It might sound silly to some people, but I’ve seen friends and strangers alike being overly attached to fictional characters. In the context of this blog, being too attached to 2D characters from anime or manga. Maybe even games! But I seldom read or hear people complain about characters in games. I wonder why…

This thought crossed my mind every time I read or hear fans complaining about a certain tragedy that has fallen on their favorite characters. Most recently, a friend told me she was scared to read the then latest chapter (probably two weeks ago?) of Naruto because she was scared to find out what’d happened Kakashi. Apparently, our mutual friend had told her that something bad might happened to the character. I didn’t know what to say when she explained her reason. I simply kept quiet.

On the bright side, at least she wasn’t cursing or anything about bad things (might be) happening to her favorite character. I remember when Itachi (of Naruto) and Ace (of One Piece) were killed off in their respective series a long time ago, friends expressed emotions I couldn’t quite understand. Anger towards the author, disappointments towards the series, etc. Some even stop reading/watching a series. I may be shocked or sad when certain characters were killed off, but the feelings lingered only for a short while. I’ll be lying if I say I don’t feel anything at all, but I don’t harbor negative emotions.

And then, I remember hanging out with a bunch of people a long time ago. They’re friends of friends. I sat through a heated discussion in which they were debating which character is the best. I can’t remember which series they were talking about. But the whole point is, watching them comparing their favorite characters are akin to watching parents insisting that their kids are smarter. It’s pointless because we are all entitled to our own opinions, biased to things/people we like.

If I really try, I suppose it’s understandable to a certain extent why some people gets a little emotional than necessary when bad things happen to their favorite characters. After all, it’s a character they’ve been following closely for a loooong time.

On the extreme side though, in my opinion, are diehard fans celebrating birthdays of fictional characters. I’m not saying it’s wrong or even saying that it’s weird (I’m too used to seeing things like that at this point). I just don’t understand why.

It’s just a fictional character. Is there a need to get all worked up? Or am I being heartless?

A guy from the same generation as garp and used to worth 500 million don’t have haki is hard to believe, also tekkai can be broken by people who can cut steel or a punch that’s strong enough to break it, but you could be right that he uses tekkai. It’s really hard to tell the different between tekkai and haki, wish oda show something that can allow us to tell them apart.

Dunno whether he used haki to strengthen his skull, i personally doubt that, but surely he is pretty good in haki. I mean,the man was worthy of over 500 million,and was faced by one of the strongest marines (likely the strongest after Kong and sengoku) who has got a lot of haki and even the conqueror one. Cavendish and Bartolo.eo should be able to use a little bit of haki too,since they are in the NW respectively for 3 and 1 year/s.

I am not saying Chinjao is not using Haki…. i am just saying its too early to say that he is using it for sure. Also, i feel a strong haki would have destroyed a lot more than that was shown. Totally agreed, chinjao should be strong enough to do that without using haki,as could all the characters before haki was introduced. when he will use haki,he will make many more damages. Btw, the scar should be on his head.

I think Oda is saving the best for last and that is Green Bit. On another note, i wonder who, out of those characters, is the one who will take Luffy to Zou since i’m pretty sure Nami will be forced to leave on her own sooner or later. Zou is the next arc. After Doflamingo is defeated that is where they all will go, together.

Doubt it would be that smooth… Law’s plan seems a bit hijacked due to Luffy’s recklesness and the presence of the Marines there, they seem aware of something of the Green Bitt deal. I dont think many focus of Kano-Kuni Kano country of sai and boo donchinchao family member is make me thing is be place to upgrade for figters from sh the most luffy when he propably loss his weaknes to sword he get his ovn tekai and zoro get to nultfi fire like get in wano or some other. It make some sense now reaction of Kin’emon about kaido.

I get some that wano is not ally to kaido but for his occupation and goverment for his loyal ally from Kano-Kuni. Atacking dragon can be artificial user. Now it get more sense chapter be chapter.Luffy learn be fighting and zorro be training. And now zorro not only power up be luffy.

Another great chapter. Like I said before most of these named fodders are just well. fodders, but their art style, names and even the reputation they carry fits really well with the arc. You could really tell that this is the New world. It’s nothing like any other arc in the first half of the grandline.

….Or at least they try to with their 60 second “quickie” recaps of the Arlong,Alabasta and Skypeia arcs. The Toonami Alliance  staff pretty much agrees these aren’t the best for new fans, so what we recommend you all do is watch episodes 1-206 when you guys the chance(preferably legally on FUNimation.com), I’m not saying all at once or before season 4 begins on Toonami. I am just suggesting no recap will ever show you the love of One Piece better than just experiencing it for yourself. I know it will take some time, but there is no other show like it on Toonami.

While the greatest parts begin to really kick in with the season Toonami is starting on(not at first as you can see from the promo), you just get so much more out of the show watching knowing how the crew got to where they are when season 4 began and their struggles in the past getting there.

I will say though that  after the Long Ring Long Island arc, there is a short filler arc where the crew looses their memories. I think this arc will be perfect in showing  how much of a bond the crew has for new fans and will show how strong these group of pirates are when together.

It’s been gloriously sunny and warm for the past two weeks! A wonderful bonus for me and all my fellow Vancouverites! People have been flocking to the beaches for a potential early tan this year. But it is only May and I didn’t quite count on having to be beach ready until at the very least, mid-June! And I’m not quite ready. I’ve got a little bit more work to do on those love handles!

Here are my tips on HOW TO Get Beach Ready…

There is no miracle pill or crash diet that will melt off the extra, winter layers. If you see something that says so, be very very suspicious! Eat plenty of vegetables and lean meats and whole grains! If you love your sugar, treat yourself once in a while! Or try some fibre to help control the blood sugar roller coaster! Check out PGX if you prefer to keep it simple and get sufficient fibre. It’s an all natural fibre supplement that helps control the cravings and keeps you feeling full (no magic here; just plain ol’ science and biology!).

Step Two: Exercise.

Move your body! Wake up in the morning, do a stretch and warm up your muscles. Try going for a run or a brisk walk or both (beach legs, heck yes!). You don’t need a gym to get in shape. Give yourself at least 20 minutes a day and get your heart pumping with simple exercises like jumping jacks, pushups, squats, lunges and the plank! Seriously, a lot of work goes into getting beach ready. Treat yourself to a new outfit for the summer season and show off the results of your efforts! Purchase something you are excited to wear and hang it up where you can see it everyday for ongoing inspiration.

seeing mt. fuji early in the morning on a crowded train on your way to work can make you look forward to your long day a little bit.  

and seeing mt. fuji beautifully light up in reds, yellows, pinks and purples at sunset is an absolute feast for the eyes.

its smooth and simple yet beautiful and iconic shape makes people stop and stare, and think and feel and appreciate, and take a deep breath.

my great-grandfather was actually a professional mt. fuji photographer, so the recent news that mt. fuji is likely to officially be registered as a world heritage site is super exciting for me. not that mt. fuji isn’t famous already, but that kind of recognition is always nice, right? I’m sure my great-grandfather would agree.

in my chickippie store I was able to add several new items today, and two of them are actually mt. fuji related- the Omamori Pokke and One Piece Mini Jigsaw Puzzle.

the Omamori Pokke gives traditional Japanese amulets a cool new twist. I love the bright bold colors and how functional they are!!

the limited-edition jigsaw puzzle was selected by my hubby, daich. he loves One Piece (as probably most Japanese do, again, and a whole lot of non-Japanese as well!) and thought the combination of One Piece and mt. fuji was too cool.
