<p>What is offpage optimization?</p>
<p>Well, they are techniques you can use to help improve your Search Engine rankings but is done off your site. Which means it is done on other sites and not your own. Onpage requires you to do optimization on your own webpages, offpage requires you to do it off-site.</p>
<p>Ok, what does it all mean?</p>
<p>With Google, offpage optimization has became more important as they place a lot of emphasis and relevance on links. The simple lowdown for offpage optimization is LINKS. LINKS from other websites to yours or BACKLINKs or INBOUND LINKs. Links with anchor text(keywords) from other websites to yours. And seriously, that&#8217;s about it &#8211; getting others to link to you with the proper anchor text. LINKs are also important because they provide a way for the search engines bots to find your site.</p>
<p>The more links you have pointing to your site, the more important the search engines rate your site. Anchor text provides a way to rate the keywords for your site. And more links with anchor text to your site, the more important the Search Engine rate your site for those keywords. It&#8217;s as simple as that.</p>
<p>If you properly plan your offpage optimization and what a bit of luck, you can rank better in the Search Engines.</p>
<p>Firstly, you have to pay attention to :</p>
<p>1. How many sites are linking to you. More the merrier.</p>
<p>2. What kind of sites are they and whether their topics are related to yours (titles, keywords and so on).</p>
<p>3. The Anchor text used.</p>
<p>4. Trustrank and Pagerank of the sites linking to you (whether they are trusted by Search Engines or have been blacklisted)</p>
<p>Anchor text is the hyperlink text. It is usually used to tell the reader the subject matter of the page that it links to. Like a link here -   rel=nofollow SEO Articles, you can see that the anchor text here is SEO Articles, pointing to   rel=nofollow http://www.seochat.com and this is like<br />
telling the reader that the subject is SEO Articles and this site http://www.seochat.com has information related to it. So if someone searched for the words SEO Articles, this is helping the site   rel=nofollow http://www.seochat.com to rank for that term. So use this anchor text to your advantage by using keywords in them. Although it is not always possible to use keywords you want, you should not use &#8220;click here&#8221; as your anchor text.</p>
<p>Remember to optimize your internal pages as well. DO not try to link your main page with all your keywords. For example, if you have a site selling orchids(the flower) and one of your internal page is about flower delivery, is it better for you to optimize your main page for &#8220;flower delivery&#8221;? No, optimize your main page for the keyword &#8220;flower orchids&#8221; and your internal page for the words &#8220;flower delivery&#8221; or &#8220;orchid delivery&#8221;. This way, at least your site will rank for more terms and get better results for different searches. And not to mention, your onpage optimization would be more effective and easier without too many keywords on one page.</p>
<p>How do I go about doing it?</p>
<p>You should start off with a link building campaign. I will divide them into two major parts.</p>
<p>The first step is where you get links by direct posting.</p>
<p>1. Link exchanges &#8211; Link with other websites, preferably with related sites. They are two-way (they link to you and you link back) links. You can email webmasters and request a link exchange with the proper anchor text. Link exchanges can be very effective if done with sites of the same topics or subjects. But beware of who YOU link to. Linking to &#8220;bad&#8221; sites can get you into trouble with Search Engines and even get you delisted or banned.</p>
<p>2. Article submission &#8211; Submit articles you have written to article directories. Usually they have an author&#8217;s bio, where you can place your site&#8217;s URL in it with the appropriate anchor text. And not only that, writing articles can help improve your reputation in your field of interest as well. You know, your readers may think that you are an &#8220;expert&#8221; or something.</p>
<p>3. Directory Submission &#8211; Submit your site to various directories. There are free and paid directories. It would be advisable to submit your directories to free directories(especially DMOZ) and choose which paid directories you would like to submit to. It&#8217;s hard to say which paid directory is best, so use your common sense if you want to do paid inclusion. Please avoid link farms (directories with tons and tons of links in their categories and subcategories) because they don&#8217;t work to your advanatage and a lot of them have already been blacklisted or devalued by Search Engines.</p>
<p>4. Forum posting &#8211; Signatures allow you to place links and anchor text to your site. If you are posting in a forum related to your site( and with a lot of keywords), you can get better results in your rankings from these postings. However, do note that there are some forums which have the nofollow tag which tells Search Engines not to follow the link. This makes the link useless in SERPs.</p>
<p>5. Blogging &#8211; Nowadays everyone likes to leave comments in blogs. You can do it as well. And add your link with the comment. However remember not to spam blog sites, if you add a comment make sure that comment has something to do with the topic. It is also wise to post in blogs which you have some knowledge about.</p>
<p>6. Purchase links &#8211; Pay other webmasters to link to you. This method is a bit like a paid directory, just that the site isn&#8217;t a directory but could be a informative site or even a blog. You get a link or links with a proper anchor text. There have been reports that some Search Engine devalues such a technique, but it is difficult for Search Engines to know whether that link is a legitimate link or a purchased link. I would also recommend you to buy links directly from other websites than through a &#8220;links broker&#8221;. You can do this by directly contacting the webmaster and negotiating a price and where your link will be<br />
placed. The placement of your link is important as you don&#8217;t want your link to be in very page of the site. For your link to have maximum exposure, it would be best to be in the first page(or the main page) and to reduce the spammy effect, confine to 2 to 3 pages at the most. Avoid site-wide links if your own site has very few pages!</p>
<p>The next step would be link baiting and this step is very highly recommended because these links are natural. However all these link baiting are very much related to onpage optimization(what you do on your site).</p>
<p>1. Although this is considered onpage optimization but it would be appropriate to mention this again &#8211; content. The biggest and most effective offpage technique is related to your onpage optimizaton. Good, useful and keyword rich content. This way, you are &#8220;baiting&#8221; other webmasters to link to you. Some of them even provide you with a good anchor text as well. These are what is termed as &#8220;natural links&#8221; because others linked to you without you directly asking for a link and is very much encouraged by Search Engines.</p>
<p>2. Software/script &#8211; Writing a script or software which a lot of people use is a good way to generate links. If you look around forums or blogs or just normal sites, you can see people recommending this and that software or script. Some scripts like forum scripts have a small link back to their site with the appropriate anchor text included, just imagine, if a lot of users use those scripts, the amount of backlinks will be enormous! Do a Google search &#8220;link:www.phpbb.com&#8221; and see the amount of backlinks! Phpbb.com is the official site for the free Phpbb forum script. And if you provide the software or the script at no charge, the number of grateful users with the link back will surely help your site. Simply put, it generates links for you.</p>
<p>3. Tutorials/How-to articles &#8211; Very related to content. Write useful tutorials like those photoshop tutorials or howtos and this will encourage other web designers or webmasters to link to that. Having useful and unique content is one of the best way to get natural links and traffic. If it is useful to a webmaster&#8217;s visitors, he will surely want to tell his visitors about it.</p>
<p>4. Service/Knowledge Sharing &#8211; Yes, even if you don&#8217;t write good content or tutorials or articles, you can provide a valuable service to others. Like script installation, colour matching service for web designers, technical support for Operating Systems and so on. Something like sharing your knowledge or helping others with their problems can very well get you the links because it is useful to webmasters and useful for their visitors as well. You can see some of the most popular sites are actually sites which help others like those webmasters forum or those technical support groups. You can even be selling some unique product or service to the public and let it generate links for you. Unique, valuable and useful service is just as important as unique, valuable and useful content.</p>
<p>5. Freebies and contests can attract links from other sites as well. Who doesn&#8217;t want freebies or who doesn&#8217;t want to join a contest to get prizes? Everyone does and because it is such a good promotional tool, you can attract a lot of visitors(and links) from these contests even if it is for a short period.</p>
<p>What all this being said, it is important to note that links from high quality sites are better for rankings than links from low quality sites. A few links from reputable sites is worth more than a lot of links from unknown sites. So if you can, try getting links from these sites instead.</p>
<p>There are a lot of SEO experts who say that offpage optimization is more important than onpage optimization. While that is not completely wrong, it is very difficult (but not impossible) for a good offpage optimization to work without excellent content. And that is ultimately what is on your web pages.</p>

In SEO, there are the biggest factors as <a href="http://seoandwebdesignblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/07/on-page-factors-are-the-biggest-challenge-for-seos/">On-page optimization</a> and <a href="http://seoandwebdesignblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/22/off-page-factors-in-search-engine-optimization/">Off-page optimization</a>. We already have discussed about those chapters. I need to explain some more basic chapters of SEO which is being ignored by many SEOs.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I have to deal Server Side Factors and some general topic of SEO. In Server side factors, the main topics are – 301 and headers status code.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Many times we face the problem. There is main problem with page redirection which is known as 301 URL directions also. There are big question on this topic. It should be redirect or remove? What is the purpose of redirection? Is redirection will work?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Yes, all these are right questions. From my point of view removal of URL and redirection of URL both have own importance. We should choose those URL to remove which have no visitors and nothing importance from search engine point of view. On the other hand, a page which has high PR or high visitors should be redirected. Redirection is not the last things. There is need of webmaster submission also. There is Google webmaster where all the redirection should be submitted to make known Google crawler about the redirection.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Another thing is Server status code. You should monitor your page server status code. What is it? It is 200 errors or 404 errors? In both situations you have to work on those.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Many times we face large page size also which make pages very slow to browse. So, proper page size should not be exceeded from 110 KB.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">There are many browsers so; your page should be passed with each browser properly. All things should be appropriate in each browser.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Some other things are appropriate style sheet, appropriate templates and metadata should be checked, standard navigation, HTML and XML sitemaps and analytical code.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">So, all these are basic things of SEO which should be passed properly through SEOs. These are helpful in crawling and ranking.</p>

One more factor include in link building or off-page factor, that is – higher ranking from targeted keywords. It will be hard to optimize site using frames or framesets because search engines will not index pages containing frames, some browsers doesn’t support frames, visitors cannot bookmark pages from frames, it is hard to navigate through pages in frames and difficult to print content of all frames.</li>
<li>Do not link to sites that uses “nofollow” or “noindex” attributes because it has no value at all as they are telling search engine robots not to visit links listed.</li>

ซึ่งแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภทใหญ่ ๆ คือ On-Page Factor และ Off-Page Factor</p>
<p>On-Pages Factor คือ ทุกสิ่งที่ Search Engine สามารถมองเห็นจากเว็บไซต์ เช่น<br />
เนื้อหา หัวเรื่อง การเชื่อมโยง  เป็นต้น เหมือนกับที่มนุษย์สามารถมองเห็นได้จากโปรแกรม Text Browser<br />
ซึ่งในการทำ On-Page Factor ควรคำนึงถึงสิ่งต่าง ๆ ดังนี้</p>
<p>1. ที่ Title Tag ควรใส่คำที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเนื้อหาภายในหน้าเอกสารนั้น ๆ เช่น ถ้าเนื้อหาของหน้าเว็บนั้นเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับโลกร้อน ควรใช้ Title ว่า “โลกร้อน”<br />
2. ควรวางขอบเขตของเนื้อหาในเอกสารแต่ละหน้า เช่น ถ้าต้องการเขียนเรื่องข้อมูลภาพยนตร์ ก็ไม่ควรให้มีข้อมูลอื่น ๆ เช่น เล่นเกม ฟังเพลง ปนอยู่<br />
3. การสร้าง Links ควรเชื่อมโยงไปที่หน้าเอกสาร ที่เกี่ยวกับข้อความที่ปรากฎใน Links เช่น การทำ HyperLinks ที่ข้อความว่า “ภาพยนตร์” ก็ควร Links ไปในหน้าที่มีข้อมูลภาพยนตร์ ไม่ควร Link ไปในหน้าที่มีเนื้อหาอื่น ๆ เช่น เนื้อเพลง หรือ กลอน<br />
4. พยายามจัดกลุ่มของเนื้อหา และการเชื่อมโยงต่าง ๆ ให้สามารถเข้าถึงได้ง่าย<br />
5. พยายามตั้งชื่อไฟล์ให้สอดคล้องกับหัวข้อของเนื้อหาภายในหน้าเอกสาร</p>
<p>Off-Pages Factor คือ สิ่งต่าง ๆ ที่ Search Engine ไปพบเจอมา ไม่ใช่สิ่งที่ปรากฎอยู่ในหน้าเอกสารเว็บไซต์ ดังเช่น</p>
<p>* การทำ Sitemap<br />
* การเพิ่ม Link Popularity<br />
* การเพิ่มรายชื่อเว็บไซต์ใน Directory Listing<br />
* การทำ Social Networking</p>
<p>สรุป On-Page Factor คือ การ Optimisation เนื้อหาภายในหน้าเว็บให้มีความเหมาะสมกับการทำ SEO (หลาย ๆ คนบอกว่าเป็นปัจจัยภายใน) ส่วน Off-Page Factor คือ การ Optimisation สิ่งที่ไม่ใช่เนื้อหาของเว็บไซต์ (หลาย ๆ คนบอกว่าเป็นปัจจัยภายนอก) ซึ่งปัจจัยทั้งสองนี้มีความสำคัญทั้งคู่ ควรปรับแต่งให้เหมาะสมไปพร้อม ๆ กันครับ</p>

You will go to www.google.com and type “latest computer game” inside the search bar. Google then return you lists of website containing information about latest computer games, there will be many pages, distributed in several page according to their popularity and quality.  Here “latest computer game” is your targeted keyword and the process was natural (organic). We do optimize so that Google can show our page on the top of the search result or within 2 pages, because nobody has time to go so far while searching.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="color:#ff0000;">There are two types of optimization. </span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">1. On page.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">2. Off page.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>On page Optimization:</strong></span> This is a very important part of the business; our site must be optimized while starting off page. Here we will talk about basic things, no need to discuss bout on page so much but I’ll tell you some Ideas of mine.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#666699;"><strong>The URL must be appropriate:</strong></span> suppose your website is a computer game’s site and your URL(universal resource locator) is “www.onlinefishgalary.com”, tell me what do you think? Is this appropriate, your URL must be thematic.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#666699;"><strong>Broken link:</strong></span> There should not be any link broken error on you site while optimizing it. Suppose you are clicking on a link and it is showing “page cannot be displayed” when all other pages are OK. This is called “link broken”.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="color:#666699;">Keyword and content:</span></strong> You must use relevant keywords and contents on your pages. There is no need to repeat keyword more that 10-12 times on a page. You have maintained the theme. That is all.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#666699;"><strong>Fast loading:</strong></span> The site must be fast loading site, suppose you have used a very attractive flash presentation on the home page and it is taking long time to load, that will not be a good site to your Search Engine.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="color:#ff0000;">Note:</span></strong> There are more advanced guidelines available on “on page optimization” but no need to know while studding basic things.</p>

Two main areas that all search engines will take into consideration when come to ranking your page:<br />
First is the content you have on your page and how relevant it is to what people are searching for online. Call these on-page factors. The good thing with these is that you can optimize them pretty easily&#8230; it&#8217;s simply a case of editing your website.</p>
<p>The second thing the search engines look at is how popular your site is on the internet. How many sites are linking to you? Do you have big, important sites linking to you? What text do they use in your link? These factors are called the off-page factors.</p>
<p>The off-page factors are more important than the on-page factors in determining your rankings, but on-page factors are still important. You&#8217;re unlikely to get to the #1 spot in Google purely because of your on-page factors, but they could mean the difference between being on page 5 or page 1, or being ranked 1st or 5th on page 1, so that&#8217;s still pretty important.<br />
Below are the 6 critically essential on-the-page search engine optimization factors:</p>
<p>#1: Include the keyword phrase that you are optimizing for in your &#60;title&#62; tags.<br />
&#60;title&#62;&#60;/title&#62; tags indicate the title of your webpage. Your title doesn&#8217;t actually appear in the main part of your page, but it does show up at the top of the browser window, and the clickable text that appears at the top of your search listing in the search engines. It&#8217;s really important that your &#60;title&#62; tags contain the keywords that you&#8217;re optimizing that particular page for. It gives the search engines a strong clue as to what your page is about.<br />
For example:<br />
If you have written an article about how to stop a dog from digging, then the title of the page could be: How to stop a dog from digging &#124; Stop Dog Digging.<br />
Note how I used the &#124; separator to add in some extra keywords: this is a nice, natural way of doing it.</p>
<p>Another example: This time for an article targeting the keywords: World of Warcraft Mining Guide. Simply make the title of the page World of Warcraft Mining Guide.<br />
I know this sounds very obvious, but if I had a dollar for every time I saw a page called &#8220;Page 1&#8243;, &#8220;Untitled Document&#8221;, or &#8220;New Page&#8221;&#8230;</p>
<p>#2: Include the keyword phrase that you are optimizing for in your &#60;h1&#62; tags.<br />
H1 tags are like headlines in a newspaper: The search engines read them first to find out what your page is about. If the spiders find your important keywords in your &#60;h1&#62; tags, your page will be seen as more relevant for that search term.<br />
Unfortunately many people don&#8217;t use H1 tags on their sites because the default styling of an H1 tag is rather big and ugly. In reality it&#8217;s very easy to style these tags with CSS so that they look good in your site AND capture the attention of the web spiders.</p>
<p>#3: Include the keyword phrase in your first 50 words (not counting header tags)<br />
Many search engines pay more attention to the first 50 words on your page than to the rest of your content, so make sure that you&#8217;ve included your keywords at least once within the first 50 words (not including your headings).</p>
<p>#4: Include your keyword phrase at least once every 100 words in the text of your page. (ie.Keyword density at least 1%).<br />
The days of appealing to the search engines by &#8220;keyword stuffing&#8221; your webpage are long gone, but you should still ensure that your keywords appear a few times in the course of your page. I recommend somewhere between a 1% and 4% keyword density. Don&#8217;t go any higher than this, or your site will look like a spam site to the search engines, and may be penalized. You can analyze the keyword density of a page in Traffic Travis, under the Page Analysis » Words &#38; Links tabs.</p>
<p>#5: Include your keywords in your internal links<br />
You might have heard of &#8220;Google bombing&#8221;, where many people link to a certain page using certain text and boost that page to the top of the search engines, even though that page might be on a completely different subject. This is because search engines use the words in your link text (otherwise known as &#8220;anchor text&#8221;) to figure out the nature of the page you&#8217;re linking to.<br />
This can be used to your advantage in your on-page SEO efforts, giving your pages a little boost for your keywords.</p>
<p>For instance, how many sites have you visited where you get back to the home page of the site by clicking a big &#8220;home&#8221; link? Quite a few, I bet. All these sites are missing out on some easy, free keyword optimization. They&#8217;re optimizing their home page for &#8220;home&#8221; when they should be optimizing it for their main keyword. You could change the &#8220;home&#8221; text to read &#8220;Dog training home&#8221;, &#8220;Pie recipes home&#8221;, thereby giving yourself a boost for &#8220;dog training&#8221; or &#8220;pie recipes&#8221;. If your keyword for a page is &#8220;stop cat scratching&#8221;, then link to it from your menu using the text &#8220;Stop Cat Scratching&#8221;, or &#8220;How to stop your cat scratching&#8221;.<br />
The same goes for all pages on your site. Don&#8217;t ever link to a page on your site using &#8220;Click here&#8221; unless you want to rank well for &#8220;click here&#8221;!</p>
<p>#6: Use good, original content on your site<br />
The search engines don&#8217;t want to display twenty sites with the same content. It doesn&#8217;t provide a good experience for their users. So you&#8217;ll find that many search engines have what we call &#8220;duplicate content penalties&#8221; for sites that seem to be displaying content very similar to content on another website. They&#8217;re not really penalties as such&#8230; your whole site isn&#8217;t going to be banished to a dark corner&#8230; your page just won&#8217;t rank very highly in the search results.<br />
So what do you do if your content is the same as someone else&#8217;s? This happens quite often, particularly if you&#8217;re using content from private label rights (PLR) articles, where hundreds of other people might be doing the same thing. The trick is to reword the article to make it unique. Shuffle the paragraphs, use synonyms, and try to change the article at least 25%, and preferably 50% to be on the safe side.</p>
<p>The other option, of course, is to write your own content or get it written for you. Try to get the best quality content that you can for your site, because the search engines will also pay attention to how long people spend reading your site: The longer they stay, the more relevant your site looks. If they &#8220;bounce&#8221; away immediately, the search engines might think that your site isn&#8217;t a very good fit.</p>
