Deviant Art user Whatapayne is awesome. You want proof? Look at the above pic. This guy has made multiple printable versions of ALL of the Nuka Cola bottles from Fallout 2 & 3. Just peel off the original labels, print the Fallout ones and glue them up. Best part of the whole deal? You can do this in about 10 minutes for the price of a delicious Coke (preferably glass bottle). Win effing win.

I’ve just decided what I’m going to attempt to replicate when I achieve the required time and skills to do so. Essentially I’m going to follow in this wise man’s footsteps and make a working Nuka Cola Machine. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any information on how he did it and where he began. Just pictures of him chilling with the machine and a bottle of Nuka Cola Quantum. Which I did manage to snag a quick look at how to make. The Nuka Cola Quantum, that is.

It really is quite beautiful. Well, as beautiful as a wasteland dispenser of nuclear beverages can be. Which is damn sexy.

Basically all I got out of this finding is now a deep urge to go and play Fallout 3. Which I do not need. I played enough of that while I was away on a supposed vacation. All I have to say is: Fallout is a bitch when you have absolutely no weapons or caps. Trust me, it blows. I guess I got bored and blew all of my caps the previous time playing on that file because as it turns out I only had 14 caps to my name. All of my weapons were severely damaged, which I couldn’t afford to repair, and I had no ammo. Thank god for baseball bats.

It’s not all bad, though. My tablet arrived yesterday (pardon my excuse for not posting). So far I’m loving it but I’m not very good yet. I’ve never used a tablet prior to this so there are some difficulties. Other than that I’m having tons of fun randomly using my tablet pen to browse Facebook. Really helps me become more coordinated with it. I’ll be sure to let everyone in on the first pieces that come out of my random doodles and what not. Finished my nimbus cloud for the shirt which is actually finished. Now I just have to wait to see if development will accept it. ._. Nervous.

If anyone knows how to make a Nuka Cola Machine or even just where to begin, tell me. I’m listening. Because… I’m always listening of course. And I’ll be your best friend. And I’ll make you mac and cheese… And Tetris shaped poptarts curtesy of www.snackordie.com. It’s a lovely site. Lots of delicious things. I will put my hand at every one of those just for a chance to possess a Nuka Cola Machine. X3 Then I can kick it and be like, “Stupid machine! You give me rads!”

I love video game merchandise. I think there is always room for more stuff in my cluttered room, and the more creative toys are much cooler. So here are some games I think have room for improvement in the merchandising department.

Nuka Cola (Fallout)

Tons of possibilities here, from a Nuka Cola mascot (like the polar bears- maybe a zombie bear?), Nuka Cola plushies, t-shirts, posters, and actual Nuka Cola products, like those 1-Up and T-Virus Antidote energy drinks. And don’t forget Nuka Cola Quantum (kinda reminds me of Slurm).

Murlocs (World of Warcraft)

Seriously Blizzard, make some Murloc Suits IRL. They’re in demand in game, so Blizzard should just sell them at conventions. I would buy one. Or a Murloc plushie. Hey, they’ve got Cthulhu plushies, and I think a Murloc plush would look good next to my Christmasthulhu.

Piñatas (Viva Piñata)

My friends and I heard Burger King had Pokemon toys, and we went to go get some, so I went up to the counter to ask what kind of toys they had, peeked inside and saw a plastic Fizzlybear and walked right back to the table. My friend and I routinely sing the theme song from the game, so we were super excited. They also came with a few tiny cardboard stand-up characters inside. This is one example of good merchandising, not so good PR work- more people should have heard about this! So that wraps up my contribution to the video game toy market. Please steal these ideas, game companies!

I received a couple emails asking me how I completed the Nuka-Cola challenge achievement in Fallout 3. The Nuka-Cola Challenge is a side quest in Fallout 3 that requires collecting 30 Nuka-Cola Quantum drinks and delivering them to one of two characters living in Girdershade. When you locate Girdershade, underneath the raised highway on the east side of the map, you will meet Sierra Petrovita. She lives in a small shack with a neon Nuka-Cola sign hanging near the door. Sierra will ask if you would like to take the Nuka-Cola tour, which consists of walking through her tiny shack home and looking at all the Nuka-Cola branded items she has collected in the wastes. The only way to open up the side quest is to take the tour and listen to her talk about the various junk she has collected. On the bright side, when the tour is complete, she will offer you an ice-cold Nuka-Cola. Then Sierra will ask you to help her collect Nuka-Cola Quantums so she can fill her vending machine. She will pay you 40 caps for each one you bring her and when you hit 30, she will give you the schematics to build a Nuka-Grenade, and the achievement will be unlocked.

Sierra Petrovita

When you leave, a man named Ronald Laren will stop you and ask you to give him the Nuka-Cola Quantums instead. Long story short, he wants to get into Sierras pants. His logic behind this charade is that if she thinks he collected the bottles, she will finally acknowledge his advances. He offers to pay you the same price, but if you score a successful speech attempt you can get him to double the price. I didn’t find this quest until I had already used a bunch of this glowing syrup for myself. I only made notes as to the places I located Nuka-Cola Quantums after I was trying to collect thirty of the bottles to check this mission off my list. I found a lot of these scattered throughout the wastelands, so if you already found some of these places, a little exploring should help fill in any gaps in your inventory. All the locations I did manage to keep notes on had more than one bottle so hopefully this will speed up the quest completion time. Take the Nuka-Cola Challenge and earn those 20 extra gamerpoints! Happy hunting.

Smith Casey’s Garage : North of Jacko’s Pop & Gas Stop, 2 bottles inside.

Old Olney : Leave Old Olney and head southeast towards the cliff and the rubble from the destroyed highway. In the distance you will see a Red Rocket gas station and a broken down semi truck. Inside the trailer you will find 7 Nuka-Cola Quantums and 23 Nuka-Colas.

Paradise Falls : Head in to Eulogy Jones’ place. Move down the hallway and look along the side of the stairs and you will see a bunch of crates. Inside the crates there are 5 Nuka-Cola Quantums.

Dukov’s Place : There are 2 bottles here. One is sitting on a shelf behind his bed and the other is in the Nuka-Cola machine.

Nuka-Cola Plant : An obvious location to score a couple bottles, it still takes some exploration to come up with a few. I found 4 at the factory. The first bottle is behind the factory in a truck sitting in back of the plant. The other 3 are in the assembly line. To find these you have to activate the machines at a computer terminal located in the room next door.

VAPL-58 Power Station : 1 was inside the power station on the table. The other is in a shed by a billboard south of the power stations

Super Duper Mart : Kill all the raiders, and find the one that has the key to the Pharmacy if you are unable to pick the lock. In back, there is a room with a Protectron. There are bunch of boxes on the floor to the right of the door containing 3 Nuka-Cola Quantums.

Satcom Array NN-03d : 2 bottles can be retrieved in this area. There is tent to the south containing one bottle. To the west, there is a tin shack with another bottle on the roof.

Agatha’s House : Face north and head towards Minefield. Look for a power station tower. Just south of the tower there is a skeleton sitting on a chair. There is 1 bottle sitting next to the skeleton and 1 bottle on top of a beam above the skeleton. Shoot it down with the BB gun.

Evergreen Mills : There are 2 bottles in the marketplace behind the first bar inside a box.

Greetings, The Web. We have a lot of catching up to do.

As an icebreaker (and a transition from my other, cocktail-related blog), I’d like to share a little Fallout 3 companion I concocted a little while ago. It’s a Nuka-Cola! (I know they’re that familiar brown in-game, but I think my version really goes along with the overall color scheme quite nicely.)

Step 1: Drink off Rolling Rock bottled beer to just below the neck.

Step 2: Add cheap sweetened lime juice, preferably from big classy gallon-sized jug. Tip nozzle for as long as you imagine a bartender pours a shot.

Step 3: Play Fallout until bottle empties. Enjoy effects of slowly-accumulating ‘radiation’.

Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 until you’ve beaten the game, or suffered some kind of health crisis. (Honestly though, I got your back with that lime. You are scurvy-safe, my friend! Play on.)

It’s a pleasure. See you next time.

The lack of updates is a direct result of my getting knee deep into a game of “Fallout 3.

The lack of updates is a direct result of my getting knee deep into a game of “Fallout 3.”
I just finished beating the game today. Let me just say it was kind of a disappointment. The game is way too short and the ending is lame and anticlimactic.
The main storyline is pretty straightforward and unimaginitive. It pretty much goes exactly where you think it’s going to go, only it ends abruptly, like it feels as if you’re only about halfway through when suddenly its the end. It’s true that there are a million sidequests and places to explore, and one isn’t merely confined to the main quest, but this does not nullify the lacklusterness of the main quest itself. I frequently found myself thinking the story might go in some interesting directions, only to discover
that there were no real surprises.
For example: for a brief period I began to suspect that perhaps the father isn’t really a good guy, and that the whole “water purifier” thing was really a cover for a sinister machine that would unleash some terrible emperor(notice in the purifier there is a mysterious preserved body). Now that would have been interesting! But alas, it was just a water purifier…and boom you turn it on and then you die, game over. No epic boss battle, just a colonel and one other soldier, standard troops that take about 2 seconds to kill. Even on the climactic trip from the citadel to the purifier(which I didn’t realize was the climax until the game was over moments later) the big robot does all the work and takes out all the enemy soldiers for you.

In the entirety of the storyline, would you believe you only visit a total of 2 and 1/2 towns?

Don’t get me wrong, the premise of the game and actual gameplay are both awesome, but if you are going to play it, I would say just go out and explore the post apocalyptic wasteland and don’t bother with continuing the main quest beyond the point of vault 112(which was the highlight of the game for me.)
