Sometimes we all struggle to get motivated for a workout and could all do with a little inspirational kick every now and then, aside from caffeine, which usually works pretty well, music can really put a kick into your workout. We hung out backstage after tonight’s live season finale of Dancing with the Stars, where Donny was crowned the winner and was downright giddy. “I’m so happy. I’m so happy. Zoo Life/G-Unit Rapper 40 Glocc is real political these days (“’Cause I care, he says). Not only is he gearing up for the release of his street album Concrete Jungle with the lead single, “Grindin’” being a reflection of how music is a refuge from the New World Order, he’s also unabashedly speaking up about his trial this coming January for allegedly promoting gang culture in his music and videos.

Last year, he and fellow alleged Colon City Crips (a faction of the Crips gang operating out of San Bernardino County, California (Inland Empire)) members were served with an injunction that specifically details him – birth name, Lawrence White – as “particularly notorious… a senior member of the gang who has become a rap star.”

The injunction further claims that he uses his resources (network and net worth) to “perpetuate and foster” the image of the gang’s dominance of the Arbor Terrace Apartments, sited as a place of criminal activity including trespassing (by members of the gang who are non-residents) and illegal drug selling.

The apartment complex is otherwise known as “The Zoo.” White explained to Hip-Hop Wired that the “zoo” of Zoo Life refers to “them calling us animals.”

Though he didn’t clarify exactly who is the aforementioned “them” and “us,” White did elaborate further on how the prosecution and much of mainstream media has painted gang members for the public eye. “He [the prosecutor] called us the Colton City Criminals.” White said. That stereotype, he explained, can be just as damaging as of what he is accused.

“Everybody that’s in a gang is not a bad person. It’s always a lot of them, a big percentage of them that’s in a gang telling everybody, ‘Yo, don’t do that, that’s not right.”

Regardless, the Prayer for Relief as listed in the injunction includes disallowing two or more gang members to appear in public together, and no one gang member may pass through or stop anywhere in the Arbor Terrace Apartment complex and nearby SB Liquor Store; drink alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol in public; or use photography, video, or audio to foster the reputation that the two aforementioned locations are “turf of the Colton City Crips or their offshoots, Zoo Babies, Zoo Crew, or the like.”

“How you gonna banish me from American soil that you don’t even own?” White asked. “You telling me I can’t go to this liquor store down the street [privately owned property]… there’s no crime committed. I’m not a felon.”

Though he’s “never been in the penitentiary,” if the injunction is passed, and, “if I get caught walking down the street with an open can of beer, which is a misdemeanor, that’s considered a felony and I’m eligible for prison.”

Gang injunctions have been of much debate. Organizations such as The American Civil Liberties Union have argued that the terms of many injunctions “infringe the rights of individuals to associate freely,” even during legal events like family reunions. “There are better solutions to crime,” the ACLU reports, “such as community policing… job and education programs.”

Just last week, Ontario, California (another part of the Inland Empire) politicians and law enforcement held a select committee hearing:  “Gangs 2.0:  The Emerging Threat of Cyberthugs. The meeting was called to combat the area’s escalating dangerous crime rate and gang activity and members using the social media networks like Facebook, YouTube and MySpace to recruit young members and further their gang activities.

Assembly Majority Leader Alberto Torrico  (D-Fremont) led the meeting and spoke with Hip-Hop Wired. He stated,

“Social networking is a great way to reach out to others, update them on activities, exchange information and support a cause.  Unfortunately, gangs are using these tools to communicate, recruit, issue threats, traffic narcotics, promote violence and expand their criminal activities.”

He also stated that these technologies were being used by gangs to conduct business inside the prison system and help run the outside from the inside.

“These guys go onto public computers that can’t be traced and these guys know what they’re doing.  They know how to scramble some of these signals and we’re way behind and need to catch up.   We’re holding these meetings to help our law enforcement get on an even playing field with these gangs.”

As 40 Glocc gears up for his case, he is now watching his back even more, as he has been labeled a target by  law enforcement. The  Zoo Life haa also been in the news, as of late, for accosting Plies at a Jamie Foxx video shoot.  Check out some of their video footage below of the incident and their new single “Return To Sender” which is aimed at Plies and a response to his “Letter To The Industry” track.

Vietnam needs to rely on its internal economic strength and less on foreign investment to capitalise on its integration into ASEAN, former vice president of Vietnam Truong My Hoa told a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on Nov. 24.

Ms. Hoa told the seminar on ASEAN-regional economic integration that Vietnam has strived to develop investment, bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the ASEAN free trade area to benefit both Vietnam and the association.

“ Vietnam has a special interest in boosting ASEAN-American economic cooperation. It is a strategic part in the development of ASEAN market aimed at opening more prospects for the future,” she said.

Vietnam has particular interest in cooperation in scientific research, education and training with the ASEAN community, achieving remarkable results in these areas in cooperation with Singapore and Thailand .

Tran Dai Hung, deputy chairman of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, said the Vietnamese Government displayed its internal strength through its effective policies to protect the market economy and improve competitiveness of businesses.

The policies included the stimulus packages, a comprehensive administration, public works planning, administration reform and anti corruption efforts.

Vietnam ’s role as chair of ASEAN next year will be to quickly respond to turbulence from the global economy, minimizing any wide-spread damage to the economy and to production and businesses in particular, Mr. Hung said.

The regional economic integration seminar was held by the Vietnam Lawyers Association, Hanoi-based Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the International Business and Law Academy.

SkyDrive is great file hosting site by Microsoft, with SkyDrive you get 25GB of storage, and integrates perfectly with Windows Live.

1. Comic readers

These are the people who watch videos by people like DCompose’s utterly shit 101 videos and pretend that they know about comics. This makes me really fucking angry because most of these people have probably never even heard of some of these characters/comics and just want to sound like they’re know something about comics to fit in. First off, most people who read comics are considered geeks (which we are) and are outcasted, so there is no point in doing this to fit in. Second, you guys could know the information if you actually read the comics, plus DCompose gives some false info and doesn’t even elaborate on the characters so stop watching his 101’s and read the damn comics.

2. Emos

Myself am not am emo no matter what others say, however, there are those who aren’t disturbed aka they either pretend or they like it for the fashion or music. Now the second example isn’t necessarily something I have a problem with, there are many “emos” who are in it for the music genre or fashion. But the people who pretend to be emo and make shit up and say that they cut themselfs is mostly false.

3. Gangsters

You should have all seen this one coming, no posers rant would be complete without a section for the “gangsters”. You have all seen them, hell you probably know a few people like this, the fuckers with the rags, and the pants that are like three sizes too god damned big. The ones who will “pull out their gat and bust a cap in yo ass”. Dear god you fuckers go get some pants that fit and if you say you’ll “pull out yo gat and bust a cap in somebodies ass” than you had better be ready to do it because there are plenty of people who will kick your ass in a second. Especially with the way that they hold their guns, seriously you could break your wrist holding even a 9mm like that.

In This Light And On This Evening es el tercer álbum de los británicos Editors. Con él, han decidido dar un paso más allá para no encasillarse en su anterior estilo, tan criticado por ser muy similar al de otros grupos como Joy Division o Interpol, y han subido el volumen de la electrónica y disminuído el de las guitarras eléctricas.

Este nuevo álbum, lanzado el 13 de octubre de 2009, se separa del anterior modelo de guitarras electricas + épica y se sumerge en un ambiente más oscuro y profundo, un ambiente creado por una electrónica perfecta utilizada en los momentos perfectos. El primer single, y el único hasta ahora, es ‘Papillon‘, cuyo videoclip podréis ver un poco más adelante.

De entrada, la primera track, la que le da nombre al disco, nos abruma con la nueva oscuridad creada por Editors en este álbum. ‘In This Light And On This Evening‘ fue inspirada, según el vocalista y letrista Tom Smith, en un cierto momento del día en el que se encontró a sí mismo mirando unos edificios de Londres, y supo que era lo más bonito que había visto en su vida, y de eso trata la propia canción. A continuación podéis ver un directo, en el que se aprecia muy bien que no son sólo buenos en el estudio, sino espectaculares en vivo también.

Poco después en el tracklist, nos encontramos con el single: ‘Papillon‘. Esta canción es la que más mantiene el parecido con los esquemas seguidos en el anterior álbum, An End Has A Start (2007).

‘You Don’t Know Love‘ es una más de las esenciales del álbum. Aquí se observa quizá mucho mejor el cambio que han dado que en el resto de tracks. La electrónica y la profundidad de la voz de Smith son claves.

A partir de ‘This House Is Full Of Noise‘, son todas bonus tracks, ésta incluída, que sólo se pudieron obtener en las tiendas de UK cuando el álbum salió a la venta. Os dejo con esta por último ya, para no extender mucho más, pero escuchadlo en Spotify al menos, que no tiene desperdicio.

Layout:

Ahh, yes! A good layout, helps improve how the information on the page is sorted, the clearer (and more informative) the page, the more likely the reader will return and subscribe!

Be Heard!

Yes, if you can try and connect your blog with Twitter (if you are using WordPress, see this article!) this way titles of blog posts will also be posted to Twitter, this will lead to more visitors on your blog.

Social:

Gain more popularity, by posting replies on Facebook, MySpace etc. By saying, checkout this great blog post: (YOUR LINK HERE). This will lead your friends to your blog, however they may (or may not) know if it is your blog!

Say what they want to hear by not saying it

The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly may actually be your worst enemy.  Read that sentence over if you have to, but it’s true.  If you’re writing your personal statement and a part of the prompt asks you to identify a very specific point  (i.e.: why you would be a good intellectual fit at the school, etc.), your essay should never directly restate the prompt or come anywhere close to restating it, for that matter. Say it implicitly.

Your written personal accounts should tell exactly why you’d be an excellent fit or why school X’s admissions director wants you without ever explicitly stating why.  If you find yourself unable to write out the perfect life item you think will get you into the program you desire, then you need to come up with another example, or you’ll surely end up with the boring and pitifully grammar school-esque “I would be an excellent fit because…” sentence.  

This in mind, you should venture off topic a bit if, in the end, you use your prolixity to make a point.  Don’t be intimidated at the prospect of going off topic.  After all, by simply writing down your thoughts, you’ll come up with more material than you need (a good problem to have) and you may just find your thoughts wandering enough to an even better exampleto address the prompt (another good problem to have).  If the prompt asks you to name a time when you overcame adversity, summing it up in one sentence just won’t hack it.  Expand your thoughts, including what you learned from your experience, how it has improved you as a person, why that will carry you through the next level of school or life.  Never be afraid to delve into details in an important aspect of your life.  If an event had a significant enough impact on you for you to be addressing it in a personal statement, you clearly don’t want to leave the reader with any questions because you felt that preemptively answering those questions would have taken your work down the wrong path.  Implicitly from all this, the reader will easily see exactly why you feel you’d be a good fit at their program.  They’ll be even more impressed when you’ve answered the question clearly and masterfully, but they have to remind themselves what the prompt was in the first place.
