Best album released in summer which recorded 750,000 copies sales in its first sales alone makes Japan’s best Arashi once again jumps up as top male idol group and in result acquires the No. 1 spot from male celebrity search ranking. From soundtrack of movie to CM of drama, don’t people say that it’s almost impossible not to see their appearance on TV even in only one day? Not only Arashi is secured their 1st place as a group, the individual members also stand out on the search keyword ranking as you can see Sho Sakurai at the 34th, Satoshi Ohno at 36th and Jun Matsumoto at 38th. Passing the 10th group anniversary, seems that the momentum will keep this group collecting all interests on them even in year 2010.

Intense competition at the back of Arashi is from pop group Tohoshinki who acquires the 2nd spot. These two groups also hold the 30th and 39th rank in total search keyword ranking. As celebrity to enter the top 50 in total search ranking, even to compare to the female celebrities, this is only a glimpse of amazing popularity power of Arashi and Tohoshinki among their fans.

The OCN announced the search keyword ranking of 2009 on December 1.

In the site, keyword searched ranking in 2009 is being announced. As for the first place general ranking was “Yahoo” search engine, having an average of 1,900,000,000 access per day, the second place, was “Youtube”, and the third place was “2.ch”.

In addition, for an entertainer ranking for woman’s search, the top three was, “AKB48″ “YUI” “Noriko Sakai”,and a man’s entertainer search ranking top three was, “Arashi” “TVXQ” and “EXILE”.

By the way, the top 3 search of the general ranking announced by Yahoo the other day was, “YouTube” “mixi” and “2.ch”.

Forgive forgive forgive…

I have been unable to properly post for over a week because guess what? As lame as it sounds, my internet is down.

My internet situation is brutally complicated. I receive bills for it from three different companies and every 3 or 4 months or so it stops. Tons of fun.

First I have to pay “OCN” which I guess is my provider although I could be wrong.
Next I have to pay Docomo for the actual line itself and the box and whatever else. Then occasionally I get these silly little bills for 400 yen, about 4 dollars, from another division of Docomo or Ntt or something and its all a nightmare.

Of and calling the help line…forget about it. I might as well ring up some random person living Argentina and try and talk to them about the current political situation in Pakistan. Its horrid. Its pure torture. Its ultra-complex. Its Japan.

I know I am a baffoon…but I refuse to beleive its only me suffering here.

Hopefully I can get ahold of someone at one of these companies tonight (doubt it, they close at 3PM) or tomorrow and beg them to please, pretty please turn my internet back on.

Bare with me loyal readers, I am working on it.

I have a long way to go before I can master the Spanish language. I have been practicing in my spare time but I still can´t compose a decent title for this post. I live for the day when this phrase - Mi aerodeslizador está lleno de anguilas (My hovercraft is full of eels) – comes in useful.

Why is a Welshman who can´t even speak his own mother tongue bothering to learn the language of a country that he hasn´t even visited? The answer comes in the form of my beautiful madrileña girlfriend who speaks Spanish, English and German and her prolific mastery of language has inspired me to develop my skills and eventually, in the dim and distant future, we might be able to converse freely in this sexy sounding language.

Tonight, I am beginning a 9-week OCN course in Spanish for Beginners.  It should be enjoyable. I am well-educated to degree standard but trying to learn a language is something I haven´t done since I was in secondary school and scraped a C grade at GCSE French. It is another positive step for me that will stimulate my mind once more as I get my life back on track.

It´ll be even better if  the tutor has an order of fish invading her unconventional mode of transport.

A fellow blogger recently pointed me to a study done by a couple of Harvard business professors (Gompers and Lerner) titled “Performance Persistence in Entrepreneurship”. This study looked at the track record of first and second time Entrepreneurs creating a successful enterprise. (Success was defined as taking the start-up entity public.) The results of the study were chilling to say the least.

They found that first time Entrepreneurs only had a 22% chance of success and for the 78% who tried it again the Entrepreneur was only 23% successful in their next venture. They also noted that to a certain degree “success breeds success” – the successful ones who tried a second venture were 34% likely to succeed.

This Harvard research and a companion study done by CIBC World Markets in 2005 suggested that successful ventures had a number of consistent characteristics that made them over achieve. These traits included: a) High Level of Education (2 of 3 Canadian Entrepreneurs have post secondary education), b) Extensive Use of Advisers (Service Professionals, Board Advisers, Board of Directors), c) Outsourcing Strategies (Companies focused on core competencies and outsourced other non-core functions), d) Technology Enablement (Companies utilized Web presence, CRM software to enhance and support customer interactions) and e) Focus on US and International Markets (Canada is only the starting point).

This is where the Ontario Commercialization Network (OCN) comes into play. Eight of the 13 centres have been funded with an Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR). These individuals are seasoned executives who have built, sold and turned around a number of ventures in their careers. The role is to “accelerate the path to commercialization” for these early-stage companies.

EIR’s in the OCN all have a unique and individual style in advising their clients on “creating the organization’s traction”. Supported by Provincial, Federal and Private funds, EIR’s across the province rely on a core set of resources to support their clients. These include 1) education and reference material, 2) extensive network of contacts and practical experience, 3) market research, 4) executive coaching and mentoring and 5) assistance in building a compelling & focused story.

Entrepreneurs are the key to Ontario’s innovation agenda and are encouraged to sign up with the Commercialization centre in their region. We need to do all we can to increase their odds of “Stunning Success”.

St. Augustine, FL – “In many cultures, rain is one of God’s ultimate blessings,” offered Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) Executive Director Fr. Martin Ritsi during his remarks at the May 20 and 21 dedication of the new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building. Indeed, as over 30 inches of rain fell on North Florida during the two-day dedication, the new building and the hundreds of faithful from around the world who gathered for the festivities were blessed abundantly.

The Dedication Committee, chaired by Mrs. Helen Nicozisis, OCMC staff, and Board Members were honored to receive 10 hierarchs from all the Orthodox Jurisdictions represented in the Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA) as well as over 300 clergy and lay people from around the world. Several past and current OCMC Missionaries were also on hand to celebrate the new era in North American Orthodox missions that the Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building represents.

On the night of May 20, a reception was held at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village; OCMC Board President, Mr. Clifford Argue opened the evening by welcoming many of these distinguished guests after an Invocation from Metropolitan Nicholas of Amissos, of the American Carpatho Russian Orthodox Diocese in the USA, assisted by Fr. Mark Arey, General Secretary of SCOBA.

Following Mr. Argue’s remarks, OCMC Missionary to Albania Mr. Nathan Hoppe offered his reflections on the past, present and future of the OCMC. Mr. Hoppe remarked that, “With this new center we are equipped in a new way to reach out and to powerfully proclaim that Christ is truly risen and that He’s transformed all of reality.” Both Fr. Martin and Mr. Argue concurred with Mr. Hoppe’s assessment of the new building’s significance and also noted that the new mission center is the culmination of years of hard work and sacrificial giving from each of the SCOBA jurisdictions, many Orthodox philanthropic organizations, and individual supporters.

Two men, however, were recognized for their pivotal roles in the growth of the Orthodox Missions movement – His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, and His Eminence Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Chairman of SCOBA, who were the honorees during the dedication. Addressing the two prelates, Board member Fr. Matthew Tate shared, “Your missionary efforts throughout the Church truly are legendary, and it is most appropriate that the Mission Center building be dedicated in each of your names.”

The new building will prove to be a vital resource in the continuation of this work. Broader understanding and support of missions, however, is still needed, reminded Wednesday’s keynote speaker, OCMC Board Vice President and Chancellor of St. Vladimir’s Seminary Fr. Chad Hatfield. “Many of us know little about our American missiological heritage,” he said. But he noted that it is this missiological foundation exemplified by saints who served in this country, including prayer, understanding, vision, planning, and funding, that we must draw upon in order to spread the Gospel around the world.

OCMC’s major benefactors, the SCOBA hierarchs, Missionaries, and others who made the dream of the new OCMC building a reality were recognized at the Wednesday evening banquet. Prior to the benediction offered by Bishop Antoun of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, who was assisted by OCMC Board Member Fr. Luke Veronis, each of these ardent supporters and dedicated mission workers received a framed rendering of the new building that they worked so hard to see completed.

At the banquet, OCMC was honored to receive a $25,000 donation from the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, presented by National President Aphrodite Skeadas.

The morning of the Thursday, May 21, began with a Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Fr. Nikitas Theodosian graciously welcomed as the Liturgy’s celebrant His Eminence Alexios Metropolitan of the Atlanta Metropolis of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the many faithful who gathered for the early morning worship. The Metropolitan was assisted by Fr. Ritsi and Archdeacon Panteleimon Papadopoulos.

Dedication proceedings were held immediately following the Liturgy at the new building, which included a blessing service celebrated by Archbishop Demetrios. Following the service, a hand painted icon of the Mission Center’s patron saints, Cyril and Methodius, was presented by Archbishop Demetrios from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Then OCMC was blessed to receive the relics of two of Orthodoxy’s most renowned missionary saints – St. Cosmas Aitolos, Missionary to the Balkans, presented by Archbishop Anastasios, and St. Innocent, Apostle to America, presented by His Beatitude Jonah, Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). Following a ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling, guests took time to venerate the relics and tour the new four-million dollar, 12,000 square foot facility.

Nearly 250 people reconvened at the Renaissance Resort following the dedication for a luncheon held in honor of Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios. Following an introduction by OCMC President Emeritus Fr. Alexander Veronis, Archbishop Anastasios offered, “It is with particular joy and all the while ‘blessing the Lord’, that we reflect on the work that the OCMC has offered to multiple missionary fields. The present inauguration of this Administration and Training Center surely forms a very important landmark.”

After being introduced by OCMC’s first executive director, Bishop Dimitrios of Xanthos, Archbishop Demetrios illustrated the significance of the new building when he said, “[This building] is a miracle of God showing the disposition, and showing the tremendous desire, for building on [the North American] missionary effort.”

“So much has transpired in the movement of Orthodox missions over the last decades that bring us to this moment…and it is a glorious occasion that we’ve come to,” reflects Fr. Martin on the completion and dedication of the new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building. “We are now at a position where [missions] is expected, where it is common, where it is a challenge that many people are accepting and following through on…Today we are on a property with a vision that has come to fruition; but a vision that is not complete. It is a building that is built for the needs of today with the vision for what is to come tomorrow…[This building] stands as a symbol and a sign of what missions means in our Church today in North America.”

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) is the official missions agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA) dedicated to fulfilling Christ’s last command to make disciples of all nations.

An Ascension Greeting from the Orthodox Christian Mission Center

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) joins you in celebrating the glorious Ascension of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Continuing the work of the Apostles themselves, may we all be given the strength to answer the call issued by Christ on that day to “go and make disciples of all nations.” Please pray for the 1.8 billion people around the world who have yet to hear the Gospel and for mission workers who will serve as witnesses for the Orthodox faith to the ends of the earth.

Bevolkingsdaling: Limburg krimpt nu al

Meer ouderen, minder jongeren, en in totaal minder mensen: dat is vanaf 2035 het toekomstbeeld van Nederland, waarschuwen demografen. Dat zeggen ze al langer, maar onderhand begint hun boodschap door te dringen. Op sommige plekken zijn de gevolgen nu al zichtbaar.

Na de bevolkingsexplosie van de 20ste eeuw, krijgen we nu de 21ste eeuw van de structurele krimp, zo waarschuwden bestuurskundigen onlangs in het rapport ’Structurele bevolkingsdaling – Een urgente nieuwe invalshoek voor beleidsmakers’. Wereldwijd begint dat pas rond 2075, maar in Europa en ook in delen van ons land heeft de bevolkingsdaling inmiddels ingezet. Voor heel Nederland geldt 2035 als omslagpunt – of al eerder als de immigratie sneller dan verwacht afneemt.

Een van de regio’s die al veel ervaring hebben met de ontvolking is Zuid-Limburg, na de Randstad ooit het dichtstbevolkte gebied van Nederland. Tienduizenden arbeiders van elders vonden werk in de staatsmijnen. Maar sinds de sluiting van de mijnen in de jaren zestig en zeventig loopt de regio rond Heerlen en Kerkrade leeg. Het vruchtbaarheidscijfer ligt er met 1,5 nog lager dan het landelijk gemiddelde van 1,7 kind per vrouw en er trekken meer mensen weg dan er komen. In tien jaar is de bevolking met een tiende teruggelopen.

In verschillende regio’s daalt het aantal inwoners, maar het rijksbeleid is nog volledig gericht op groei. Dat hindert gebieden die een krimpende bevolking kennen in hun ontwikkeling.

Dit geluid is te horen in Parkstad Limburg, het regionaal samenwerkingsverband van zeven Limburgse gemeenten waar het aantal inwoners al sinds 1997 afneemt. ‘Geef ons maar sloop- in plaats van bouwpremies’, zegt Antoine Gresel, voorzitter van Parkstad Limburg en burgemeester van Heerlen. Als voorbeeld noemt Gresel de eengezinswoningen aan de rand van de steden in de Limburgse regio die door de vergrijzing en ontvolking moeten wijken voor seniorenwoningen in de stadscentra. ‘Alleen dan kunnen we het voorzieningenniveau voor ouderen in stand houden.’

De provincie Limburg, waar krimp het meest actueel is, schaart zich achter de oproep aan het rijk om met de bevolkingsdaling rekening te houden.

De prijzen van woningen staan ernstig onder druk. De gemeenten met de laagste gemiddelde woningwaarde waren Reiderland met 133 duizend euro en Heerlen met 135 duizend euro.

De ontwikkeling van de bevolking speelt een grote rol. In Limburg wordt een daling van de bevolking verwacht van gemiddeld 5000 personen voor de komende 30 jaar. Verder vraagt de oprukkende vergrijzing om andere woningtypen. Vertrekken er meer mensen dan er binnenkomen of juist andersom?

Onderstaande woning stond in Geleen in juni 2008 te koop voor € 209.000,-. In februari is de vraagprijs verlaagd tot € 199.000,-,maar dat bleek geen soulaas te bieden. In juni 2009 is de woning nog niet verkocht en is de vraagprijs gedaald tot € 179.500,-. Op 16 augustus 2009 is de vraagprijs nogmaals verlaagd: € 164.500,- maar op 24 augustus weer verhoogd tot € 179.500,-. Op 1 september 2009 werd de woning niet meer te koop aangeboden.

Net als in de afgelopen decennia, zal de bevolkingsgroei in de nabije toekomst aanzienlijk verschillen per regio en gemeente. Wel zal de bevolking in steeds meer gemeenten afnemen (zie kaart 1). Van de huidige 467 gemeenten zal maar liefst 55% (259 gemeenten) te maken krijgen met een (verdere) bevolkingsafname. De grootste absolute afname zal optreden in Heerlen, Kerkrade en Sittard-Geleen. Heerlen zal in 2025 bijna 16.000 inwoners minder tellen dan in 2005.

OCMC Board Gathers for its Annual Spring Meeting in St. Augustine, FLOCMC Communications (5/21/2009)

St. Augustine, FL – The OCMC Board of Directors gathered at the Renaissance Resort at the World Golf Village on May 19 and 20 for their annual Spring Board Meeting. The occasion for this meeting, however, was of tremendous significance, as it immediately preceded the dedication of the new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building.

On the evening of May 19, OCMC Board President Clifford Argue and OCMC Executive Director Fr. Martin Ritsi updated the board on the progress of OCMC’s current strategic plan and emerging mission fields in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Former Board members Bob Gremley and Dr. Spero Kinnas were also recognized for their contributions to the organization over the years.

As chairperson of the new building Dedication Committee, Helen Nicozisis reported that preparations for the dedication event had been completed. She offered sincere thanks to her fellow committee members, Board Members, and staff for their tireless efforts in welcoming the many hierarchs and guests from around the world who would share in the joy of the new building’s completion.

On the morning of the 20th, the Board received presentations from two of the Mission Center’s longest serving Missionary families, Nathan and Gabriela Hoppe and Floyd and Ancuta Frantz. They arrived from Albania and Romania to represent all OCMC missionaries and missionary candidates during the dedication events.

Nathan shared that two of his former students at the seminary in Tirana, Albania have been elevated to serve as bishops. He also reported that the summer youth camps he and his wife Gabriela coordinate in Kosovo are enjoying increasing popularity. These camps are a ministry of love to children who suffered terribly during the war. These camps are part of the humanitarian and philanthropic work of the church and not religious in nature.

Floyd reminded the board that alcoholism remains a significant issue in Romania and that the St. Dimitrie program that he directs has intervened in the lives of thousands of people who struggle with this debilitating disease. He also shared that the Protection of the Theotokos Day Center, which is directed by his wife Ancuta, maintains its wonderful record in preventing child abandonment by offering unwed mothers daycare, counseling, and employment services. Following his talk, Floyd presented the Board with a hand painted icon from the Church in Romania.

The OCMC staff was also given the opportunity to introduce themselves and offer presentations that detailed many of the Mission Center’s programs. The staff was honored to meet the Board they serve.

An afternoon session led by OCMC Board Treasurer Bill Birchfield revealed that, in spite of a difficult economic climate, support for the work of missions continues to grow among the Orthodox faithful of North America. Although the faithful remain supportive of the work of missions, the need for continuing support was stressed.

The Board also welcomed its two newest members, former Missionary to Albania and Professor of Missions at Holy Cross Seminary, Fr. Luke Veronis, and Dn. Andrew Rubis of the Albanian Orthodox Diocese of America.

As the annual Spring Board Meeting drew to a close, events for the dedication of the new building began – an occasion that represented an answer to prayer shared by all the Board Members, staff, and Missionaries who were in attendance.

The official opening of the Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Mission Training Center in St. Augustine, Florida was held this morning. Currently we are at the special Luncheon celebrating this extraordinary event which celebrates the erecting of the first official center for a SCOBA Agency. Representatives of all of the Orthodox Jurisdictions were present as well as representatives of all SCOBA Agencies to witness this glorious event and show solidarity in the aim of SCOBA to share the Gospel of Christ.

The morning began once again with a downpour but this did not wash out the positive spirit of those who came to St. Augustine. In the holy presence of His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios as well as other hierarchs and priests, the Board of Directors of OCMC and hundreds of supporters began the day with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. From there all present traveled in the pouring down rain to the OCMC headquarters. You might even be able to pick up the sound of the rain in this recording.

I must confess to you that on my way to the Divine Liturgy I got lost and found another member of the Board of OCMC who also had lost her way, since most of the roads leading to the church had been washed out by the rain and the police were detouring everyone. It was at this point that I decided to go directly to the training center. Much to my joy I met Helen Nicozisis, the former Chairman of the Board and the Capital Campaign at the center who gave me a personal tour of the new center prior to everyone arriving. The new building is approximately 12,000 square feet and two stories tall with a reflecting pool. The blessing of the waters service was chanted with the faithful singing the responses. The prayers read by the Hierarchs and priests were so moving that some people were brought to tears. For some, the goal of having a mission center has been a life-long endeavor now realized.

You can also hear two talks given by the honorees which were very moving’ recalling their time together in Greece when they were students and their statements of how important missions are for our Church. Vandaag, precies 1 jaar geleden, moest de brandweer uitrukken naar Salesianenstraat in Tilburg. De bewoner was 5 dagen weg geweest en bij thuiskomst bleek de flat ernstig onder water te staan.

St. Augustine, FL – Several hundred Orthodox Christian faithful from throughout the country and as far away as Albania and Romania will be in St. Augustine this week for the dedication of the new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administrative Building of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC).

This new facility will serve as the international missions headquarters for North America’s estimated 1.5 million Orthodox Christians. Events begin with an evening banquet Wednesday, May 20, and continue on Thursday with a Divine Liturgy service at 7:30 a.m. The actual Dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, to be followed by a luncheon.

Both His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, and His Eminence Demetrios, Archbishop and Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Chairman of SCOBA, together with other hierarchs of SCOBA, will be at the dedication to celebrate this historical moment in Orthodox missions and cooperation, and to lead the gathered Faithful in praying for the continuation of this vital work of the Church.

Also participating are current and former OCMC missionaries who are serving or have served in various worldwide locations; mission team volunteers; members of the OCMC board of directors; benefactors; staff; and other Orthodox clergy and laity.

Coverage of this historic event, including photos, interviews, and a live blog, will be provided by Fr. Chris Metropoulos of Orthodox Christian Network (OCN).

In response to Christ’s final command to “make disciples of all nations,” the OCMC is dedicated to helping the Church realize its missionary vision. It helps train new church leaders by supporting seven seminaries around the world, and it funds numerous ministry and philanthropic projects of the Church abroad. VAN BIBLIOTHECARIS TOT KNOWLEDGE MANAGER ?

Tijdens het zakenfestival in Almere in 2008 is Sjoerd geïnterviewd over de innovatieve opleiding Information Engineering in Almere.

De bibliotheekopleiding in Tilburg is in 1968 in de Fruinstraat in Tilburg van start gegaan als Bibliotheek en Documentatie Academie Tilburg (BDAT). Na 2 verhuizingen binnen Tilburg, is nu onderdak gevonden in Breda. Naast de huisvesting is ook de opleiding aan verandering onderhevig geweest. In de tweede helft van de jaren ’80 vonden dermate belangrijke ontwikkelingen plaats in het vakgebied dat de BDAT een andere naam en inhoud kreeg. De naam veranderde van ADI (academie voor documentaire informatieverzorging), in BDI (bibliotheek en documentaire informatievoorziening) en tenslotte in IDM (informatie-dienstverlening en -management).

Na een teruglopend studentenaantal in de tweede helft van de jaren ‘90 en zelfs een studentenstop werden de mogelijkheden voor de opleiding eens goed onderzocht. Uiteindelijk heeft dit geleid tot een doorstart van de opleiding aan de Hogeschool Brabant in Breda, als onderdeel van de Academie voor ICT en Management (AIM)

De informatiemaatschappij vaardigt zichzelf niet uit en bestaat nog niet. Internet heeft éénzelfde revolutie in de informatie en de informatieoverdracht ontketend als Gutenberg vroeger in de kennis en de kennisoverdracht. De kiezende en verkiesbare burger, de moderne mens in het bezit van een gefragmenteerde kennis, de bibliothecarissen, de documentalisten, kortom alle actoren van de maatschappij zijn betrokken bij de informatie, want ze zijn allen zowel producenten als consumenten.
Zal de informatie voor de maatschappij uiteindelijk uitmonden in de informatiemaatschappij?

De ontwikkeling van het Internet illustreert vele evoluties van de “informatiemaatschappij”. Toch blijft de sociale beheersing van de informatiestromen afhankelijk van de werking van de openbare overheid, van de structuren van syndicaten en verenigingen en van de strategieën van de ondernemingen. Hoe het potentieel van de elektronische netwerken valoriseren zonder de sociale marginalisatiefenomenen te verergeren? Kan de notie van bibliotheek, zowel in haar technische betekenis als in haar functie van sociale herverdeler, een metafoor en een model zijn om de uitdagingen van de onmiddellijke toekomst aan te pakken?

Of de plotse evolutie van het gebruik van papier voor catalogi en documenten naar het gebruik van de elektronica, met alle bewaringsproblemen dat dit met zich meebrengt.

Het “Knowledge Management”: hedendaagse modeterm voor een begrip dat tegelijkertijd wil verleiden en verkopen… Wat is het werkelijke doel van dit “kennisbeheer” en, vooral, hoe kan de informatieprofessional zich positioneren tegenover wat de laatste (r)evolutie in de informatiesector blijkt te zijn?
Hoe de dagelijkse werkelijkheid vatten, exploiteren en verdelen die even onbereikbaar, vluchtig en vertrouwelijk is als “wat er in het hoofd van de mensen omgaat”?

Het “Knowledge Management” (of het “beheer van de uitwisseling van ervaring”) kan en zal in een organisatie nooit worden toegepast volgens een gepreprogrammeerd systeem in de vorm van een software. Het zal eerder het resultaat zijn van een geheel van analyse- en ontwikkelingsmethoden die eventueel een beroep doen op elektronische middelen.

Voor elk proces van uitwisseling van ervaring identificeren wij de belangrijkste situaties en de instrumenten die vereist zijn om aan deze situaties het hoofd te bieden.

Als kennisbeheerder ziet de universiteitsbibliotheek haar functies evolueren in het licht van de ontwikkeling van de informatietechnologieën. Behalve de inhoud moet ook het proces van de informatieoverdracht beheerd worden en moet de technologie beheerst worden om te bepalen of, hoe en voor wie de informatie beschikbaar wordt gemaakt teneinde de belangen van de gebruikers zo goed mogelijk te dienen. De onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingsprojecten van de ULB-bibliotheken illustreren deze tendens.

Het vak van de bibliothecaris, documentalist, “informatieverstrekker” omvat méér dan collectiebeheer en acquisitie, het is een dynamische en interactieve taak, die alle media bestrijkt, een grondig doorzicht van IT en managementcapaciteiten vraagt.

International Ticer School

De International Ticer School is een onderdeel van de Universiteit van Tilburg. Ticer organiseert al cursussen sinds 1995 en staat internationaal bekend om haar hoge kwaliteit cursussen. Het bedrijf biedt één tot enkele keren per jaar een cursus aan. De cursussen duren één tot enkele dagen. Ze zijn gericht op een internationaal publiek en zijn daarom in het Engels. De doelgroep bestaat meestal uit hoger en middenmanagement van academische, research en hogeschoolbibliotheken, alhoewel ook af en toe cursussen voor andere doelgroepen worden georganiseerd. Sprekers zijn afkomstig uit de hele wereld.

Digitale bibliotheek: het
Funda van de bibliotheken

Wat is eigenlijk een digitale bibliotheek? Bij die wezenlijke vraag werd uitgebreid stilgestaan tijdens de eerste bijeenkomst van “de kritische vrienden” met de Projectgroep Bibliotheekinnovatie, op 31 juli in de OBA.
De gedachtewisseling leidde tot de conclusie dat “de digitale bibliotheek” voor het openbare bibliotheekwerk is wat Funda voor de makelaars is: een zeer gebruikersvriendelijke website, waarop het complete aanbod te zien is.

Lekkage

Vandaag, precies één jaar geleden: dinsdag 13 mei, stralend weer, bloemen op het balkon ’s middags nog wat water gegeven. Daarna met de Volvo weer eens voor een paar dagen vertrokken…..  Blijkt ’s zondags, bij terugkomst, de flat onder water te zijn gelopen en de brandweer nodig te zijn.

Helft vrouwen sekst liefst met slok op

De helft van de vrouwen is het liefst enigszins onder invloed van alcohol wanneer er gesekst wordt. Een op de twintig heeft zelfs nog nooit nuchter het bed met iemand gedeeld. Vrouwen blijken binnen de seksuele context zo gehecht aan alcohol vanwege de ongeremdheid die de drank met zich meebrengt. Drinken zij vooraf niet, dan zou onzekerheid over het lichaam een schaduw over de vrijpartij werpen. Zelfs wanneer met de eigen partner gevreeën wordt drinkt driekwart vooraf het liefst een of twee glazen wijn. Het gebrek aan zelfvertrouwen is voor veel vrouwen een groot probleem. “Het feit dat alcohol een integrale rol speelt in hun liefdesleven, toont aan dat vrouwen zoeken naar een boost voor hun zelfvertrouwen in de slaapkamer”, aldus de onderzoekster.

Uit het onderzoek bleek verder dat de gemiddelde vrouw met acht mannen het bed heeft gedeeld, waarvan met vijf dronken. 90 procent is van mening dat alcohol onlosmakelijk is verbonden met daten.

Vrouw met hoog EQ heeft beste seks

Met de juiste looks scoor je snel een man. Maar met het juiste stel hersens scoor je beter in bed. Vrouwen die gezegend zijn met een hoge emotionele intelligentie genieten meer tussen de lakens.

De helft van de singles heeft op vakantie seks met een nieuwe partner. Vooral vrouwen zijn wel in voor een vakantieliefde. De kans dat een vakantieliefde uitbloeit tot een serieuze relatie is klein. Vaak zijn het niet meer dan avontuurtjes met (gebonden) mannen of blijken de cultuurverschillen achteraf toch te groot. Ook lijkt op vakantie alles mooier en leuker, maar eenmaal thuis zijn de vlinders meestal snel verdwenen.

Studie bevestigt seksclichés

Seks wordt beter met de leeftijd: dat is nu ook bewezen door een nieuwe studie van de wereldwijd vermaarde Britse sexperte Tracey Cox. Maar 52 procent van de mannen boven de 40 ervaren dat dan toch bij voorkeur in een ander bed dan het echtelijke.

Cliché

Mevrouw Cox volgde tweeduizend volwassen mannen en vrouwen om te zien hoe seks evolueert met de leeftijd. En dat is al met al een positief verhaal dat grotendeels toogwijsheid en clichés bevestigt: minder maar wel beter. En dan vooral voor vrouwen.

85 % overweegt lesbisch avontuur
Opvallend: 85 procent van de vrouwen in de leeftijdscategorie tussen 20 en 30 jaar overweegt om het eens met een seksegenote te doen. Daar valt volgens de cijfers van Cox wat voor te zeggen, want ze berekende dat wanneer vrouwen met vrouwen slapen, ze in 76 procent van de gevallen klaarkomen. Als ze met een man slapen halen vrouwen daar nog geen 50 procent. Lesbische vrouwen scoorden in alle leeftijdscategorieën overigens het hoogst op de tevreden-met-je-seksleven-vraag.

Triootjes: dromen is niet per se doen
Triootjes staan altijd hoog in de fantasie-lijstjes, maar voor 9 op 10 mensen blijft het ook daarbij. Van die 10 procent die het toch doen, zijn de meesten jonger dan 25 jaar.

Locatie

Seks in de buitenlucht of op openbare plaatsen is een andere favoriet, en die wordt blijkbaar wel uitgeleefd. Tegen de 30 heeft zowat iedereen dat al eens gedaan volgens de studie. De top drie van locaties: in een park, op een strand en in de tuin.

En dan tikt het klokje ergens anders beter
Overspel blijkt iets te zijn van alle leeftijden, maar die drang controleren wordt blijkbaar een stuk moeilijker wanneer de veertig is gepasseerd. Dat het dus vooral de jeugd is die van partner naar partner fladdert, klopt dus volgens Cox niet.

52 procent van de mannen boven de veertig gaat vreemd, volgens de sexperte. De meeste mannen en vrouwen gaven ook aan dat vreemdgaan niet meteen iets te maken had met hoe gelukkig ze zich voelden in hun relatie.

De naakte cijfers
De naakte cijfers dan maar: tussen ons 18de en 29ste vrijen we gemiddeld 112 keer per jaar. Van 30 tot 39 jaar zakt dat naar 89 keer per jaar. Veertigplussers doen het gemiddeld 69 keer per jaar.

Maar – althans wat het vrouwelijk orgasme betreft – minder is ook beter. 90 procent van de vrouwen boven de dertig heeft regelmatig een orgasme tijdens een vrijpartij. Onder de dertig is dat 23 procent.

En dan is er nog dit: zowat alle vrouwen jonger dan 40 die toegang hebben tot internet surfen wel eens naar pornosites, maar amper 15 procent geeft dat toe.

Vrouwen seksen uit verveling

Uit verveling, om de lieve vrede te bewaren of om van hoofdpijn af te komen. Vrouwen hebben om de meest uiteenlopende redenen seks…
Dat concluderen de twee Amerikaanse wetenschappers van het boek ‘Why Women Have Sex’. De onderzoekers, van de Universiteit van Texas, deden onderzoek naar de redenen van duizend vrouwen om van bil te gaan. Daarbij kwamen de gekste antwoorden naar boven. Zo zei een vrouw seks te hebben met haar man zodat deze het vuilnis zet.

Lieve vrede
De onderzoekers interviewden 1000 vrouwen. Maar liefst 84 procent van de geïnterviewden gaf toe seks te hebben uit verveling of om de lieve vrede te bewaren. Een vrouw antwoordde: “Ik heb seks om maar iets te doen te hebben. Bovendien is het makkelijker dan ruzie maken.”

Aantrekkelijk
De onderzoekers concludeerden ook dat de meeste mannen de meeste vrouwen seksueel aantrekkelijk vinden. “Andersom voelen de meeste vrouwen zich juist niet aangetrokken tot de meeste mannen”, aldus schrijvers Meston en Buss.

Goed voorbereid de overgang in

Een slappere huid, opvliegers, vaginale droogheid, incontinentie, slechte nachtrust en botontkalking. Volgens Pauline Ottervanger en Wilma Smit, schrijfsters van het boek Menoblues, hoeft de overgang helemaal niet zo erg te zijn. “Het is de start van een nieuw begin”, zegt Ottenvanger lachend.

De overgang wordt geassocieerd met ouderdom en verval en misschien dat er daarom niet graag over gepraat wordt. Daar heeft Ans Markus (schilderes) geen last van: “Als ik een opvlieger heb tijdens een workshop voor een stel dames, geef ik aan waarom ik ineens knalrood word. Het is zo’n onzin om er geheimzinnig over te doen, laat staan je ervoor te schamen.”

Markus vindt de overgang soms zelfs gezellig: “Het leuke aan de overgang is dat je met een aantal vriendinnen van dezelfde leeftijd gelijktijdig allerlei kwaaltjes krijgt. De een wat meer dan de ander. Lekker even klagen tegen elkaar heeft ook wel wat en daarna is het weer over.”

Broek plassen

Ouderdom komt dus met gebreken, het gaat er alleen om hoe je daarmee omgaat. “Als je op reis gaat, bereid je je ook goed voor. Dan is de kans op succes het grootst. Zo is dat ook met de overgang. Als je weet wat er met je lichaam gebeurt, dan kunnen er soms hele makkelijke oplossingen worden gezocht voor lastige problemen”, drukt Smit ons op het hart.

Zo maakt zij zich druk over de televisiecommercial waarin ze het bij de incontinentiefabrikant heel normaal vinden dat vrouwen na hun vijftigste af en toe in hun broek plassen. “Dat is niet normaal”, zegt Ottenvanger fel, “het kan toch niet zo zijn dat vrouwen bijna hun hele leven met een luierachtig ding tussen hun benen moeten lopen? Als ze baby zijn, als ze ongesteld worden en dan ook nog eens als ze in de overgang zijn. Aan incontinentieproblemen valt vaak veel te doen. Maar dan moeten vrouwen er wel mee naar de dokter gaan.”

Consulent Overgang

65 % wil vaker vrijen

Seks: liever meer én beter? Mensen denken vaak dat het bij de buren beter is: ook het seksleven. Over het seksleven van anderen bestaan veel misverstanden. Zo zit het echt.

Seks

De meeste mensen (35 %) blijken één tot twee keer per week seks te hebben. Een kwart vrijt bijna dagelijks en vijf procent minstens één keer per dag. Eénvijfde haalt twee tot drie keer per maand en tien procent haalt vaak niet eens één keer per maand.

Tweederde is tevreden met zijn/haar seksleven en 14 % kan zelfs zijn geluk niet op en geeft aan dat ‘het niet beter’ kan.

Maar liefst 65 procent wil graag vaker seks. Voor 25 % mag dat elke dag zijn, 43 procent zou 3 tot 6 keer per week willen en nog eens 26 procent is blij met één tot twee keer per week.

Geen zin

Mannen willen vaker vrijen dan hun partners. Eénderde van de vrouwen geeft toe dat hun kerel meer aan seks wil doen dan zij. Bij 25 % van de gevallen wil de vrouw juist vaker tussen de lakens duiken.

Vermoeidheid, de kinderen en geen tijd zijn de belangrijkste redenen voor voruwen om geen seks te hebben. Bij mannen is dit hun gedaalde libido en stress op het werk.

Mannen zeggen twee keer zo vaak nee als ze geen zin hebben. Echter de meerderheid van de mensen geven gewoon toe aan de ‘zin’ van hun partner. 69 % van de vrouwen en 59 % van de mannen.

Ontspannen

Vrouwen gebruiken een vrij partij niet om te ontspannen. Ze moeten juist eerst relaxen willen ze zin krijgen. Eénderde van de vrouwen faket nog atlijd een orgasme. Ze doet dit meestal zodat hij zich goed voelt en zij er snel van af is .

Positie

Het meest favoriete standje blijft de missionarispositie, daarna komt ‘zij boven’ en op zijn hondjes. De gemiddelde vrijpartij duurt tussen de 10 en 30 minuten. 22 % doet er 30 tot 60 minuten over. Voorspel is voor slechts 41 % belangrlijk

Om hun seksleven op te leuken heeft 80 procent wel een sexy lingerie aangetrokken, 60 procent gebruikt een seksspeeltje en 50 procent keek naar porno. Elkaar vastbinden, blinddoeken of verkleden is opmerkelijk minder populair.

Orale seks

Orale seks is niet zo belangrijk voor vrouwen als wordt gedacht. Ze stellen het wel op prijs maar vinden andere dingen in bed even leuk. Bijna de helft vindt hem oraal bevredigen erg opwindend. Echter 40 % doet het voor hem en is er zelf niet zo dol op. 10 % heeft er zelfs een hekel aan.

Orgasme

De helft van de vrouwen krijgt altijd een orgasme tijdens seks. Bij de rest varieert het nogal van één keer in de drie keer of nooit.

Roermond – Gelre Residentie

De leeuw in het gemeentewapen van Roermond is de leeuw van Gelre. Sinds de 13e eeuw vormde het land rond Roermond, Opper Gelre, een belangrijk deel van Gelre. De lelie is waarschijnlijk ontleend aan het wapen van de familie Van Wachtendonck, tot welk geslacht Theodoricus, Voogd van Roermond in 1283, behoord zou hebben. Van hem is een zegelstempel bewaard, waarop de lelie voorkomt. Het oudste zegel van Roermond dateert uit 1250 en is in gebruik geweest tot 1358.

Bisschop Boermans

Franciscus Antonius Boermans (Venlo, 15 december 1815 – Weert, 3 februari 1900) was de zestiende bisschop van Roermond (1886-1900). Zijn wapenspreuk was: In fide fides (trouw in het geloof).

Franciscus Boermans werd op 22 december 1838 in Luik tot priester gewijd. Tot 1840 was hij kapelaan te Roermond (parochie St. Christoffel). In 1840 werd hij secretaris van bisschop Paredis. Van 1859 tot 1886 was hij kanunnik aan het kathedraal kapittel, vanaf 1877 proost. Vanaf 1863 was hij deken van Weert en vanaf 1877 deken van Roermond. Op 5 mei 1885 benoemde paus Leo XIII hem coadjutor van mgr. Paredis en titulair bisschop van Termopolis. In hetzelfde jaar, op 30 juni, ontving hij zijn bisschopswijding in de kathedraal te Roermond. In 1886 volgde hij mgr. Paredis op als zestiende bisschop van Roermond. In 1888 werd hij assistent-bisschop benoemd bij de pauselijke troon en Romeins graaf.
