Education is essential for children as well as adults too because this is a key to success. As an illiterate person, you can never get success in life. But in the young age, sometimes we neglect our studies. As a teacher, we have difficulty in managing our rooms which are full of children or adults because they have their unique personality. There are many schools that offer Online Courses. Here I am providing you some tips that may help you in becoming a good Online Teacher.

As a teacher, you should always ready to help others. Students will ask their queries from you and it is your duty to solve their problems.

There will be many students in your class who can not easily understand the lessons. So you have to teach them very patiently and try to solve all their queries.

Another important factor is creativity. If an individual is not creative in terms of teaching, then the students of your class will quickly get bored. So you have to find out new teaching ideas for your students afresh.

As an Online Teacher, you should be able to communicate with others because by good communication skills, teachers and students can understand and help each other.

You should also be flexible to deal with different kinds of personalities.

Reclaiming The Holy Days Seven Ideas for a Grateful Holiday Dinner for the one throwing the Party! R

Reclaiming The Holy Days

Seven Ideas for a Grateful Holiday Dinner for the one throwing the Party!

Reclaiming The Holy Days

Our home is a sacred place that we blessed to share with others. Setting the energy of the home, and the day, and your mood will do “thankful wonders” to the environment, and the experience folks have when they share this day with you.

Here are some simple ideas, which may seem challenging at first because we think folks wont want to do them. Well not everyone will, but some will, and that will be enough. And it is a part of making this day your own. Hopefully one of these ideas will inspire you – or inspire you to make up your own ritual for today.

1. Prayer Bowl:

Enroll one of the younger guests to pass around pens and paper and a prayer bowl and ask folks to write down what that they are grateful for. Later in the evening – burn the prayers together, and either read one another’s or do it quietly.

By having one of the younger generation do it, they feel really important and good to participate and make adults do this, and also adults are less likely to say no to a younger person asking such a sweet thing of them.

2. Gratitude Circle:

Call a circle right before dinner to give thanks. Then let your guests know that at the dinner table you will be having a gratitude conversation, and each person will have a chance to share what they are grateful or thankful for in their lives.

You WILL most likely experience resistance at first, but they will get over it, and instead of talking of football, the kids’ schools and which mattress to buy this year – the table will be filled with love.

3. All My Relations Altar:

Set up an altar in a central place and put up photos of living family and well as family gone before. If you don’t have a photo you can write a list. And most especially write a list of who is coming, with the words, I Am Thankful For: Put out pens and paper and invite folks to participate. Whether they do or don’t they will see it and the spirit of blessing is there in physical form.

If it is not too late for you – you can also send a quick e-mail inviting folks to bring photos or momentos for the altar – or call it a family table if the word altar freaks them out.

4. Four Directions Sacred Environment

Create your environment with a sense of sacred space. Put candles everywhere, even if it is the daytime. Right by the candles float little tiny flowers from the yard or from a store bouquet on bowls of water or in little vases. Then put a feather, or something representing air if you want to. No one else needs to know that this is – but they will see it and it will bless them. This can also in it’s own way, bring awareness to this holiday which for many has a mixed meaning.

Do this if you can right before guests arrive and say a blessing around your home and a prayer to make yourself a wonderful host.

5. Gratitude Creative Space

Set up a table for creative expression. Get out pens, paper, glitter glue, crayons, scissors, hole punch, yarm and construction paper. Make time to start your own before guests arrive – if possible find a wall to hang up the art made that day and make a sign: Gratitude GALLERY and the date, or your family name or something to make it special. Folks will naturally go on over, kids will be happy and it will create a playful thankful experience in your home.

If you don’t have a basket or drawer yet for theses supplies – now is the time. Do not go a week longer without having simple art supplies at your fingertips! Some families have written me that they also photocopy out of my journals and put those out for kids and adults to color!

6. Chocolate’ or Like Water For Chocolate – Contemplative Cookie

Sit down prior to cooking and write out your menu, then choose a theme or love topic for each menu item. Then when you are cooking it, say that prayer or a sentence regarding that essence which you are imparting to the food. Keep a notebook while you are cooking so you can come up with alternate new name and descriptions for the food. Then when you present the food you can tell the story of cooking it. Don’t forget to add chocolate to the gravy – just a little. And roses to some dish as well.

If you have not watched either of the two movies listed above – for a while – do that soon, and they are also good late night movies after dinner and guests are settling down or leaving.

7. Giving Thanks to God, Our Creator and to your family.

If you have a chance, prior to guests arriving or even the day before, get out your journal or computer and write a prayer of thanksgiving. Make a list of 30 things you are grateful for.

During dinner, and afterward, make a point to not be too busy “doing” to not take time to tell each guest how important they are to you – and why and in what way.

During dinner and afterward, don’t be shy to tell folks about why you are thankful to Creator/Life/Universe – share with them, without preaching. In the spirit of giving thanks, they may also be inspired to consider who and what they are thankful for.

You can also set up an alter dedicated to your spiritual path with candles and flower and books to share – depending on where you are with that in terms of feeling comfortable. If you are a person with a spiritual path, don’t feel like you need to shut it down to be appropriate to your guests – BE THAT PATH and that spirit yourself, and your home can and will reflect your faith and the space you create of love will be felt by the faithful and the dissident. Also if you have photo albums of your life – putting them out shares your life in a gentle way that is endlessly fascinating to others.

Blessings to you this Holy Day of Thankfullness, Gratitude, Celebration and Possibiity!

Perhaps most important of all for a truly grateful dinner is CHOOSING WHO YOU ARE GOING TO BE as a HOST – HOW and WHO you want to show up as. Consider your guests arriving, how will you greet them? Consider the folks you usually have tension with, how will you, from the start create that as something different this year?

How can you radiate peace, and not do too much? How will you ask for help and not show that you are stressed? How do you want to be perceived? Often we feel framed in advance by friends and family – as if they already have us figured out. Who cares? You can continue to transform and be who you want to be. A great trick is to choose powerfully, non-reactivity all day long.

Final bit of counsel:

Don’t clean up right after dinner. Clear the plates. Get a big glass of red wine or sparkling juice and sit back and enjoy the fullness of your meal and your guests.

Be grateful. There is SO MUCH to be thankful for. Even amidst the challenges, there is so so so much. By most standards in the world, we are rich beyond belief.

So let us celebrate and truly honor what we have while being mindful of others in our lives and on our planet.

A student should have full knowledge of subject for achieving good marks in the CBSE Board exams. But you should reproduce it on the answer sheet in an efficient manner for earning more good marks. You can make paper to read by good presentation and a perfect order of questions and answers. I am going to provide you some useful tips that may help you in fetching more marks in exams.

When you go through your question paper thoroughly, you should tick mark the questions which you know more efficiently. Attempt such questions first at the beginning of the answer sheet. It will give a great impression on the mind of examiner. Always give your answers in a good handwriting.

One thing is also important to score good marks that you should do highlighting of the question. You should try to provide as much ease as you can that will please the examiner. So you should write the numbers of question and answers in bold letters and highlight them.

Many of us write very lengthy paragraphs but this may irritate the examiner. As an examiner, he has to check a lot of copies. So he has not too much time for reading the paragraphs. So you can make proper points instead of lengthy paragraphs.

Good presentation skills are essential for getting good marks. So try to make diagrams, tables for fetching good marks. Moreover, you can also explain your answers by giving suitable examples.

The roots of my traditional indigenous family lie deep in the lands of the reindeer people, a nomad

The roots of my traditional indigenous family lie deep in the lands of the reindeer people, a nomadic tribe from before written history who cared for the reindeer and in exchange were given their food and clothes and all sustenance from that mighty animal. These people often spent months alone leading their herds to the best grazing lands in the high plateaus of the Himalayas and outer Mongolia.

The principal function of this ancient indigenous shaman is the healing of any illness that may afflict the members of one’s tribe. This shaman not only brought healing to physical maladies but also to illnesses of the soul, in order to heal the fracturing or fragmentation of the mind and spirit to bring wholeness. This shaman had the ability to use altered states of ecstasy produced through sheer will and balance to enter other realms of consciousness not possible for the average man. Here the shaman is able to explore the mystery of man’s mind as well as the collective unconscious mind that we all contribute to and in so doing to bring this knowledge and power into his or her practice to benefit us all.

Traditional Shamanism is based on these spiritual and mental techniques which go back to the very beginning of the human race. besides offering physical healing and the guiding of souls disincarnate, there is a direct communication between this earth and the heaven worlds above that only the most skilled traditional shaman can attain. In ancient times the shaman was the first miracle worker, the first cultural hero, the first of all humans to walk and talk with Creator. The traditional shamans sees the human beings as another manifested form of the Essence of Creator just as nature is a manifested form of the Essence of Creator. Man is meant to live in cooperation with this natural environment in a very close and intimate way as a child of Mother Earth and Father Sky. So another function of the traditional Shaman is to keep the balance between man and Mother Earth so that we continue to be nurtured and supported for eons to come. The Shaman can successfully promote this intimate bond through his or her abilities of communication with all manifested forms of the Essence of Creator. With these abilities the Traditional Shaman helped provide for his or her tribe good hunting, plentiful crops, propitious weather and protection of all species to live and be bountiful. In a way, he negotiated a harmony between the ways of man and the ways of Nature.

The traditional indigenous shaman knew that illnesses and dis-ease of any kind grow out of an imbalance between that person and the natural way. When the energies of a person contradict the ways of Nature then that person’s energy begins to be depleted and this can cause all kinds of mental, emotional and spiritual dis-ease. When a group of people or a community or tribe contradicts the ways of Mother Earth and Father Sky, huge dis-eases and disconnects can occur. It is man who causes the balance to be shattered by mans thoughtless words and actions out of ignorance or lack of responsibility for this home of ours. The traditional shaman is here to bring that imbalance back into balance, to re- establish that lost harmony, and to remove the effects of the negative and selfish thoughts, words and actions created by man. Yes I am saying that it is the thoughtless words and actions of selfish man that have created the diseases that are now manifest on this planet.

Man has let his own ego supersede his interdependence upon Mother Earth for his sustenance and health and has caused tremendous destruction of Mother Earth’s air and water and land. The Shaman sees all living things on Mother Earth as equal in itself to the human being, no less vital, no less important, no less sentient, no less alive. The traditional Shaman sees that Creator has given life to everything that Creator created and so every tree, every mountain, every leaf, every animal, bird , fish is thinking, knowing, feeling, having a life experience here just as man is. This place we call home is a living Mother with energy that surrounds her and is her Essence just as cells are a living part of the human body. If man kills some of those cells he gets sick. So too, if man kills some of the life upon Mother Earth he is killing Mother Earth. And if man kills his own harmony within himself he is killing himself. But the shaman can honor the living sentience of all that Creator created and communicate with these living beings to re-establish that original unity that is necessary to mans very existence.

By working with the sentient energy creations all around us the shaman can directly heal the individual and bring harmony to that person’s own energy. You can see why the traditional Shaman is even more needed today than ever before. Yet there are less than 50 true traditional indigenous shamans left on the planet today. Why? Because the world’s religions have persecuted the traditional shaman and his beliefs that we are all united children of Creator.

Over the centuries, the religions of the world replaced the tribal shaman with a priest or lama or ritual expert who never had the ability or desire to see the world as a union of sentient beings but instead decided to create gods and goddesses to overpower and command and manipulate the sentient beings of this world. And indeed because man intended them to be powerful gods and goddesses they were thus in reality. But here too began disease and poverty and most of all fear. In my country the Shaman were all killed by the religious fanatics who wanted to gain the respect and fear of the people and convert them to Catholicism. It also was timed according to when the Tsar converted to Catholicism. Just as in many countries, when the leader of that country declared a national religion for that country, the shamans were then tortured, deported or killed. Shamanism is not a religion. And in each country if the Shaman was not willing to adopt the religion of that country’s leader, then the shaman was killed.

The first shaman, the archetypal shaman who brought the knowledge of shamanism from the heaven worlds above to an intellectually able humanity on earth was known in the Yung Drung mountain region of central Asia as Shenrab Miwoche which means “the great supreme human shaman” . Tales of his work have survived even to this day and he was considered a fully enlightened Buddha before there was a Buddha or a Buddhist religion. He was said to live here over 18,000 years ago. From here, shamanism grew and spread through Tibet, Mongolia, China, Asia and Europe. It was then carried across the seas to South America and Africa and Australia and can be found in the histories of all 7 continents.

This is the origin of traditional shamanism. However it is no longer available and only vestiges of it can be found in certain families who have kept the oral traditions alive, handing down the teachings by word of mouth from father to son or mother to daughter within the original family over the centuries as my own family has done. My grandmother escaped the persecution of Shamans in her country by coming to America. All traces of traditional shamanism in her country are now wiped out, even among her relatives who lived under communist rule for the past fifty years. There is no more traditional Shamanism alive in her mother country now. There is no more traditional Shamanism alive and true in any European or Asian country because the religious fanatics of various ages have seen to it that Shamanism does not survive. Now we only have a very few traditional Shamans still practicing the true ways who have managed to hide from or escape from the missionaries of assorted religions out to convert all people or kill anyone who will not convert. Many of the old shamans did indeed convert to a religion. The Shamanism of Hawaii, for example was converted to Christianity when the missionaries demanded conversion there in the 1850’s and the rulers of that land agreed to have Christianity as their country’s religion. The kahunas there had to convert to the country’s religion and now the teachings of Kahuna are warped and distorted with all kinds of religious inflections and Christian wrappings.

Even centuries ago the original traditional teachings of Shamanism in Asia were quickly distorted by the Buddhist religion who would not tolerate a Shaman offering balance and healing and instead persecuted the Shamans and told the people that only the Lamas would have the power to heal by following the Buddhist faith. And even so long ago man began to fall into imbalance with Mother Earth and Father Sky and so dis-ease and suffering took hold of mankind. The Native Americans never practiced Shamanism but rather had medicine men and women who had that wonderful connection to Mother Earth and could bring balance through the ways of air, fire, water and earth to their people. But again in the 1700’s the missionaries came and offered them Christianity as a religion or death. So the medicine people who survived did choose religion and altered their ways to fit in with what they were being taught by the missionaries. So much was lost and will never again be found. The ways of today barely contain even the slightest semblance of what medicine used to be. The effectiveness of the ways as they are today is barely nothing at all.

Because of the persecution of the Traditional Shaman we have been left with contemporary shamanism; reduced to seek healing through hypnosis, trying to convince ourselves that we are not sick when we very obviously are sick. We have reduced the powers of the contemporary Shaman to simple faith healing, hocus pocus, chanting and drumming and calling the traditional shamanic journey a variation of simple astral projection which anyone can do. Traditional shamanism has been all but lost to the people of the Earth and if you just look around at the conditions of Mother Earth today you can see that there are apparently no contemporary shamans able to do anything about the imbalance and suffering and dis–ease we see everywhere around us. Yet there are thousand of people calling themselves shamans today. I call them contemporary shamans because they are not trained by any traditional shaman, they are learning from books not written by any shaman, they are not balanced themselves , not healed themselves but still they claim they can heal others which speaks of personal fame and gain but not of healing at all. The word Shaman has literally been denigrated to mean someone who does faith healing and uses his or her imagination to pretend to travel to inner worlds. How sad! And you wonder why those few true Traditional Shamans are not to be found here? I don’t think you would choose to be associated with a group of people who misuse your name to make money and be famous either.

Those few true shamans who have been able to receive the original teachings from their own family lineage are busy helping their own people in their own tribe, hidden away from the internet and society at large as there is enough to take care of right in their own community. They are not interested in teaching anyone other than their own clan. They are not interested in becoming rich or famous. They choose to not get involved in the game of Shamanism that is being played on the internet today. If everyone on the internet who claimed to be a shaman was actually a Shaman there would not be anyone left who was sick at all.

The traditional abilities of Shamans, to enter into altered states of consciousness without chemicals or drugs or plants and to communicate and negotiate with the spirits of all sentient beings to bring balance and harmony back into a person’s life or mind or body or even a community or nation as a whole is not something very many people can ever hope to achieve. The Shaman actually leaves this world and enters the gateways of other worlds. The whole body of knowledge to promote balance and fix the distortions created by man’s thoughts, words and actions is not in any book today. It can only be learned as one Traditional Shaman passes it on to his or her students. And to find a traditional Shaman to work with today is nearly impossible. The Traditional Shaman knows that even today this power to affect cures and balance the bodes of a suffering human being are still not welcome by religion or the current medical community. The True Shaman is still under persecution and so is not going to put you in danger by teaching you something so hated that you too will be persecuted. Most Traditional Shamans feel that the people of today are not yet ready to receive these teachings. So they only teach their own tribal members, perhaps a son or grandson or a daughter or granddaughter, enough to keep the teachings alive but by no means teaching it to the general public. Don’t kid yourself that the teachings of true traditional shamanism are easy to find and easy to learn.

Vestiges of the original teachings of Traditional Shamanism can sometimes be seen in the writing of ancient religions as they incorporated parts of Traditional shamanism that suited their purposes and also to entice the indigenous peoples to embrace their religion just as the Catholic missionaries built churches over the holy grounds of the Native Americans and chose their holy days to coincide with the seasonal celebrations of those indigenous peoples. Over time the native Americans would hopefully forget their “pagan” ways and pray instead to the saints and attend Mass to replace the ceremonies of their forefathers. The chod ritual of the Tibetan religion where the monk uses drumming and visualization to ceremonially offer his gods the flesh of his own body can be seen as the death, burial and resurrection of the more ancient shamanic initiations and is another example of traditional teachings still surviving within the cover of religion today. How odd isn’t’ it that even today there are ancient rituals and rites and practices that recall Traditional Shamanism. What does that say about the power of the traditional Shaman?

So traditional shamanism is about living in a balanced cooperative relationship with all sentient beings of Mother Earth and Father Sky as well as all our brothers and sisters. And hopefully, for those who have the immense privilege of learning traditional Shamanism from one of the very few traditional indigenous shamans left on this planet, we can once again grow into harmony within ourselves and create a congruous, balanced, beautiful planet once again. The Traditional Shaman negotiates a harmony between the ways of man and the ways of nature and energy. This is Traditional Shamanism. It’s not about money or fame or power or title or accolade.
our group is just finishing up, not our first, but our largest online course to date in terms of num

our group is just finishing up, not our first, but our largest online course to date in terms of number of ’students’ and amount of content. i’m doing my best to reflect not only on the ways in which we can improve the content and functionality of the course itself, but also what i have learned from the experience. here is what i’ve come up with…

books are judged by their covers – aesthetics are important when it comes to online classes. sure, everyone wants a course that is easy to navigate and that works (more on that in a moment), but people also want something that is nice to look at; something that is welcoming when they navigate their browsers to the course. i imagine all the different emotions that teachers are feeling when they log on and wonder what impact the first thing they see has on them. something to consider.

sometime a fix isn’t good enough – while 99% of the people who are tech saavy will roll with the punches, so to speak, when it comes to problem solving links or media that don’t work the way they should, there will be times that a patch is not enough. i certainly see the viewpoint of wanting a course to work the way it should, but i don’t see the viewpoint of not accepting a workable solution. perhaps the term ‘workable’ is just too subjective.

online activities are limited if you are interested in harvesting grades – there are SO MANY great things to do online but if a grade is required, then the list tends to shrink considerably. is this true in the classroom as well? when teachers fixate on graded work do they discount other possibilities?

tone matters – emails can turn in to bear traps if you’re not careful. the tone you convey to a teacher who may be experiencing difficulty can be pivotal. it is amazing what a little bit of goodwill and professional courtesy will earn you.

i’m sure there’s more, but this is all that is coming to mind at the moment. have you learned anything from your online courses?

I have heard
that there are some
who do not condone others being wonderful.
Have you ever felt…not seen?I have heard that sometimes,
we do not want others to shine.
Don’t listen to those who are light dimmers.
Beware of those who think being small
is somehow being appropriate.
It is not always appropriate to be appropriate.
Have you ever felt
not quite yourself around some folks?
Why is it that
to be wonderful
is not supported by everyone?
Do you ever feel like your being a success,
or just being happy
appears to be threatening to others?
Even those who love you. (And they really do)

I have even heard
the words: “healthy competition”
to explain meanness or pettiness amongst us.
I don’t buy it.
I think it is only when we feel small ourselves
that we have a need to make others feel not so tall.

What if we sought to lift one another up?
What if our way of being included
truly wanting to help others shine?
How do you think that would feel?
What if our culture was based on
leading legendary lives and
encouraging others to do the same?
I am not speaking of pride, or self importance.
I am speaking about living a life where
to be wonderful
is encouraged.
Supported. Called forth.
What if you could
be as wonderful as you feel like being?
Be as big as you want to be,
be as bright as a shining star,
and what if you did not
have to apologize for being blessed?

That would feel good.
The Holy One of All Creation
has endowed us each with
unimaginable beauty of one kind or another.
So we cannot allow others to tell us it isn’t so.
Sometimes we spend a lifetime
learning “I am enough.”
But we already are—
someone tried to tell us we were not.
It is a lie.
We are more than enough.
To be wonderful isn’t something just for special people
because each of us is special.

Times are not so easy right now.

Even if things are okay with you,

they may not be okay with your neighbor,

and so being wonderful might seem, well…

outrageous. And it is.

But I say, if you can be wonderful,

if you can have whole wonder-filled moments,

or hours, or days,

PLEASE! Do it! For all of our sakes.

Shine your bright light my sisters and brothers!

To be wonderful
is a combination of choosing
to let your light shine
and nurturing that light in it’s natural cycle

of waxing and waning.
It is nice if someone sees it—and even says something
like, “My! How nicely you glow.”
But if they don’t,
the Holy One sees it.
And you can see it. If you choose to.
And for what it is worth,

I think
You Are Wonderful.

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.

Instead she puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.” – Jesus

Whether you just want to improve your own skills or you are looking to update a team of people all at once, then computer based training could help you retrain or stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and information. CBT or computer based training helps people in all walks of life train for new qualifications and update their skills.

When looking into computer based training options there are several avenues you could explore. A single user might just want a simple CD-ROM or DVD course with a Single User Licence. To train more than one person, on the other hand, or have the training course available repeatedly from a public computer, there are other options available using DVD, CD-ROM or online.

There are two types of Multi-User Licence available: a Site Licence or a Networkable Licence.
A Site Licence means that you can add the CBT to your media library and it can be accessed from one site by multiple users. If you are not intending to have a set training program but would like the course to be available to people as and when they like, this would be the option for you. Only one user may access the course at a time, though, and it cannot be linked up to a LAN (local area network). Although some options that are available with the single-user licence would not be available with this one, the training would still be to the same high standard.

If you would prefer to train several people at once, a Networkable Licence would be a better choice for your needs. This option means that the course can be used by several people across an LAN, a perfect idea if you want to train many people at the same time with the least hassle.

Another possibility, eliminating the issues of DVDs and CD-ROMs, which can get lost or broken, is to access the CBT courses online; in many cases this is also cheaper than buying a DVD training course. Online courses can be accessed twenty-four hours a day, so there are no time limitations and there are still Multi-User Licences available for this type of CBT.

Online training is offered via a subscription method. This means you can sign up to access the training courses, or an entire library of online courses for a set amount of time, six months or a year are usual subscription lengths, although it might be possible to obtain a monthly subscription for certain courses.

To find out more about what CBT courses are available you could have a look at www.cvision.co.uk, which has a large range of different computer based training possibilities available from Microsoft certifications like the MCITP qualification to training for Adobe CS4.

Casual labour leads to a lack of professionalism. I work in the IT sector. I have crucial ski

Casual labour leads to a lack of professionalism. I work in the IT sector. I have crucial skills that could help the local college go online with successful courses that teach and are accountable for the learning. I have about 10 years experience as an e-learning specialist. Until last year the college was my employer for a few years. While employed there I mentioned that we were developing courses with poor instructional design and it seems I was ignored. I even provided my employer with a series of documents to help the distance education department function smoother but these documents were never used. Recently, my boss had asked me to place a course online exactly as it appeared in the accompanying manual. This is a major faut pas and I told him that I couldn’t do this because it went against my training. My boss told me that I had to take one for the team.

Do one course, get it right and then, when the funding is in place, develop more courses. This is a good rule of thumb for developing anything. The college simply wants as many courses as possible without worrying about something minor like the measure of learning slowing them down.

Students taking these courses aren’t being assessed properly. The courses are designed for classroom or distance education courses (mail) but not for online education courses. The myriad of broken links and weak objectives, along with untrained people (for online) running the department is hurting the French students taking these courses. These courses are mainly for childcare and nursing courses. If these courses were offered in the private sector they would wash out. There is no uniformity in the size of the text. Sometimes there is page upon page of scrolling text; this causes eyestrain and frustration with online learners. There is very little, if any, use of the collaborative tools to encourage peer interaction in the courses.

I worked for the college for about five years in a casual role. I’ve always offered recommendations on these and many other topics. I kept a record of broken links that were part of the training manuals that were used in the learning environment. I’ve used tricks of the trade to reduce scrolling text. I’ve been told that I do beautiful work and that I was precise, fast and professional. I still have my references from my previous supervisor with words to that effect. But the one time that I mention that I have a problem with doing something so basically wrong that I couldn’t bring myself to do it, I was wiped from the team. You can only shore-up a broken ship for so long before it sinks.

Apart from the lack of financial security (which was never that secure), I feel that I was let down. My boss doesn’t need to be bothered with problems; I understand that. The team, the one I was supposed to take one for, doesn’t even know that it is providing broken and ineffective online training. Ten years of working with online courses and I get dismissed by someone with next to no training in the area.

Online learning has to use specific learning and teaching strategies to account for the lack of human contact. Objectives have to be reworked to make them measurable and effective. I have a couple of textbooks and over 3000 documents on this topic alone.

Had I have been in the private sector my employer would have at least acknowledged my skills. Each time I went back to the college I was hopeful that my skills were being noticed and all the extra work that I put into developing the extra documents to help my employer would show them my loyalty and dedication to the cause of getting the college on the map.

Working as a casual for the college allowed them to treat me as though I had no rights. As it turns out, I didn’t have any. Casual workers are considered non-status employees. The secretary for our department joined the meeting with my supervisor and she echoed my supervisor’s sentiments. “Yeah, just do it like the book.” I’m not sure what area of training she has but I don’t think she is trained at online education. Talk about non-status employee! Trumped by the secretary, dang!

So to you ccnb-campbellton and the distance education department I am resigned to use this medium to regretfully say to you that I feel, in my professional opinion, the team is wrong. The government monies that you spend are subject to scrutiny (or should be) and I hope that this article directs some attention to the content you are plastering on the web. I use the word content to point out that without the proper use of teaching and learning strategies for the online delivery there is no course, merely content.

I hope attention is drawn to the team so that the college can start offering quality courses that are accountable for the desired outcome of learning. Teaching is not learning.

Quantity is not quality. You may be able to dismiss me but I hope you can no longer dismiss the multiple courses and programs you are putting on the web with total disregard for anything other than profit. Forcing someone to quit for professional ethics is a sad way to end things and I hope that this will help the department to start acting a little more ethically and a little more professionally. As for the tentative online students thinking about ccnb online courses, I’d shop around before committing to this campus. Try NBCC Miramichi, they have a great distance education program; they trained me.

December 12th, 2009 at 6:30pm: The Electric Rose Gallery, Healdsburg’s inspiration based art gallery, will be holding a special celebration in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe called the LOVE CAFE. We are featuring over ten Northern California women artists with images of lovers, Madonnas, mermaids, Saints, divas, horses, hearts, hand crafted jewels and hand-sewn quilts.

Our theme for the evening, Love Café, conjures images of Paris and San Francisco cafes, where the artists and poets and musicians gather to discuss the nature of the universe over steaming cups of coffee and tea and bites of chocolate cake and bits of poetry. We will also have a Red Thread Ceremony for setting your intentions for your 2010.

Write a prayer on our Gratitude Altar, create an art piece in our creative sanctuary, and enjoy good conversation with friends and family. We will be serving Quesadillas and Salsa, Rich Chocolate Cake, and Organic Coffee and Tea. Music is provided by Fari Sheilds.

The vision of Electric Rose is to provide art and experiences of INSPIRATION, REVELATION and CELEBRATION. The evening’s hosts, Dori Etter, Ali Weiss and the Bond Sisters will be here to welcome you! Also this weekend, there is a painting as sacred practice workshop called the Awakened Heart offered by Shiloh Sophia McCloud, one of the primary artists and gallery owners.

Some of our featured artists, who you will be able to meet and appreciate include: Sofia Harrison, Laura Pope, Sue Hoya Sellars, Shiloh Sophia McCloud, Chelsea Bond, Elizabeth Gibbons, Caron McCloud, Dori Etter, Alise Sheehan, Patti Valentine, Lynn Bond, Laura Delanty, The Powell Girls, Cowgirl Junkies, Susan Miron and More! Also represented are wonderful holiday gifts like Russian Eggs, Mexican Milagros and hand-made Wish Nests.

Interview With Your Visionary Self – A 20 Minute Seven Step Creative Practice

© 2009 Shiloh Sophia McCloud www.shilohsophia.com

The visionary self is really just you wearing your visionary lenses. It is you when you look deeply into your life and your heart with an intention to SEE beyond what is just “there” into what is possible. I believe all of us are visionaries and that we just need practice “being” visionary as it relates to our own life. So here is a little 20 Minute Breakthrough Practice to activate your visionary self!

The reason why this is a “breakthrough” is because by articulating your vision in your mind and heart, and then in writing – you shorten the distance between you and your vision considerably because you are taking time to “touch” the vision. You are connecting right and left brain and letting the universe know – I am making contact with my vision. It sends out a visionary signal, saying, THIS VISIONARY is dreaming today! We can learn to tend our visionary self, and love it and listen to the inner promptings. If we just did that – our whole life would be lived very differently. So listen carefully to what comes up from within you when you do this practice. The reason I say 20 minutes because it really doesn’t have to take that long as long as you don’t over-monitor yourself or call in the perfectionist! Just move through quickly and easily, write what comes to mind without editing. Then if and when you are inspired you can always do it again and refine it, and of course, put it into action, which is what makes the difference in the lives of all visionaries, putting our dreams into actions. Blessings dear visionary!

Materials: 1 piece of 8.5X11 paper. One writing tool.

INTERVIEW with YOUR VISIONARY SELF

1. Fold paper in four and print your name and the date at the top with the title: Visionary Self Interview

2. With one word in each section write the following: WHO WHAT WHERE WHEN.

At the bottom write: WHY

3. Close your eyes and take a peaceful bountiful breath and imagine your cells smiling

4. Choose to see an ideal day for your visionary self as if it is a moving picture in your mind.

5. Make a mental note of who you are in this vision. Note what you are wearing. Where are you? Who are you with? What are you doing? What is important to you? What is surprising you?

6. Open your eyes and answer the following questions in each section.

In your vision:

WHO

who are you being?

WHAT

what are you doing?

WHERE

where is it taking place?

WHEN

when is it happening?

WHY

why are you doing it?

The why is the MOST IMPORTANT part – because if you don’t know WHY you are doing something – then it is hard for the vision to be fueled. The WHY is what drives the actions, gives you the reason.

The why is the dream….your purpose…your calling.

7. Give thanks. And choose when you are going to take action – and what that action looks like. It might be to refine the practice you just did. Then embellish this paper with dots and swirls and stars and hearts and wings and doodles to bring completion to your Visionary Self Interview. And sign, your name.

This Visionary Self Interview is JUST the kind of thing which builds a dream. One step at a time we draw nearer and nearer that which is dear and important to us. The most important question of all though is:

Why not be visionary?

I just shared this practice last night at East West books in Mountain View with 28 guests. It was WONDERFUL to see how moved folks were by contacting their vision, last night I called it an Intention Interview but I changed the title today. We were there presenting on Heart of the Visionary, A Workbook for Women’s work, which is a book for women in business we published last year.

If you are inspired to share, write a comment on this blog (not on FB).

Applied psychology is the practical form of general psychology. It uses the concepts of general psychology to untangle the problems that agitate the human mind and keep people from accomplishing their daily tasks successfully. Applied psychology works closely to penetrate the dark areas of the mind to get a grip on the core of the problem. Professionals, who are experts in the field of applied psychology, use therapeutic methods to deal with or cure the patients of rehabilitative, psychiatric or mental diseases with an approach towards their reasoning.

Other areas where applied psychology has been incorporated so as to deal with various complex issues are the fields of education, forensic science, law, organizational, industrial, sports etc. Let’s talk about some of these fields and the role of applied psychology in them.

Education

Applied psychology has been inculcated into the educational fields to know the different processes that the human brain uses to learn something. Its concepts and theories are immensely used in changing or improving teaching techniques, cognitive science and behavioral science are dedicated subjects that have been sprouted up from these amazingly useful theories and concepts.

Forensic sciences

The field of forensic sciences have greatly benefitted from the vast ambit of applied psychology. Forensic psychology, as it is called, uses some methods and applications to analyze the activities of an individual.

Law

Legal issues are being analyzed and solved with the help of psychological principles. With the advancements in all the sectors of the world, new techniques are being incorporated into the study of the human mind and behaviors. Theories emerging from these are being taught in legal studies.

Learn the five secrets of innovation

This article on CNN.com reports on the results of a six-year study of more than 3,000 executives and 500 innovative entrepreneurs by professors from Harvard Business School, Insead and Brigham Young University.

The researchers were quoted in an article published in the December 2009 Harvard Business Review as having identified five skills that separate truly innovative businesspeople from their less-creative peers: associating, questioning, observing, experimenting and discovering.

One of the men behind the study, Insead’s Hal Gregersen, told CNN, “What the innovators have in common is that they can put together ideas and information in unique combinations that nobody else has quite put together before.”

Gregersen noted that it wasn’t just thinking differently that made the innovators innovative.

“The way they act is to observe actively, like an anthropologist, and they talk to incredibly diverse people with different world views, who can challenge their assumptions,” Gregersen told CNN.

“For them, everything is to be experimented upon — for example, if they walk into a bookstore and they’re used to reading history they might try psychology. All these behaviors are powerfully enhanced by a capacity to ask provocative, challenging questions of the world around them.”

He also notes that creative achievers, by and large, become that way through practice, not primarily by virtue of their raw talent.

“Studies have shown that creativity is close to 80 percent learned and acquired,” he told CNN. “We found that it’s like exercising your muscles — if you engage in the actions you build the skills.”

Overall, this article confirms observations that artists and entrepreneurs have been making for years. As a bonus, the piece also provides some practical tips for cultivating the five skills.

New Class: Explore your creativity in 2010

If you liked Julia Cameron’s book “The Artist’s Way” and want to work with another book articulating Cameron’s beliefs about creativity, Quinn McDonald, a Phoenix-based creativity coach and arts teacher, is starting an online reading group in January that will examine Cameron’s 2003 book, “Walking in this World.”

The class starts on January 12 and, according to McDonald, the group will cover one chapter each week—doing the exercises at the end of each chapter, discussing the results and each member’s creative progress over time. The class is $30 (a screaming bargain for a 12-week class!) and $10 of the fee will be donated to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund, a charity committed to supporting the careers of craft artists throughout the United States.

This is an opportunity to start the year fresh with a new book and a new outlook on your creative process. McDonald is a warm, witty woman, a fantastic writer, artist and creativity coach, and just a lot of fun to be around, even if it’s just electronically. Plus, her class fee is reasonable and supports a great cause. What’s not to like?

The Score: Advice to Young Composers

This link leads to a wonderful essay written by composer Annie Gosfield on the Opinionator Blog at NYTimes.com. Gosfield, who has been known throughout her career for composing music often inspired by “non-musical” sounds, was recently interviewed by a fellow musician about her work, and found herself taken aback by the question “do you have any advice for younger musicians?”

“The question took me by surprise — wasn’t I a young composer, too? When did I make the transition to not-so-young composer? Every day I have moments when I feel like a young composer: I struggle with starting projects, experiment with unfamiliar techniques, and deal with interpersonal challenges. There are so many times when I feel like I lack a manual in my day-to-day life. How do I find the time to compose and still take care of all of the boring administrative tasks? What’s the best approach to take with a temperamental musician? … Truth is, if I had the answers to all of the questions, my life would be a lot less interesting. Looking for the answers and keeping an open mind is what keeps it exciting.”

She outlines a couple of wonderful points for younger musicians—or any creative person, really—that can help them “hover between being a greenhorn and seasoned old hand.”

“Always consider yourself a young composer. Throughout your life as a composer there will always be more to learn, more to explore, and more to write.

“Take your work seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously. Once you’ve recovered from the grand aesthetic statement you just made, make sure your music is actually playable. And, hopefully, readable. A sense of humor will help you get through difficult times, and could help deflect the fact that the pianist might have to grow a few extra fingers to play that epiphanal earth-shattering chord that you refuse to change…

“Details count. …Although your ultimate goal may be something that sounds fast and dirty, there is almost always room for improvement as you refine your sounds, your scores, or your techniques.

“Be willing to put yourself and your music on the line. If you don’t believe in your music, nobody else will.”

Gosfield’s piece is a triumph. It’s practical, funny and wise, all at the same time. It deserves to be shared widely.

There is no denying to the fact that online learning means learning at comfort and convenience. Learning online does not mean hanging around most of the time and cramming lessons on the eve of exams. Pursuing a course online entails a significant amount of study on daily basis. So, incorporate it into your day-to-day routine to handle the course load with ease and efficiency. To get ready with the entire syllabus of an online course, it is of the essence to have a grip on time management techniques.

First of all, sketch an outline of your online study requirements and save a chunk out of twenty four hours to meet the requirements. Manage your time to go through the lessons, entertain yourself and carry out family responsibilities simultaneously. Make a must-to-do list and keep track of work assignments with an eye to completing the syllabus in or on time. Keep a check on time-wasting daily activities to ensure successful completion of online learning tasks, projects and assignments on time.

Instructors of some educational institutes do not remain available online round the clock. They remain online at specific times of the day to solve your queries and answer your questions. So, make sure to communicate with them at the given time. Make some pre-hand preparations like listing your queries, writing down your questions and sorting out the lessons that you could not make out. By means of this technique, you can make the most of the time allotted to you while interacting with the online instructor.

The application of these simple strategies can help you manage your time to pursue the online course at mental ease.

Persons no doubt can enjoy flexibility of time and freedom of pace while pursuing a course via the internet. Online learning does not involve the pressure and stress of regular study programs. It allows one to study at one’s own convenience. However, learning online is an experience of comfort only when learners possess some specific skills. Knowledge of computer operating tactics is a must have for them. Having a personal computer with internet access eases the process of learning online at home.

Speeding the pace up is the key to maintaining a rhythm between several activities. If you lack the basic knowledge of how to operate computer, how to surf the internet, how to browse websites, how to download materials, how to participate in forums, how to interact online and how to manage emails, you are a slow online learner. With a grip on these fundamental computer and internet skills, you can pursue an online course with no additional assistance.

Through the application of web-based learning skills, you can cover the syllabus within the deadline and take the exams on time. Or else, the slow pace of learning can exert pressure and stress on you. Participating in online activities like e-mailing, chatting and social networking is a new age way to interact with other learners. You should develop a multi-tasking skill to go as an eligible online learner. Computer knowledge, time management and agility are the qualities to help you complete an online study course successfully. In a nutshell, you are required to be self driven and self directed.

Prof. Dale B. Martin has a good sense of humor and is very easy to follow.

Corporations who have opened franchises in their organization may find themselves having difficultie

Corporations who have opened franchises in their organization may find themselves having difficulties making sure that their franchise owners are running a successful business operation and that sufficient training is being delivered to their employees. Poorly ran or disorganized franchises could potentially taint the brand name of the company to their consumers. Franchise training is an essential element in creating continuity within the corporation, but some business owners may wonder what the best way to implement training in the workplace would be.

A simple solution has been created with the online training that will put the worries of business owners to rest. Online franchise training is an easy way to deliver training to employees without costing the company a fortune with the help of the Learning Management System and its compliant platform that facilitates easy use. This initiative will further help create and maintain standard rules and regulations corporate wide to fit in with the business model. With courses that are fully customizable to the organization, online training also offers valuable tools to help measure and assess effectiveness of the training material.

Taking time out for training or finding a way for everyone to participate in training can be difficult, however, online franchise training has managed to create an easy way to distribute curriculum to employees whether it be directly to their workspace or at home. Old training material such as pamphlets, rule books and old training videos can be out dated, inefficient, and costly to keep updating. Online franchise training has created a cost-effective means that enables organizations to continually update their material without costly fees to ensure their employees are getting the proper training.

Franchise training was created not just with employees in mind, but the franchise owners as well. Everyone needs guidance and direction, and with these online courses, material to help prepare and better organize, will help owners run a successful franchise.

With technology always changing and advancing, an easy way to create updated series of courses is very much needed. Online franchise training allows for organizations to do just that ensuring that employees receive proper training. As a result the corporation can rest assure that this initiative will aid in creating and maintaining a unified business and brand reputation.

With so many tasks and steps involved when starting and running a new business, many times franchise training is put on the back burner until they have time to get around to it. However, at that point, damage may have already been done. Training should be viewed as laying the foundation for a successful business as rules and regulations are set and objectives are expressed. In doing so, the desired outcome and reputation will be within reach.
