After writing up my review for the new Borderlands DLC last night I decided to look around and see if I could find any other reviews. After searching around for a bit I could not find anything but about it’s release date and content. I am not sure whether I am simply the first to review the game, or if I did not look hard enough. Regardless I am rather proud of myself in regards to the fact that I got a review written and posted the same day that the new content was released. I will of course post another of my promised iPhone/iTouch reviews later today. I have not yet decided which game to review yet though, as I am going between a few games, but one will definitely be posted. So please stay tuned, and if anything check out some of my other reviews!

I found an interesting album today by Mr. Robert Kelly. I didnt even now he had one to come out.

The album will come out on December 1st, but you will get some tracks ahead . It features guests like Rock City, OJ Da Juiceman, Keri Hilson, Tyrese, Robin Thicke and The Dream, but there are only 4 feature tracks of 15.

I’m not trying to offend him, but has anybody acutally ever recognized that he has got the same look as Goerge W. Bush? Whatever,back to the album …

You find typical slowjams on it. It’s probably the first album where he uses Autotune – I wouldn’t have done that … I dont have to tell nobody that it’s overused ! Check it for yourself on the Intro, which I find pretty nice anyways:

What a brilliant idea: taking care of my health.  I felt so pro-active writing the times of my appointments on the calendar.  Two activities just for me; okay, so they weren’t exactly the best appointments to have – a physical and a follow-up for an ovarian cyst that stuck around my last pregnancy – but they were just for me, all the same.

As the appointments drew near, I started thinking about logistics.  Ug, logistics, you never escape them when you have children.

Usually, I travel with an entourage – my husband and two girls; either he has both or I have both or he has one and I have the other, depending on the activity.  However, when the activity involves doctor’s offices in cold and flu season, I begin to re-think the entourage option.

The first appointment went smoothly.  Granny stayed with Miss Q and my husband hung with Miss S.   He multi-tasked by taking her to Super Store for diapers, I multitasked by deaking across the road for a haircut, when my appointment ended 1/2 hour early.

The choice to sneak in a haircut wasn’t taken lightly.  Visions of my husband grring from the minivan, with a wailing baby in the back, when he returned and I wasn’t waiting, raced through my head.  But having an un-shaggy, non-mum-cut was worth the pangs of guilt.  And, it saved us a haircut outing later in the week.  In the end, it was a non-issue as he only waited 2-minutes with a sleeping baby.

The second appointment was a little more of a dance.  My husband had a course to go to and this left me without my Number One; in waltzed his pitch-hitter, my brother, Uncle M.

While Granny and Miss Q watched ‘Cars’, Uncle M earned his uncle stripes.  He wore Miss S in the Ergo (baby carrier) and all was well until Miss S started to cry.  When she’s tired, she likes to be walked up and down stairs.  So Uncle M hoofed up and down the stairwell.  (My appointment was on the third floor.)

Of course it was Murphy’s Law that the stairwell trick wouldn’t work, so he took her outside, to minimal success, but lots of opinion on the fact Miss S wasn’t wearing her hood.  Welcome to the world of judgment, Uncle M.

Finally, I rocked her to sleep, had my 15 minute appointment – that was 45 minutes late – and we went home to have lunch with Granny and Miss Q.

Could I have taken Miss Q and Miss S to the appointments without any help?  Of course.  It would have taken lots of prep, hand sanitizer and rocking, but it was doable.  However, sometimes it’s good to include the village.  My children were well taken care of, and I was able to concentrate on me, if only for an hour.

Louisville was founded in 1882 and the iconic buildings give the town a feel of downtowns of long ago.   Louisville’s economy is nouveau tech: Technology firms are the area’s mainstay (IBM, Sun Micro, Ball, Level 3, Amgen  and more).  Not to mention the upcoming alternative energy campus in the works.  Louisville is only 6 miles from Boulder and 22 from Denver. Outdoor living at its best.  Panoramic views of the front range Rocky Mountains abound.  Louisville’s 26-mile wooded biking and running path winds through much of the town. On summer Friday nights, residents head to the downtown Louisville Street Faire, for concerts, entertainment,  artisans, beer and food. Saturdays head to the farmers market or in July the summer film series.  A great place to live with excellent restaurants that have been here forever.  Solid deals, nice people, all American type of town.
Home prices are up recently because this is one of the greatest places in America to live.  Family friendly.  A cool place to thrive.  It can snow one day and be gone the following day.  As Garrison Keillor says “where all the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children are above average.”

Collegiate basketball started this weekend in Stillwater, as the OSU Cowboys took on Seattle U.

This was a much-anticipated game, because like an earlier post said the game was delayed almost two hours because of the refs not knowing when Tip off was and Seattle U getting hungry and going for food.

The Cowboys were number one in this game, and if they continue to play the way they did this game may be number one in the end. All I know is time will tell and hopefully Coach Ford leads us on to victory.

Go Cowboys, Keep up the good work.

 Experience most of the story of Battlestar Galactica all over again: humanity’s struggle for survival and the Cylon battle for existence, but this time from the Cylon point of view.

First off, if you’re not a fan of BSG, there really is absolutely no point in trying to watch this straight-to-DVD movie release. Without having watched the four amazing seasons of the remade Battlestar Galactica, that won numerous awards, a legion of die-hard fans and a huge amount of criticism, you won’t be able to enjoy this movie to it’s fullest. That being said, and as I am huge fan of BSG, on with the review!

 Yes, it’s from the Cylon point of view, sure. Dean Stockwell stars as Brother Cavil, also known as Number One. And while he certainly does an adequate job at trying to get his Cylon brethren to do their fraking job already and kill a bunch of pivotal humans, I just can’t get around remembering him as Al in Quantum Leap. Certainly both Sci-fi series, but they’re very very different from eachother. We have a pair of Sixes running around, the one that seduces Gaius and the one that, well, is generally a whore who likes killing people and telling Number One how he keeps messing things up. Boomer, also known as Sharon, or Number Eight if you like, is here too, and boy is she angsting about lying to the humans (and herself) and shooting the Admiral. There is actually rather little about Starbuck and her being…well, we honestly couldn’t tell from those last few episodes of BSG what the frak she’s supposed to be, a Cylon or an “Angel” or whatever else. Leobon, the Cylon who tortured Starbuck, is in there, but he seems to take a distinctly protective turn towards Starbuck, at least when talking to Number One.

 And unfortunately that’s pretty much it. The Cylons have their plan and as we all know, it didn’t work. The movie runs through the pivotal moments of the show: the destruction of Caprica, the shooting of Adama, the death of Boomer, and a bunch of other things. And yes, you do see bits of the Cylon POV interlaced with those scenes, Edward James Olmos, who directed this film, did a very seamless job. The film is rather abruptly ended with the capture and subsequent deaths of the two Number One copies aboard Galactica. There is a memorable scene, for those of us BSG fanatics towards the beginning of the film, where the Hybrid informs the Cylons of this gem of storytelling:

 “Progress reports arriving. The farms of Aerilon are burning. The beaches of Canceron are burning. The plains of Leonis are burning. The jungles of Scorpia are burning. The pastures of Tauron are burning. The harbors of Picon are burning. The cities of Caprica are burning. The oceans of Aquaria are burning. The courthouses of Libran are burning. The forests of Virgon are burning. The Colonies of Man lie trampled at our feet.”

True BSG fan-atics will most likely greatly enjoy this little-known slice of fun.

Jay-ZJay-Z left 8,000 fans including football player Ashley Cole and Coldplay front man Chris Martin thrilled yesterday as he performed at Alexandra Palace in North London.

Jay-Z’s live band and Memphis Bleek ( perhaps the most famous hype man in the business) played their part in entertaining the audience.

Jay-Z made the transition from relying on stereo to having a live band with the release of the American Gangster album in 2007.

The switch has created a higher quality musical sound at his performance and gives the artist a much greater level of control over the live performance.

Jay used the performance to brag and make audiences aware of his latest achievement, having achieved more number one albums in the US than Elvis Presley.

The Blueprint 3 boasting tracks such as Run This Town, Death of Auto-Tune, and Empire State of Mind has become the rapper’s 11th number one album.

The only act ahead of Jay now is the Beatles with eight number one albums more(19). The set spanned decades with a range of songs including, Big Pimpin, 99 problems and Empire State of Mind, next stop California.

Winning the French Open, the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Serena Williams ended the Tennis year on a high after beating her rival sibling Venus Williams at the Sony Ericsson’s Championship. But what remains to see is what kind of penalty she will have to face for her out burst at the US Open. It is allege that she threaten one of the lines personnel. Serena and the world awaits her fate.

On a more positive note Serena Williams is the best female tennis player on the planet right now, will be she able to defend her number one status or will she by this time next year have to take a back seat to another. Whatever may happened today Serena is on top of the world.

After the comedic chaos of the previous show, I felt that this week was a lot more tense.  At the start, when I saw Cheryl wearing ‘that dress’, I knew that this week was bound to be an interesting show.

Joe McElderry was up first, singing ‘Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey.  I wasn’t too keen on Joe’s performance this week, purely because I didn’t think the rock style suited his voice.  And as for those dancers, what was that all about?!  Dannii thought his voice was exceptional and said he was an absolute star.  Shows how wrong I can be, eh?

Lucie Jones was next, with one of my mum’s all time favourite songs, ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’.  I thought that Lucie’s performance was great and brought out her younger, edgeier side.  Louis said: “You’re one of the most versatile, consistent and professional performers in this competition”. 

Then it was the turn of Danyl Johnson singing ’I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ and boy, was I worried for him this week.  I’ve been a huge fan of Danyl’s quirky performances in the past, but this week I thought he was a shadow of his former self.  Dannii thought that parts of his performance were out of tune, and I had to agree.  So, I think it’s safe to say that this week was one of Danyl’s ‘off weeks’.  Hopefully next week he’ll be back on track.

Now, after last week’s debacle of Simon picking a rock song on Big Band Week, you’d have thought the other judges would have learnt a lesson from it, right?  Well this week, Cheryl chose the song ‘I Kissed A Girl’ for Lloyd Daniels.  I felt this song was totally wrong for him and wouldn’t even class it as rock.  Although Simon wasn’t too keen on Lloyd’s performance, he thought it was “a million times better than last week”.  I think that’s a compliment coming from Simon!

Stacey Solomon was up next and she was finally given some movement!  I thought her version of ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ was really good and Cheryl agreed, but wants to see more personality coming from Stacey during her performances.  Good call, Mrs Cole.

Then it was the turn of soon-to-be rock legend, Jamie Archer.  I thought he seemed really comfortable on stage this week as he sang ‘Get Your Rocks Off’, not everyone agreed though.  Louis said: “There are a hundred guys singing what you do in pubs tonight, you’re like a Lenny Kravitz impersonator”.  Oh dear!

Rachel Adedeji was next, singing the U2 classic ‘One’.  Her performance was a lot more mellow than last week’s, but I still thought that she did a good job of it.  Simon thought that Rachel had turned into a clone of Dannii this week and Danni fought back saying that Rachel had tried to get her hair like his, but “there wasn’t enough hairspray!”  Touche, Miss Minogue!

It was then time for probably one of the most talked about groups in X Factor history – John and Edward.  They sang ‘We Will Rock You’, complete with fire and masses of guyliner.  Dannii said: “I do look forward to seeing you every week, but I’m not sure that I would look forward to hearing you on the radio”.  Well said, Dannii.

Last but not least was Olly Murs.  He sang ‘Come Together’ and exposed a bit of flesh in the process – whey!  Louis  was full of praise for Olly saying: “I think you’re in the final three”.  Bold words there, Louis, but I hope your prediction is right!

…the results were in.  This week, Rachel and Lloyd faced elimination and the judges vote was sent to deadlock as they couldn’t make a decision.  The contestant with the fewest public votes was Rachel, meaning that we had to say goodbye to her.  After being in the bottom two for the third time, this girl had certainly been through the mill, but I hope it won’t be the last we see of Rachel.

Right I’m off to psych myself up for next week’s show but before I go, I must congratulate Cheryl for being number one in both the single and album charts – you go girl!

Amazon crowned a new bestseller on Thursday — the Kindle, its electronic book reader.

“Kindle has become the number one bestselling item by both unit sales and dollars — not just in our electronics store but across all product categories on Amazon.com,” said Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos.

In keeping with previous practice, Bezos declined to reveal sales figures for the Kindle, but Forrester Research estimates the device has a nearly 60 percent share of the US market followed by the Sony Reader with 35 percent.

Forrester estimates that three million e-readers will be sold in the United States this year, up from a previous forecast of two million units, and for e-reader sales to double to six million units next year.

Bezos also announced that the price of the newest international version of the Kindle, which is designed to synch with telecom networks in 100 countries, was being cut to 259 dollars from 279 dollars.

The Bezos statements came as his Seattle-based company reported a 68 percent rise in net profit in the third quarter to 199 million dollars, or 45 cents per share, better than the 33 cents per share forecast by Wall Street analysts.

Revenue increased 28 percent to 5.45 billion dollars during the quarter which ended on September 30.

Amazon shares soared 14.77 percent in after-hours electronic trading to a record 107.25 dollars.

Unlike eBay, which unveiled a cautious outlook for the holiday season the previous day, Amazon delivered an optimistic sales forecast for the Christmas period.

It said it expected fourth-quarter sales of between 8.1 billion dollars and 9.1 billion dollars, an increase of between 21 percent and 36 percent over last year.

Amazon said North America sales rose 23 percent in the quarter to 2.84 billion dollars while international sales from its British, German, Japanese, French and Chinese sites rose 33 percent to 2.61 billion dollars.

It said worldwide media sales, which include music, books and other items, grew 17 percent to 2.93 billion dollars.

Sales of electronics and other general merchandise sales climbed 44 percent to 2.36 billion dollars.

Amazon also said that the Kindle book store has increased its number of titles to more than 360,000 books including 101 of the 112 New York Times bestsellers.

Bezos told Amazon’s annual shareholders meeting in May that the company may never reveal Kindle sales figures. “Our point of view on that is that there can often be a competitive advantage in keeping the numbers close,” he said.

But Amazon is not the only firm trying to shake up the market for electronic books.

Google is pressing ahead with plans to digitize thousands of books and on Wednesday hardware firm Hewlett-Packard said it would get in on the action, stepping up its out-of-print book publishing business and taking on Google.

The US computer giant announced Wednesday it has teamed with the University of Michigan to offer print versions of more than 500,000 out-of-copyright books in the school’s library.
