And another update on my geek collection (in English, not sure how I wrote the last one..).

Well, my inlaws stopped by the other day with a box full of old Nintendo stuff. Amongst which, a brand-spankin’-new NES! Yes it was in plastic and all. So who cares if it were the Spanish edition I had a good time unwrapping it and setting it up. After some startup-issues, most likely related to the games I tried which had been sitting in a box for about 2 decades, it seems to be in great working order now. Here’s a photo report of my personal unpack-party:

.. all in all, it’s kinda amazing to think how much money I spent ‘back then’ on buying that stuff..

Subliminial_Kid ist schon seit Wochen begeistert. Inzwischen hat sich die Begeisterung auch auf mich übertragen. Nachdem ich gestern in sein Album “Butter” reingehört habe und fasziniert von seinen verschroben-elektronischen Beats bin, stundenlang den Sounds zuhören kann, für die man sich früher fredmschämte und dies wieder einmal die Musik ist, die neue Akzente setzt, auf die man inzwischen lange wartet, wurde mein Hörgenuss heute noch ein Level höher gehieft.

Denn hier (download) gibt es einen BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix des 22-jährigen, als “Aphex Twin des HipHop” angekündigten Produzenten.
Moderner Electric Funk (finde das passender als HipHop), Breaks, Oldskool und Gerades immer mit dem nötigen, gegensätzlichen Klangfetzen, so wie ein 15-jähriges Cosplay-Teenie auf dem Bett ihres/seines Gelesenkirchener-Barock-Kinderzimmers sitzend. Großartiger Mix.

Special Request is a paen to some of Britain’s favourite serial killers and a rock solid old school dancehall track to boot. When it came out there were rumours that this was a Chris Morris side project. There was also a story that Carlton Killawatt Valley was an unemployed plumber from Wolverhampton (or something like that).  Either way they’re on to a winner.

In the past I regularly played a set for DI.FM for the radioshow True To Trance. DJ’s like Ronski Speed, Graham Gold, Talla 2xlc and many more played regularly on this show. Under my DJ name Tim Worth I played a couple of shows there. This december set, broadcasted in 2005, is the absolute highlight of every set I played in that show. For some reason, everything came together. Quality tracks, a fantastic intro, a superb build-up and the mixing also went smoothly! I just had to share this with you. I’m a vivid fan of a good oldskool set. Being born in the eighties, I got my first housetape in 1992. Around this time Felix- Don’t You Want Me was a big hit in the clubs. I was only 10 years old back then, not even knowing what happened in the clubs ofcourse. But for some reason I still love the raw and unpolished sounds of the nineties house. Es war schon immer einer meiner Träume das Kunstwerk des Turntablism zu erlernen. Seit dem ich die Numark NS7 habe, ist das Scratching etwas völlig anderes. Da ich hier noch ein absoluter Anfänger bin, habe ich mir verschiedene Videos zum Scratching bei YouTube angeschaut.

Unter anderem bin ich auf diese Seite gelandet: Link. Diese Seite ist eine Art Tutorium für das Scratchen. Außer der Videos sind leider keine guten Beschreibungen oder Anleitungen enthalten. Zumindest fande ich das Video zum Transformer Scratch ganz gut. Damit bekommt man meiner Meinung nach ein ganz gutes Gefühl für das Scratching.

In folgenden Video zeige ich meine ersten Scratching-Grundlagen an der Numark NS7. Dabei versuche ich den Transformer Scratch.
