Your cards Betting in Poker means you wager that, at showdown, your hand will be ranked the highest.

Your cards Betting in Poker means you wager that, at showdown, your hand will be ranked the highest. Unless you believe that to be a likely possibility, you should not bet. Statistically, in a ten-handed game, you will only have the highest hand 10% of the time. Knowing when it is your time to have the best hand is of course the difficulty. When you have a strong hand, bet aggressively and force the other players to chase you. It is rarely correct to slow-play; that is, not bet a strong hand. If you don’t have a strong hand, fold. In Poker, money saved is the same as money won, and staying out of the 90% of the hands you are destined to lose is as important as being in the hands you win.
Your position is an extremely important factor in Hold’em since it is a fixed-position game. When you are in an early position (close to the blind) you have no way of knowing how large the pot will be at the end of a betting round, and how many players will be contesting it. To compensate for this disadvantage, you need to play stronger cards than you would from later positions.

The number of players contesting a pot determines the kinds of hands that are playable. The irony is that you can play weaker starting cards when many players contest the pot, but you must have a stronger final hand at showdown. A high pair is a strong favorite to win against one or two opponents, but if ten players enter the hand, someone is likely to beat a high pair with a flush or a straight. Conversely, drawing hands (weak initial cards that may give you a flush or straight) are playable agairist a large field since the final pot will be large, but drawing hands are seldom worth playing for small pots against one or two players.

Pot odds are the costs of staying in the hand compared to the pot size. In each betting round, you decide if the amount of money it will cost you to finish the round is worth the size of the pot being contested. The cost to play can range from nothing (if everyone checks) to three large bets (if there is a lot of raising late in the game). Like any sound investment decision, riskier plays must have greater rewards for success.

Opponents’ playing styles. During the hands that you don’t enter, observe the playing style of each player and of the group as a whole. Does a certain player only bet when he has good cards or does he bet with anything? Does a player buy-in for a small amount of money and carefully guard it, or does she buy new chips from the dealer frequently? For the table as a whole, are showdowns frequent or rare? A big mistake beginning Poker players make is playing only their cards and not considering how other people are playing theirs. Your opponents’ actions are a source of information that must be used.

Many table internet Poker game.Online Poker on Multi-tabling. Playing simultaneously at several tabl

Many table internet Poker game.
Online Poker on Multi-tabling.

Playing simultaneously at several tables is called multi-tabling in the Poker jargon. If you have multiple tables open, always the one where it’s your turn is brought into the forefront.

Playing at multiple tables is an event, it is not a specific skill or strategy. There are no changes in the game or its rules, instead, the only difference is the number of concurrent games requiring your attention. But whether it is meaningful, who draws the best interests of the multi-introduced and what do you remember who?

No time for weak hands

Although it is often stressed that only very experienced players should play at multiple tables at once, it must be objected that especially the amateur player can get a big advantage through multi-tablin7.

Who e.g. Poker has four tables open, could only focus on the hands to play, and multi-player table that can not even think about playing in the hands of the average. You no longer have patience you have to deal with trouble, only one table to play. Help is readily available. With four tables, it’s much more likely to get good cards at least at one of the tables. You’ll no longer be so tempted to try to draw through any psychological games. Ideally you have a sufficiently large screen with adequate resolution, so all tables can be nicely arranged. Most Poker rooms also offer a mini-view, which is a scaled-down table view, that makes multi-tabling much easier. Morphsinto a Poker machine player, plays his hands right out of the textbook. He has done Poker homework, already, Assuming. This game must be the best choice players – only! And of course all in the same limit, so no table is “better” than another.

Accelerated unlocking of an online Poker bonus

It sometimes takes a long time to unlock a bonus. Of course, multi-table players reduce this time when they play at multiple tables. Table 4 refers to four times the number of hands. To unlock a bonus it’s very convenient, of course, but it should not be the only reason to play multi-tablin7. As a pleasant side-effect, it may be ragarded.

Risk of online Poker Multi-Tabling

The only downside to multi-table is that another player could have a close look if his opponent is active at other tables. Eagerly, this seems to happen only rarely. Many players are normally not that much interested about other opponents, also to their table too. Nevertheless, it needs to be pointed out that the playing style of multi-table players is sometimes predictable. The play is like a text book for a multi-table player, as already said. The multi-table player automatically presses the fold button here, and the other player taking advantage of this, bluffs him of his act

Online Poker on Multi-tabling.

Multi-author online poker is called to play a few tables at the same time to submit more in poker terminology. It is possible to play poker concurrently at 2 to 12 tables at a Poker room. It makes sense that One who plays in multi-tabling gets the maximum benefit, which one has to keep in mind

No time for weak hands

Although it is often stressed that only very experienced players should play at multiple tables at once, it must be objected that especially the amateur player can get a big advantage through multi-tablinGo to the (g) part of the passage

Who is e?g. has four Poker tables open, can only focus on the playable hands, as a multi-table player you cannot even consider playing mediocre hands. You also don’t have to bother with patience anymore that you’d have to deal with when playing at just one table. You’ll no longer be so tempted to try to draw through any psychological games. Ideally, the first one that you have enough large enough screen, so all tables can be a good arrangement. Most of the poker room also provides a little think this is a small table look, so that multiple submission much easier. Research has shown that the optimal number of tables to be successful is four.

More tables, more hands, more profit

Who is a good player at one table, will be a good player at multiple tables. Morphsinto a Poker machine player, plays his hands right out of the textbook. He has done Poker homework, already, Assuming. It is striking that good players who win in the long run, are all multi-table players.

The identical game is played, regardless of the site. Nothing is worse than a table with let’s say Sit-and-Go, a second table with Cash Game NL $ 3 / $ 6, a third with Cash Limit $ 5 / $ 10 and the fourth with a big tournament going. Prevent an optimal match by this kind of constant rethinking. The skill levels and players are random at each table, so do not waste time or energy searching for a favorite table.

Rapid starting of the internet Poker Bonus

They in times take a long time to open a reward. Of course, multi-table players reduce this time when they play at multiple tables. To unlock a bonus it’s very convenient, of course, but it should not be the only reason to play multi-tablin7. Eagerly, this seems to happen only rarely. Many players are normally not that much interested about other opponents, also to their table too. However, be pointed out that a number of players playing style sheet can sometimes be predicted. The play is like a text book for a multi-table player, as already said. Another player could take advantage of this and simply bluff him, because he knows that the multi-table player here will automatically press the fold button.

Online Poker tips from Jack Spade to help your game!

If I haven’t before, let’s just make this crystal clear now: it’s not the cards that count, it’s knowing the mind of the player. Yes, there are exceptions to that. But in the end it’s not the cards that separate the true winning players from losers, it’s because they know how to play against the players.
As always, if you want more online poker tips, you can always visit here. I’m going to tell you multiple methods I’ve learned over the years that can screw with your opponent’s heads and coax them into making a lot more bad plays than they would have otherwise.

· Online Poker tips: Knowing What a Regular is Thinking
Why? Because hopefully you’re a decent player yourself, and you know how to play in certain situations and because of this will know regulars will often be thinking the same way.
Online Poker tips example hand:

Hero (out of position): A10
Villain (in position): Unknown
Flop: 10-10-2
Now, what does the regular (aka villain) expect you to do if you really had a 10? He would expect you to check to him and try to slow play it. Well, here’s what I almost always do in this situation: instantly bet pot. There’s a good chance he’s going to raise you here since he’s in position. You instantly call.
If you instantly call, it’s going to be interpreted more as you having a medium/low pocket pair.
Turn: 5
Remember you’re acting first, what do you do on a turn like this? Bet about 75/80% of the pot. I’ve often found instantly checking the turn in this kind of situation isn’t as effective as they’ll often check behind trying to see a free river.
Instantly call again.
The river card is often tough in this kind of hand. Don’t check, because the regular will almost always end up checking behind you. Betting 70-80% usually doesn’t work, because unless he’s tilting against you he’s unlikely to push on the river when bluffing.
Either he’s going to raise you for a final attempt at the bluff, he’ll call and turn over a small/medium pocket pair or perhaps a high pocket pair, or he’ll just fold. But as you can tell, there’s a better chance you’ll make some extra cash by making the above play on the river card. How do I know this for a fact?

On recent news we found out that it has been officially announced that the UIGEA has been delayed for six months. The US Treasury and Federal Reserve let the news out today and the new implementation date for the Internet gambling ban is now June 1st, 2010.

The Treasury and the Federal Government issued a joint statement saying that “the Dec. 1 implementation date for the law passed in 2006 would not be achievable for some financial institutions.”
“Commentators expressed concern that the act and the final regulation do not provide a clear definition of ‘unlawful Internet gambling,’ which is central to compliance,” the two agencies said.

It was also revealed that some members of Congress would like to consider legislation so that some problematic aspects of the UIGEA could be addressed.

The UIGEA was passed in 2006 and it caused a massive loss of revenue for some European gambling sites as they withdrew from the US market. It is important to acknowledge that the UIGEA does not ban online gambling but it bans all financial institutions and banks from processing transactions with online gambling operators.

However, the bill is not clear enough and some of the guidelines are blurry, and financial insitutions have also stated that it would be close to impossible to keep the kind of control that the Government wants them to keep.

During the following 6 months there will be a lot of groups trying to outrule the UIGEA and try to tax and regulate online gambling.

Mivel Magyarországon is rohamosan nő azoknak a száma, akik rendszeresen pókereznek.

A második helyezett ír Emmet Gough €65.000-val lett gazdagabb.

Online poker in Portugal faces a difficult situation. The Portuguese government has given a few licenses for operating online gambling sites in the country, but all have gone to the Games Department of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), which runs a state monopoly over all lotteries and sports betting in the country. No other internet gambling sites are allowed to operate in the country, and the Portuguese government has forced local ISPs to block many foreign sites so that players cannot use them.

Portuguese online poker still thrives in spite of the bans. The two largest poker tournaments in the country are run by major international online poker sites, and both run online qualifier satellites. Many players who compete in these satellites are foreign themselves, but there are still many Portuguese players who find ways to play online poker. Read more…

Finally it seems that the US Federal Government is taking a real step in delaying the effect of the online casino ban. Letters from 19 Congressmen, PPA representatives, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association have flooded the US Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve asking the authorities to delay the December 1st date.

Newsweek has stated that a source inside the Federal Government said that no decision has been made. While everyone in the online gambling world takes indecision as something positive it seems that the Government is really analyzing the effects the ban would have and how effective it really is. We hope to see a short term postponement so that the decision made will be what is best for everyone.

The UIGEA regulation has showed that it has some leaks and flaws and some unpredicted side effects. Prood to that is that State lotteries in North Dakota and New Hampshire have had online money transfers blocked as illegal gambling, even though they are legal and excluded from the UIGEA effects.

Keep your fingers crossed for positive results as the deadline approaches.

Dutch online poker does not share the same fame as table poker because it is very difficult to find a legal online poker games in the Netherlands. Online gambling is legal at Dutch internet sites, but the government has yet to give out any licenses. Last year Holland Casino, which controls all casinos in the country, applied for a license to operate online, but the Dutch senate shut them down.

The only other option players have is to play online poker at foreign sites. There are many internet poker rooms that accept players from the Netherlands, but the Dutch government tries very actively to prevent people from using foreign online poker sites. They have even given Dutch banks a blacklist of online gambling companies that they cannot deal with. The EU is pressuring the Dutch government to change their policy, but in the meantime, Dutch online poker is not so easy to come by. Read more…

One game has just concluded and the flop for the next comes up. Whoa! You get a strange sense of deja vu. The flop is the same as the last flop. These things are supposed to be random. How can it happen twice in a row? Something must be up. But in fact such things happen so commonly that you shouldn’t even take note of them.

A mistaken calculation

What is the chance to get a particular flop twice in a row? First just ignore the card ordering and consider all the possible flop combinations. The order of the cards doesn’t interest us since all the cards are flopped at once. There are 22100 combinations of 3 cards from a deck of 52. The chance to get one particular combination is thus 1 in 22100. So that chance to get it twice in a row is 22100 * 21100, or about 1 in 500 million.

Even given the volume of online play that is a rare event. Except that an error has been made in the calculation. An honest mistake that many people may not immediately see.

The solved question has been restated as “the chance to get a particular flop twice in a row” which is actually quite different from “a flop being the same as the one before”. There is no particular starting flop in the desired calculation; any flop will do. Thus to duplicate any particular flop has merely a 1 in 22100 chance.

That still seems rare

While a 1 in 22100 chance seems unlikely still, it is by no means in the category of rare events. In the brick and mortar world hands aren’t dealt so fast, but in an online world a player can easily push through 50 hands even on a slow table.

A professional multi-table player online could easily put in 16k hands a week.

A modest hobby player who puts in only 10 hours a week will end up seeing some 2000 hands in a month. After a year they will have put in over 24000 hands. We can reasonably expect that such a player will have seen this duplicate flop occurrence at least once in a year. Consider now a slightly more dedicated player putting in 2 hours a day and playing 4 tables simultaneously. At the lower rate of 50 hands per hand per table they will be getting in well over 100k hands per year. They can expect to see a duplicate flop about 5 times in the year.

It actually becomes even more likely for a multi-table player. They would reasonable consider any duplicate flops on any of their tables to be a match. That means for a four table player, on any flop there are not just 1 in 22100, but a 3 in 22100 chance that another table matches. Add to this that the player may consider the following flop on any of those tables as well, which now means a 7 in 22100 chance. So in the year this multi-table player can expect to see the duplicate flop about 35 times, or almost once a week.

Far too common to even notice

Thousands of players ensure uncommon things happen often.

Despite the numbers an individual player may do a double take and make a comment about their duplicate flop. It doesn’t mean anybody else will take notice however. As shown above even the modest player will see it often enough not to care. Consider further that popular online poker rooms can easily reach 20000 players. With this volume of players, even if they are all only playing a single table, the duplicate flop will happen to somebody about 50 times an hour, so almost once every minute.

At these volumes of play even the impossible becomes common. Instead of flops which have the same cards, what about the flops where the order of the cards is identical as well. Two flops with the exact same cards in the same order will surely get a comment from a player. With the order kept, there are still only 132k different possible flops. So again with those 20k players playing 50 hands an hour, this will happen about 8 times an hour.

An even more unlikely case is a player receiving the same pocket cards and flop two times in a row. This has only a 1 in 26 million chance of occurring. For an individual player this is truly rare indeed. Though here again, with a million hands being played online every hour this rarity occurs about once a day.

The final lesson here is that seemingly rare events happen quite frequently given the number of active players. Such information can be used to quell one’s fears that the system is cheating or has a serious defect. This is no to say there aren’t truly rare events that do infrequently happen. To brag about those one should do a few quick calculations first, lest they celebrate the mundane.

OMG!! I Finally finished watching the final table of the 2009 WSOP. First the DVR didn’t record it properly then it was other stuff then it was more stuff and then… So now that we are into the circuit events again I had better get caught up here. So thanks for being patient. Oh yeah I did get a blogging offer from Cake but it wasn’t what I was looking for so Im still here as The Guy in Seat 4!! In any event here is the Pokerdog283 recap of the final table action!!

Great introductions for all players but I will get right to the action as I did a play by play before the tournament aired!!

Akenhead vs Shaffel (That other guy) Schaffell had the best of it with the AK to Akenheads KQ. Akenhead in need of a Q he magically hits the Q and suddenly starts acting like a British Gangster, I was kind of embarrassed??

Saouts J2 then J2 flop catch for 2 pair made me throw up it was so sick to watch on TV!!

Neat little featurette on Moon with his Cabin Get away maybe from now on the November 9 will forget the poker lessons and go hunt bears or something!!

Nice hand between Cada and Shulman where Cada’s AJ loses to Shulman’s AK taking Cada to below 3 million!!
Note watching Shulmans training clips Diego Cordovez is a Card Player Superstar!!

Beglighter vs Saout. Great read untill Saout turns a flush then I just felt Bad!!

Ivey and Moon Big Hand Ivey Chants were deafening!!! Moon hits( like it was a surprise) And the Hero is out!! I did see that despite earlier reports Moon and Ivey shake hands.

Absolute suckout ,kick to the groin was the Cada/Shulman 33 vs JJ with Cada all in hits a 3 on the flop to the cheers of Team Suckout!!
By the way when did Joe Cada go with Full Tilt?? Was his UB hat not enough?? Or was Moon the only person that didn’t sell out?? Shulman didn’t sell out he is already big time!!

Cada versus Saout AK/88 of Saouts a sick miracle King for Cada and Saout is at Macaren airport looking for his airfrance ticket!

Moon and Cada HU!!

Vince Neil doing the intro??? WTF was Ralph Mouth from Happy Days busy??
Some big hands ending with Cadas 99 dominating Moons QJ diamonds and a shiny new bracelet for Cada and both win alot of Cash!!

Of Course this is only one Dogs opinion!

Velvetdeck.com style is best expressed as Playboy meets Phil Ivey because of the smooth curves of our models and poker room combined with aggressiveness that you would find in Phil Ivey. As a cherry on top we will also have a very lucrative affiliate program so even if you dont like the idea of playing free poker, competing for cash playing risk free poker, meeting guys, meeting girls, networking, escaping reality for a few minutes then ten of your friends do and because you are getting this info before they are you can refer them to us and make 20% of every dollar they ever spend. How do you like them apples?

The Velvet Deck Experience

Velvet Deck was founded by three entrepreneurs who were frustrated with the unrealistic game play at multi-player online games sites. At most of these sites, players don’t play competitively because there’s no incentive to win and there’s nothing at stake. At sites where there is an incentive to win, such as gambling sites, players can lose a lot of money. Velvet Deck’s pre patented business model was developed to encourage people to play competitively to win prizes without requiring them to risk losing money. The only cost to customers is one low monthly fee and to maintain the level of skill that other subscription sites lack we only allow our Highroller Club Members access to win cash in our online poker rooms.

Velvet Deck plans to apply its unique approach to many types of online multi-player games, enabling players to “Win Big without the Risk”. Velvet Deck’s launch is in the next month and they are offering Free entry into their first $10,000 no limit hold em poker tournament to kick off with the rollout of www.velvetdeck.com, soon to be the highest paying US Legal onnline poker venue adding features and attractions that no other online poker site offers. With the incredible rise in the popularity of poker, and Velvet Deck’s unique approach, www.velvetdeck.com has already attracted thousands of pre registered customers.

The company is funded by several prominent investors including but not limited to its founders and they are based out of Las Vegas.

The Anti-Gambling Site

Velvet Deck is committed to responsible game-play and is not a gambling site. Because we do not offer gambling, we make it impossible for players to lose money, but still provide an exciting and entertaining experience through multiple avenues of entertainment. Our goal is to maintain the thrill of online games while keeping it safe for everyone. We will be partnering with agencies, groups and associations to help promote safe and responsible game play, and to provide a conduit to assistance for those with gambling addictions. We will also be supporting soldiers and charities through special monthly tournaments where we will match tournament winnings to chosen organizations.

We look forward to bringing you more Velvet Deck products that allow you to “win big without the risk”.

Well it’s been a while! The main reason I haven’t posted for some time is that I’ve been playing tons of poker I think I set a goal of 50k hands for this month and I’ve cruised past that already, I’m up to 63k with nine days to go in the month. Essentially I’ve settled on ten tables, and I’m using TableNinja for FT which is making life a lot easier. That said in gross terms I am still slightly behind for the month, down about $85. But with rakeack I’m up about $400, so essentially I have turned into the rakeback pro! It would be nice to actually make some profit purely on the cards however. It’s kind of frustrating in this regard. Although I am obviously going to lose some bb/100 by ten tabling, I have been working quite hard on my game. I’m watching a few videos … going through some of Ed Miller’s series at the moment. I’ve incorporated some improved plays into my game … 3 betting more and also stealing a lot against limpers. Overall the single biggest problem has been I have been losing some big all in pots with big pairs … perhaps I play these too strongly. But still, the only way is up, and even breakeven poker with this sort of volume is going to bring in some nice extra spending money with the rakeback!

All in all I’m having a great time. Will update for the end November results!

Joe Cada is the recent, and youngest, winner of the WSOP main even bracelet! He is also, in my humble opinion, probably one of the most “prime time” marketed poker players I’ve ever seen! He’s everywhere I look!

This exposure is just what online poker needs to revitalize and legitimize the industry. I’m optimistically excited, as I think (from what I’ve seen so far) that we’ve got the perfect storm for a second poker boom and perhaps even a bill to regulate our favorite pastime nationally.
