The 2009 National Rural ITS Conference, held August 23-27 in Seaside, Oregon, has concluded.  Nearly 300 attendees enjoyed a wide variety of sessions, professional tours, activities, and the opportunity to visit over 35 vendor displays.

The Call for Abstracts for the National Rural ITS Conference has been released.  The theme of the conference is advancing rural ITS to the next level. Submit your abstract for presentation at the conference this summer in Seaside, OR.  The conference is scheduled for August 23-27, 2009.  To submit an abstract for presentation, go to: http://www.nritsconference.org/2009program.html.

Authors can also email abstracts to info@nritsconference.org. Emails must include all of the following:

• Abstract title,
• Lead author contact information (name, organization, address, phone & fax numbers, and email),
• Supporting author(s) name(s) and email addresses (if any),
• Topic area, and
• Abstract text (500 word maximum).
• Abstracts are due Monday, February 16, 2009

The NRITS Planning Committee invites you to submit an abstract for presentation at the conference. The abstract submission deadline is February 16, 2009. Download the call for abstracts from the NRITS website.

The conference has plenty of nearby, family fun activities including aquariums, shopping, a boardwalk along the beach, kite flying, and amusement rides – not to mention the publicly owned beaches and beautiful Pacific Ocean. Join us Sunday, August 23rd for golfing at Gearhart Golf Links–one of the oldest courses on the West Coast–and a bonfire on the beach.

ITS Oregon will be hosting the 2009 National Rural ITS Conference in Seaside, Oregon from August 23 to 27, 2009. In order to make this a great conference, we are soliciting conference planning committee members. Activities currently being planned include:

• Sunday bonfire welcoming reception
• Monday and/or Tuesday evening social events
• Identification of session topics and session speakers
• Finding a keynote speaker
• Technical tours

We will be holding monthly conference call meetings of the planning committee to keep all committee members up to date on the status of the activity planning. There may be an occasional in-person meeting to work out details.
