From tomorrow through next Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, TeenDramaWhore.com will be on hiatus.

I’ll be taking a solo trip to Cancun–a last-minute decision but a long-held desire.

Here’s the best way I can explain it:

Remember in season 1 of Dawson’s Creek when Joey had the opportunity to go to Paris but passed it up?

A few years later, she was at the airport and again had the option of going but decided not to.

Then, finally, in the last season and the second-to-last episode, Joey finally makes it there.

This is my Paris.

Not Cancun, specifically. But to take a trip by myself where I not only get some R & R but–more importantly–have the time to do some serious self-reflection.

I’ve made some big life changes in the last few months but have had little time to process as I’ve just been going going going. I worry that if I don’t stop and breathe or achieve this dream while I have the opportunity to do so, I’ll live to regret it.

Unfortunately, that means I won’t be here to live-blog this week’s One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and 90210 or even provide each day’s news.

I feel very guilty, as if I’m abandoning you, but I hope you understand.

And I also hope that you’ll be here waiting for me when I get back!

Jag håller på att återupptäcka U2. Har inte lyssnat på dem sedan How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Tyckte den var ojämn och stundtals ointressant. Inte heller den senaste, No Line on The Horizon, fick igång mig. Alldeles för pompös och bombastisk. Där det brukade finnas befriande rymd hittade jag en jämntjock massa av instängdhet. Jag fick inte plats längre.

Jag har alltid känt mig delaktig i deras musik. Känt en närhet. Jag har varit DÄR, mitt ibland dem med mina egna känslor och referenser. Jag har känt mig välkommen och accepterad.

Men på senare tid har jag känt mig utanför. De har ställt sig i ett rum som jag får betrakta genom ett fönster. Jag får höra, se, men inte vara med.

Det hela ledde till att jag inte lyssnade på dem alls. Jag gick vidare, försökte hitta ny musik där jag fick plats, där det fanns rum för mig.

När man varit så nära en musik är det vemodigt när man inte känner igen sig i den. Det är som att långsamt inse att man inte har så mycket gemensamt med sina vänner längre. Att man vuxit ifrån varandra. Man träffas mindre och mindre, för att till slut gå skilda vägar.

Men det kanske är meningen att det ska vara så. Relationer behöver vila ibland. Man behöver distans till dem. Man behöver glömma dem lite.

Men så en dag springer man på varandra igen. Och plötsligt är man i samma rum på nytt. Med ny luft. Och man hittar nya sätt att mötas.

Det hände igår. (Och jag tackar randomfunktionen på iTunes för det.) Plötslig sprang jag på One Tree Hill från The Joshua Tree. Den spröda gitarren, basens mantra, sången… Jag var inte beredd. Jag blev överrumplad. Jag såg mig omkring i rummet och kände igen väggarna, lungorna fylldes med frisk och syrerik luft – jag var där igen.

Kanske behövde jag vara i andra rum ett tag, skaffa nya erfarenheter, för att hitta tillbaka.

Jag har varit i samma rum som U2 hela dan. Känt igen mig, sett nya detaljer, men framför allt, varit DÄR. Jag har även lyssnat på de nya albumen, och klivit ett par steg innanför dörren. Jag är inte helt inne i det rummet än. Men det får ta sin tid. Det FÅR ta sin tid.

A série vem vindo bem, apresentando episódios bons, mas a única questão que fica é a perda de identidade de alguns personagens como Millie e Victoria. A mudança das duas foi tão repentina, principalmente da mãe de Brooke que soou um pouco forçado.

Três tramas chamam mais atenção no momento: O estrelismo de Millie, o triângulo amoroso entre Brooke, Julian e Alex e a carreira de Nathan.

Sendo que Nathan ainda está sendo afetado pelo relacionamento de Clay com Quinn, aliás Clay acabou ficando sem as duas coisas nesse episódio já que foi demitido e Quinn até continua com ele, mas não quis ir morar na casa dele. Essa trama está bem interessante, apesar de eu achar que os roteiristas alternam, dando destaque num episódio pra carreira de Nathan e no outro pra de Haley, já eu acho que deveriam caminhar juntos pra haver um desenvolvimento melhor.

Após a suposta mentira de Alex, Julian volta correndo pros braços de Brooke, mas ela não quer saber de papo com ele, ainda mais, e aí vem muito drama, que ela descobre que não pode ter filhos. Estão tornando a Brooke mais sofredora do que não sei o quê, o que é uma pena, já que ela sempre foi a personagem com as tramas mais leves na série, só espero que não a tornem uma pessoa amarga.

Já que além disso tem que lidar com os ataques de estrelismo de Millie, que roubou a cocaína de Alex, mentiu pra Mouth, só que ele descobriu, pediu 500 mil dólares pra ser modelo da grife da Brooke e depois que foi presa foi correndo pedir ajuda a amiga. Se a personagem já foi uma das mais queridas hoje em dia está insuportável.

E Victoria? Ela está de volta, só que cada vez menos bitch, parece que vive bêbada e atrás de um amante. O outro pai da trama que também não presta, Dan, teve uma atitude um tanto quanto exagerada em relação a Clay, mas que parece que serviu pra acordá-lo e botá-lo no seu devido lugar e correr atrás de melhorias pra Nathan.

Every time I come home for a weekend or for break, my OnDemand channel always let me catch up on older episodes of The OC. As I was watching two eps. from the second season today while eating breakfast, I started to wonder why The OC was so successful. I loved the show. Many people enjoyed it, but why was this show any different? Why is The OC more recognized than One Tree Hill or Smallville? These are the reasons I have come up with:

- The show was well liked by both males and females

- The show produced GREAT music. Indie rock at its best.

- You liked all of the main characters (Ryan, Marissa, Seth, and Summer)

- Newport Harbor High was way better than your highschool ever was

- It introduced new vocabulary to your every day life like Christmakah, stealth, brooding, etc. We all know that you never used to say that until The OC came along!

- Death Cab For Cutie performed on an episode

- It brought to light a new kind of humor

- They always rotated new characters in to create more excitement, but when you got tired of them, their exit timing was appropriate.

- They dressed well!

- You always knew in the end the Summer and Seth would end up together and Ryan and Marissa …sort of

- The OC lasted four strong seasons – well maybe 3 cause Marissa died.

- Catchy theme song – Phantom Planet’s California

- The OC launched the careers of all of the actors and actresses

- The OC really stands for “THE Orange County,” making it sound 10x more epic

You’ll notice some of my picks overlapped with my Top 10 Saddest Moments list because, well, let’s face it–death is about the saddest thing someone can experience.

But what I really tried to focus on here was the jaw-dropping aspect, which is why the overlapping scenes aren’t in the same order as my previous list. For instance, I think Jen’s death was more devastating (read: sad) than Marissa’s, but Marissa’s was more jaw-dropping (read: shocking).

Ever since the White Collar pilot, we’ve found that the everyday eps of this USA series have been a smidgen flimsier than we’d like, but the midseason finale on Dec. 4 is the sharp and snappy standard we’d like to see from the show. What happens? Well, Neal (Matthew Bomer) is finally confronted with a criminal nemesis worthy of his talents, Elizabeth Burke’s (Tiffani Thiessen) presence on the show starts to make sense, and there is a huge (huge!) reveal about Agent Burke (Tim McKay) that involves something pretty important from Neal’s past.

In memory of last week’s loss of the one and only Jackie Taylor, I thought the next few days should be reserved for revisiting other shocking deaths in the teen drama genre.

Some of these death scenes were shocking because they came out of nowhere.

Others blew us away simply because of who it was that died.

In other cases, it was the pure tragedy that chilled us to our bones.

This week, we pay tribute.

You’ve probably already seen one or more things that have been filmed in Wilmington. Known as “Wilmywood,” it is one of the largest motion picture and television production studios in the United States, outside of Hollywood, CA.

Some of the stuff that has been filmed here: One Tree Hill, Dawson’s Creek, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Part I and Part II), Domestic Disturbance, Nights in Rodanthe, Sleeping With The Enemy, Lolita, Cape Fear, Firestarter, Blue Velvet and Surface.

One Tree Hill is an American  television drama about teens and young adults, which premiered on September 23, 2003 on The WB Television Network. The show is set in fictional town of Tree Hill in North Carolina and originally follows the lives of two half-brothers.

The show’s interiors are filmed at the EUE/Screen Gems studios in Wilmington, North Carolina and exteriors are filmed in and around Wilmington.

Fans have written messages all over the bleachers at the small Battleship Park.

The Battleship NORTH CAROLINA Memorial is a preserved World War II vessel serving as her state’s World War II memorial and a museum interpreting the history of all ships named NORTH CAROLINA.

Conforme estamos chegando quase na metade da temporada (me precipitei?), algumas tramas que foram nos apresentadas no episódio passado, começam a ganhar forma, além de resgatar outras que pareciam há tempos esquecidas.

A chegada de Dan e Rachel a Tree Hill promete mexer com a vida de bastante gente na cidade, e já começamos com Rachel tentando se recompor do passado, quando roubou Brooke para comprar drogas e foi ótimo Brooke ter lhe dado um tapa, enquanto que Dan volta a procurar Nathan, para tentar se reaproximar. Achei estranho eles deixarem claro que notaram que Dan está bem, e penso se a forma dele conseguir o coração será abordada pelos outros personagens.

Brooke parece estar vivendo um inferno astral, seu relacionamento com Julian entra em crise, quando ele vai ajudar Alex e ela feliz porque poderia estar grávida tomou um balde de água fria com a notícia, e ainda tem que lidar com a volta de Rachel e com Millie, que está cada vez mais parecida com Alex, e inclusive roubou sua cocaína. O que provocou um grande problema entre Alex e Julian, que se sentiu enganado e provavelmente fará a garota voltar para o fundo do poço.

Ainda tivemos o show de Haley no Tric, voltando aos palcos após um bom tempo e fazendo sucesso. E Nathan perdendo o contrato no basquete.

Não foi um episódio marcante, mas marcou a boa regularidade que essa temporada vem tendo.
