Sadly, it’s been 108 degrees every day this week. It’s too hot to even go to the library, even tough we have been this week. Other than that, we have pretty much been staying in and I have been trying to finish up my annual clean things out before school starts again stuff.

I started the week by making some  homemade pickles.

 

4-6 pickling cucumbers quartered and set in deep bowl.

1 cup white vinegar

1/2 cup white sugar

3 T salt

2 T dill or dill seed

3 garlic cloves crush

4 cups water

Bring ingredients minus the cucumbers to a boil. Boil until sugar and salt are dissolved. Pour over cucumbers and put a small plate on top to submerge cucumbers. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Keeps for about a week.

Missy Mack learned how to eat a boiled egg and decided she didn’t care for the yolk.

We had soup, salad and croissants for dinner one night. Here is  Missy Mack’s plate, she would only agree to a tiny bit of soup and salad, which she didn’t touch and ate 10 croissants.

This week was National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, so we made some.

We went to the Nutty Brown to hear Bruce Robinson in concert with my neighbor growing up. It was so fun and catch up and remember our childhood. Mr. Mack did lots of dancing with Missy Mack. It was heart melting sweet.

 

Then I set to cleaning out things.

A confession:

We have a bill problem. What to do with them? We pay them on line, yet they still come in the mail. We don’t open them because we view the statements online. So, we have lots of piles of bill/mail. They just sit there piling up. I got a basket for it. I file them, but we never look at the file. What is the point. The basket over flowed and there became more piles. I went through it all.

What do  you do with your bill/mail/paperwork? I need an intervention.

I also started teaching Missy Mack to play chess. Lesson 1- the board and it’s pieces are complete and Lesson 2- the pawn and it’s moves complete. She has mastery of setting up the board and masming the pieces and is working on mastery of the pawn moves and games.

Headed to the Mack reunion this weekend so you know there will be stories.

Yes?! hahaha. I could look at their work for hours, beautiful stuff. Funny thing, I could listen to their music for HOURS too! Very talented ladies! Check out a show when they’re in your area! Before I get into the subject of todays blog, I just want to express how much of a kick ass Saturday I had this past weekend. What did Photostar Photography do? Photographed Lone Star Jam… yup and it was the best time ever. No lie, the best Saturday of my life! This scene is amazing and its days like Saturday that fuel me to keep working to achieve my goals in life. Tons of photos from the shows will be coming throughout the next couple of weeks!

Back to THE Randy EFFING Rogers Band concert. Randy is my all time favorite TX Music artist. They don’t have a single bad song, everything is written and executed amazingly. The shows are worth every penny and you leave on cloud 9, at least that’s been my feeling the past 7 or 8 years I’ve listened to them. Their set was amazing, songs from every album and the crowd sang ever word. That’s what you get when you come to a SOLD OUT Randy show! Check these out and let me know what you think!

First, I hung out a movie set, where I was a stunt driver Friday and Saturday. Then I went to a concert at the Nutty Brown, where I’ve wanted to go for quite some time. There was an accident or some sort of road closure afterwards, so I followed my friend’s trusty i-puh-fone and we rushed down country roads, desperate for black beans and eggs. Side note: Magnolia’s “neptunian landscape” is even more amazing with their rice.

Then I fell into bed and did the stunt driving thing on Saturday out at the old airport, where I also earned a hefty sunburn. So much for my big floppy hat.

Sunday I spent puttering in the yard, going to REI, joining the Tour de Cure–a 150 mile ride or diabetes in San Marcos and some good training for RAGBRAI in July–then visiting and joining the Ladybird Wildflower Center. Oh, and buying like a million native plants…

Whew! Finally home for the night, I puttered around the yard a bit more, then collapsed into bed just as it was getting dark. At 8pm… I missed a roommate’s show and a hanging out with another friend, but nothing would keep my peepers open. Until 4am when the storm came through.

That’s when I could no longer sleep (huh, guess 8 hours is enough after all) and read, thinking all the while of my poor vehicle outside in the rain on set, wondering if its windows had been rolled up or if it was leaking…

Well, to satisfy my curiosity I came back to the set Monday morning and checked it over. All’s well!

Now, back to work…
