sheesh the info overload kinda hurts. on the good side not sleeping has much more crunch, vigor, muc

sheesh the info overload kinda hurts. on the good side not sleeping has much more crunch, vigor, much more society, and with that i get a bigger badder picture of myself sunning on the rocks with the other seals, barking my top concerns about the coming tide. that’s the news.

i dreamed someone told me i was subtle. maybe that’s in all my dreams, how can you tell?

with so many tight words tossed in the twitterbasket there’s some lump of labor issues, right, of course, the sun can’t rise twice a day, so we’re not writing longer stuff and we’re not in indonesia shutting down a paper-pulping crane and we’re not working at that (broke) downtown sustainability NGO and we’re not really gonna stay up all night waiting for santa to stuff the turkey.

(we could wonder whether green groups and thinkers really thought obama’d stay away from copenhagen. why ask, now it’s settled, and he’s still the show. mention his name & make a new friend today!)

yes. yes, i would say ‘2030 NGO headline nooz’ has been informative. good stuff. fun also to see which ones were happier on fb or thru email. assuming that wapo piece was right about the money, most groups’re canvassing the inboxes, so getting their email newsletters would be primo except those’re rarely formatted for scanning, and my brain’s wiped.

also i’m an asshole. who entered twitter muchly same ‘window stalking’ how i lived my ’second life’ — without theory without plan — very confused when pretty avatars talked back as though were real, eager, years younger, and abused of a whole other set of true — WTF!

once upon a post i said i had some kind of theory of quoting, quoting being a big deal in blogging, bigger maybe than anywhere, and it went like this: quoting is the presence of the window to the soul of the other text. ha ha. ok wait, i have another. the—

the body of an article of course relies on language and reader and writer and all that. please don’t shame me by asking it more technical. you have all that went into the piece and all that could come out of it and all that distinguishes it or seems to, let’s say. who cares. anyway, you have this thing a real (chain of) person(s) wrote and you want to snatch some of it because your wool isn’t long enough to pull over nearly any eyes at all, and because it all makes a nice pattern, so people, when they get to seeing through the wool, the light comes in pretty various colors and shapes for them. oooh aaah, let’s say. um.

the quote gets woven in but it’s really visiting from the other piece. i think that was my argument before, something about being a charming host. now we come back to twitter.

there are dynamics at work, right? dozens of millions of people are out there, leaving something like thousands who might care about something besides @barackobama’s feud with @moonfrye (fake!) and — there are organizational goals and personal communications and many more things i personally don’t care about now, that was your warning.

so what is this really small box of words, 25 words, it’s probably another visitor, maybe, a self-quote, unframed, like with haiku, the secondary meanings are the art, which then extends to include what readers might think or say (back), and me, i dream of such subtlety, don’t i.

you have to leave things out without denying them. can be tricky. best be strictly descriptive, or rent a better education.

We passed this elephant (and his handlers) while cruising up to Anjuna beach on our little Honda scooter, and we knew we had to come back and ride him. We didn’t know it was going to cost a 2000 rupee “temple donation” (approximately 40 USD), but like everywhere in India, if you’re smart you never pay sticker price.

Bab keempat interlok.

13 ianuarie

Are si versuri…

I write this from TB’s basement, where I’m about to go to sleep after a wonderful day fu

I write this from TB’s basement, where I’m about to go to sleep after a wonderful day full of bullshitting, good food, bullshitting, sight-seeing, bullshitting, horse racing, games, and OH YES, bullshitting. Their kid is great and they are great, and meeting them has been majorly cool. I am having a terrific time here with the TB/Dys clan, and I will be very sorry to leave their warmth for my father’s house on the afternoon of the day you’re reading this, which to me is tomorrow but to you is today.

(Sidebar: This whole writing-at-night-and-posting-in-the-morning thing is really working out for my schedule and my OCDness and so on, but trying to compensate for it when I’m actually writing sentences is a huge pain in the ass. Writing as if I’m writing it the next morning is stupid, and having to keep footnoting it is irritating. End sidebar.)

Poor BF seems to have caught a vacation allergy and is plumb wore out. I hope he feels better soon, otherwise his patience with my father’s family will be further tested by the sickness on top of it.

Guys, I got to go to Churchill Downs today. I’ve wanted to go to the Derby since I was a tiny girl and even before I understood and appreciated The Hatness, but getting to go to the Downs at all was a major joyfest for me. Watching the horses actually run by as I stood there with my face split open in a grin was indescribably awesome. I love horses and I wish like hell that my life accommodated for spending some kind of time with them on a regular basis. Seeing them do what they do here, at the track, was so wonderful. And God, thoroughbreds are so beautiful.

I have great news: I’m teaching all four Saturday classes in December at the Annapolis Lululemon! They are of course free and hence unpaid, but that’s fine with me – I can pass out business cards, get experience, etc. I did a short and quite loose session with Dys today (she was great), and I’m not too pleased about my one-on-one teaching skills, but I know I’ll do better with practice. The looseness was because the dog kept walking into Dys’s space insisting on play, Boy kept asking questions, Dys herself asked all kinds of terrific questions about what she should do and why, and generally it was lots more fun than just doing a quiet Simon-says class.

I haven’t anything else to tell you, except that the city where I am is nice, the company is good, and I wish I didn’t have to go home. So happy not to be going to work tomorrow, as well. So I’m going to sleep. Hope you’re all well.

so really wow it was a month ago, i learned yoko ono did a twitter Q&A on fridays, and i thought “what a good person to ask a nice fat question that is close to what another person might call their heart.” though it may look cold.

so since then there was — i guess poking around social media that can be as intense as co-blogging it also pokes back around you — forget what that one expert said about keeping it light and friendly. twitter is war, like how dog shows are.

really the discovery is about collective intelligence and crowdsourcing and such. and cooperating. a tender subject, a central subject.

pludk

the more voices i hear the more it seems how far apart & cold we are even when we feel warm. is collaboration the right medicine?

yoko ono

Collaboration works even when you are far apart in the physical distance to each other. If you think of collaboration as “medicine,” you are right away distancing yourself from the act of collaboration. Collaboration is love, joy, not a medicine.

O seara de singuratate in doi!

Ascult : 3 Doors Down-Here Without You

Mananc:nimic…not really hungy anymore..

Miros a: depresie

i wish wordpress.com automagically turned URLs to links like some other blogware does. sure it screw

i wish wordpress.com automagically turned URLs to links like some other blogware does. sure it screws up the search engines and related omtipizimazations, cuz the spiders’re like, “um, yes, i know, but tell me how you really feel” — i like the aesthetic of the bare address as its own meaning, eh such as, ahem, “i just finished reading http://www.wired.com/vanish/ & was mildly entertained by rich boy suffering through theft of own preciously-preened identity. maybe he should have got drunk & killed someone to set the mood.”

more tho i’d say the reason to read it if you’re not in them is to get another look at what they do. the story makes for a decent short (male-dominated) anthropology of social networking.

on another tip i flipped through http://prezi.com/3igqdq90g-y0/ which oooo cited someone i know, in a context i’m sure my someone might find disturbing. ok wait: the format is nifty. i like the whole pan-and-scan idea. and the material made me want to use the word blargh in a possible twitter note about it, that’s something new, particularly the part about social media humanizing corporations. in one vision of the new green peaceful pony world, corporations won’t just be your friend, they’ll be your best friend.

so i was thinking, as i was wondering what the narrator might have been saying, that maybe, since we were friends, i could tell big corporates to relinquish power, let the world have a little non-mercantilist transformative moment so the spaceship’s happysexymagick repair systems could do their business. it would be ok. “you can trust me. i am your authenticated friend.”

this seems as good a time as i can think of to explore http://www.bitrebels.com/geek/10-ways-to-ruin-your-reputation-on-twitter/. “bite the hands that like you” is probly not there, it’s sort of understood.

oh let’s see, skipping 1, 2, 3…

4. Don’t Pretend To Be An Expert Or Guru – To have a good reputation on Twitter, you have to keep it real. People can see right through you when you try to be something you’re not.

yeah that’s right, that’s right, i was just reading about the authenticity thing.

you probly know something about hedgehogs and foxes, right, which i me discussed at http://yourbreak.wordpress.com/2009/07/21/rtfi-read-the-fucking-internet/ (or http://wp.me/pi33x-13P if you like, some do) and the larger conclusion there was i was a fedgehox. flexibly cantankerously fraudulent, in general, but i’m very open about it. i make stupid claims based on what other people tell me is known.

i think it’s a charming human vulnerability thing, right? i would make a good new-style corporation. “please log in! (baby don’t hack me, don’t hack me, no more)”

ah yes, sure, some kid artist made a vase covered in truisms. one of them was “cool is the new straight.”

skipping 5, 6… oh! no.

6. Don’t Complain And Whine That You Want More Followers – This is so tacky. Engage, send great tweets, build relationships, make friends, have fun – if you do these things and are genuine about it, the followers will come!

hm. is it weird that each time i read this it feels different? wait, you know what i want to do instead is decapitate 6 and 7 and combine.

Engage, send great tweets, build relationships, make friends, have fun – if you do these things and are genuine about it, the followers will come! No pressure here, but c’mon, let Twitter excite you! Take some chances. Have some fun. Stretch out of your comfort zone a little bit.

… baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, no more …

skipping to…

9. Don’t RT Without Giving RT Credit – You can lose trust with people in a hurry if you do this. Give credit where credit is due!

ah yeah that’s complicated. especially with the new RT gizmo and what kinds of horrible things people want to do to it. and of course me being bloggish for way too many hours and days — gotta be thousands of posts — i don’t wanna FWD:FWD:FWD: things, i want to write a little ode to them or quote them to capture the magick. which can pretty funky, huh, if you have the link and the finder’s attention-fee, to point at something key or cool in 15 words, without losing the voice, right, but no question that is the thing i love about reading. the music of the logic of them and there and then.

assuming it’s pulp nonfiction.

oh no we’re here…

10. Don’t Spew Negativity All Over Your Followers – Sure, everyone has a bad day every now and then, and that’s part of the beauty of Twitter, we are all here for each other! But when you tweet everyday about how everything sucks, it gets old quick. A positive attitude goes far in life, and on Twitter!

hmmmmmmm. one or two people have said something back? “when you tweet everyday about how everything sucks,” huh. i’ve been in a few too many futile efforts so far, personally and collectively, and yeah, let’s pull up the thing a couple days ago,

thinking positive, a way to get places & a way of waiting out passing trains, you tell which by background noise

if people hadn’t already noticed, i can’t personally tell an opportunity from a flat skunk. there’s a lot of mystery in the world, for me…? and um when i try to concentrate, intentionally, it really doesn’t work well, like i said before, the prediction of “global industrial plan” was sketched and drawn and inked all in one morning sitting on a salty rock near the golden gate, with the cormorants the shore the hills and the sun behind me to anchor the project of turning a tweet-size outline into a little manifesto-ish, on a smart phone.

i didn’t say to anyone i think that the first neutral person i called to take the thing’s temperature was in a canoe, hundreds of miles away, a surprise! i could smell the sea and feel the breeze and hear the waves lapping against a boat i was definitely not in. the neutral person was in turn surprised that the phone rang.

i told my friend about the tableau i could see: avid photographer trying to sneak up on the basically domesticated neighborhood heron, in the pretty marsh grass, and such. it added to the confusion.

A positive attitude goes far in life, and on Twitter!

what i read a couple days ago, someone saying that new-style activists knew the problems and wanted the yes-we-can version, with the solutions and the energy. reminded me of the earlier bit, someone musing that climate change etc had moved from the hands of the scientists to the engineers, except of course that wasn’t true, the scientists still needed to help the engineers measure the new sofa.

but… then these new-style activists get themselves all psyched up for things like rearranging the healthcare furniture and call it a big win. jesus that was my joke about the bush administration in their first few months: they were going to simplify the government into one department, “the department of doin’ stuff,” and nobody had to worry ’bout a thing cuz all the stuff would just get done.

and how, brother.

and you know, like with the fact we have maybe a few more years where this system of paying these doctor bills doesn’t crush all other necessary activity—

the green stuff is the same. the old numbers suck. the new is being born.
