She also gave me a wonderful review for One Sizzling Summer.  This was a wonderful way to end a really difficult weekend. 

Here it is…

One good thing happened during Hurricane Issac…my cover art for Memphis Heat arrived!  I was so happy to have it.  It took some getting used to, but I am good with it.  The cover to One Sizzling Summer was “Enrique meets Celine Dion“  this cover is “Enrique meets Angelina Jolie“.  The cityscape below the couple is of course, Memphis, Tennessee.  The tall building in the center is The Peabody Hotel, famous for the duck march through the lobby to the fountain at 11:00 am and again at 5:00 pm.  It also has a rooftop made for entertaining. which is incorporated in my story.  If you’ve seen Tom Cruise in The Firm, there is a scene where they are at a party on the rooftop of The Peabody.  The book is to be released on September 26th.  If you go for erotic romance, this may be something you’ll enjoy.  But be warned…it does contain explicit love scenes and graphic language.  It is a love story between one man and one woman and not some wild orgy story.

The day after the cover art arrived, my final edits came for my approval.  I had until Sept. 6th to return them, but sent them back that same night.  Maybe the release date will be moved up a bit.  It is an exciting time for me.  My friend and writing buddy, Joan Chandler, and I are going to the Heart of Louisiana Readers’ Luncheon in November.  We may have the opportunity to be guest authors at the book signing portion of the event.  We are over the moon excited about that possibility.  Last night I FINALLY finished my third book, and will be submitting it to be considered for publication hopefully by the end of the week.  So, I am feeling very much like an active, busy author, and I love it.  This is when Joan and I say we are “living the dream”!

Are you one of many who may suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia?  If you have a fear of Friday the 13th, then the answer is “YES”.  I don’t personally put a lot of thought into this particular date, and especially not today.  Want to know the reason why?  Well, I’m telling you anyway….

Siren BookStrand emailed me today to say they wanted to publish my second book, Memphis Heat!!!!!!!!!!!

I am really excited and will begin tomorrow working on the information they require to publish the book (cover ideas, blurbs for back cover, website, etc.).

Tonight, I am just going to enjoy the news and think about the ending I want to complete my third book, Right Around the Curve.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to wrap it up within the next two weeks.  In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Jillian: Kate is one of my chapter mates. She’s a wonderful person and so much fun! Her first book recently came out and I think you’ll love it. Thanks for dropping by, Kate! Tell us about your debut novel, One Sizzling Summer.

Kate: Ava is an American in London for the summer to work on her
doctorate degree in Psychology. She meets British actor, Quinton
Worthington, while running in the park early one morning. They
are instantly attracted to one another, and begin a passionate,
no strings attached fling. Both are career-oriented people, and
want no distractions that would come with commitment. As time
goes on, they secretly realize they could fall for each other. This
realization has them both behaving strangely in an effort to put
some distance between them. They ultimately have to decide
what is more important – the career of a lifetime or the love of a
lifetime.

Jillian: Where do you get your ideas for the stories you write?

Kate: I mainly get my ideas from the lyrics of songs I hear and like. I
begin to create a story around a scene that pops into my head,
and before long, I have a full length book!

Jillian: What song did you have in your head when you started One
Sizzling Summer?

Kate: “Slave to Love” by Bryan Ferry. I could listen to the intro of that
song a hundred times and not tire of it.

Jillian: What advice do you have for those writers that are trying to
become published authors?

Kate: Without a doubt, it would be to join the nearest RWA chapter,
and surround yourself with other writers. Some of the members
are published, and can help you chart your course heading in
that direction. They are willing to critique your work, and give
some suggestions to make it ready to submit to a publisher. You
won’t regret it..

Today was the day!  My debut novel, One Sizzling Summer, was released for purchase at Siren Bookstrand Publishing ( you can go to the site above if you are interested in a love story that sizzles and has a happy ending!).  The day has been rainy and overcast, but it’s been sunny in my heart!  I am thrilled to have accomplished this goal I’ve had for a few years now.  I’ve loved learning about the publishing process, and what editors expect in a final submission.  I am working on the next book now, and hope to have it completed soon.  Thank you to friends, family, and readers for supporting my efforts.  You keep me going!

Whatever your goal/dream is in this life, you can make it happen. Keep pursuing it.  If you aren’t sure how to go about it , ask someone that has already achieved that goal.   Jillian  Chantal (Sebastian’s Salvation)  shared with me and Joan Chandler , and now we both have been published and have our own website.  There are wonderful people out there that will be happy to show you the ropes.  JUST DON’T GIVE UP!  Well, I must close to go iron uniforms for tomorrow.  I wonder if Nora Roberts has to do her own ironing?   Have a great “rest of the week”!

The longtime dream of becoming a published author has finally come true.  Starting today, (Wed., Leap Year Day) people will be able to purchase my book for their reading pleasure.  It was a pleasure to write, and I trust will be a pleasure to read.  I will forewarn you that it contains strong language which may prove to be offensive to some. It also has very descriptive sexual content.  If this will offend you at all, please do not read the book.   It is a love story about two people and their journey to the land of “happily ever after.”  They have some conflict along the way, but the honest truth about this book is that it will probably turn out to be a “$5.00 Fantasy”.  If this should be the case for you, then I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do – create a mindless escape from the everyday stresses of life.  When you read it, use your imagination, and let the characters take on the appearance of  your dream lover and whomever you think the significant other should be (even if it’s YOU in the starring role!).  Thanks to all of my friends, family, and especially Mr. Patrick, for supporting and encouraging me to not give up until the dream became a reality.  I hope you enjoy meeting Ava and Quinton as much as I enjoyed writing their story!
