This morning was the start of Class Trip week for the Fall Semester. These trips are far more interesting to the students than I ever thought. For me, I see this as an opportunity for students to see art in context and not exclusively in books or on a computer screen.

3D Design

This class ended up at the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts and the Contemporary Art Museum of Saint Louis. At the Pulitzer, we were allowed to enter before the usual business hours and had the entire place to ourselves. The exhibition Urban Alchemy/Gordon Matta-Clark was fantastic. You truly get a sense of Matta-Clark’s vision when viewing the sculptures accompanied with the photographs documenting the process. It seemed like Bingo stood out as the most impressive to my students. Also, there is a movie featured on the PFA’s mezzanine that really seemed to capture their attention. I always know it’s a good trip when the students just wander around themselves without any sense of time.

One exchange with a young student as we both viewed Bingo:

Me: What do you think so far?

Student: I like it. You can really feel how personal his work is.

This student came to this conclusion without any prepping from me. I was impressed.

MW 2D Design

Only one instance stood out to me with this group when viewing Michael Byron: Cosmic Tears. I was looking at the Michael Tracy’s 11th, 12th, and 13th Stations of the Cross for Latin America: La Pasion when a student looked at me and said, “You know, when I look at this stuff I see what I would’ve done different. But, I guess I should just look at it.” I told him he was right.

More tomorrow when my TTH 2D Design class hits MOCRA’s Michael Byron: Cosmic Tears…

At this juncture, my family and I are in St. Louis art purgatory: the suburbs. Now, we are here for various reasons that involve the mortgage crisis and me changing careers. I spare all the details because I’d rather not discuss them.

On most days, I never talk about art with anyone who crosses my path in the suburbs. Art just isn’t a typical topic as many people find it difficult to understand or just annoying. However, today, while getting my haircut at a Great Clips located in a strip mall, the lady cutting my hair once studied architecture and enjoys painting. The conversation was the usual surface speak between two strangers, but it was far better than discussing the new Taco Bell Black Jack Taco commercial.

Today was a nice surprise. Now, I can go to the studio.

A major earthquake once more hit Indonesia on September 30, 2009. The 7.6 moment-magnitude scale occurred off-shores of Padang, West Sumatera. Death-toll estimates range from a few hundred to over 500, with thousands more trapped in collapsed buildings and under landslides.

Indonesia lies among European, Pacific and Australian plates. We’re also situated in Pacific ring of fire, so it must have been very common for us dealing with tectonic and volcanic activities. Sadly, the earth has been way more vigorous in recent times. That’s what shakes Indonesia, and that causes catastrophes of course.

Why do natural disasters happened so often lately? Tsunami in Samoa, typhoon in Philippines and Vietnam, earthquakes in Indonesia… I recall we had a big earthquake last month in West Java. It occurred in adjacent time. I’m really afraid and unprepared. Don’t know, I think we’ve been warned by the nature to be more careful and caring since there are lots of danger signs out there. Perhaps we should protect our environment more intensely or pray more devoutly. We would never known what’s gonna happen until it’s happened.

Otherwise is it the start of 2012 phenomenon? (Okay, I don’t put 100% trust in that belief. Just a bit frightened having watch “2012″ movie trailer on the cinema and I associated those latest calamities with 2012 apocryphal happening. Kinda stupid.)

I give my deepest condolence to all of the victims. Lord, please protect and save me, my family, and my buddies.

The production of vegetables is largely altered when considering in the summer and winter. The produ

The production of vegetables is largely altered when considering in the summer and winter. The production rate is much higher than what we get in the winter. This is of the usual scenario till last year. But there is appreciable growth in the current production year.

Reason for low production :

During winter seasons the climate in the area nearly drops to 0 degrees. This temperature is not suited for the vegetables that are grown in the area. The climate will retard the growth of the plant causing it give a low production rate. The vegetables water content gets frozen due to the cold temperature and this will cause the dying of plants and in some cases change in the chemical composition too. This is the main reason felt with the plants in the cold region by the vegetable farmers.

Steps to improve it:

The conventional process taken to overcome this difficulty faced by the farmers is by making use of the greenhouse climate to them. The greenhouse is a place where the whole room covered with the glasses so it will trap the sunlight in the room and cause a high temperature in the room than the surrounding to make the plants to grow fine as they grow in the summer. The plants also are easy to maintain in a closed atmosphere. The pest control is of a easy task over these areas. Then about considering the watering and other phenomenon more controlled environment can be provided to the plants grown in these areas. The growing rate can be improved in these plants by the usage of straw bales in the process. It is the wheat straw that are used often in their process.

Production Maintenance:

The production rate improvement can most significantly maintained by the use of more conventional implementation of the production laws. The first thing is removal of wastages, which can be achieved in the vegetables by eliminating the occurrence of defects in the vegetables. So the pest control and proper fertilizers has to be provided to the plants. In addition to it the transport defects has to mean and the necessary steps has to be taken to avoid it. The vegetable automation can be implemented to improve the production rate by reducing its ideal time. The periodic growth has to be improved by the use of inducers and catalyst to the on going process in the plants.

The production rate of vegetables in winter is very less. Shifting from the conventional growing process and using the greenhouse growing can improvise this. Then by using the production laws the rate of failure occurrence can be minimized. The other thing that has to be done is use the current technologies available.

“It is always better to be prepared and prevent rather than to repair and repent.” This is a quotation which emphasizes preventive techniques.

World is ever changing. People went better from good and best from better. Industry people have also begun to think of different approaches to satisfy the customer. They have now come to the stage of finding out the methods to prevent a problem rather than ‘finding out a solution to a problem’ and finding out methods to eliminate waste from monitoring of waste.

Failure mode and effect analysis is one of the tools of total quality management which helps in finding out the possible failure modes of a design, product, process or service and setting up ways to prevent their occurrence.

FMEA is a proactive tool which is used to foresee the probable failures that can occur at a later stage. This forces one to analyze critically each and every process with the sole aim of identifying problems that may emerge.

A failure mode and effect analysis is an engineering technique used to define, identify and eliminate known and/or potential failures, problems, errors and so on from the system, design, process and/or service before they reach the customer.

The FMEA will identify corrective actions required to prevent failures from reaching the customer, thereby assuring the highest durability, quality and reliability possible in a product or service.

FMEA involves:

Identifying known and potential failure mode;

Identifying cause and effect of each failure mode;

Prioritizing the failure mode according to Risk Priority Number;

Finding out preventive action for failure mode.

That is, rather than directly monitoring the actual behavior of the client, you would monitor any temporary or permanent effect (product) that can be seen as the result of a specific behavior. When the behavior product is simply deposited or left over from some ordinary set of client/system interactions, the “product” is synonymous with a type of “physical traces.”

Behavior products can be used when a more direct measure of the behavior might interfere with the behavior directly, or when the behavior itself is not available for measurement. Since the observer is not ordinarily present when behavior products are used, there is less chance for the measurement process to interfere with the natural occurrence of the behavior.

There are a number of advantages of using products. First, a product readily lends itself to precise counting and quantification for evaluation purposes. Second, the observer does not have to be present when a behavior is being performed. Third, using behavior products generally does not disturb or interrupt the ongoing flow of the client’s behavior. Finally, use of behavior products is relatively easy to implement, requires little or no special equipment, and can easily be taught to the client or relevant others.

Today I am going to ask you a question, and it is my hope that you will leave a response here on this blog. Often times the act of writing something down allows our mind to leave it, to rest in it or to be a peace with it. Today’s question is concerning others, but is deeply rooted in your soul.

We often times define ourselves based on the actions of others. We give ourselves value or diminish our value based on the ones we surround ourselves with. This question is going to ask you to look deep with in, and to place your heart and soul out in the open for all to see. This is a risk for most and an everyday occurrence for others. Some of us naturally “wear our hearts on our sleeves”, but this question, this exercise is different, I am not going to ask you to state something personal about you, directly, but rather to look at others in your life, now or in the past, and to place your heart out for them.

Take your time, think deeply on this question, and than respond.

Who in your life should be acknowledged more?

It seems like a simple question, a one or two word response and your on your way, but that’s not what the question is calling for, what its calling for is a deeper response, one that calls for the emotion of the soul to be heard. Use this space to acknowledge them, offer them your praise and empty bear your soul to them.

It’s been a while for me not to post anything here. The problem is I can’t get any internet connections after my house’s roof cracked and the water started falling in my room. Simultaneously, my modem got wet and I was freaked out because of it. I surmised that it’s broken since it didn’t turn on at all. Suddenly, tonight I coincidentally tried this and that and the result was rather fascinating; IT CAN BE TURNED ON AGAIN! Uyeah finally I got my life back on the track!

Nothing uproarious happened lately. Week of examination which is rather havocked will be continued next Monday started with Sundanese and civic. I’ve found out maths score and I’m not really satisfied yet I should feel grateful for it. Oh right, I just want to let you know even it doesn’t matter at all; I start using keyboard and mouse external again. They are awesome and colored with white obviously. I changed my binder’s cover with movie posters; Frost / Nixon and Angels & Demons. Ok, I admit I’m writing this post like mere random but hey this mind has many things waiting to be poured into a post but I can barely make a solid queue, my mistakes.

Let’s start the randomness again. Recently, I like playing cards. Whether it’s poker game or split or anything, it’s prefectly fine, they are fun. I spend lot of time after school not as I used to. Maybe 4:00 pm is still too early for me to come back home these days. Some friends of mine who also are a big fan of cards, come back home at the same time. Poker is the most favorite game we’ve been playing. Yesterday, I opened up Wikipedia and searched for list of poker hands. They named like really really awesomely. Starting with straight flush (same suit in sequences) until three of a kind (three cards at the same rank with another two coming from another rank). Straight flush itself has a special name for some cards like ‘Steel Wheel’ and ‘Royal Flush’. Praise God finally I know why Bond won at Casino Royale at the time, he got Royal Flush which is the highest and unconquerable!

From the penmanship section (the part where you can judge me as the weirdest guy ever), I recently try to write like Mrs. Diana. She got a perfect writing skill! The letters are solid and they look decent. But after last night rehearsal, I relinquished to write like her, too hard to be plagiarised. Tania’s handwriting looks decent too. But I considered as ‘too girly’ just like Saniy’s. A friend of mine keeps saying that the most decent handwriting she has ever seen is Mr. Sapto’s. His is like printed and nobody can rival him at school.

Tonight I bought Taylor Swift and Renee Olstead, their music is rather calming. I mispronounced Renee but after commanding my laptop to say that name for me lol, me at the end of the day enunciating it right. It’s weird Swift released her album like really really late in Indonesia (she has had the top spot at iTunes Top Songs a couple months ago). Oh and Chris Cornell’s album is available. He elaborated with Timbaland but after hearing a couple tracks, I’m disappointed with the album and decided to not buy it. It’s catastrophic and the catastrophe doesn’t stop there as Chris Cornell singing awkwardly backsounded with something like Egyptian thingy or whatever. Somobody reviewed his music at iTunes and said ‘completely garbage from start to finish’. Well, I agree.

Earth Hours, supported by WWF, was held at 08:30 pm – 09:30 pm tonight. I was at BSM at the time but my sister had already told my maid to turn of the lamps at that particular time. Starbucks clearly supports the action as they turned of some parts of lighting. The Coffee Bean even turned on the light at 10:00 pm -ish which is weird lol.

Ok, I gotta prepare things for Monday’s exam. Should have done these works back then but what can I do with my acute chronic laziness?

This week has been such an excruciating week of havoc. Huge amount of things that should be accomplished in just one day before the exam being held and I was like too lazy to get things done. As today the exams of science subjects were done, I’d go out and have some fun.

At Monday, we got Chemistry exam. My class was elaborated with XI Science 1 which a little bit frightening and turning my spirit down as their grades are quite high. I’d be ranked 4th probably if I were on that class. So, after having English exam, we came in to the class and eventually greeted by XI Science 1 dudes who were already sitting on our desks. Rifqi was there, saying I should be on the class next door lol. The examination itself was considered as comme ci, comme ça. The stoichiometry thingy was lot harder and I don’t know how I could get through. Mr. Vittry (lol) told us the result as today and I’m just grateful I don’t need to remedial because I wasn’t sure I’d done it right back then.

Physics were coming up on Tuesday. I heard that a few people at XI Science 2 got 100 and stuff. I don’t really care, I didn’t maximise the endeavours anyway. Wednesday was for Biology. It’s been confirmed I answered wrong some questions and I’m still devestated by. It’s really not kind of stuff I want to remember, you know, recognising that you’ve answered wrong. Hate it.

And the final science subject was maths as being held today. Again and over again, there’s one wrong answer had been confirmed. It sucks as hell. Hmm…let’s just get over it.

By the way, I watched my favourite serial TV ‘House M.D.’ again tonight and it was really really good stuff. Wanting to watch it again tomorrow. Inspiring!

I’m being so needy about sleeping this week as the effin exams had taken over my sleeping-time. Until then, see you next time.

Yesterday was Vathiya’s birthday (yep it’s her, the keenest one at my class) so me and my friends were making fun of her till she cried. It was the battle of DRAMA QUEEN amongst Dhayaning, Saniy, and Debrina who competed to make Vathiya cry and to be the most lebay-est drama queen ever. At the end of the day, it was Saniy, who succeeded making Vathiya burst into tears with her ridiculous silly way by involving her dad and stuff. So when Vathiya came in to the class (she was ‘bullied’ outside), we had set up an unorthodox birthday cake which was made of fried rice shaped like party hat. She gave the first slice to Debrina and so on.

The freaky bizarre thing happened on the next day (today). So in peculiar way, the one who had birthday brought her own cake to school. She even put a text on top of it saying “for my dear friends”. And you know what made it worse? We ended up throwing the whipped cream to each other. It was insanely insane, Firdaus who at first wasn’t involved in the battle of whipped-cream-throwing at the end got busted too. There’s this crazy thing called whipped-cream-bath, so basically we rubbed whipped cream to each other’s hair. Actually, we used to rub it to the face but then me being the first dude to rubbed it to people’s hair till it’s getting sticky and nasty lol.

The battle wasn’t over yet, we decided to up against Vathiya and rubbed her all over her body. I was like put a lots of whipped cream on my hand ~ ready to threw it off. Then all at once, we rubbed her and simultaneously made her look like a hobo lol. We’re cleaning ourselves on the place which is actually intended to have wudhu. It’s like we’re bathing together because everyone was messed up with dirts and we also bought a soap which incidentally falling to the ground. It’s just insane, I can’t say more lol.

Yeah, I arrived at home and straightaway had a doubled-bath; clean every part of my body twice. So yeah, I’m really thrilled, today is awesome and there’s no major exam for tomorrow.

Let’s read drama queen’s version of the story, it’ll be much funnier and freaky than mine. I’m not pretty good at this.

Well, I’m sure everyone is bored enough reading my posts entitled PROTECTED. I know it, but I’ve been in hard situation lately when nobody can actually help but myself. That’s one of the reason why my protected posts (if you’re capable opening it) sound like emo-ish, silly, and unstable. I’m not sure I’m gonna heal over either. Leave it alone, let time do its job. Move on!

So, yesterday I was offered a scholarship supported by Sampoerna Foundation. It is United World Colleges offering 11 scholarships for distinguished students in Indonesia. 10 students from every honored school in Bandung are gonna compete to get the scholarship. From SMA Negeri 3 Bandung, I don’t know actually all of 10. I only recognise Vito, Syifa, Tania, Iqbal, and some people I’ve seen somewhere but I don’t even know their names. Surely, they’re smart and capable to compete at such high level field.

It’s terrifying how the competition will be as maybe hundred of honored students from all over Indonesia will strive to get the 11 scholarships they offer. Well, for me I have nothing to lose. I just wanna try, that’s all. By the way, the scholarship itself only consisted of 2 full scholarship and for the rest, only partial scholarship. It’s way expensive for me but yeah, my friend said it’s pretty normal. The certificate I’ll have if I get the scholarship is International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) which is not popular in Indonesia but vice versa in foreign countries. It’s honored, actually and it’ll be so much easier for me to apply to any universities around the world as it’s well-recognised better than Indonesian highscool certificate of graduation. Fascinating, isn’t it?

However, the competition ain’t gonna be easy. I’ll just do my best. Wish me luck!
