We were talking about mixed drinks. Normally, I don’t like to drink frou-frou/ sweet drinks but this one floated up in memory. Old buddy thePatentAttorney used to mix these up for TeenMT back when I was in high school. I think he called them something else. I called it anti-freeze due to the brilliant green shade and sweet flavor.

Supposed to be at 25,005 today and yes, maths fans! That is just over half-way to goal!

I’m at 21,105. This is so doable today. I can totally catch up. Sadly, my brains are going “meweahhlllavvvawot?”

Another cool thing I’m noticing is that I’ve lost any capability to type on my phone. I think it’s the lack of brain functioning but I could be wrong.

Watched The Producers last night. Had only caught it in pieces before, so now I’ve seen it through. I love Mel Brooks and I love all the people in it. I love the colors, the dancing, etc. I don’t think that I was in the mood to watch it, though…I’m just not myself after this nasty flu.

Around our farm, there are shots going off now and then: deer season!

Mmmm. Venison. I’m shocked that so many people where I work only have summer sausage made and chuck the rest.

WOT? My favorite way to eat venison…oh, wait. Okay, one of my faves is roast. Mmmmmmm! The next and/ or equal way is fillets, dredged in flour and pan-fried with milk gravy and biscuits on the side. For firsts, I eat it with a fork and knife and for seconds, I make mini sandwiches. Num!!!

Then, we hand-grind fresh meat (still warm, yo!) with pork sausage (adds fat to hold it together) and Pa Kettle’s “recipe” of spices (paprika, ground mustard seeds, 11 1/2 tons of sage, pepper, etc.). I’m kind of drooling thinking about it.

Where was I? Oh, and I like summer sausage, too. Come on, who doesn’t? Even vegetarians look at the platter come Christmas and moan, “Ohhhhhh. I love that. Maybe one piece?”

Right!

Oh, anyhoozles. So, my story this year is doing what often happens -ahem, this is always what happens when you’ve not outlined yet sometimes it happens even with outlining, so what’s the diff? and is trailing off in a different way than planned. Well, than it was loosely planned.

All the elements “planned” are still at play but it’s more about the flocks of people on the planet than the confrontational issues between humans and Catawbians. What I mean to say is all of a sudden, these other SPECIES keep coming out. It’s never frigging ending. You know how I love to digress? Well, there you go.

I’m still cracking myself up with the names for indigenous people, too. It started off as a bit of homage to Vulcans but now it’s getting out of hand. I think I’m going to have to write a dictionary.

Me, who never learnt Klingon?-I know that I started with Vulcan-like names and now I’m mixing ST metaphors, piss off

Oh, and bear with “Catawbians.” I mentioned on an earlier post that I just NEEDED some name and I was thinking how crows “caw” and CaTAWba (one of the kinds of grape we raised when I was a kid) came to mind. I always preferred them over Concords, so there. I used it and now it sounds more normal. By that I mean their names and all of that sounds valid in my brain, like they’ve always been there. I’ve had a few weird things happen when writing in “the zone” before and this appears to be one of them. Reality slips away when I’m that deep in my imagination, apparently, and imagination works its way into daily life.

What was that movie where the kids were travelling in time and they got worse and worse handwriting? Shite! That’s happening to me and the phone! Okay, I’ll sign off now because I know none of this makes sense.

My mom was on the road with another parent…well, person from church and the pastor. They were going to the cemetery of a recently deceased cancer patient who had gone to our church, and it was a long drive. So, in this hour and a half long drive, they had to think of things to talk about.

So my mom told me they talked about hair loss. Apparently, olive oil, cinnamon, and…uh…something else is supposed to help prevent that, but I thought it was something edible.. haha. Then I guess they were bored, so they started talking about their children, and my mom talked about me.

Me: Why didn’t you talk about Kaikai? He’s more interesting anyways.

Mom: You’re closer in age to her children, so yeeeaaah.

Me: (pouts)

Anyways, that’s not really the point. The point is that my mom told the other mom that I thought her son was cute.

Me: mamaaaa, you don’t tell people stuff like that.

Mom: But we had nothing else to talk about!

Me: (pouts. again, yes.)

And then she says the mom was really happy.

Me: 0.0||

Yeah, that was funny.

Back on Vox, at some point there was a post I did on a half-beer and half tomato juice. A friend drinks them.

We were talking about beer in theartdept and someone said their SIL drinks that. I said, “Oh, Red-Eyes?” Nobody knew the term.

Oh, and this, too

Then, Big John (he’s a long drink of an Eastender who has been in the States for quite some time) chimed in, “My mum used to drink those. They’re called Shandies.”

Well, I googled and apparently half-beer + half-virtually anything is a shandy but there you go.

More crap I didn’t know and probably won’t need to know in this case as when in the UK or Ireland I drink just like at home: milky tea, whiskey, hard cider or if I must, a bitter.-in that order

And I love the interior decorating.

Trying real hard to like veggies more. And not just “like” veggies-Actually “eat” veggies. Same goes for water. The smartest, the coolest, and most popular people I know are enthusiasts. They say they drink it all the time. And they don’t have a sweet tooth, and they get relaxed after a light five mile jog, and they have a training plan I could totally use to prep for Novembers’ half marathon. Anyone can run a half marathon, they say. And they love kale. Not too sure about kale, but I’ll try anything twice. Why shouldn’t the principle that got me into this unhealthy rut also get me out of it?

All day long, a male coworker has made comments about the belt I’m wearing.

“What do you call that?”

“What’s a tie-belt?”

“What’s it for?”

“What’s it made of?”

“What are those things on it?”

“Is that some kind of dominatrix thing?”

Finally, he came up to me these scant moments before I leave for the day and weekend:

“I want that belt!”

I untied it, pulled it from around my waist and handed it over.

“You want this belt? I’ll give you this belt!”

He promptly tied it around his head and is still wearing it.

Leaving Costco last night, I was pushing a Genuine Lois-Load* of stuff. -that would be my grandmothe

Leaving Costco last night, I was pushing a Genuine Lois-Load* of stuff.

-that would be my grandmother Lois, who largely raised me, not my Irish Granny who cocked up her toes before I was born

As often stated, I’m the Biggest Girl on my mother’s side of the family at 5′2″. While that means I’m tall for them, I’m not so tall in the US.

-in Brittany, France I stood a full head above most middle-aged men. Never before (or since) had I been to a place where I was the one who helped people get things down from top shelves in shops!

An older gentleman (almost Pa Kettle’s age) was walking down the same aisle of the car park ahead of me. He glanced back a couple of times. Maybe he thought I was going to mug him.

More likely, he thought I was a run-away cart. As I said, it was an over-flowing COSTCO cart and so heavy that I grunted trying starting, turning or stopping it.

The third time he looked back, we were almost to my car, which happened to be parked right next to his SUV.

I said:

“Don’t mind me. I’m not following you, I’m just following you.”

He let me pass.

“You look like you want some help loading your car.”

“I won’t mind it a bit, thank you, sir.”

Mr. Helpful started unpacking and I could hardly keep up with what he handed me to chuck in the car (back or back seat of the Mazda Sportwagon) — including the pallet of Tampax Tampons! We traded niceties.

When he turned to return my cart, I thanked him again, telling him he had probably worked harder than he had expected when offering.

“Bah! I’ve done my Good Deed for the Day. Now, I can be an asshole.”

I smiled.

“The day’s almost gone. You’d better get cracking.”

That tickled him and he walked on to help another lady with her cart.

*”Lois-Load”: my grandmother was known for “stocking up.” I remember one rainy day when we had to get help to push 5 carts out of Venture.

A woman and man were on the set; the woman was a good 18″ taller than the man (okay, maybe 16″). This was impossible not to notice.

Seeing that I’m the Giantess of the family at 5′2″, my mother being moderately “tall” for her side of the family at 4′10″, we have immunity when it comes to commenting on others’ losses of elevation.

The Duchess: He’s not big enough to pick up that television set.

MT: Wha? Of course he is. Dwarves work in mines all day, hauling out large rocks in wheelbarrows and chopping down trees. They’re strong!
