the body of an article of course relies on language and reader and writer and all that. please don’t shame me by asking it more technical. you have all that went into the piece and all that could come out of it and all that distinguishes it or seems to, let’s say. who cares. anyway, you have this thing a real (chain of) person(s) wrote and you want to snatch some of it because your wool isn’t long enough to pull over nearly any eyes at all, and because it all makes a nice pattern, so people, when they get to seeing through the wool, the light comes in pretty various colors and shapes for them. oooh aaah, let’s say. um.

the quote gets woven in but it’s really visiting from the other piece. i think that was my argument before, something about being a charming host. now we come back to twitter.

Selain kata kunci “Ultraman”, “Murayya Paniculata” dan “perempuan sunyi” (Ceh!). Ada juga sampai ke sini dengan kata kunci “kisah beromen” (Hey! keji tau..)

Maka dengan nawaitu untuk terus diberi perhatian (minta puji orang Sabah kata) maka saya mahu tulis tentang buku lagi kali ini.

Tajuknya Interlok dan ditulis oleh Abdullah Hussain, sasterawan negara yang ke 8 (Wah! nombor manyak ong!). Ini adalah buku pertama yang saya beli dalam format kulit keras. Antara buku fiksyen yang paling mahal saya beli. Saya mahu meraikan keindahan sastera negara. Gitu!

Interlok berlatarbelakangkan sebuah kampung di Tanah Melayu waktu pra-kemerdekaan. Ianya di pecahkan kepada empat bab.

Bab pertama tentang Seman yang baru menyedari kekayaan yang dimilki oleh keluarganya hanyalah ilusi. Tiba2 diberitahu dia tidak berharta setelah ayahnya meninggal dunia dan kerana kejahilan tentang pentingnya pendidikan, Seman dihalang ke sekolah. Maka, itulah Seman, miskin, tidak berpelajaran dan merempat di tanah sendiri.

Bab kedua tentang Cing Huat yang datangnya dari tanah besar Cina dengan semangat membara lari dari kemiskinan yang menjerut lalu bernafas hasil dari kecekalan melawan tipu muslihat. Maka itulah Cing Huat, cekal, licik dan kaya di tanah orang.

Bab ketiga tentang Maniam yang datangnya dari Kerala, setelah mendengar kisah satu tempat  dimana apa sahaja yang dipegang boleh menjadi duit, dengan tekad Maniam terpaksa meninggalkan isteri dan anaknya dan mencuba apa sahaja. Setelah beberapa lama di Tanah Melayu, kedengaran isterinya di Kerala berkahwin dengan lelaki lain. Maka itulah Maniam, kecewa, pelarian perasaan, di tanah orang.

Bab keempat interlok. Dimana ketiga2 mereka tadi rupanya mempunyai kaitan yang berselirat lantas akhirnya merungkai setiap nasib. Di dalamnya muncul kisah melawan Malayan Union, kekejaman jepun, kesetanan komunis. Dan tiba2 muncul pula perjuangan melayu yang berapi2 yang tiba2 ada kekuatan merampas semula tanah mereka, kemudian tiba2 pula si cina dan si india bersepakat membantu kerana sebab2 tersirat. Setiap watak menyumbang kepada berlakunya nasib watak yang lain. Ye lah! kita ni wujud di dunia bukanlah kerana kebetulan.

Buku ini adalah metafora buku sejarah Malaysia. Jika tidak suka membaca buku sejarah, maka bacalah buku ini. Dengan halus dan terperinci melalui setiap watak, sasterawan negara ini mampu menerangkan bagaimana kaum cina dan india menyumbang kepada kekuatan ekonomi dan akhirnya diterima menjadi sebahagian dari negara ini. (Adakah satu hari nanti si Indon, si Bangla, si Nepal, si Pilliphine, si Om akan dianggap sebagai sebahagian dari negara ini? Lu pikirlah sendiri). Bagaimana si melayu yang berada ditanah sendiri terus miskin dan tidak tahu untuk maju.  Buku ini menyelami jiwa dan perasaan watak2 sejarah. Ianya melangkaui buku sejarah biasa yang kering emosi walaupun banjir dengan fakta.

Cerita disusun kedepan dan kebelakang dengan terancang sekali. Buku ini terletak pada kelasnya yang tersendiri. Bacalah buku ini jika mahu belajar menghargai kemerdekaan, kecekalan, persahabatan, pendidikan, pengkhianatan, kebodohan dan penjajahan. Jangan cari kisah cinta yang dibantu pari2. Tidak ada.

M-am dus la Corb azi pentru juma de gram si am stat patru ore. In afara de faptul ca omul a facut o obsesie noua pentru iranieni a si venit Raven Day pe Discovery si sta ca hipnotizatu’ la televizor cu orele. Mi-a zis ca o sa ajung ca adormita de Dana, Capra, care doarme 12 ore pe zi si sta 7-n scoala.
Pentru vreo doua saptamani dupa ce Corbul s-a despartit de Catalina, am mai stat de vorba cu ea (asta bineinteles inainte de Marea Cearta obligatorie intre oameni de sexe opuse care se cunosc prea bine si se tem de ce s-ar putea re-intampla). Ea imi spunea cu un aer transportat:
” Punctul maxim al relatiei noastre sentimentale, mi-a zis el, a fost cand eram in Resurrection cu Stiuca si el mi-a zis, ca eram intr-o fusta scurta, acopera-ti si tu ma picioarele, ca suntem si noi oameni.”
Daca ala a fost punctul maxim al relatiei lor sentimentale, ce sa mai zic de relatie? Uneori nu stiu daca il urasc pe Corb mai mult pentru inocenta lui de copac sau pentru norocul lui de caine orb.
Oricum azi m-am ras de m-am omorat. In olanda cica a fost explozie la un depozit de artificiii, cu 20 de morti si un foc care s-a raspandit in tot orasul; in timp ce aia mureau, salvarea hahaia, focul se raspandea si armata venea (sunt rimaru), pe cer erau artificii.

Groove Armada recently signed with Om Records and are set to release a brand new album “BlackLight” with them in February 2010. This is the first single from said album -  “I Won’t Kneel.”

I really like this. Simple, very well executed, and feels like the first video to move the whole 80’s/electro thing forwards visually rather than just dredging up tired retro cliches.

I write this from TB’s basement, where I’m about to go to sleep after a wonderful day full of bullshitting, good food, bullshitting, sight-seeing, bullshitting, horse racing, games, and OH YES, bullshitting. Their kid is great and they are great, and meeting them has been majorly cool. I am having a terrific time here with the TB/Dys clan, and I will be very sorry to leave their warmth for my father’s house on the afternoon of the day you’re reading this, which to me is tomorrow but to you is today.

(Sidebar: This whole writing-at-night-and-posting-in-the-morning thing is really working out for my schedule and my OCDness and so on, but trying to compensate for it when I’m actually writing sentences is a huge pain in the ass. Poor BF seems to have caught a vacation allergy and is plumb wore out. I hope he feels better soon, otherwise his patience with my father’s family will be further tested by the sickness on top of it.

Guys, I got to go to Churchill Downs today. I’ve wanted to go to the Derby since I was a tiny girl and even before I understood and appreciated The Hatness, but getting to go to the Downs at all was a major joyfest for me. Watching the horses actually run by as I stood there with my face split open in a grin was indescribably awesome. I love horses and I wish like hell that my life accommodated for spending some kind of time with them on a regular basis. Seeing them do what they do here, at the track, was so wonderful. And God, thoroughbreds are so beautiful.

I have great news: I’m teaching all four Saturday classes in December at the Annapolis Lululemon! They are of course free and hence unpaid, but that’s fine with me – I can pass out business cards, get experience, etc. I did a short and quite loose session with Dys today (she was great), and I’m not too pleased about my one-on-one teaching skills, but I know I’ll do better with practice. The looseness was because the dog kept walking into Dys’s space insisting on play, Boy kept asking questions, Dys herself asked all kinds of terrific questions about what she should do and why, and generally it was lots more fun than just doing a quiet Simon-says class.

I haven’t anything else to tell you, except that the city where I am is nice, the company is good, and I wish I didn’t have to go home. So happy not to be going to work tomorrow, as well. So I’m going to sleep. Hope you’re all well.

so really wow it was a month ago, i learned yoko ono did a twitter Q&A on fridays, and i thought “what a good person to ask a nice fat question that is close to what another person might call their heart.” though it may look cold.

so since then there was — i guess poking around social media that can be as intense as co-blogging it also pokes back around you — forget what that one expert said about keeping it light and friendly. twitter is war, like how dog shows are.

9. Don’t RT Without Giving RT Credit – You can lose trust with people in a hurry if you do this. Give credit where credit is due!

10. Don’t Spew Negativity All Over Your Followers – Sure, everyone has a bad day every now and then, and that’s part of the beauty of Twitter, we are all here for each other! But when you tweet everyday about how everything sucks, it gets old quick. A positive attitude goes far in life, and on Twitter!

if people hadn’t already noticed, i can’t personally tell an opportunity from a flat skunk. there’s a lot of mystery in the world, for me…? and um when i try to concentrate, intentionally, it really doesn’t work well, like i said before, the prediction of “global industrial plan” was sketched and drawn and inked all in one morning sitting on a salty rock near the golden gate, with the cormorants the shore the hills and the sun behind me to anchor the project of turning a tweet-size outline into a little manifesto-ish, on a smart phone.

i didn’t say to anyone i think that the first neutral person i called to take the thing’s temperature was in a canoe, hundreds of miles away, a surprise! i could smell the sea and feel the breeze and hear the waves lapping against a boat i was definitely not in. the neutral person was in turn surprised that the phone rang.

i told my friend about the tableau i could see: avid photographer trying to sneak up on the basically domesticated neighborhood heron, in the pretty marsh grass, and such. it added to the confusion.

what i read a couple days ago, someone saying that new-style activists knew the problems and wanted the yes-we-can version, with the solutions and the energy. reminded me of the earlier bit, someone musing that climate change etc had moved from the hands of the scientists to the engineers, except of course that wasn’t true, the scientists still needed to help the engineers measure the new sofa.
