There was an unbelievable article on UK’s “Telegraph” about a Begian man who was deemed comatose after a tragic car accident over two decades ago. As it turns out, the doctors screwed up the diagnosis; he could hear and see the doctors diagnose his condition, as well as his family mourn him by his bedside without being able to move a single muscle.

He described the day they realized “as if it was my second birth. All that time I just literally dreamed of a better life. Frustration is too small a word to describe what I felt.”

It just makes you think of how many people in the world are living in that kind of nightmare.

I’ve never seen her show except the one where Tom Cruise proves to everybody hes crazy on youtube. In fact I dont know jack shit about Oprah except shes a little bit rich and kinda good at mass persuasion. And shes done with the show.

Well it turns out the real reason is shes moving to her own cable television network ironically called OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). Ironic because she owns everything including your opinion.

Whether they be hilarious, annoying, or just have a good ‘huh?’ factor, memes are some of the most interesting byproducts of pop culture that originate in the digital world.  Memes generally rely on a piece of content that has long been living in the realm of obscurity and gives it a shout out with a twist.  People who understand the reference immediately see the humor, along with an added ego-shot of understanding said reference, giving the person a feeling of exclusivity. And possibly warm fuzzies.

Lesser-geeks come to understand the reference later, when seeing the burgeoning meme and not comprehending why anyone would find it funny. It frustrates the lesser geeks, because, like any good inside joke, it makes them feel like it eludes to some secret inside knowledge that is not available to them. So they do their research, until they uncover THE TRUTH.

With the stunning pace at which civilization is advancing, we hardly have to wonder about what’s “out there” because, for the most part, we already know. Anyone can punch a few keys on their laptop or iphone or whatever and find out pretty close to instantly. Thats weak shit.

There is no tangible unknown anymore. Sure we still have the rest of the universe to think about. Too bad its impossible for any one person to go anywhere cool in a feasible amount of time. And no the moon doesn’t count because it sucks there.

Back in the days of Magellan, Marco Polo, the vikings; all you needed to find a new world was a boat, a crew of sturdy men, and of course a treasure chest full of gold. Nowadays even the latter wont get you anywhere uncharted.

so the much anticipated Nintendo DS game Scribblenauts has finally released. this game has won numerous awards pertaining to best game of E3 etc. if you don’t know what Scribblenauts is, it’s a game where you solve platform based puzzles by writing literally ANYTHING you can think of. you can read more about the game in an old post i wrote HERE.

the full game was leaked several days before it’s official release. the leet hax0rz have also released a full list of every possible word the game recognizes. there are over 22,000 words! CRAZY!

i personally feel that the most fun part of the game is trying to stump it. also seeing how different objects interact with each other. i also feel that the game should have some type of verses mode. so you can have a turn based war type game with friends. basically using anything you can think of to fight. would be SO fun haha.

the devs of the game seem to have snuck in some fun little internet memes into the list of dictionary words. one’s i’ve seen so far include:

Here is my rant on why you shouldn’t use: “LOL, LMAO, ROFL, OMG, IDK, BFF, ORLY?! – YA RLY!”

When I first started going out with my P.Y.T, I would use these 7 among others to describe the way I’d feel online. Even though I was in college, I felt no harm in using it. However, as our relationship matured, I did too. She made me realize that there was really no point of using “lol” unless you actually did “Laugh Out Loud.” There never was a point where I had to laugh out loud based on what some one said on AOL Instant Messenger.

LMAO is something that I used when I got bored of saying LOL, and now one my friends uses it way too much. He tells me that he actually does laugh his a** off, but I highly doubt it. He’s a really funny guy and normally doesn’t laugh and stupid stuff.

ROFL is something that I used in middle school, because it looks cool. There is really no other reason to use it, by the time I was in ninth grade, this term was out of my aimcabulary.

OMG is something that I can understand people use, if they get lazy and can’t type out “Oh My God.” I normally use it if someone is explaining things and typing pretty fast and I need to respond to let them know that I’m still there. I don’t know. I still use this, but not as often as I did.

IDK is another pet peeve of mine, because again it signifies laziness. If you really don’t know, then let the person know in a sofisticated way. “I don’t understand,” “I don’t understand what you’re saying,” “I don’t have an idea,” “Can you explain more clearly” … etc

BFF is something that I used to used back in middle school. Then I realized I am not a girl and stopped using it.

ORLY?! – YA RLY! was a stupid phase in my life that I used for probably a week, just because I found the “ORLY owl” hilarious. I actuall did laugh out loud.

Jeg listet meg altså sliten og matt ut av eksamenslokalet på fredag samtidig som jeg prøvde hardt å føle meg en smule andektig: jeg var tross alt endelig ferdig med bachelorgraden min. Tre års nesten konstant lesing, mange timers oppgaveskriving, flere tusen sider pensum og et utall nye bekjentskaper i form av forfattere, teoretikere, medstudenter og professorer. Blod, svette og tårer. Hurra og huttetu.

Det føles litt rart å ikke være 100% sikker på hva høsten bringer. Når jeg skal være enkeltemnestudent et semester får jeg bare plass på de emnene som ikke er blitt fulle i løpet av første inntaksrunde, så gudene vet hva jeg ender opp med. Akkurat nå er det litt skummelt.
