The location is a circuit in Japan. The car; Honda’s buzzed about NSX, the specs: a 3.4L V8. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way. In this video we see the Japanese automaker testing it out it’s race version of the NSX titled the HSV-010 GT on the track. As you can see it’s got hints of what a possible future road version NSX would look like, we’ll just have to see if the road version will sound like a bare bones race car.

In case you’re wondering, there is no word quite yet on a road NSX anytime in the near future but we’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for you.

Here’s some photos from a local meet we had here in Sacramento. It was held at the local Lollicup here in Roseville. One of the last meets of the year, there wasn’t as big as a crowd as last year, but def. a good time to hang out. The weather was better than anticipated, the sun even came out for a bit! Check it out!

Honda first started production in 1990, it was far ahead of it’s time. With an all aluminum body and a high revving V-6 engine the car developed only 280hp which was in line with the Japanese mandates of that time, however it only made 210 lb/ft of torque. The engine was mounted FR which provided race car like balance. On tracks it is able to keep up with cars that have much more horsepower. Check out these videos.

The Honda NSX, or Acura NSX in North America, was a sports car produced between 1990 and 2005 by the Japanese automaker Honda. It sports a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and was powered by an all-aluminum V6 gasoline engine featuring Honda’s “variable valve timing and lift electronic control” (VTEC) system.

Introduced in 1990, the NSX showcased Honda’s technology. The Japanese car maker’s race track innovations and competitive history were further exemplified on the road by the NSX’s light and rigid all aluminum monocoque chassis, all aluminum front and rear double wishbone suspension with forged control arms connected to forged alloy wheels boasting the world’s first production car engine with titanium connecting rods, forged pistons and ultra high-revving capabilities – the redline was at a lofty 8,000 rpm. Other details included its unique 23-step paint process, including an aircraft type chromate coating designed for chemically protecting the aluminum bodywork and a waterborne paint for the base coat to achieve a clearer, more vivid top color and a smoother surface finish.

The car’s strong chassis rigidity and cornering/handling capabilities were the results of Ayrton Senna’s direct input with NSX’s chief engineers while testing the NSX prototype car at Honda’s Suzuka Circuit during its final development stages. The NSX was initially assembled at the purpose-built Takanezawa R&D Plant in Tochigi from 1989 to early 2004, when it was moved to Suzuka Plant for the remainder of its production life. The cars were assembled by approximately 200 of Honda’s best and most experienced personnel, a team of hand-picked staff employed from various other Honda facilities to run the NSX operation. After studying their main competitors such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche, Honda engineers designed the NSX in search of the perfect balance between usable power and reliability and thus produced a powerful naturally aspirated VTEC engine suitable for the extreme demands of both road and track.

You’ve heard of diamond-encrusted televisions. You’ve heard of gold-plated refrigerators. You’ve heard of bathtubs dipped in platinum. Are any of these things better because of their blinged-out status? No.

A gold-plated refrigerator is still a refrigerator. If I gold-plated my excrement, it would still be excrement.

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of the matter, it’s just flat-out tasteless.

This is what plagues the Lexus LFA.

It’s a great machine. It can lap the Nürburgring in 7:24. It’s got a great-sounding V10 engine. It’s dynamic, and it’s the automotive equivalent of gold-plated excrement.

I have come to this conclusion via the power of complex mathematical reasoning. If I were born yesterday, I’d be able to guesstimate the LFA’s price at $168,000 just by looking at it. If you told me how it performed, I’d add $25,000 to the total. If I were to hear the sound of the engine – which may be the best sound of any road car today - I’d start feeling generous and I’d add $30,000 to the expected price.

So where does that leave us? $223,000
Lexus LFA MSRP: $380,000
Discrepancy between perceived price and actual MSRP: $157,000

So where did all those Benjamins go? They went into the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer body which saves about 200 lbs. versus an all-aluminum car.

So tell me, are you willing to pay $157,000 to lose 200 lbs? I’m not and I’m certain NBC’s Biggest Loser isn’t either. So while the Lexus LFA is a great car, it’s a great car wrapped in carbon fiber, or the automotive equivalent of gold plating, and for an extra $157,000 … well, if i carry the seven and cross-cancel – yep, that makes the car crap – crap wrapped in “gold”.

I know, everybody wants to be like Audi. Put a halo car in the showrooms to get people to walk in, and they walk out with an A4. Same thing with the Ford GT. Same thing with the Acura NSX. Same thing with the Dodge Viper. All those cars changed their entire car companies and the way people perceived them.

But now the halo car business is becoming too much of a “me too” business; as a result, I think this car will hurt Lexus’s image. The Lexus LFA is a halo car done wrong. Halo cars have to present something new and/or unique to the marketplace. The Acura NSX was the best example – it was the first supercar that was easy to drive. The Dodge Viper – the automotive equivalent of a red thong flossing a tan butt on a summer day north of 100°F. Audi R8 - a true supercar you could drive every day and almost afford. LFA: just another fast car.

You see, halo cars don’t necessarily have to beat all their rivals, but they have to be compelling. I’m sorry, but among Ferrari 599 GTB Fioranos and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs … even the much cheaper Nissan GT-Rs, the Lexus LFA is leaving this reviewer cold.

The name LFA originates from “Lexus Future Advance”. It’s a shame because in many ways, this car is retarding Lexus’s future.

They should have made a successor to the Supra (the name alone sounds better than “LFA”) that would have been less expensive than the Nissan GT-R, but better-performing. What they’ve given us is an overpriced Supra with a Lexus badge and radiators in the back. Stinky.

Out of all the years of my life being into cars, I have come to realize the Acura NSX is one of my TOP 10 favorite PICKED cars of all time.

I always had a thing for the JGTC Acura NSX and dreamed of owning or building one for myself someday.

I recently came across this when I was at my boy Allen aka TAK’s house chillin…

He asked me if I wanted to see the SYKEST NSX of allllll TIME!!

Being how stubborn I was, I told him that I have seen them all or already have them saved in my Acura NSX folder at home…

Honda’s betrouwbaarheid: je moet er minstens eentje hebben gereden om te begrijpen waarover het echt gaat. Wat dacht je van deze Acura NSX met iets meer dan 409.000 mijl op de klok, oftewel 658.000 km… !?

Het feit dat deze NSX nog altijd een marktprijs van om en bij de 15.000 dollar heeft, zegt genoeg zeker? Trouwens een NSX in vergelijkbare staat met ongeveer een tiende (!) van de kilometers gaat in vergelijking amper 27.000 dollar… .

Honda Wuyts in Hechtel verzamelde de afgelopen jaren allerlei artikels die Honda’s betrouwbaarheid onderstrepen. Zorg dat je goed zit en neem gerust iets om te drinken: Honda’s Betrouwbaarheid.

Ce week-end, était présenté la dernière Round de l’année en SuperGT, et ainsi la dernière fois qu’on voyait la NSX-GT après 16 ans de compétition dans cette série monstre du Japon. Dans cette course au Twin Ring Motegi, la Team ARTA NSX, a remporter la première place ainsi que la Team KEIHIN NSX, en 3ième place. Honda avec sa NSX ne pouvait quitté le SuperGT sur une meilleur note en remportant les grands honneurs pour sa dernière course. C’est une très belle page d’histoire qui vient de se terminer pour Honda d’autant plus que c’est une très grande victoire sur leur territoire. Si je ne me trompe pas, Twin Ring Motegi est propriété de Honda.
