When I received this survey in the mail last week, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.  Although I did not check with Obama Girl, I’m going out on a limb to proclaim that the Republican National Committee secured neither her approval for this survey nor her permission to invoke Obama’s name.  But I am glad the Republican Party is on the ball.

My only complaint is that the survey is multiple choice and so I elaborate on two questions below.

Question Number 4: Should English be the Official language of the United states?

SevenCell’s Answer: Let me just start by saying, “Whew! I was worried that one had slipped through the cracks….” I had woken up in a cold sweat the very morning I received the survey panicked over our official language situation. Do we have an official language?  Does the White House even have an “Official Language Situation Room?” It should. What happens if we do get an official language and people start speaking other languages? All hell will break loose. Anyway, I was especially comforted to know that the Republicans are keeping on top of things and floated that question right up to Number 4. We pay them six figures, you know. Gotta get our money’s worth.

Question Number 7: Do you believe that Barack Obama’s nominees for federal courts should be immediately and unquestionably approved for their lifetime appointments by the U.S. Senate?

SevenCell’s Answer: I believe we should amend the Constitution to permit Rush Limbaugh and Al Sharpton to collaborate on nomination choices for federal judges instead of the duly elected  President of the United States (until both Rush and Al die). If we are unable to secure that Amendment, I say we go with the United States Constitution as it stands.

Now ATN’s most popular episode is approaching 3 million views on the group’s channel alone; additionally their videos are simultaneously hosted on the Barely Political channel, which brought the world Obama Girl. The Gregory Brothers have since been featured on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show. They obtained a record deal and released an album in July, and they’ve become sought-after session musicians, lending their skills to projects helmed by wunderkind Sufjan Stevens. Even T-Pain himself — an artist who demonstrates a remarkable capacity for self-parody — is now in on the joke.

So the Gregory Brothers effectively force the likes of titans Joe Biden, Michele Bachmann, and Katie Couric to sing their songs for the world to hear; their meta-commentary supplants the original commentary that it pillories.

By all objective measures, I should have woken up feeling pretty crappy today. Yesterday was a really long day. By the time I was heading to bed – which was a little late compared to my normal bed time – I was feeling head- and neck-achy. While trying to fall asleep I started thinking about all the things that I need to accomplish this semester, and I started feeling really stressed out. I fluffed my pillow and put on my eye mask, but I was pretty sure I was going to wake up feeling like I needed more sleep and potentially having a killer headache. That’s usually what happens when all of these factors collide.

But instead, I woke up feeling great and ready to tackle the day. And I have President Obama to thank.

He visited me in my sleep! In my dreams, of course. But that was enough. In my dream, not entirely unlike real life, I had a crush on Obama (maybe not quite as big as Obama Girl’s crush). And I was not shy about it at all. At the beginning of the dream I was sitting on some bleachers with a bunch of other people watching him run around a track. I decided that I wanted to get an autograph, and luckily there were no secret-service agents in my dream. So I ran down and got his attention and held out the bottom of my shirt for him to sign.

Apparently, my dream version of Obama was a huge flirt! I’m pretty sure even my dream-self didn’t really think that Obama was actually into me – it wasn’t that kind of dream. But I was happy enough to have him pretend for a little while. Like the class act that he is, instead of just signing the bottom of my shirt, he wrote all over it – mostly the chest area. (By the way, I do find it a bit disturbing that my dream about interacting with the President is of him acting like a 13 year old boy, in case you were wondering.)

Anyway, the dream continued for awhile longer, but I can’t remember many details. We hung out a bit at my house, we chatted, we laughed. I think Jon may have been around somewhere in the background – a bit like Doug in the Flight of the Conchords tv series. And then I woke up feeling happy and refreshed!

To be fair, I doubt this new approach to healthcare will cure any real illnesses, but I think Obama’s really onto something when it comes to giving people a little pick-me-up.

Last night I had the privilege of attending the Webbys, the annual awards ceremony that is akin to the Oscars of the Internet. No, this blog did not win an award. Give me a break, I just started it!

Here’s the story: LaunchSquad has a client called Next New Networks, they are basically a TV network on the Web. They have a bunch of channels, such as BarelyPolitical (home of Obama Girl), and Indy Mogul, each of which have various types of programming and shows. A talented up-and-comer by the name of Bobby Miller created a show last year for Indy Mogul called The Best Short Films in the World. The show was nominated for a Webby (for best variety show) and ended up winning. During the voting process, Bobby started mocking Jimmy Fallon, who was also nominated for the award, and created a site called Don’t Let Jimmy Win. Fallon later acknowledged Bobby in an interview.

So…the Webby’s asked Bobby to go through the Red Carpet while arriving at the event, and I was sent to help him through the process and work with the media that were there. This was a first for me, so I was winging it, but we strategized on how to try to make the most of the opportunity. We decided to do a few interviews when we got there, and then wait until Fallon arrived to see if we could have them meet face-to-face and perhaps go down the Red Carpet together, which would make for some fun interviews and such. So we waited for about an hour as a bunch of other winners and celebs arrived, including Lisa Kudrow, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Arianna Huffington, and one of my personal favorites Sarah Silverman (photos above).

Fallon was running late (he was taping Late Night), and I approached his publicist, introduced her to Bobby and gave her the proposal. She was a tough cookie, but seemed open to the idea, assuming he could get to the event in time to do interviews. A bit later, the Webby’s folks told us we needed to go down the carpet as it was getting too late. So no Fallon interaction. Good news was that we were right behind two Victoria’s Secret models (photo above, best I could get). Bobby did a couple of interviews and then the Webby’s PR head (who happened to be an old friend of mine), came up to me and said Fallon had arrived and we had to leave the carpet immediately and go into the event, otherwise he wasn’t going to get out of the car and do any interviews. I tried to fanagle but there was no hope. Bobby and I were done. Thrown off the Red Carpet. Our strategy did not work. Thank you Jimmy Fallon Publicist Woman.

My friend did do me a very nice favor by sneaking me into the event (thanks again GC). SNL’s Seth Myers was the host and other celeb appearances included Cameron Diaz, Martha Stewart and Charlie Rose. The higlight of the night was a brief conversation with Sarah Silverman on the way out in which I thanked her for one of her Jesus Is Magic jokes that I often use. It cannot be repeated here…

I feel like I’m in holiday mode already. Haven’t done all that much work since exams ended. Besides probably Modern History. Life around the house seems quite bludgey without mum. Dad and I just kinda muck around alot. Today morning, I was busy youtubing until breakfast at 9. I went upstairs and found my Dad watch Death Note the movie. You have no idea how amazed I was. Especially since I hadn’t seen the movie myself. Light is played by Tatsuya Fujiwara (who was one of the protgaonists of Battle Royale for people that borrowed it off me) who I think does not suit the role too well. L is played perfectly by Ken’ichi Matsuyama.

I ended up trying to watch it after Dad finished.

Damn my hand was shakey…

I then went to the ISCF 50th Anniversary Church Service. The turnout was quite disappointed but I did have fun =)

Anyway it was a fairly short day from 2:30pm to 5pm. On the way home, I heard the “pop” version of Taylor Swift’s song Love Story. It’s like a crappy version of the original country version. They just added beats and some electric guitars in it… I prefer the original.

Found some nice Obama related clips on Youtube. I remember following the party danceoff last year and the Obama Girl Videos were hilarious but for some reason, I never saw this one.

Oh and for some reason, I never saw John McCain Get BarackRoll’d…
