I am surprised to find an email from Paypal today, stating that I have just made payment online this morning. In truth it has been more than a year since I last used Paypal. Calling the customer service of Paypal is a very brain draining standard operating procedure. And you need passcode which generated online and lasts for 60 minutes. The staff on the phone does not ask much questions. The answer is they will investigate and wait for their reply by email. That’s it? Maybe I am expecting too much.

This is not the first something like this happens to me. 2 years ago something similar too happened. Paypal, I am losing faith in you.

All programming right on the iPad, you no need a PC to handle your code. JUST drag the code (like scratch developed by MIT), edit the parameter (like “colour”, “length”), then “play” or test it right on your iPad.

NO PC or Mac and no installation – better than other game programming software or apps. Of course, it just in beta stage of Hopscotch, the function is in small number. But, the idea is great!

Lately I’ve heard a lot of stories about several separate instances when iPhones or iPads were recovered because of their “Find my iPhone” feature. I have the same installed on my iPhone and iPad, and I’ve explored its capabilities, but luckily I have not personally needed to use it. But stories I’ve heard of stolen iPhones recovered because of this were really great to hear. There was even one story that the gadget was recovered a month after, and it was found with someone who already purchased the stolen phone.

Seeing a lot of online security in place is really great too. I know of a lot of yahoo mail accounts hacked all the time, and I’ve noticed how poorly they have their security and spam filters in place. Several friends and colleagues have had problems with their yahoo accounts, sometimes even to the point of not being able to access their account again.

I am very happy with my gmail, which I’ve been using perhaps for almost a decade. They really have good spam filters and security in place. Just today, it asked me to verify my mobile account, supposedly so that it can prompt me just in case there are suspicious activities on my account. Also, did you know that you can check the details of all your login activity for the account? They are able to track and report which gadgets and browsers you have used, which area (country) the access was done, and when.

Facebook security is good too. They have security measures in place that send alerts to your email when your account is accessed through a new device, or if your password has been entered incorrectly several times. Alerts are a good way of providing security. I’ve seen this on several online services I’ve tried, and it is really useful because you are made aware immediately if there is a possible security breach in your account, and it may be possible to do something about it at once.

Have you noticed that a lot of online services are now requiring stronger passwords with a combination of numbers, and letters in both uppercase and lowercase? This is important because this proposed combination makes it more difficult for (ro)bots to try and decode your passwords, because this increases the number of possible combinations perhaps a hundred thousand times (not sure about the actual number right now, so don’t quote me on this). It’s challenging though to have several different passwords for our so many different accounts online. It’s also a little bit insecure to have a list of these passwords somewhere (because of the risk that someone might find it). My personal solution to this challenge is to have a “family” or “families” of passwords, which are interrelated. They are usually sentences or phrases, sometimes revolving around some themes. This is helpful because even if you forget your actual password, you only have a small personal collection of possible combinations based on these. Don’t make your themes too obvious though for people who know you.

One more thing on passwords. Make sure that your computer password/s are far different from all your other passwords online. This is just my personal take, and the reason behind this is because there may be instances when you will need to have someone else (a friend, family member, or relative) access your device and you have to give the password. At least you will have the confidence to give your password without revealing all other passwords in your digital life. Actually for me, my sister knows my personal laptop and desktop login passwords, I trust her and she can access it anytime. My password for my work laptop is different, and I am ready to share this to colleagues if needed (e.g. if I am on leave and they need to get important files from my device).

It is good to know, be aware of, and be familiar with these different online and digital security measures so that we can protect our valuable accounts, information, and property.

Of course, we don’t to print out the Photo book at  school. But , we can use it in learning activities. Student use this apps to organize their work , record with their voice, add video to express complex ideas. All books can deliver to each other and view right on the apps or view online. Here is the description about this function.

Creators of books can easily give their photo e-books to others of their choosing using Pholium’s cloud server and a WiFi connection. Once a book is completed and “published” to the user’s Library, they may give their e-books by entering the recipients’ email addresses. The book is uploaded to the Apple iCloud or Dropbox servers and the recipients are automatically sent an email or push notification (to those recipients who already have Pholium on their iPad) that a book is being given to them. Recipients that do not have an iPad or Pholium, will receive a link to download an online web viewer of the book.

ClipPick let you copy the text, image, links etc form your mobile device to your desktop computer. Once you installed the apps(Mobile device) and software(PC/Mac). It will do the job behind the system in 10 minutes. You can set up at “Launch when system initiates ” on your PC. Then when you copy(let says hold your finger to copy some text)on your mobile device, you can paste the “text” by right-click the mouse on your PC in any software! This service/APPS/Software support PC/MAC to mobile, mobile to PC/MAC, mobile to mobile….

In your head you start to try and imagine what it would feel like if it were you, or worse, someone you know who had been sitting next to the bomb. But it wasn’t. It was the people you’re now seeing splashed across television screens, their lives unraveling as Diane Sawyer comments on her appreciation for the Boston accent. This isn’t meant to sound crass, I know that Diane Sawyer has good intentions and like the rest of us aches for the victims and their families, but we’ve become so used to broadcasting every aspect of these tragedies that it becomes difficult to understand what we’re really watching. We live in a society where terrorist attacks are given their own Twitter hashtag; I can’t help but think the magnitude of what happened is lost somewhere inbetween a tweet about Justin Beiber and #perksofdatingme.

I am by no means immune to the digital measure of self worth mess; I’ve caught my mood being effected by the number of hearts on Instagram… But when a bomb goes off downtown Boston and we’re immediately plugging it into our smart phone, updating our Twitter, posting a blurb on our blog it struck me that all of those things can be done without actually understanding what happened today.

If we dig deeper, we can see into one of the thousands of images. Carlos Arredondo lost one son in Iraq, and the other to suicide after the fact. When the blasts occurred at the Boston Marathon witnesses said he raced towards the chaos and began helping a young male victim who was suddenly missing the lower half of his body. Mr. Arredondo pinched the man’s artery until help arrived.He along with the other people pictured in the photo can teach us all something about what it means to be a human being.

When I saw the photo as I scrolled down the Yahoo homepage, I couldn’t help but think of what I would do in that situation. I would like to think I would be brave, but then I remember the teens who were teasing the kid sitting by himself at the bus stop this morning and how I didn’t say anything.

The thing is, we’re not all going to be capable of being as brave as someone like Mr. Arredondo all of the time, but we’re capable of starting somewhere. It’s easy to forget how our actions affect other people; how life extends well beyond the web of our own friendships and quarrels and mistakes and number of ‘likes’. We’re not expected to be a hero every day, and thankfully we’re usually not put in situations where we’re given the choice, but something I’ve taken away from today is making an effort to be a better person than I was the day before. Waking up in itself is a gift, when was the last time I realized that?

It can be tough to speak up, to keep your chin up, to not point fingers when something awful occurs…but in spite of everything else, if we all just tried to better ourselves in even the most subtle of ways, we would be working towards shifting from who we were to who we’re capable of being. Hold the door for a stranger, take time to stop and pet the dog that walks by, look people in the eye when you say “thank you”, tell someone they look nice today, send someone a hand-written card, call your parents and tell them how much you love them, volunteer, offer to help, listen to Tommy with a candle burning (you get the idea). Work towards a better tomorrow. I don’t say it enough, but I am truly thankful to have such wonderful people in my life and I am sorry it takes days like today for me to wrap my head around that.

May hearts be with Boston tonight.
