DELRAY GIRL REPORTS THE OPENING OF 75 MAIN LOCATED IN THE OLD CUGINI GRILL LOCATION IN THE HEART OF THE AVE!

75 MAIN OPENS ITS DOORS TO ATLANTIC AVENUE!

Young and eclectic 31 year old, Zachary Erdem, has fashioned the new energetic, Southampton style eatery, equipped with white sleek lounge ensembles, disco balls and naked women!

Naked Women you say?

Yes, naked women adorn the edgy menu, complete with American cuisine choices with a touch of Mediterranean influence and a bigger touch of Hamptonite tastes!

75 Main’s Provocative Menu!

Attending the opening evening at 75 Main, our group settled on an outside table, testing out 75′s ability to wow us Delray champions of great eateries and wondering about the restaurant’s longevity factor. Publicist, Sharon Levinsohn, charged with coordinating the opening’s invite list, packed the stylish eatery with patrons spanning the ages of 9-90 years including Hamponites, tourist and of course our much loved locals. With the same open kitchen used when once Cugini Grill, Head Chef John Thomas, formally of Seagate Hotel and much loved 32 East along with Chef commercial restaurant consultant, Karin Sander, formulated what hopes to be the best foodie fare on the Ave as well as being the newest “place to be seen”! Add a bit of naked women on the menu, 75 hopes to turn you on in more ways than one!

For opening night, 75 Main offered its’ patrons free appetizers consisting of “melt in your mouth” calamari, breaded and fried to perfection  topped with sour cream sauce and various peppers, but unfortunately lacking in a bit of taste. Alongside was offered soft warm bread with a chopped olive spread, making up for the lack of taste of the calamari. Consultant Karin, unaware of the calamari sour cream combination served, was disappointed upon viewing the baskets laid out on the tables. I must admit, many of us agreed with her.

The bar scene was just what I imagine the owner intended, pricey drinks where two vodkas set you back a heaping $20.00, but no different than most other venues on the Ave. (* see end note). Though the establishment sports an ever changing, seasonal, signature drink, the “75 Martini” and for the opening this represented a Passion fruit Martini with a fresh organic edible flower promoted by bartenders we recognized from other important venues on the AVE. The bar vibe most definitely smelled of regular delrayites who commanded the attractive stools, seated at the marble bar.  The social scene ignited was a refreshing twist expected from us impatient downtowners always looking for the next “newest” place to check out. Sadly, the most enticing area of the eatery, “the New York style”, lounge was closed to patrons and only open to the media. Understandably, given that it’s an after hours lounge, still it would have been nice for the public to be able to view their future dance floor.

75 MAIN’S SWANKY LOUNGE EQUIPPED WITH DISCO BALL AND SEX APPEAL!

How will 75 fare in the tough Avenue competitous market, where turnover rate is at an all-time high and patrons demand high standards? Well that remains to be seen. Delray girl will have to test some food samplings including the Branzino, (Mediterranean sea bass) also on neighbor, Vic and Angelo’s menu and one of the Hampton’s most favorite menu items seen in almost every restaurant on the little peninsula. Of course, I will have to report back about what is really good and what is really not so good. But I‘m looking forward to the back lounge area where, like its predecessor, European style DJs will spin house music under the disco ball from Thursday through Saturday nights starting at 10:30 pm and noting the effect this swanky lounge will have on the existing Il Bacio establishment located directly behind. I will keep my fellow Delrayites posted on how 75 Main does in the next few months and you can check back here for recommendations for the best places to be seen on the Avenue and the best places to dine in Delray Beach.

* end note: Correction-Owner Zach Erdem was quick to point out that two vodkas are $16.00 and two Grey Goose Vodkas are $20.00. Upon further investigation, I found that our order was an Absolute vodka and a Meyers Rum for $20.00.
