskinię hazardu. Oczywiście dla zabawy – nie pozbywam się swojego majątku.

Oczywiście większe emocje wyzwala we mnie liga futsalu, którą zaczynamy z kolegami już w niedzielę. Opaska kapitańska dotarła, teraz pozostaje czekać na koszulki (mam nadzieję, że będziemy mogli od początku ligi grać w jednakowych trykotach).

No i co ważne – zacząłem pracę nad komercyjnym projektem. To daje kopa.
Ale wciąż mnie gryzie fakt, że pozostawiłem po sobie niedokończoną robotę – damn!
Mimo nowych obowiązków postaram się ukończyć niedokończone sprawy.

A na pewno nie kłamie czyste.

Walczę z zadaniem mi postawionym. Nie lubię zostawiać za sobą niedokończonej roboty. Dlatego też wciąż nie śpię, chociaż w oczy zagląda mi piąta rano, o której to budzi się do życia wiele wspaniałych stworzeń-wliczając w to pewną część ludzkości.

Już jakiś czas temu chciałem przerzucić się z trybu sowy na tryb rannego (bynajmniej podczas wojny) ptaszka. Jak na razie nie za bardzo mi to wychodzi – się po prostu przyzwyczaiłem i już!

Mimo wszystko trzeba mi to zmienić bo przecież liga się zbliża i głupio by było snuć się po boisku.

Despite the fact that people cost money you will never be able to run a commercial 24/7 site with just 2 people in a secure and safe 24/7 way. On the one hand side you burn your employeees on the other hand side you will potentially break local law regarding workers rights.

And, to be honest, If you want to run your application you have to think about what the work of an NOC will be, is it?

• monitoring, remediation
• reporting, escalations

or even?

• application support
• ops tool maintainance
• tasks like backup, rollback
• qa topics?

the more you think about the more you will come to the conclusion that an active NOC can be a major advantage for your organisation and business. So, if it is not built as a technical Call Center but moch more as the name claims an operations center, than you will gain major advantages. But his means, that you need a structure and the right people, not 2 potentially not hundreds. And you need time, a working NOC is not a matter of a bunch of definitions and nice mission statements. You need role separation (dev, sys engineering, ops, noc), technical clarification and setup of the NOC itself, including processes, space, people and resources.

So what does this mean for startups?

You should potentially think about a shared NOC or think about when the right point will be for thinking about a NOC. And believe me, there will be long time no potential need for getting such an or structure up and running. Try to work based on OnCall procedures as long as possible. NOC costs money, even if there is major benefit. And a NOC requires working structures and procedures. So only start building a NOC if you are already aware of processes.

Wstałam dziś naprawdę wcześnie. Kiedy budzik nie zdążył zadzwonić, a do moich drzwi zapukał tata, pomyślałam: jak wcześnie, jak krótko i czemu? Wsiadłam do samochodu i próbowałam zasnąć, ale niestety, nie udało się. Patrzyłam za okno, jak wstaje dzień. W sumie to dobrze że nie spałam.

Dawno nie miałam okazji podziwiać z jednej strony wschód słońca, z drugiej strony pełni księżyca. Ciekawe zjawisko. Kiedy z mroku nocy zaczynają wydobywać się pierwsze delikatne łuny słońca.  Niebo ma kolor akwareli, rozlanych barw na ciemnym nieboskłonie.

A Network Operations Center, or NOC, is the primary workspace engineers utilize to monitor, manage and troubleshoot problems on a telecom network. The Network Operations Center offers oversight of problems, configuration and change management, network security, performance and policy monitoring, reporting, quality assurance, scheduling, and documentation by utilizing sophisticated network management, monitoring and analysis tools.

The NOC provides a structured environment that effectively coordinates operational activities with all participants and vendors related to the function of the network. The NOC technicians typically provide support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Typical daily processes include:

• Monitoring operations of all backbone links and network nodes.
• Ensuring continuous operation of servers and services.
• Providing quality support for network users.
• Troubleshooting of all network and system related problems.
• Opening tickets to track and document resolution of problems.
• 24 hours a day, 7 days a week supervised operation by network and system engineers.

There are currently two hot topics related to NOCs where we have been involved: 1) NOC’s O&M efficiency and 2) NOC’s Energy management. As we have recently finished one assignment related to the 1st topic I wanted to share some relevant info for those executives working for telecom operator and willing to improve their O&M NOC processes and procedures.

Most of the CTOs in the telecom industry are under pressure to cut costs while raising network service levels. It is therefore key identify the best strategy towards cost optimization, starting with efforts that will result in returns in six months or less. These returns are then re-invested to drive longer-term, transformational projects. Network automation initiatives are among the projects with the fastest return, often in less than two months.

My first assignment in NOC O&M automation and design started in the Middle East in 2004, when we supported MTC (today’s Zain) in defining the e2e O&M strategy for the NOC. Since then, mmC Group has been supporting different operators across Africa and Latin America in similar exercises.

We therefore built experience in designing, building, and installing Command Centers, Control Centers, Network Operation Centers, Network Management Centers, Network Control Centers, Data Centers, Security Operations Centers, Mock Trading Rooms and various other monitoring intensive control facilities.

After four years of processes and procedures redefinition I wanted to share a brief presentation with mmC Group’s O&M framework for telecom operators, highlighting those processes that, in our opinion, are critical for the operation of the network and could bring a significant upside in efficiency when automated.
