Admito, sou um cara teimoso. Todas as críticas relativas a este filme eram negativas. Todo mundo falou mal! Mas sou teimoso e gosto do estilo. Por isso, lá fui heu assistir mais um filme ruim.

Uma jovem começa a ter visões e pesadelos, e descobre que está sendo assombrada por um dibbuk, uma entidade maligna do ocultismo judaico.

A história é fraca e confusa. E achei todos os sustos forçados.

Uma das poucas coisas boas de “Alma Perdida” é sua protagonista, Odette Yustman, que além de ser bonitinha, funciona para o que o papel pede. Só é uma pena que ela não tira a roupa, apenas fica de roupa de baixo…

E sim, Gary Oldman está no elenco, mas num papel menor, e não consegue salvar o filme.

Enfim, desnecessário.

Riecco i Weezer con le loro video-parodie hanno già segnato la nostra esperienza visiva ai tempi di “Buddy Holly” (videoclip ispirato ai telefilm della serie Happy Days) e con Keep Fishin’ (lì c’erano i Muppets), per non parlare di Pork & Beans che si ispirava ad alcuni video virali di Youtube.

Oggi teorizzano e rappresentano “Weezerville” (atmosfera anni 50 ispirata al film Pleasantville), una cittadina popolata solo da cloni dei componenti dei Weezer che vivono in perfetta armonia.

Finchè non arriva Odette Yustman (già attrice in Cloverfield) e la faccenda si complica…:)

The Unborn opens with a dream sequence that includes a dog wearing a mask. And yes, the rest of the movie is just as funny. In fact, if you go into the movie expecting a comedy you’ll come out extremely satisfied. Just don’t expect anything resembling a competent horror film.

Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) wakes from the nightmare that also featured a creepy little boy and a fetus in a jar, but the visions continue into her daily life. Her eyes are changing color, the neighbor kid assaults her and mumbles strange warnings about Gumby, something’s knocking from behind her bathroom mirror, and there are bugs everywhere. And what about her mother’s suicide several years earlier? And is she a twin? What can it all mean?

Nazis. Obviously. It seems an evil was born in the bowels of Auschwitz, or not born as the case may be, and now it wants to born again. Or something. There are spirits that for one reason or another are barred from entering heaven, so instead they wander the nether regions between here and there waiting for an opportunity to re-enter our world. The best doorways for this are twins, because what are twins but the ultimate mirror! Just another reason why twins freak me out.

Helping Casey make sense of it all are her best friend Romy (Meagan Good), her boyfriend Mark (Cam Gigandet), an old Jewish woman named Sofi (Jane Alexander), and the friendly Rabbi Sendak (Gary Oldman). Good actually has some of the only intentionally funny lines in the movie, including one where she tells the four year-old neighbor Matty (Atticus Shaffer) to fuck off after hitting him with her car. Oldman’s presence can only be explained by his friendship with writer/director David Goyer, who wrote Batman Begins and has a story credit on The Dark Knight. Oldman’s role is a supporting one at best, and even he can’t make some of Goyer’s terrible dialogue sound believable.

The most important element of a horror film comes down to the scares. They can be jump-type scares or even a creeping feeling of dread, as long as it’s something to make the audience feel uneasy, to make the heart race, the fingers clench… but The Unborn has none of that. (Although Yustman’s shower and underwear scenes definitely make the blood flow.) Nothing in the film is allowed to be organically frightening. The scares are manufactured and forced by way of quick edits. Some of the visual effects can be pretty creepy, the old man crawling on all fours in particular, but those scenes are extremely rare. For the most part we’re stuck with flash cuts that zoom in on screaming faces, ”spooky” images inter-cut with normal scenes, and the little kid popping out of medicine cabinets. Oh, and a dog with an upside-down head. The showing I attended last night was to a packed house, and there was more laughter during the movie than during any two Judd Apatow films.

Goyer gets credit for making an “original” horror film instead of just another remake, and for trying to imbue his story with some historical background, but he proceeds to lose it all (and then some) with ridiculous dialogue and some unanswered inconsistencies. **Possible spoiler! ** The spirit is trying to regain entry into this world by taking possession of an existing body, right? So first it’s able to successfully reanimate a dead boy, then it possesses a kid in the womb, the neighbor kid, an old man, and a few others… so what’s the problem? Why all the fuss about twins and babies and Casey when clearly the spirit is already able to take over whomever it wants? And why did it wait fifty years before returning? And why’d the baby across the street die?

Bottom line, there’s nothing new or interesting here. Scary kids? Been done a million times before, usually better. Ditto the nightmares, the exorcism, etc. It’s perhaps a bit harsh to wish that Goyer had been aborted, so I’ll settle for him being banished from film-making. Sure, the Blade trilogy is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I’ll accept that Goyer had some input into the two recent Batman films, but that’s really it. The Invisible? Jumper? Nick Fury: Agent of Shield? He belongs in the direct to DVD world, yet somehow has crossed over into the land of big-budgets and theatrical releases. Perhaps an exorcism is in order…

The Upside: Yustman in her underwear not once but twice in the first thirty minutes; practical effects were cool.

The Downside: Incredibly stupid; explains so much but still leaves huge gaps of logic; screenplay is both terrible and unintentionally hilarious.

Aujourd’hui je vous propose le test du blu-ray de Vendredi 13 ! Et bien on peut dire que Paramount nous a offert un trés bon blu-ray coté images et son rien à redire.

L’image est vraiment belle c’est sur que ce n’est pas aussi magnifique que celle de watchmen par exemple mais bon la on parle d’un film d’horreur basique quant même. Niveau sonore je vous conseil la piste anglaise ( avec sous titre si vous n’êtes pas anglophone) car le Dolby trueHD est vraiment trés bien répartie sur les enceintes et vous ferait presque plus sursauter que l’image gore de l’écran^^.

Par contre niveau bonus ce n’est pas vraiment folichon on a droit à un documentaire d’environ 11 minutes sur la renaissance de jason, un autre où l’on voie divert participants du films qui dise que jason est génial, qu’il est le plus beau… vous aurez comprit encore un documentaire promotionnel et quelques scénes coupés. Donc vraiment rien de bien intérressant niveau bonus

Donc si vous êtes un gros fan de jason, que vous aimez les belles images et que les bonus des films ne vous intérresse, ce Blu-ray est fait pour vous sinon passez votre chemin

Ma note pour ce Blu-ray est d’un 4/6

BOTTOM LINE: Despite a highly effective premise for a horror film, “The Unborn” is silly, badly acted, poorly executed and just not that scary.

THE GOOD: The best horror films tend to have a premise that really gets under your skin and be truly terrifying and “The Unborn” manages to have such a premise. An evil spirit wants to be born in to our world and needs the use of a suitable human host to do it. In this case, it turns out a twin is the most suitable. Teenager Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) is having nightmares about a creepy looking boy who keeps following her around. After suffering some physical effects from these nightmares, she discovers that she is in fact a twin, but her brother died in the womb before she was born. As the nightmares intensify, she discovers that an evil spirit is using the unborn twin as a vessel to come in to the human world. The premise is highly effective and potentially lends itself to some creepy moments, some of which do appear in this film, however conventional they turn out to be. Odette Yustman is an attractive lead, although not that outstanding, and Gary Oldman’s presence manages to lift the proceedings a little bit.

THE BAD: As a piece of horror, this film has no scares and no atmosphere. Only the premise will make you feel scared. From the opening sequence, things become very silly indeed with the dog wearing a mask leading Casey to a demon baby buried in the ground. Each time a scare occurs, there is no atmosphere of dread or doom, and the exorcist-style head twists and nasty-looking faces are more silly than anything else. Perhaps the worst part of all is that despite a good premise, the story sticks to conventions that have already been used; the finale for example is an exorcism, and one that is not that scary or original. Director David S. Goyer is known in Hollywood for being a good screenwriter, but directorially he leaves a lot to be desired here. Perhaps he should have handed his script over to a better director.

Con l’aiuto di Sendak, Casey scopre il responsabile della maledizione che tortura la sua famiglia dai tempi della Germania nazista – una creatura capace di possedere qualunque cosa e qualunque persona e il cui potere aumenta con il crescere delle persone o delle cose che riesce a possedere. Esta señorita que de seguro para varios es una total desconocida, participo en la cinta de Cloverfield y un poco mas recientemente en la nada famosa The Unborn (donde nos estrego un poster bien cacheton). Asi que para variarle un poco, les traigo una galeria para que la conozcan mejor o para los que la conocen se den una buena orden de tocos de ojo.

This horror movie was so bad, I didn’t know whether to laugh or get angry after the final scene. Odette Yustman suddenly starts having nightmares about a boy who obviously wants something from her. It starts off that way but eventually, the evil that was once in her dreams begins to manifest itself in reality, affecting her relationships with her best friend (Meagan Good), her boyfriend (Cam Giganget) and her own sanity. I am not exactly sure how much I should give away because it tried to be about a lot of things but ultimately became about nothing. One minute the lead character was running around (literally–her jogging scenes felt like forever and a day) moping about her mother and the next she was asking people to give her an exorcism. The so-called twists did not make sense to me at all. While it did try to make homage to horror greats such as “The Exorcist” and “Rosemary’s Baby,” it felt contrived and there were definitely some parts where I thought it was merely stealing ideas instead of using such ideas as a template and taking the story to the next level. I did enjoy some creepy images but the suspense was simply not there. When the obligatory “jumpy” scenes arrived, they felt uninspired because it was all sharp film cuts and loud soundtrack to me. When I watch a horror picture, I want my heart to pound like mad and anticipate what’s going to happen next. With “The Unborn,” written and directed by David S. Goyer, I felt like each scene was a punishment I didn’t deserve. I think one of the main problems is the script. The dialogue absolutely killed me. I actually lost count how many times the lead character said, “I know this is going to sound crazy but…” I don’t know if that’s worse or cheesy lines like “I don’t think you’re crazy, I just think you’re hormonal.” I mean, come on. Hasn’t Goyer seen the “Scream” franchise? If you ask me, I think he’s asking to have a bad movie with that kind of writing. Obviously, I’m saying to skip this one because I’ve seen it all before. If you’re interested in a modern exorcism picture, rent the superior “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” instead. That one truly gave me the creeps.
