In October 2007, I saw an ENT for tinnitus. He scheduled me for a polypectomy and then performed three aggressive nasal and sinus surgeries and an undocumented nose job. The nose job has been confirmed by several plastic surgeons. He left my breathing and my face a shambles. For a year, I lived with the fear that I had atrophic rhinitis, a rotting condition of the sinuses caused, in the modern world, by aggressive sinus surgery: Atrophic Rhinitis Paper. A person with atrophic rhinitis eventually develops a stench in her nose so overpowering that she can be smelled blocks away.

The surgeon who did the damage documented on three post-operative visits that I did have atrophic rhinitis. The next ENT wasn’t sure. Eventually, the AR question settled into a collective opinion that I have some type of rhinitis which remains undefined.

For the first eight months, my breathing was so compromised and my nasal dryness so torturous that I could not imagine a future. My goal was to achieve a level of breathing and nasal balance that I could learn to endure. The specter of becoming a creature emanating a nauseating stench loomed. I held the image at bay. One thing at a time.

In spite of intense pain and fear, I desperately wanted cosmetic repair. I came close to having a revision rhinoplasty less than one year after the surgeries. It fell through. Again, last summer, I saw an ENT plastic surgeon. “It’s too soon,” he said. “You’re still healing. If you have surgery, healing will stop.”

“Still healing?” I said. “It’s been almost two years.”

“Your surgeries were very aggressive,” he said. “Normally, we say to wait one year. For you, three years.”

No way, I thought, am I going to live with this hideous nose for another year. I found another plastic surgeon who agreed to do the surgery. At the eleventh hour, the surgery fell through due to a low thyroid level. By the time the problem resolved, I had changed my mind. The surgeon and I had not agreed on aesthetics.

I believe the low thyroid level was a divine intervention. The surgery planned for me was too aggressive and not what I wanted, but more than that—I am still healing.

In increments so tiny as to be almost indiscernible, my nasal health steadily improves. Some of the improvement is due to the Premarin I have put in my nose. Some of it is due to use of the natural remedies listed in the pages under Healing. And some is due to the factors that constitute Breath.

In the dark days following the surgery, I grasped that my anatomy had been altered. Bone and cartilage, blood vessels, glands, nerves and mucosa, had been cut out of my nose. The most overwhelming feeling was of something missing. Not no nose as a fellow ENS sufferer has described it. For me, it was a feeling of partial amputation, like the removal of one and half lungs. Lying in my darkened bedroom, I envisioned God breathing life into the first human. This was how the nose was formed, I thought–out of dust. The nose was formed out of the act of breathing. The same way a muscle is formed out of an act of doing.

I stumbled through the snow, in those days, pressing my lips together and sucking air in through my partial nose. I sucked with all my might, in the effort to inflate my partial lungs. That is the way I experienced my lungs, too, and still do, though not as keenly. The loss of lung sensation is due to the nose-lung reflex discussed on The Empty Nose Syndrome Association website: Respiration Article.

Sitting in bed, I practiced the deep breathing exercises from Richard Hittleman’s Yoga: 28 Day Exercise Plan. I hung my head over the edge of the bed in an effort to draw blood into my nasal area. I sat with orange slices, inhaling their scent. I envisioned wee sprigs of mangled glands springing back to life, beating their chest, flexing their might.

When I was too tired to do anything else, I meditated on the act of creation. For me, the image was one of God blowing air into my nose, forming, once more, the organ of breath. But you don’t have to share my archetypes in order to meditate upon the healing of a body part. There are many excellent resources on the subject of meditation and visualization. Here is one: Guided Imagery.

You may never be the way you were before. But I am here to tell you, you can get better.

Rhinoplasty, otherwise known as a ‘nose job’, typically involves the removal of nasal tissues and resculpting of the nose to create a more aesthetically pleasing profile. However, rhinoplasty is often associated with post-operative pain, and this pain is a common fear of rhinoplasty patients. Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj, Director of the Aesthetic Institute of New York and New Jersey, has recently unveiled an innovative rhinoplasty procedure that does not use traditional packing methods and results in less pain.

Dr. Slupchynskyj uses a state-of-the-art plant-based biopolymer material which is easily absorbed into the tissue and helps with the clotting process. He states that, “rhinoplasty can be performed with minimal or no bleeding post-operatively, therefore with a majority of my patients, I don’t use nasal packing…if it is necessary, I use a dissolvable packing which is much more comfortable for the patient and disintegrates over 24 hours.”

Rhinoplasty procedures continue to be among the most sought-after cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures for men and women alike, but many people refrain from undergoing this procedure because of the pain associated with it. The procedure typically takes several hours and requires several days and weeks of downtime. Only a few surgeons use advanced techniques that can minimize pain and irritation associated with the packing process, and this may provide more options for patients.

Dr. Slupchynskyj is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngolgoy, and has advanced training for the head, neck and face. He has been named one of the Top Surgeons of 2009 by the Consumers’ Research Council of America, and has created a number of surgical alternatives including the “S” implant that helps create an attractive profile for African American patients.

(Sun)

Friends and family of Amy Winehouse are trying to talk her out of more plastic surgery – after she set her heart on having a nose job.

The Rehab singer, 26, went under the knife last month to have her bust boosted from a 32B to a 32D. Now she says the tip of her nose is “witch-like” and wants it fixed.

A source said: “Since her boobs, she’s been scrutinising her body. Everyone tells her there’s nothing wrong with her nose. But Amy does nothing by halves. Now she’s beaten drugs, plastic surgery must not become her next obsession.”

Of all the surgical procedures carried out by plastic surgeons, a rhinoplasty (or nose job, nose sur

Of all the surgical procedures carried out by plastic surgeons, a rhinoplasty (or nose job, nose surgery) is possibly the most complex. A nose job can be carried out with all the surgical incisions on the inside or with some on the skin; it can be performed with or without using cartilage or bone grafts; the surgery can be performed for breathing difficulties and can also be implemented completely non-surgically using injections of skin fillers to fill out some of the nose skin to hide minor imperfections in the nose.

Before Rhinoplasty Surgery
Before rhinoplasty surgery, your surgeon will assess your nose. You will need to say what you would like to achieve and what you do not like about your nose. It is quite important to be very clear about this, because there is so much we can do on a nose, and being very specific is invaluable to the surgeon. Your surgeon will ask you about your overall health and whether you have any previous relevant concerns with your nose (operations, injuries, breathing difficulties, and so on). The checkup involves looking and feeling the nose internally and externally along with a breathing assessment. Your rhinoplasty surgeon will also have a look at the skin of the nose and will assess the size and shape of the rest of your face. Most people are looking for a nose that is in consistency with the face. If, for example, the chin is too small, this may give the nose an apparently prominent appearance in the face. So, sometimes your plastic surgeon may talk about other additional procedures.

Performing Nose Surgery
Firstly, we need to work on the cartilages and bones that form the nose. Together, the cartilages and bones form the skeletal support of the nose, and nose surgery changes these structures. Your skin then re drapes across the new skeletal framework. A “closed rhinoplasty” is one in which the incisions are made on the inside of the nostril, and an “open rhinoplasty” is one in which a small incision is made in the skin under the tip of the nose which separates the two nostrils. Some nose reshaping surgeons do more open rhinoplasties as they feel they can predict the final outcome more readily, but other surgeons do more closed rhinoplasties as the final result is achieved with less swelling and a shorter recovery period in a procedure that already has a notoriously long recovery period before the final results are seen. Usually, the nose requires a plaster on it for a week or so, and have a couple of packs inserted to prevent nose bleeds for a day or so.

Expected and Unexpected Results
Although the final results are not seen for at least a year after a rhinoplasty, there are some things we expect during the rehabilitation and some things we hope not to see. Of course, we expect a change in the look of the nose; we want this to be your expected outcome, but everyone needs to be realistic about the precisesize and shape of the final result. Most of the time we cannot give someone the ideal nose they have pictured in their mind as their perfect nose. We are looking for improvement rather than faultlessness. Some of the after effects we hope not to see include things like infections, abnormal bleeding and swelling, over and under-correction, cartilages and bones moving after they have been set in a particular position, asymmetry, healing problems and breathing difficulties. Also, further nose surgery may be required to improve final results. Importantly, your nose actually continues to grow throughout your life so it will change shape as the years go by.

Conclusion
With all the complexities and intricacies involved in nose job surgery, it is arguably one of the most challenging cosmetic surgery procedures to do well. Most nose reshaping surgeons will be happy with a patient who makes a considered judgement about whether to go ahead with surgery. If a surgeon charges for the consultation then it is a small amount in comparison to the cost of surgery, so don’t let that put you off making an informed decision.

With rhinoplasy being the second most popular plastic surgery procedure performed in 2004 (according

With rhinoplasy being the second most popular plastic surgery procedure performed in 2004 (according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons), nose surgery is moving from the realm of the rich and famous into the homes of regular people like you and me. Now that this procedure is more accessible than ever, it’s only natural that you will be exposed to a lot of information about it – some true, some doubtful, some downright false. In this article, we’ll try to address some of the most popular misconceptions surrounding rhinoplasty.

1. Every plastic surgeon can do a rhinoplasty surgery – Technically, yes. Most plastic surgeons will have rhinoplasty on their list of performed procedures. However, that doesn’t mean that every plastic surgeon can achieve good rhinoplasty results. Rhinoplasty is a challenging procedure, both from a medical and an artistic point of view. A plastic surgeon must have a thorough understanding of the internal anatomy of the nose and the workings of the respiratory system, so that the reshaped nose is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also fully functional. Since the nose is such a major factor in our face’s overall appearance, the plastic surgeon also needs to have a strong sense of artistry, to create a nose that fits beautifully with the rest of the patient’s face.

2. Rhinoplasty is motivated by vanity – Despite the widely-held belief that people get nose surgery solely for cosmetic reasons, it’s not uncommon for this procedure to correct breathing problems (e.g. a septum deviation) in addition to enhancing the appearance of the nose. At the same time, it has been established that in patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their nose, having rhinoplasty may lead to a physical and emotional transformation that will enhance their self-confidence and ultimately their quality of life. From this perspective, the effect of rhinoplasty is comparable more to a therapeutic treatment than a selfish gratification for the patient’s vanity.

3. Rhinoplasty is painful – Unlike other plastic surgery procedures like breast implants or tummy tuck, rhinoplasty is not usually painful. Most surgeons perform rhinoplasty under general anesthesia, so you will be fully asleep and will not feel a thing. After the surgery, you will have a small nose cast for 7 to 10 days, during which you will most likely feel congested, as if having a cold. The area around your nose and eyes may be swollen and bruised (especially if your nasal bones have been reshaped); however, the overall discomfort you will experience after the surgery is minimal.

4. Everyone will notice you had a nose job – If your nose requires a major change – like removing a large bump – people around you might indeed notice the difference in your nose. However, if your nose needs only a refinement of the bridge or tip, chances are the perceived change in your appearance will be less dramatic than you anticipate. After all, nobody is as intimately familiar with your facial features as you are, so making a minor change to them may not be very obvious to the outside world. Also, keep in mind that a good surgeon will avoid providing you with an “operated-looking nose”, and instead will strive to achieve a balance between your reshaped nose and the rest of your facial features, so they naturally complement each other.

5. Rhinoplasty will get you the nose of your dreams – While having rhinoplasty can dramatically improve the appearance of your nose, there are certain limitations to what a plastic surgeon can do, based on your given bone and skin structure. At the same time, there is a chance that you won’t be fully satisfied with the results of your surgery. Statistics show that between 10% and 15% of rhinoplasty surgeries require a secondary procedure, to either enhance or correct the results of the first. This is sometimes due to the nose healing and developing in ways that the surgeon cannot predict or control. In other cases, the patients’ dissatisfaction with the final results is due to poor communication with the doctor about the intended outcome of the surgery. However, this occurrence is an exception rather than the rule, since most patients report to be happier with their physical appearance after the surgery than before.

So what is the key to successfully achieving the nose of your dreams? Going back to point one – it’s carefully researching, selecting and communicating with your surgeon! How long has he or she been performing nose surgeries? What is their surgical accreditation? What does their safety record look like? Take a good luck at images of his or her rhinoplasty patients – does their reshaped nose measure up to your idea of beauty? Can you picture your own nose looking like that? If you do, the next step consists in ensuring that both you and your surgeon have a very clear understanding of what you expect your nose to look like and what is attainable from a medical point of view. Armed with good knowledge and a positive attitude, you’re on your best way to achieving a more attractive and confident YOU!

In Asia, and everywhere else in the world, people are paying attention to Korean celebrity plastic s

In Asia, and everywhere else in the world, people are paying attention to Korean celebrity plastic surgery rates. Many journalists and spectators have pointed out that almost every famous woman working in Korea today has had some sort of cosmetic procedure, whether it be eyelid surgery or breast implants. In response to this apparent trend, many are questioning the root cause. Some speculate that the advances in plastic surgery techniques in Korea are the reason. Still others ask if the increased influence of Western and other cultures is at its heart. Skeptics, though, think that this is not something confined to Korea, just that it is more widely reported there.

Double eyelid surgery is one of the most common procedures in Korea among celebrities. In this surgery, the surgeon creates the appearance of a more defined eyelid with a small incision above the eye. It has been popular for years with both men and women, and it is easy to perform with little recovery time. Proponents say that patients will look younger and their eyes will appear wider after the surgery. So many Korea celebrities have used this procedure that it is rarely even reported anymore.

Nose jobs, officially called Rhinoplasty, are also extremely popular. Patients undergo this surgery to alter the appearance or size of their nose. It requires more recovery time than eyelid surgery, and with drastic changes to the appearance of the nose, can be quite invasive. Nose jobs are known for their ability to alter a person’s appearance completely. The celebrity perhaps most well known by the changing shape of her nose is Seo In Young. Many blogs and tabloids catalogue her different looks to highlight just how many times they have changed.

It is not uncommon for people to attribute this trend to the advances the country has made in plastic surgery over the years. The plastic surgery tourism industry in Korea is huge, with patients coming from all over to take advantage of the skilled surgeons and techniques. More and more doctors are offering cosmetic services, some even willing to come to a patient’s house. Prices have dropped due to the increased supply of popular procedures, making them more affordable for the average Korean.

Many critics point out that plastic surgery by celebrities is not confined to Korea, Koreans may just be more open about what they have had done. There are a number of actresses in Los Angeles who have visibly altered their looks through breast implants, Botox injections, or nose restructuring. Though it is uncommon for a star to admit to cosmetic surgery, tabloids are constantly speculating about it. Some observers wonder if it only seems as though a higher percentage of Korean celebrities have had plastic surgery because they feel fans will accept it.

Korean celebrity plastic surgery is one of the most widely debated issues in celebrity culture. The degree of significance of this trend, and how widespread it actually is, has yet to be determined.

As our society becomes more and more diverse, aesthetic medicine is getting away from the one-size f

As our society becomes more and more diverse, aesthetic medicine is getting away from the one-size fits all mentality of the past. Treatments today are increasingly being tailored to the particular needs of various ethnic groups. Los Angeles has a large Asian population and responding to their particular aesthetic concerns has become important to many cosmetic practices here. One of the more common reasons that Asians come in, is because they are unhappy with their nose. Most do not want a Caucasian nose. They want to have a higher, better-defined bridge, but they do not want to go through surgery. Some just do not have the time to go through the healing process, some are afraid of the risks involved, some can’t afford the expense, and some are afraid of ending up with unnatural results.

Typically, the Asian nose has a lower, flatter, job, and less defined nasal bridge than the Caucasian counterpart, with a rounder tip and wider spaced nostrils. Of course, there is wide variation among the different peoples of Asia and among different individuals. Also, standards of beauty differ. It is the job of the cosmetic specialist to understand the aesthetic result that the patient is looking for and to communicate the medically feasible possibilities. The patient then decides what should be done and the practitioner delivers the procedure with maximal precision and minimal risk.

The traditional mindset is that an operation is the only way to correct cosmetic nasal irregularities, even the most minor bumps or asymmetries. Over the last five years, that concept has been shown to be no longer true. Injectable fillers have been used for the last five years (I prefer Radiesse – a calcium based temporary filler that lasts about 10 to 12 months and holds its shape very well) to raise the nasal bridge and make the, job, tip higher and less round. This procedure has been called the Non Surgical Nose Job or Non Surgical Rhinoplasty.

Non-surgical cosmetic improvement of the nose only became possible recently as new fillers became approved by the FDA. Radiesse and its cousins Juvederm and Restylane are safe, natural looking and relatively long lasting. Over the last five years, as injectable fillers have been used as an effective alternative to rhinoplasty, the Non-Surgical Nose Job has demonstrated itself to be a procedure that is safe and effective with significantly less discomfort and risk than traditional rhinoplasty.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is a relatively painless procedure that requires minimal downtime and post-procedure care. Many patients resume normal activities immediately after their injections, returning to work or a busy social calendar on the same day as the appointment. Slight bruising or swelling may occur at the site of injection, however the severity of the inflammation pales in comparison to the aftermath of traditional rhinoplasty. If discoloration or tenderness does occur, it usually disappears within a few days. The procedure is usually performed in a couple of sessions so that the changes are gradual. There is never a sudden transformation – no “Aha! You had your nose done!” moments.

Topical anesthesia is adequate for pain control, and icing the nasal area just before injection reduces the chances, job, of bruising. Patients should take Arnica Montana orally after their injection – it works well for reducing any swelling or bruising that may follow. Patients can use Tylenol, but should not use non-steroidal anti inflammatory medications (Advil, Alleve, etc) for 3 days or wear sunglasses for 2 weeks after the procedure. No other limitations are required. The Non-Surgical Nose Job usually takes between 10-15 minutes to perform. Patients are usually in the office for about an hour, however, when we figure in the time needed for topical numbing cream.

This procedure is certainly no replacement for surgery. It cannot reduce the size of a nose, but most of my Asian clientele don’t need reduction. They want to preserve the ethnic appearance of their nose, but are looking for more symmetry in their facial features. Some have said that they would like to have their glasses resting on their nasal bridge as opposed to their cheeks.

As with any medical procedure, selecting the right physician to perform the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure is critical. Injecting filler into the nose must be done with care and a thorough understanding of both, job, nasal anatomy and the properties of the filler being used. A patient contemplating this procedure should make sure his or her physician has had specific training and experience in cosmetic injection techniques, especially if the doctor is not a formally trained aesthetic surgeon. Precise knowledge about the injection spots, depth, and amount of filler needed is very important for the success of the procedure.

Changing one’s appearance is becoming more accepted as the procedures are becoming cheaper, safer, job, and easier. Media coverage of plastic surgery is also making the people who get these procedures seem less stigmatized and more mainstream. The patient must still exercise extreme care in choosing the right practitioner, but it is heartening to see innovative procedures emerge from new technology. For my Asian clientele, Non Surgical Rhinoplasty represents an alternative to surgery that is safer, easier, cheaper and sometimes more effective. It is a natural looking way to achieve the desired changes without “whitewashing” the client’s ethnic appearance.

As our society change into more and more diverse, cosmetic medicine is moving away from the fits all

As our society change into more and more diverse, cosmetic medicine is moving away from the fits all thought process of the past. Remedy today are more than ever becoming customizedto the particular needs of different ethnic groups. Los Angeles has a large Asian population and responding to their particular concerns has become important to many cosmetic doctors offices here. One of the biggest reasons that Asians come in, is because they are not happy with their nose. The patients want to have a higher, better-defined bridge, but not enough to endure surgery. Some just do not have the free time to go through the healing process, some are afraid of the involved, some can’t afford the cost, and some are scared of ending up with unnatural results.

Of course, there is wide variation among the different peoples of Asia and among different ethnicities. It is the job of the cosmetic expert to understand the final look that the patient is looking for and to realistic expectations based on science. The patient then decides what should be done and the physician delivers the procedure with maximal precision and minimal risk.

The main stream psyche is that an operation is the only way to correct cosmetic nasal abnormalities, even the most minor bumps or asymmetries. Over the last 5 years, that idea has been shown to be no longer true. This treatment has been called the Non Surgical Nose Job or Non Surgical Rhinoplasty.

Non-surgical aesthetic improvement of the nose only became possible recently as new fillers became approved by the Federal Government. Over the last five years, as injectable fillers have been used as an effective alternative to rhinoplasty, the Non-Surgical Nose Job has demonstrated itself to be a treatment that is safe and effective with significantly less painand risk than traditional nose surgery.

Non Surgical Rhinoplasty Procedure

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is a relatively pain-free procedure that requires hardly any downtime and post-procedure attention. Many patients resume normal functioningimmediately after their injections, returning to work or a busy social schedule on the same day as the appointment. If discoloration or tenderness does occur, it usually disappears within a few days. The treatment is usually performed in a couple of sessions so that the changes are gradual.

Topical anesthesia is sufficient for pain control, and icing the nasal area just before injection reduces the chances of bruising. Patients should take Arnica Montana by mouth after their injection – it works well for reducing any swelling or bruising that may follow. Patients can use Tylenol, but should not use NSAID’s (Advil, Alleve, etc) for 3 days or wear shaded glasses for 2 weeks after the procedure. No other limitations are required. The Non-Surgical Nose Job usually takes between ten to fifteen minutes to complete. Patients are usually in the practice for about an hour, however, when we figure in the time needed for topical numbing cream.

This game plan is certainly no definitive replacement for surgery. Some have said that they would like to have their reading glasses resting on their nasal bridge as opposed to their cheeks.

As with any medical , selecting the most qualifiedperson to perform the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure is critical. Injecting filler into the nose must be done with care and a significantunderstanding of both nasal anatomy and the properties of the filler being used. A personcontemplating this treatmentshould make sure his or her physician has had detailed training and experience in cosmetic injection methods, especially if the doctor is not a formally educatedaesthetic surgeon. Precise knowledge about the injection spots, depth, and volumeof filler necessary is very important for the success of the procedure.

Press coverage of cosmetic surgeryis also making the patients who get these procedures seem less stigmatized and more mainstream. The person must still practice extreme caution in choosing the right physician, but it is nice to see innovative procedures show up from new technology. It is a natural appearingway to achieve the desired changes without “whitewashing” the client’s ethnic appearance.

Don’t say I am jealous because I say your lovely Gossip Girl Blake Lively is ugly and fake. It is annoying always to hear people talking about how drop dead gorgeous and wonderful she is. No. She is not. She is not even close to average. Here is a blow-your-mind picture of her as proof.

ugly face of Blake

I don’t know what happened in this picture. Was she seeing a ghost or what, probably she was looking at herself in the mirror. Her white eye balls and teeth freaked me out, which reminded me of Thriller. It is such a Thriller moment.

Thriller moment

She is not only just ugly but fake. She has fake nose and boobs, that means she was uglier before.

Blake Lively was just a goofy teenage once with terrible fashion sense. The picture below features her wearing an outfit of ripped denim Capri pants, a turquoise tank, and a sparkly pink baby shirt paired with pink stilettos.

P.S. Oder bekam man sowas von der Syphilis? Falls ja – wie überlebte Velázquez soviel Ehrlichkeit?

I just had to post a link to a controversial fashion shot by Ralph Lauren. The size 4 model, being too fat, was photoshopped. Maybe a touch too heavy on the improving, since she appears to have no pelvis.

Maybe pelvic bones are unfeminine, like unbound feet or natural breasts. The female body, stained with original sin, is never good enough. And watch out, guys, you are a huge untapped market for drugs, cosmetics and surgery. You might have to fight for your wrinkles and thinning hair, if you want to keep the right to show them in public.

There’s a discussion on a nursing forum about shaving places where you would think a sane person wouldn’t want a razor, but I may be a minority view on that.

And where’s the profit in people liking themselves? Think of all the trouble they might get into if they weren’t so busy improving.

I’d have thought Penelope Cruz was as close to perfection as a human could get, but her nose needed some work, apparently.
