} Hoje, dia 23 de Novembro vai rolar On the Rocks @ D-EDGE!

A segunda-feira mais rock´n´roll de São Paulo rola @ D-EDGE. e hoje terá a participação de Adriano Cintra, Pedrinho Dubstrong, Pati Laundry e Rodrigo Marques com a performace da pin-up Lekka.

Last night was so cold that when I tried to respond to some text messages I kept hitting the wrong keys.  I gave up.  I had to decide between giving up on my margarita on the rocks or warming my hands.  We know what choice I made.

Granted, the ingredients were not the best of the best, but in the right hands, you can mix a delicious and enjoyable drink.  I’ve been to plenty of places where they use store-bought mix for margaritas and the drink ends up tasting more like the preservatives than the tequila.  Last night, we had margaritas made with Jose Cuervo Tequila and Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix and the flavor was well-balanced and strong.  The rim of the cup was perfectly salted and when it would fall into the drink, it brought out the lime flavor.  Some said they felt the drinks were too strong, so it might be that I’ve grown accustomed to the powerful flavor of liquor.  I thought they were delicious and prepared just right so that the flavor of the mix did not over power the Tequila itself.

Earlier in the day, my friend and I ate at Tequila Jacks in Long Beach, Ca.  I had the Long Beach Peach as the cocktail choice for the afternoon.  The first glass was quite sweet, but the second time around, I liked that it was a little less nectar-like and slightly more fizzy.  There don’t seem to be any available recipes online, but I recall the ingredients were Peach Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Peach Nectar, and a couple of other ingredients.  Maybe Triple Sec.

We ended the night with a visit to the Red Lion Tavern in Silver Lake/Los Angeles.  Maneuvered our way past a few hipsters and had my all time favorite Spaten Optimator. It was already pretty late so we didn’t get to hang out there for very long, but it sure looked like a cool place.  I have a preference for architecture that involves a lot of hidden rooms and lots of turns, and this place was right up my alley.  I loved that you could hang out in a sort of indoor/outdoor area where you can have a smoke, if you smoke, and the bar isn’t too far from you.  I preferred the cozier bar that was just up the stairs and loved that it included a private room with  tables and booths.

For the record, Paulaner Salvator rocks my socks off. I have never felt so much enjoyment in my mouth since black cherry ice cream.

Essa segunda-feira vai rolar mais uma festa de muito rock´n´roll @ D-Edge.  On the rocks é conhecida como a melhor segunda-feira de Rock de São Paulo e do Brasil.

As pick ups ficam na mão de Flavio Forgotten , Gustavo Forgotten e Clemente com a performace da pin-up doll Lekka.

I remember speaking to Pam on Wednesday and I’m sure you’ve also mentioned this to me: “Go out. When your body just wants to sit at home and your head just wants to wallow in pity, leave. Force yourself to have fun and be around people who make you feel good.”

So I did. I went out with Mat and it just kind of happened. We barely know each other, mostly me talking to him on facebox. But he invited me out last weekend to his friends bday and said if I need a ride, he would come and get me.

I’ll remind you that this is not something I ever do. I barely know him, I know he’s super nice, and I don’t know his friends and I hate being uncomfortable around people. I was worried he wouldn’t find my place, as most people can’t, and I was worried that I wouldn’t have much to say around his friends.

So here’s what happened …

He txtd me when he was on his way and I expected him to call and tell me he was lost. He did not. His car pulled up at my house and he came out of the car and started walking towards the door. I came out of the house and walked towards him and as my mother locked the door behind me, she glared at this new man (Mathieu mentioned this to me twice during the night because he thought it was sweet but kinda scary that my mom glared at him). I really like his car. I dont know what it is. It was black. Small. 4 door. Manual. We were talking, getting to know each other better and when I told him I was in psychology, he was really excited. He was telling me about this book he was reading, more philosophical, but we started talking about identity and self-construals (this was so unexpected as he was in university for one year and then joined the army for like 4 years, which is why his body is so amazingly ripped! and now, attempting to find a job when he moved to Edmonton, drives a Pepsi truck ….). We made it to the bar and stood in line. Luckily we were on the guest list so didn’t have to pay cover. The place was absolutely packed!! It was On The Rocks, so it was small too. We ran into some of his friends, we chatted for a bit, Mat bought me a drink (vodka and cranberry) and the live band was playing Franz Ferdinand and I wanted to go dance. We danced for a few songs and then took a break. We made our way to some other place in the bar, stood, finihed our drinks and were talking about other books we were currently reading. We met up with a friend of his from salsa (he was maybe 38 and really nice) he bought us drinks and then we went to go dance again as the band was takign a break, they were playing more hip hop. We really didn’t hang out with his friends at all, just if we happened to run into one of them. By this time, Mat started dancing closer to me and would occasioanly put his arm around me and … not grind, but not not grind, you know? … it was nice. I didn’t know what to do so i didn’t do anything so he kinda backed off and we danced normally. He told me he liked the way I danced and how nice it was to dance with someone who knows how to dance and is having fun. We took another break and went to another spot in the bar to chat. It was so crowded at this time that he held my hand so I wouldn’t lose him. I thought this was nice. He put his arm around my waist and he was just so nice. Next drink was just water that we shared and as he was ordering the water at the bar i glanced at my phone and he had txtd me! He wrote: “You look very pretty tonight ” Lady Gaga came on and the expression on my face let him know that I really wanted to go dance. We went back on the dance floor and we were dancing closer and my arms found their way around him and he kissed my neck lol. it was sweet, not like creepy. We were tired at this point, almost being 2 am, so we went to say bye to some of his friends and left. He drove me home and when I was leaving, I gave him a hug and Im pretty sure he was trying to kiss me but I was scared and didn’t know what to do so I just kept hugging him and he gave me a good hug, like hard and tight like he wanted me there. He then told me he would walk me to my door but was scared of my mother. I went inside and txtd him back: “You looked pretty too!” which was probably child-like but i thought was cute. He told me i was a sweetheart and would like to see me again when he gets back from Quebec next week.

Overall, it was just a nice night. How refreshing it is to be with a very sexy, nice man.

LXTV.com’s online bartending competition for season two’s On the Rocks, takes off from where season one left off:  bartender’s making a go at a $100,000 check (courtesy of Absolut Vodka) and the title of America’s Top Bartender at the two-time host city of Las Vegas. 

Where season one was filmed at bars throughout the MGM Grand, season two will take place throughout Caesars Palace over eight days, starting at the end of October and airing as three 30-minute episodes on NBC following Saturday Night Live, beginning November 7.   Up to three contestants may be voted off after each episode, making this both the shortest of the foodie reality television shows out there as well as that with the highest stakes for the competitors. 

Open casting calls were held in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas. 

Award-winning mixologist and Pernod Ricard brand ambassador Simon Ford will return on the show in the capacity as advisor on all things beverage. 

Among those made famous during season one were Las Vegas bartenders James “Franchise” Hadhazy, BarMagic of Las Vegas’ Kristen Schaefer and Stripsteak’s Amanda Gager, who, after outlasting and outmixing her competition, took home the check and the coveted title.  Gager is said to be returning this season as judge, as well as entertaining Italian playboy bartender Brienza. 

Among those called back this season was First Food and Bar bartender Mariena Mercer, 26, and a rare second-generation Las Vegas native.  Mercer has been bartending up to two jobs at once since she turned 21.

 “I really want to experience every type of bartending,” she says.  “I really would love to own my own bar some day.”

} A partir de hoje (05/10), começa a venda de ingressos para a o  DJ  Josh Wink, que se apresentará @ D-EGDE dia 05 de Novembro (quinta-feira).

O DJ norte-americano têm muitas influências, desde deep house até acid jazz, com música eletrônica experimental. Ele começou a discotecar nos bares underground da Filadelfia em 1987.

Seu sucesso veio em 1995 quando ele se tornou um DJ- produtor e saiu da coleira do clássicos. Com o mix de house e techno ficou conhecido mundialmente.

Ele está trabalhando agora com “Blue Jeans” do Ladytron,  Paul Oakenfold’s com “Starry Eyed Surprise” e Depeche Mode’s “Free Love”.

I think I could have guessed how to make “Disarono on the rocks…and lemon” on my own  thank you very much. And the other recipes don’t quite challenge the imagination either.

Die Doku mit dem gewissen Etwas (dem Schuss Rock n’ Roll) ist fertig! On The Rocks – Auf der Kippe, Projekt des vergangenen Winters, erfährt gerade noch ein klein wenig Aufpolierung, die DVD (inklusive Extras) wird gestaltet, die Cover gedruckt und dann kann der auf knapp 10 Minuten angewachsene Film auch schon seinen weltweiten Triumphzug antreten. In den Startlöchern steht er jedenfalls. In Kürze wird es einige Testscreenings geben, danach heißt es:  Augen aufhalten nach der baldigen Verkündung der Premierendaten!
