This Saturday! (5th) Holualoa Music and Light Festival

The coffee and art town of Holualoa kicks off the holiday season with its 13th annual Music and Light Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at all of the village shops and art galleries along Mamalahoa Highway.

The celebration begins with the lighting of the town Christmas tree at the Holualoa library at 6 p.m., followed by the appearance of Santa and his elf who will parade up the highway to the Holualoa Gallery where he will meet with keiki during the evening.

Candy canes and small gifts will be provided for youngsters by the Holualoa Village Association. Parents and ohana are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Holiday music will fill the air as performers, including Bernice and Manuel Roberto with their Kona Harp Ensemble, Mele Ohana, BoloMusic and Gregg Shirley and Olga play at the Kona Hotel and Holualoa Public Library. The wandering acapella vocals of Hibiscus Jam will be heard at many galleries and shops and Living Hope Church also will feature live Christmas carols for festival visitors.

All village businesses will be lit up and welcoming visitors with holiday sales and treats. The hungry will find food available from local restaurants. Living Hope Church also will be offering free hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn, along with face painting, games and a bounce house for the keiki.

There will be early bird parking at the Holualoa School and lot next to the library. No parking will be allowed in town during the event, which is produced by the Holualoa Village Association and sponsored by the Holualoa Inn and Kona Blue Sky Coffee.

ELS SIGNES DE PUNTUACIÓ

No reflecteixen pauses, sinó que serveixen per organitzar el ytext. Serveix per lligar-lo: hi cohesiona les d’idees.

(,) coma
(.) punt
(;) punt i coma
(:) dos punts
(…) punts suspensius

LA COMA
Utilitzem sempre la coma:
En les enumeracions per separar elements o frases. Posarem una coma després de cada terme excepte davant el darrer si va precedit de la conjunció” i “o “ni”.*

He anat al mercat i he comprat nous, avellanes i nyores.

No tinc temps, diners ni m’abelleix.

*Llista tancada: es pot utilitzar una coma, o la conjunció” i” o “ni”.
*Llista oberta: s’utilitza “…”, “etc.”
Però n’hi posarem, davant de l’últim element, o frase en cas que l’enumeració sigui complexa.

Van participar en la pràctica la Núria i en Pere, la Raquel, en Pau i l’Eva, i la Remei.

Els que estan situats a la dreta de la tarima parlen, els que són a davant, un grup molt reduït, escolten, i els que estan drets al darrere baden.
Únic cas per evitar ambigüitats.

Per anar de viatge cal preparar tot el que puguis necessitar, diners i ganes, i buscar una bona companyia.

Vocatius:quan crides els noms.

Ei, vine aquí!

En desplaçaments a la dreta de la frase. Per emfatitzar, per remarcar.

Que t’estiguis quiet, et dic. A anar al mercat, no m’hi ha pas obligat.

En les frases en què se suprimeix el verb per evitar la reiteració.

En Claudi farà el sopar i la Nur, les postres

Marcadors textuals. Així mateix, a més a més, de fet, d’una banda, en primer lloc, en resum, per tant, sens dubte, tot i això, tanmateix, etcètera.

No posarem coma:
Entre subjecte i verb, llevat que el subjecte sigui complex.

Entre verb i complement o atribut, llevat que es tracti d’una construcció complexa i no es pugui evitar:
Va dir, que havia de repassar Va dir que havia de repassar.

EL PUNT I COMA
El punt i coma és un signe de puntuació intermedi entre la coma i el punt. Se sol fer servir per aconseguir una major força expressiva, sense haver d’utilitzar la redacció tallada del punt ni la monotonia de la coma.
Escriurem punt i coma:
Entre els termes d’una enumeració que ja tenen comes o si l’enumeració és massa llarga. Davant de però o altres connectors que entre els elemens vam amb una coma.

Hi van comparèixer la Júlia Beteta, tresorera; l’Éder Viñas, secretària; la Meritxell Sampera, delegada, i en David Grueso, encarregat de manteniment.
Volíem fer els deures primer de tot; però, abans de començar, va venir i ens va trencar el ritme de treball.

EL PUNT
D’entre tots els signes de puntuació, el punt és el que indica una pausa més important. Recordem que després d’un punt cal començar en majúscula.
Escriurem punt:
Per marcar la pausa dins del discurs, tenim el punt i seguit per a oracions amb sentit complet relacionades entre si; el punt i a part per separar oracions que pertanyen a un tema diferent del que acabem d’exposar, i el punt final per indicar la fi d’un text, que no deixa de ser una variant del punt i a part.

Unes vacances sempre són unes vacances. No us les explicaré totes; tan sols el darrer viatge que he fet.

En coneixeu cap altre cas? Les abreviatures. Abans de les fraccions d’hora, per separar les hores dels minuts i, si també és el cas, els minuts dels segons. Per separar els números dels apartats i subapartats. En les datacions abreujades, per separar el dia, el mes i l’any. Per separar els milers, els milions, etc. En xifres que expressen quantitat.

ELS DOS PUNTS
Els dos punts indiquen una pausa més important que no pas la de la coma i se solen utilitzar per expressar la conseqüència, la causa, l’explicació, etc. de l’element anterior als dos punts.
Farem servir els dos punts:
Abans d’una enumeració d’elements.

Aniré al mercat i compraré el que he apuntat: llonganissa, olives i mantega.

Abans de les citacions textuals.

Em va mirar, amb ulls plorosos, i ho va confessar: se les havia acabades ell, les galetes.
Abans d’ampliar o de desenvolupar una idea, i també abans de les conclusions o causes, o abans de resumir el que s’ha dit.
Abans dels exemples .
En els documents administratius, després dels mots clau com: “EXPOSO:, DEMANO:, CERTIFICO:”.
També es fan servir per indicar el símbol de la divisió.
En els mapes i en algunes il•lustracions, també els trobem per indicar la proporció entre el nombre i l’escala (en aquest cas no cal deixar els espais abans i després dels dos punts).

ELS PUNTS SUSPENSIUS
Els punts suspensius estan formats per tres (i només tres) punts. S’escriuen just darrere de la paraula que acompanyen (sense deixar cap espai entremig), sense cap coma a davant i, si tanquen l’oració, no cal posar-hi punt final. Si treballem amb el processador de textos Word de Microsoft, pitjant la combinació de tecles Alt + Control + . ens sortirà el símbol dels punts suspensius (…); és recomanable fer servir aquesta opció abans que escriure tres punts.
Farem servir els punts suspensius:
Al final d’una enumeració per indicar que no és completa i que hi ha molts termes que s’hi podrien afegir. En aquesta funció són compatibles amb el mot etcètera (etc.), és a dir, fan la mateixa funció i, per aquest motiu, cal triar entre un element o l’altre, no es poden fer servir alhora.

Per indicar un pensament inacabat, per indicar dubte, sorpresa o por, entre claudàtors, per indicar que, en una citació, hi falta un fragment de text.

Aquest arròs encara és prou bo, però l’amanida…
ELS SIGNES D’ENTONACIÓ: INTERROGACIÓ I ADMIRACIÓ
Els signes d’interrogació i admiració s’escriuen al final de l’oració o de la part de l’oració a la qual fan referència, sense deixar cap espai amb l’última paraula, però sí amb la següent. No s’ha de posar mai punt darrere d’aquests signes perquè ja marquen el final d’una frase; en canvi, sí que hi posem coma o punt i coma si la frase continua.
Si l’oració interrogativa o exclamativa és llarga o si es vol marcar exactament on comença la pregunta o l’exclamació, llavors s’hi pot afegir un signe d’obertura (¿ ¡).
Em vols dir què ha passat? Ja n’estic farta!

En contacte amb punt: s’elimina el punt.
En contacte amb coma, dos punts o punt i coma: es mantenen, no hi ha cap canvi.
En contacte amb punts suspensius, es poden produir dos casos:

- Si l’oració és completa (el cas més habitual), el signe d’entonació va darrere:
Hola! Ja he arribat.

No primeiro show de sexta-feira, nosso garçom estava servindo e bebendo (mais bebia que servia), isso não ia dar certo…

Depois de um tempo cadê o garçom? Ele estava lá curtindo o show mais que a gente!!!

I worked in office to earn money for a DSLR camera. I owned Zenit 3M. We had some fun time together, but decided that it will be better for him to find new owner. I like lomography. I shot films with lomo fisheye and smena 8m. Now I have Holga and 3 undeveloped films. I enjoy taking pictures with camera phone, for me it’s a digital variation of lomography.”

Nu när jag visat att katterna är mysiga och sådär är det dags att ge bloggen en mening.
Olg hatar verkligen möss. Egentligen hatar hon mycket men just möss får henne på mord-humör.

Ja! Det röda på musens avsaknade ansikte är Olgas vrede.

Olga – she is my one ton, 12 X 18, New Series Chandler + Price letterpress gal. She’s my go-to gal, or will soon be. We are learning to work with each other and our rhythms. It’s mostly me learning to work with her, as she is a bit stronger than I .

Why the name Olga, you may ask? Why give an American-made machine from Cleveland, Ohio such a strong Eastern European name?

Well, she’s actually named after a walrus. Meet the late Olga. Olga was my favorite zoo animal at Brookfield Zoo. Upon her death, my parents actually woke me (I was 7, she passed in 1988 ) to tell me the bad news. I was crushed. I also had a very vivid dream as a child with a walrus swimming around my room, which I illustrated in college. That’s somewhere…hmmm.

I found my Olga, near the Brookfield area and it just seemed most fitting. I’ve always wanted my own walrus friend, and she will just have to be close enough.

Also, big news – I will attending the National Stationery Show this year. I love doing wholesale and hope to take it a step further. Of course, I am excited and nervous at the same time – I will write more about this later. Currently, I am sketching and designing as much as possible – paying close attention to colors, shapes, images, and staying ahead of the curve. I spent the entire weekend designing. Being in font of a computer all day kind of bums me out – - – but, on a side note, it’s fun having a computer science nerd in the house because he is usually picking apart and developing code all day in front of his machine. Cabin fever kicks in really hard for me when I do this all day. I usually drag the boy down with me and by the end of the day we just run back and forth distracting each other until we both give in to a walk. It has been fantastic autumn weather for a fall walk lately!

Today is an extremely busy day – so, I am off! Happy Monday.
