Welcome to We’re Gonna Make It, a podcast about people who make things, and the creative motivation that keeps them neck deep in their art when they should probably be off making money building bridges or welding pipelines.

It’s a podcast about how people produce their work, what their tricks, habits, drives, influences, fears, motivations, depressive stimuli, and favorite snacks are.

Each episode, the two hosts (Moss and Taylor) will also prostrate themselves in a feeble attempt to replicate the artwork of their guests. Expect contests in songwriting, painting, cooking, metalwork, and feng shui.

The first episode of We’re Gonna Make It will be released on February 1st. But for now, feel free to listen to a sample by one of the guests we’ll be interviewing, Victoria musician Colin “OLAV” Liseth.

Does the name Bane ring a bell? No, but Pavlov does! (I’m sorry… I’ve been studying psych for an eternity…)

But I’m sure the magnificent Magnus Bane does sound familiar. The amazingly sexy, High Warlock of Brooklyn, is getting his own mini series. Yup, you heard right. Starting February 2013, each month until the City of Bones movie, a short story will be released online in an e-book format, and these short stories will later be compiled into The Bane Chronicles to be released as a hard copy book in 2014! There will be a total of 10 short stories~

This project will be done by Cassandra Clare (of course (author of The Mortal Instruments Series, and The Infernal Devices Trilogy)), Sarah Rees Brennan (author of The Demon’s Lexicon Series), and Maureen Johnson (author of the Shades of London series, and 13 Little Blue Envelopes). Each story will be created between either Clare and Brennan, Clare and Johnson, or by Clare alone (because who speaks Magnus better than Magnus? The author who created him in the first place, of course!).

Brennan hinted as to what to expect from The Bane Chronicles :

Have you ever wondered about Magnus’s past loves and lies? Magnus and Alec’s first date? How Magnus and Camille got together? What happened in Peru? Starting in February 2013, in the run-up to City of Handsome Magnus: the Movie (Also Starring Some Other People Who Are Pretty Good-Looking) we will put out a Magnus Short Story every month.

PERU! FIRST DATE! CAMILLE! Yeah, I’m pretty darn excited ! It’s going to be 7 months of MAGNUS~

And just ’cause I need a picture…

Magnus Banes (Godfrey Gao) and Chairman Meow (Cat).

If you have no clue as to why I just posted this sexy Asian guy and named him Magnus, you may want to check out two things:

1. The Mortal Instruments Movie Cast

2. The First Trailer for the Movie (which may or may not pop up when you click on the web link above… if not, the header says TRAILER… click on that and get ready for one badass trailer)

So just to reiterate: 10 short stories about Magnus Bane will be released starting in February 2013 until August 2013 ! I am seriously excited ~!! MAGNUS!

And just ’cause I can, I present you one of my favourite Magnus quotes~

He shimmered with layers of glitter. His gaze rested for a moment on Alec’s face with amusement and a hint of something else before moving on to Jace, prone on the ground.
“Is he dead?” he inquired. “He looks dead.”
“No,” snapped Maryse. “He’s not dead.”
“Have you checked? I could kick him if you want.” Magnus moved toward Jace.
-City of Ashes

Hehe… CAN’T WAIT !

Richelle Mead’s birthday is today ! And in celebration, she has given us two things to drool over for the next few months until The Indigo Spell comes out… ready…?

Bloodlines #4 has a name: The Fiery Heart !

AND the POVs will be alternating between Sydney AND Adrian !

You do not know how insanely excited I was to read all the little novellas that authors have made for various series so I want to share some of them with you~

I believe I mentioned them before (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), but Julie Kagawa made Winter’s Passage and Summer’s Crossing Novellas to supplement the Iron Fey Series.

Summer’s Crossing (Free until June 29, 2012) (Puck’s POV): http://www.theironfey.com/pdfs/SummersCrossing-enovella.pdf

Winter’s Passage WAS free, but is now being sold by Amazon (Ash’s POV):
http://www.theironfey.com/WintersPassage.html

Ash’s and Meaghan’s Valentine’s Day Date (;
http://www.theironfey.com/pdfs/AnIronFeyValentine.pdf

Ash also wrote a letter to Meaghan, but I don’t have any links handy at the moment, haha.

Kelley Armstrong wrote a small novella trilogy for the Darkest Powers Trilogy:
Dangerous (#0.5)(Derek’s POV): Kit’s disappearance and how the boys got to Lyle House
Divided (#1.5)(Derek’s POV): What happened while Chloe and Rae disappeared (Between The Summoning and The Awakening)
Disenchanted (#3.5 ish)(Tori’s POV): What happened with her and Simon when Derek and Chloe were stuck at the truck stop (until they met up again)
These three novellas were put together in a Darkest Powers Bonus set that is now for sale (No links, sorry)

Belonging (#3.5) (Derek’s POV): Taken three months after the Reckoning (we get to catch up a little with the characters~)

* UNFORTUNATELY, Kelley removed Belonging from her blog. She will have the short story published and for sale soon!

Yesterday, I had the chance to see Kelley Armstrong in person! She was doing a signing in Toronto at Yorkdale Mall and guess what? They were selling her new book “The Calling”, which is set to come out in all stores on Tuesday.
I’ve already finished the novel and I absolutely loved it! This one definitely was less centered on romance (not that I don’t love Rafe and Maya (I LOVE THEM) but there was just… less) Here, I’ll tell you why… [Note: this is on the back of the cover so don't kill me for typing it!]

A crack and a rush of air. Nicole shrieked. This time, Hayley joined her.
“The door!” Corey said. “The door’s open!”
“Hang on!” Daniel yelled at him. “Maya, grab Kenjii!”
I lunged for the dog’s collar, and just then I heard a gasp. Everyone was yelling and wind rushed through the half-open door and I shouldn’t have heard anything. But I heard that gasp.
“Rafe!” I screamed.
I shouted at Nicole to grab him. But as I turned, I saw a blur of motion. Rafe, sailing across the floor of the helicopter.
Out the open door.

Dun, dun, dun! Again, don’t hate me for typing that out for you guys, haha. It’s in the first chapter anyways. Still, my gosh, after that I just couldn’t stop reading. The book is still exciting, filled with action and guns (granted they tend to hold tranq darts, but that’s besides the point). Ugh, loved, loved, loved the book, but the ending will leave you pining for more, even though The Rising (the last book to the trilogy) won’t be out until next year. /dead.

Anyways, I’ll post my review on Tuesday! (When I have a better computer at hand. You do not know how weird this site looks on my comp (everything’s basically in HTML and funny links))

I’ll also be posting some pictures of the ‘swag’ I got (I hate that word… swag…)

Anywho~ Have fun reading (:

Wow, I’m on a posting ROLL!

Okay. Other than a slight haircut, the girls look exactly the same. I don’t know if they actually got another girl to model, or they just took the cover of Falled, enlarged the picture, fiddled with photoshop and spat that one out, but COME ON. Fallen is pretty big too, so it’s not like one can just say “Oh, I didn’t know?”

Another person pointed out that Battista’s girl is oddly shaped (i.e. she has a lump or something on her back that doesn’t look natural…) It just makes the girl look really… thin after that part… I don’t know.. it’s just weird. According to one source, Fallen was the inspiration for Battista’s cover, but really? Inspiration doesn’t have to mean copy. They could have had the girl in a different pose at least, or it could be like Noel and Chen-Headley’s novels where they at least had the decency to FLIP the girl’s picture so they don’t look EXACTLY alike…

Just a thought.

Last year, author Richelle Mead graduated from her popular Vampire Academy books and released Bloodlines, the first volume in a new six-part spin-off series. We got our hands on the first chapter of The Golden Lily (out June 12) and spoke to Mead about Sydney’s future in the series — and why fans might be throwing the new book across the room (in delight?) when they finish reading it.

Read more… 550 more words

An article on The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead. At the end of the article, you’ll find the first chapter of the sequel to Bloodlines~

I already love it, and I’ve read like 17 pages of it, haha. I absolutely can’t wait for this book! And they moved up the date so now it’s out on my birthday (June 12, 2012)! /pleased.

Anyways, enjoy the fantastic excerpt~

the one thing I hate most about books is the end. Whether they make me smile, cry, laugh, angry, or annoyed, a part of my heart always breaks. I’m just re-reading the end of The Iron Knight, since I just did a review on it, and I still feel that sadness grow inside me signalling that it was, in fact, the end of that series. -Sigh- I’m such an oxymoron. I’m saddened by the end of a series, and yet here I am wishing that time would go faster so I can read the last Infernal Device novel or the final Shift novel… Anyone else in the world feel like/do this?
