A comienzos del presente año Gmail nos sorprendio con la implementación del modo offline, permitiendo a sus usuarios leer y escribir correos sin la necesidad de estar conectados a internet. Pero,  a este  servicio le faltaba una funcionalidad, que luego de ocho meses sale a la luz.

Estoy hablando de la posibilidad de adjuntar ficheros de modo offline, aunque no es oficial ya se puede encontrar en el directorio labs de gmail.

‘Taste of Darkness’ exhibition in Frankfurt’s Dialog Museum was an unique experience. By introducing me to the world of blindness, it opened my mind to other sensations.

Stepping into the darkness was intimidating, overwhelming and dangerous experience. The brain switched to the alert mode, sharpening other senses to the limit. Out of my comfort zone of the world I know, I found myself feeling panicky and anxious. However, I had the other senses to guide me: hearing, taste, smell & touch. It made me realize that more grown up I become, more I explore the world with my eyes only. Unlike a little child, who wants to touch and sample everything within the arm-reach distance.

The exhibition was exciting and fascinating. My favourite part was when we were asked to lay down on the floor and enjoy the music. It was amazing how I could feel the bits tickling my feet, experiencing the music as a sort of a sensation going through the body, awakening the muscles and nerves.
In other ‘room’, I could even touch emotions, like friendship, anxiety and loneliness; curved in wooden blocks. Even Pepsi got sophisticated palate, pleasing the taste buds on my tongue…

I think that the communication between people should be inspired by the ‘Taste of Darkness’ experience as it shows that engaging message which stimulate all the senses, will be exciting and memorable. That creating playful and interactive content will bring positive outcome, be the opportunity to learn and understand.

This 1,5h journey, however, left me wondering how the online world deprives people from other senses. How poor is the virtual reality as it merely depends on what we can see&watch.

Buổi offline tháng này không đông kín chỗ như tháng trước (vì lý do đáng tiếc là thông báo được public hơi sớm nên tới lúc tổ chức thì một số người… không nhớ ra) tuy nhiên cũng đã có khoảng 20 người tham dự và mọi người cũng được thấy những demo khá ấn tượng.

Như đã nêu trong thông báo mời tham dự, buổi offline này chủ yếu hướng tới chia sẻ các hiệu ứng đẹp mắt để áp dụng làm thiệp điện tử cho các dịp đặc biệt như giáng sinh, sinh nhật, valentine,…

Điểm qua các hiệu ứng được giới thiệu:

• SnowStorm (hiệu ứng bão tuyết) của mr Tiến (Bactien).

Điểm thú vị trong buổi off lần này là có thêm phần hướng dẫn sử dụng hiệu ứng ngay sau khi giới thiệu và demo luôn cách làm nên mọi người cũng rất hào hứng hỏi đáp và… tìm lỗi. Thậm chí ngoài người trình bày chính còn có thêm vài bạn trực tiếp lên sửa thêm vào source code để đáp ứng và giải đáp ngay những thắc mắc do chính mọi người đặt ra như: bạn Điệp (clip.vn) lên tham gia sửa hiệu ứng SnowStorm cùng Tiến, Duy (Joe Dalton) lên sửa hiệu ứng BlurWindow cùng Dũng, hoặc mr Dũng tự ngẫu hứng xếp ra 1 hình trái tim rực lửa khiến mấy bạn nữ phải trầm trồ (đã có 1 em đổ). Các bạn lên sửa code đều được tặng ngay 1 cuốn sổ do Adobe gửi về,  còn lại tất cả mọi người đều được tặng bút và sticker miễn phí cũng từ Adobe.

Xen giữa màn trình bày các hiệu ứng là phần giới thiệu về lớp học flash mới của HAFUG của Duy và phần trình bày rất tâm huyết của Ngọc Linh (Linhdoha) về kế hoạch tổ chức Flash Camp vào đầu năm sau – một event hứa hẹn nhiều thú vị và bổ ích. Rất mong tất cả mọi người (nhất là các thành viên trong HAFUG) cùng góp sức tổ chức thành công sự kiện này.

Nào ta cùng nghiêng

Idag tänkte jag tipsa om ett av dom program som jag tycker om allra mest – Last fm heter det och där har jag varit medlem sedan oktober 2007.

Last fm är ett himla fiffigt program. Man installerar det på sin dator, och sen håller den koll på all musik som man lyssnar på. Man kan även hålla koll på spelningar, göra blandband, titta på musikvideos, skriva i forum etc. med hjälp av sin medlemssida.

När man loggar in kommer det alltid upp rekommendationer på olika artister, videos och spelningar – och allt är uträknat efter vad du lyssnar på.

Programmet håller koll på alla musikprogram, såsom Windows Media Player, Spotify osv. Det krävs att man har internet för att all data ska lagras, men lyssnar man på musik offline så registrerar Last fm alla dom låtarna nästa gång du startar internet. En väldigt användbar uppfinning för oss som älskar musik!

Salah satu kelebihan dari blog wordpress adalah wordpress menyediakan engine blog yang bisa didownload dan diinstal pada komputer kita, sehingga kita bisa melakukan kegiatan blogging tanpa harus On Line. Banyak hal yang bisa kita lakukan dengan engine blog wordpress offline ini, diantaranya adalah: melakukan posting secara offline kemudian meng-uploadnya pada saat kita on line, membuat, mengedit dan menguji theme wordpress, dan lain-lain.

Fasilitas ini cocok bagi blogger yang tidak selalu on line atau tidak mempunyai sambungan internet unlimited karena hal ini akan menghemat bandwidth dan tentunya biaya kegiatan blogging yang dilakukan. Demikian pula bagi blogger yang masih mengandalkan warnet sebagai fasilitas bloggingnya.

Sebenarnya masih banyak kelebihan-kelebihan lain yang bisa didapatkan dari wordpress offline ini. Insya Allah nanti akan kami tuliskan pada posting-posting selanjutnya.
Okey, kembali ke laptop..

Ada 2 langkah yang akan kita lakukan untuk menginstal wordpress offline ini, yaitu:
1. instalasi XAMPP
2. instalasi WordPress

Instalasi XAMPP

Sebelum menginstal wordpress, kita siapkan dahulu aplikasi pendukung yang bertindak sebagai webserver. Kali ini, kita akan mencoba menggunakan XAMPP. Apabila anda belum mempunyai installer XAMPP, installernya bisa di download di sini.
Setelah installer XAMPP siap, kita jalankan installer XAMPP atau extract installer tersebut ke salah satu drive komputer kita, misalnya c:\xampp. Selanjutnya, jalankan XAMPP dengan cara men-double click xampp_start.exe.

Langkah selanjutnya adalah bukalah browser internet anda, misalnya IE atau Firefox atau browser yang lainnya. Kemudian, ketikkan http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php kemudian tekan enter, maka akan­­­­ muncul halaman localhost | phpMyAdmin.

Buat data base baru dengan mengisi kolom create new database dengan nama data base yang akan kita buat (misalnya: wordpress) kemudian klik tombol create.

Instalasi WordPress

Bagi yang belum mempunyai installer WordPress, instalernya bisa didownload di sini atau sini kemudian ekstrak installer tersebut dan copy-kan ke folder c:\xampp\htdocs\.

Agar proses instalasi lebih cepat dan sederhana, sebelum memulai instalasi, buatlah file wp-config.php dengan cara mengedit file wp-config-sampe.php dan menyimpannya dengan nama wp-config.php. File wp-config-sample.php terdapat pada folder c:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress.

Bukalah file tersebut menggunakan notepad, gantilah informasi database berikut ini:

Kemudian simpan file tersebut menjadi wp-config.php

Setelah langkah tersebut selesai, kita lanjutkan ke proses instalasi. Ketikkan http://localhost/wordpress/ pada address bar browser anda kemudian tekan enter. Isilah kolom Blog Title dan Your E-mail, klik Install WordPress. Setelah itu, kita akan diberikan Username dan Password yang digenerate oleh system. Catat username dan password-nya karena akan digunakan untuk log in. Selanjutnya, klik log in.

Pada halaman login, masukkan username dan password yang didapatkan pada halaman sebelumnya. Dan.. akan muncul Dashboard Blog WordPress lokal anda. Artinya, anda sudah berhasil menginstal wordpress pada komputer anda dan anda sudah bisa memulai kegiatan blogging offline anda.

Bookmark-lah Dashboard tersebut karena dashboard tersebut akan selalu anda gunakan untuk kegiatan blogging anda. Untuk melihat tampilan blog wordpress anda, anda bisa mengklik visit site pada panel dashboard bagian kiri atas.
Apabila anda ingin mengubah password log-in, Edit-lah profil anda dengan mengklik admin pada panel dashboard bagian kanan atas

Perlu diingat, setiap kali anda ingin menggunakan wordpress offline ini, terlebih dahulu, anda harus menjalankan local webserver yang telah kita instal diatas yaitu XAMPP.

Quirk gaat u tijdelijk even verlaten. Even off the air. Of beter gezegd: the cable. Ze moet namelijk even prioriteiten stellen. En die liggen even niet op het web. Even dan. Dat kost haar best veel moeite. Ze zit nu zelfs vol twijfels achter haar beeldscherm. Haar hand als door anti-zwaartekracht weggedrukt van de ‘publiceer’-knop. Is dit nu echt nodig? Maar ik kan toch gewoon… Quirk lijdt namelijk aan een ziekte.

Een ziekte die door haar briljant benoemd is als neurologgen. De neurotische aandrang elke dag te loggen. Of er nu iets te zeggen valt of niet (en meestal is dat niet). Dus dit experiment wordt voor haar best een uitdaging. Maar het gaat haar er niet om de ziekte te lijf te gaan. Daar wil ze namelijk helemaal niet van genezen. Waar ze wel van wil genezen is de stapel achterstallig werk die ze maar niet weggewerkt lijkt te krijgen. Dus vrees niet, lieve lezertjes. Quirk verlaat u niet omdat ze leukere dingen te doen heeft. Behalve morgen dan, want dan gaat ze naar Snoop Dogg. Ze verlaat u slechts omdat haar plicht roept. En ze enorm uitkijkt naar weer eens een avondje vrij zijn zonder schuldgevoel over dingen die ze eigenlijk nog zou moeten doen.

Als de plicht gedaan is zal zij spoedig wederkeren. Om u opnieuw te vervelen met onzinnige gedachtengangen, kasteelromannetjesfictie, muziekgewauwel en kleine observaties. Misschien over een maand, misschien over een morgen.

In de tussentijd: vergeet haar niet.
