Hey my people, how have we been doing?  Me, I’ve been good just enjoying the new music that has been coming out in the past month.  I picked up that new Maxwell joint BlackSummers’night and let me tell you for someone whose been out of the game for over 10 years, he came back with a smash.  If you can’t get none when you put his CD on, you are a lame.  I mean he does all the work for you and more.  Maxwell sets the mood, makes’ em feel good about themselves and and gently lays them down in pure Ecstasy.  What left is for you to finish the job and lala-bye that ass.  For Maxwell new CD I give it a 9 out of a 10 and the only reason it’s not a 10 is because it only has 9 songs on it.  I think he’s trying to do a trilogy with Blacksummersnight and make it a 3 disc installment.  Sound good to me, but with his material in my opinion he didn’t need a gimmick, the material speaks for itself.

Some of you might remember a couple of months ago I mentioned a new Hip Hop Super group by the name of Slaughterhouse which consist of Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce da 5′9” and Joe Budden which released a mixtape called The Art of Slaughterhouse which is one of the top five mixtapes of 2009.  However, Slaughterhouse is definitely one of the top three album releases of 2009 hands down.  If you are a true Hip Hop head and want to hear some good sounds please check out their self debut album Slaughterhouse where they take it back to tic-4-tac and let off a barrage of lyrical ammo from from the likes of Desert Storm I.  These guys goes in and hard on every track and leave it right there on the track at the end.  Don’t be fooled, the beats are are hitting, the lyrics will leave you wanting more and the overall delivery will have you spewing out obscenity’s to your co-workers, I give them a 9 out of 10 for this one.  Don’t sleep, check’em out.

Hey my people, I was visiting my favorite blog (Bossip.com) today and I came across some footage that I didn’t even knew existed.  Here we have the Godfather of Soul introducing the then Young Prince of Pop, who then introduces the The Artist.  These three icons has shaped the last 50-60+ years of music and defined what an Entertainer should be.  It’s crazy to see how young they were and how much raw talent and energy they all were given out.  Like always, Michael was being Michael when he told James Brown to bring out Prince after he did he thing on the stage.  Always commanding the spotlight, but reflecting the shine to others.  Wow, is all I have to say to that.  When MJ starting singing, OMG that was the best it brought back so many thoughts.  That boy was talented, he was a mix of Marvin Gaye and James Brown, but do you know what had me rolling was when Prince was on dude back coming to the stage and threw his glove into the audience and someone threw it back.  Then, only in Prince nasty ass fashion took his jacket off and start doing his James Brown freak shit.  OMG, I damn near screamed because he was dead serious and you couldn’t tell him nothing.  Then at the end when he was walking off the stage he swung off the stage with the prop and damn near broke his neck and took someone’s head off in the crowd.  Classic material right here, LMAO.  Check it out.

Good Times

I know it’s been a while since I have sent ya’ll something to read about, but I go into a dark place during the NBA Playoffs, like when a bear goes to hibernate for the winter.  I don’t function to well during this 2-month period, things begin to get stacked up like when you’re on vacation and work gets behind.  I can’t focus.  I think I need help, are there any fellas out there that can vouch for me.  My girl says I ain’t worth a shit during this time of the year.  I have always been like this since 1985-86, nothing else mattered during the months of February to the end of June.  I had to include those months because of March Madness, the NCAA College championship.  I love college ball too, I think that was my first passion.  I fell in love with the 1990 UNLV Runnin Rebel’s.  OMG, I have to say that was the best collegian team to date.

OK, I’m not the type that goes and puts his favorite team jersey, hat, sweats, socks, coffee mug and draws on, I don’t like reppin’ like that.  I think that’s a little over board and being obsessed.  Plus I was taught a valuable lesson at an early age, these team will break your heart.  Like when the Lakers lost to the Bulls in Michael 1st championship and Magic’s last.  Damn, that was the worst time of my young life.  The end of Showtime and the beginning of the running bull.  I have to say I hated the Bulls for about 2 years after that, but you had to give it to Michael and the Bulls because they kept on winning, man and no one could stop them.  They made me a believer and I soon starting to like them as well, especial when Rodman came and finished off the 2nd 3-peat.  Admit it, people are drawn to winners, not losers.  And the Bulls were winning at an alarming rate, mashing on everybody body in the NBA.  It was a different league back then.  Back then they played ball, no like they really played ball.  All teams went hard and if you couldn’t hang, you got ran through.  Wasn’t no ticky-tac fouls and bad reff’in, the league now a days is soft as a cupcakes and it was formed and created to look pretty and for the players to be pretty.  You can’t touch anybody now, do you know Jordan took 7 years of getting his ass whipped by the Piston’s and Celtic’s before he got his 1st championship?

Uncertain Times, Damn

That was b-ball, my beloved game.  A man’s game, not taking anything away from football because we all know how that is.  You’d have to be crazy to play in the NFL with all those maniacs.  Now on to what I was suppose to be blogging about in the first place.  If you’re my friend on FB you already know how I feel about these playoffs, but I will give you the short version.  First, I’m a fan of basketball and Second, I’m a Lakers fan.  Boy, did they disappoint me in the second around against the Rockets.  OMG, I have never yelled at the TV before in my life, but they pissed me off so bad I almost gave up on the purple and gold.  They played like Mr. Softy ice cream in a couple of those loses.  Hell, the Rocket’s won 1 to many games in the first place.  And why didn’t they trade Luke Walton 3 years ago?  Please, someone help me on that. He’s going to be the death of me.  So now we got the Nugget’s, a team of thugs because of all the ink in the game.  Boy, isn’t it funny how people can stereotype another group because they are so different from them, but that’s another blog.  Well, anyway the Laker’s made it to the Western Conference Finals and they won the first game, something I might add, that they were suppose to do.  Last night was an upset when the Magic beat the Cav’s in the own court for their 3rd home court lose of the year.  Wow, is all I have to say about that because it was a great game.  Just like Kobe, LBJ can’t do it by himself.  None of his team mates showed up in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  Them boys need a life jacket because it’s going to be a long series in both conference finals.  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I love this game, LOL.  PEACE

Hey my peeps, I have been on my mixtape mission here lately and let me tell you, yall’s missing out.  If you are a ol’ school hip hop head, then what I’m about to show you will most definitely spark some type of curiosity.  If you been looking for some good hip hop and have not been able to find it, I just might be able to help you with that.  I really think I’m the mixtape king because that’s all I really mess with now-a-days.  For the most part, all of the mixtapes I have mentioned are free, yeah. Hey folks, I don’t know if you recall this or not, but about 5-6 months I did a piece on new Hip Hop heads to look out for and I named quite a few of them.  Well, one of my favorites just dropped his first official album after releasing at least 7 mixtapes in 2008.  Hence the name of the new album “This Ain’t No Mixtape”.  Let me be the first to say Da Hot Spitta may have made history on two levels with this album.

Let me explain,  first he went totally independent and put it out himself.  Not taking the conventional path and going with a big record label, this dude went independent and digital.  Creating a low over-head and pure profit from the digital sales of the album.  I’m pretty sure he’s going to get the 75-85% of the sale of his album.  Need I say whose is doing that in the big boy record companies of today.  Not many and just for name sake I think only Ca$h Money.   Secondly, is the price of the album.  Honestly, you know you are doing good business when the customer feels like they have gotten over on the seller.  I feel like I should be paying a lot more for this classic album, yes I said it, classic.  For $8.99 you get 17-18 classic songs, truth be told I only skipped 1 song and that was Scared of Monstas, didn’t care too much for that one.  Other than that it’s a masterpiece because Curren$y worked with what he had and presented to the public a good piece of material that easily would sale in Best Buy for $13.99.  I’m telling you don’t sleep on dude.

This Ain’t No Mixtape

Hey folks, there has been a lot going on in the entertainment media.  This Chris Brown and Rhianna situation is unfortunate for all parties involved.  The sad thing is how media, blogs and news outlets will hype you up one day, and the next destroy you as a person.  One day they love you, the next day you’re the most hated person in the world.  By no means am I justifying anything that happen, nor am I saying a man should put his hands on a woman.  However, realistically speaking, we are all humans and make mistakes.  That what humans do, we make mistakes and we learn from them especially when are young because we don’t know any better and that’s what young people do.  Hell, the mistakes I made as a young man, whew!  We won’t even go there.  I have always been one to give people the benefit of doubt, in a logical manner and I believe that there is only so much a person male/female can take.  Say for instance, I just said that a man should never put his hands on a woman for any reason at all.  Well, let me tell you this, being so most of all of us were raised to defend ourselves, it will be very hard not to defend yourself in the event that someone may be attacking you, you have to show that restraint and not le t them have it (I’m speaking of a woman acting like she’s a man and trying whoop a man’s ass).  You have to be damn near like MLK and turn the other cheek so they could knock the hell outta you.  I’m not saying this is what happen, but come one.  In the heat of the moment anything that may happen and will happen.

I can remember in junior high school and I was in Earth Science class in the 8th grade.  A male friend of mine and a female classmate were clowning on each other and I guess my buddy said the wrong thing to her and the next thing you know she was squared up doing the Sugar Ray on his ass.  I mean before I knew it, my man caught a 2 piece with a biscuit on the side.  I mean she gave that boy the ass whippin of his life, in front of the whole class and the coldest part about it is that he didn’t even fight her back.  I mean this dude didn’t even grab her and say the old “girl you better stop playing” thing.  Shit, I guess he couldn’t grab her cause she was moving like the hurricane on his butt.  I seen this dude like 3 years ago and it had been at least 16 years since that happen and the first thing I said to him was “Boy you got your ass whipped that faithful day in Earth Science class”, but in the back of my mind I really commended him for taking that ass whooping like he did, that was a sight to see because she wasn’t hitting hit ass with no girly shots, she was Roc-n-Sockin his ass and taking names later.  And all I remember is her slammin him over a table in the classroom and the whole class was like “Dammmmmmmmmn”. LMAO!!!!!!!!  OMG, that was one of the funniest moment in my life because afterwards when he came back from being suspended for taking an ass whippin, I asked him why didn’t he fight back or even trying to grab her.  Do you know this fool said “I don’t hit women and her hits didn’t hurt anyway”.  No, but the way your ass hit that floor from on top of that table shoulda felt real good.

I said that to say this. Men should never put there hands on a women, unless they are getting the shit kicked outta them….. OK, OK but for real always protect yourself no matter who it is.  I mean come one how far can you run from an ass whoppin?  In self-defence protect yourself and both of yall go to jail.  If you are the instigator and your thing is beating up on women, you are sorry excuse for a man.  Oh, shit that bring me to a time where I had to use restraint.  I have got to tell that story one day about me and a can of mace.  This shit will literally bring tears to your eyes.  One day, one day when I have moved on from it, LOL….it was some funny shit tho.

Hey ladies and gentlemen, how are your doing during post-xmas madness going on in our beloved country?  Well, let me tell you what I was thinking while standing in line to buy un-necessary things for undeserving children.  I was thinking of slappin’ the shit outta the people in front of me.  I won’t give any information as to what gender or race they were, let’s just say that’s sprung the name of the title post, see above.  I have come to a harsh reality that whatever we do in our lives, it will never be enough to satisfy the people.  In other words, you can’t make everyone like you or even make their tired asses happy.  In the words of Mr. Crazy ass “Katt William” (Pssss, Katt I hope your ass done came down off that shit you smoked) “If you only got 10 haters in your life right now, you should try and get 20 by the end of the summer” not in so many words, but you know what I’m saying.  People now-a-days are crazy, kids included.  With their ungrateful ass.  Whooooo, sometimes I just want to smack the shit outta some of these kids.  Oh, and yes I whip’s ass, I gets down on the floor,baby.  Let me tell you, spare the rod, spoil the child.  Not only are we spoiling the shit outta these little fuckers (Lord forgive me) we are letting them get away with hella shit we know we woulda got our ass beat for.   What happen to Big Mamma, Nana and Grand Daddy, ya’ll.  Remember Nana and Big Mamma use to get your ass with that ran down ass house slipper that hurt like hell, but looked she had been stopping cars with her house shoes on.  Remember switches (I know what you intelligent folks is thinking, too damn smart for your on good), not light switches on/off shits, you simple ass people, but tree switches that they told your ass to go pull of the tree in the front yard.  Yeaaaaaah, I know for a fact that I ain’t only smart ass that went pulled the smallest one of the tree, comes to find out that those little motherfucker hurts the most.

Well, anyway back to what I was saying, what happen to the good old days when people cared about other people, when nieghbohrs looked out for one another.

Hold, up wait a second.  This just in and I quote “Woman’s groups MIFFED at Obama” , see told ya’ll.  It ain’t never going to be enough.  Look this man ain’t even president yet and he got the 2 groups in America you don’t want mad at you,already mad at him.  The gays and the woman, hell looks like he’s black after all.  Oooooo, ok, ok that was a low below, but if I could one of these group to boycot my blog that would be the shit.  Keep’em reading, keep’em.  Boy, the next 4 years are going to be some shit.  These people have lost their damn minds, hell I bet a lot of them are still trying to wake to see of this shit is real.  Well, I’m here to tell ya, it’s real motherfuckers, but I don’t think it’s nothing to be bragging about.  Hell, with the amount of shit President Obama will have to go through, I don’t know if it will even be worth it.  It’s never enough, though.  His cabinet choice looks like a damn club scene in San Francisco and still people are finding things to be pissed about.  Ok, here’s ya’ll chance, just come out and say the shit.  You don’t like his ass because he’s black…..  What you say about my momma?  Say it, say it… you know you want to say it, chicken shit’s.  You don’t like him cause he’s black and a Muslim.  LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Simple minded dumb shits.  Peace!

Hey my peoples, how’s everyone doing.  I’m just coming back from a long week.  Went to L.A. last weekend and had a great time with my real folks.  I know, I been kickin it a little hard lately and that’s O.K. because no one is going to have fun for you.  You got to go, if you have the means to do so.  Do you know I know there are people who have never been outside of the county they live in right now.  Meaning, they have ventured out of the vicinity of their own home and that’s really sad.  Anyway, back to L.A., it was great and exciting.  Very different from The Bay, but it’s something I can’t quite put my finger on yet.  This was my 2nd time going there, the first time I was a senior in high and I went for a college trip to all the colleges of So-Cal.  So, it was chaperoned and planned out by the folks who took us, therefore meaning I couldn’t go site seeing and shit.  Which was pretty messed up being so, I did pretty much everything back in The Bay as a teenager.  You know like get into bars and clubs and all.  Anyhow, I had to abided by the rules and didn’t do nothing stupid and plus I didn’t want anything getting back to my mom, whoa that would have been bad.  I remember one time back in band camp….. Naw, just playing with cha to see if you are still awake.  For real tho, I remember one time I was about 14-15 years old and my moms have always been very strict, but not all that over-protective over me, my best friend and I went to the City, he was from the Genva Towers Projects, but he lived in the West side of Oakland at this time with me.  So, we went to go kick over there and all in the real projects, right with out my moms knowing where I was at.  Shit, let me tell you about the Towers, that was the most scariest shit I have every seen.  I have been in alot of non-desirable places in my younger years and I could because I didn’t start trouble, I stay to myself and check the seen out, you know kept to myself and I didn’t know back then, but I was living off other people prayers.  The Towers though was on some other level shit.  It reminded me of the projects in Chicago and New York.  People everywhere, crackheads, wino’s, gang bangers, dope dealers and kids all out just do their thing, whatever it my be.  To say the least, I didn’t feel comfortable at all.  Too much going on and to top it off someone my mom knew seen me and to this day I never knew who it was.  Well, I finally made it home safely and I was shook to the point I tried to act all bad around my folks, but I told myself I’m never going over there again (but you know I did).  The next day my moms said “What were you doing in the Genva Towers in the city” I bout shitted myself, but I played it cool because for some reason she knew when I was lying and I was the type of kids that if I knew I was wrong, I would admit to that shit and would get it over with really quick whether it was an ass whipping or punishment, plus she would know I was lying and that when I would get both.  Damn, she was cold with it.  Anyway, I lied and took my chances because that would have been an beating I would have remembered for a long time and I would have been on punishment for the whole summer (was not having that one).  Now that I think on it I knew she knew that I was over there, but for some reason she gave me a pass.  The coldest part of it all was that she never told me who snitched on me, til this day I don’t know who it was.  That just goes to show you you never know who knows you.  I think the reason she didn’t push it was I did hella good in school that year and she knew I was an outside kid, you know I would stay outside all day and night long and if didn’t have to come home I wouldn’t.  Shit for most of my summers in Jr and Sr. high school I stayed at my best freinds house all the time.  Well, right now I’m listening to RUN DMC Greatest hits and ol’school music have a way of taking me back to my childhood and I can remember everything at that point in time.  The funny thing is, I can keep writing about my childhood because it was good and bad, but that’s another blog.

Ok, OK so I’m sitting here thinking about certain things that are going on in my life and around the world right now, like man this shit is getting crazy. I guess you can say my thoughts are in sort of a precarious position. I see the future as a beautiful place where the next generation will take full advantage of all opportunities given to them and make some new opportunities along the way, but on the other hand I see the future in a very dim light, where there’s nothing bright about it. Pain and struggle will be the main course of the day. I wonder how did we get to this place. I want my kids to have every opportunity available to them to make something of themselves, but with the way things are going today, we just have to pray on it and wish for the best. It’s funny looking back now on my life, being a 70’s baby (being born in the 1970’s) and growing up in the 80’s when the shit hit the fan. Man, it was the best of time and the worst, as well. I wouldn’t change it for the world. Sure there are somethings I might have done differently, but for the most part I wouldn’t change a damn thing because that is what made me who I am today.

However, times have changed and it seems every generation gets more advanced (or stupid) than the last. Maybe it’s just the whole thing about growing up and being blessed to see another day. I can remember a song by Junior “Mama Use to say” it went something like this:

Take you time young man, mama use to say; Don’t you rush to get old, mama use to say, live your life, life your life.

Well, I must say that I did stick to my resolutions really, really well for at least 4 days or until the weekend came. However, I didn’t spend too much money and I didn’t drink as much, but I did go a full 4 days without smoking, I really did. I came to the realization that I can stop and I have stopped smoking before if you can believe that. I stopped smoking Newports, you know the Blackman’s Kryptonite. I did that cold turkey, so this is going to be easy for me once I put my mind to it. I figure I will slow and gradualy ween myself off of them, like I didn’t have one all day yesterday, until I got off work and had a therapy session with my brother and a good friend named Jack. That’s pretty much the only time I really, really want to smoke is when my good friend Jack comes over. I know I’m going to beat this addiction because I know I can and have before, so pray for me ya’ll, I got some trouble times ahead of me.

Other than that I’m good, just trying to be me and do me. Finding myself thinking about the past and wondering how fast time is passing us by. I have grand parent that are still alive til this day who are elderly, but you wouldn’t know this unless they told you. They aren’t the healthiest, but they can still get around without any real help, thank Jesus. I sit back and think how different the world is going to be if the Lord blesses me to see my old age? It must be a real sock for my grand folks to see how the world has changed thus far. Heck, when they got their first DVD player, oh about 3 years ago (10 years after the 1st one was put out) they really didn’t want it, but the family talked about them so much being so ol’school that they finally broke down and let one be brought for them. We had to explain that eventually the VCR is going to be obsolete and they fought and still till this day, if the local Blockbuster has any VCR movie best believe they are going to get them because the new thing just isn’t all that,is what they always say. Well, maybe the world hasn’t changed to them, but then again it may not be too far off from what it was.
