I am a girl. I like girls.

I just participated in a survey about, and for, LGBT-persons. One of the questions was about how “happy” I am with my sexual orientation. The longest post on my blog so far, but I think it’s worth reading.

“Would you prefer to have another sexual orientation?” Maybe.

When I fell in love with a girl for the first time I wasn’t happy (It’s not like I hated it, but it would have been a lot easier if she was a he). So maybe it would have been better to be straight. But now, I wouldn’t change my girlfriend for anything in the world!

I was 14 years old. I fell in love with a girl in my class. She still doesn’t know. It was the first time I thought about the chance of being lesbian (I don’t like to use this kind of “definitions”, but my English isn’t good enough to avoid it). I know that I have felt something for girls before this, but not like I was in love or anything. I told some friends about it online, but no one that lived close to me or my school. I decided to tell the girl that I liked girls, but not that I liked her. The first time I tried for real; I was too afraid to say “I like girls”, I don’t think she understood what I was trying to say. And when I tried again some weeks later she didn’t have any problems with it. I was really relieved!

When I was 15 I finished high school. I went to Sjøbygda (sjobygda.no) at a Photo/Poetry camp for a week. I met so many new people! The people I met changed me. You can be whoever you like; you can do whatever you like.

I started college in August, and turned 16 right after this. My goal was to be me. If someone asked, I would tell that I liked girls. That didn’t happen. No one asked = no need to answer. So I didn’t tell anyone. That was until November, I was on a trip to Oslo. I had made an account on a site called “Gaysir” (Norwegian online community for LGBT-persons). I knew that a guy in the class was gay, so I found him on Gaysir. I also knew that if I visited his profile he would see that I had been there. But I did it anyway. My new life, right? He found me and sent a message; he also told Åshild that he found me there. I was terrified that someone in class would get to know this. What if they had told everybody when I was away? What would happen after the weekend then?

Åshild doesn’t say things like “I like girls.” and “I like you”. So she said “I kind of have the same… uhm… problem as you. If you catch my goat.”. And then she started talking about this goat and her old English teacher. I was confused. I had to talk to someone, so I told the girl I was in love with when I was 14. She had the same thoughts as me, Åshild had to like girls.

That I talked to someone about this led to some problems. But I’m not going to write all of that. At least not now.

But finally after some weeks (or months) we started hanging out. 19^th of July 2011 we were a couple. But that doesn’t mean that everything was okay. We had been dating since April, but no one knew, except for a friend of my. (I can tell about this friend later!). Anyway.

No boring days.

In August school started again. We were together. No one knew, except for my grandma, Åshilds’ cousin and two of my friends. We were holding hands, but felt like we had to hide from everybody, like we had done for half a year already. After some weeks at school we told a friend in our class about us, her and me, being girlfriend and girlfriend. Actually, it wasn’t like we told her “We’re together”, she told us that she didn’t like that we were together all the time, and we told her. Nothing in life is easy. This sure wasn’t! She was so jealous, I do not know if she was, but it seemed like that. We tried our best the keep her as a friend. I went out for lunch with her and we talked, and she said this; “It would have been better if one of you were a guy.”, enough about that. After two months or so she quit our class and started in another school. Haven’t talked to her since her last day at our school. But on top of all of this we told our parents about us.

I January 2012 we were ready to tell everybody about ourselves. Nothing is true before it’s on Facebook. I don’t get a lot of likes and comments on Facebook, but that day I did. Everybody knew about us, everybody congratulated. Of all of these people knowing about it there’s only two persons that haven’t been too happy about it. One thinks it’s great now, the other one, I don’t care.

Sometimes it would have been easier to be straight. But tomorrow I have had 1 year and 7 months with my girlfriend. I wouldn’t change it.

I woke up around 06:15 today. It was really cold outside today. (Of course it has been colder before. Like the day when my water was freezing in the bottle,  even though it didn’t stand still). My hands was so cold,  and the jacket was cold. But after a while the sun woke up, and it got warmer. Can’t wait for the spring to come!

This dog was at the bus today. It was huge! The woman who owned him didn’t care about what the dog was doing. She was sitting there with her phone, sending texts and checking her make up. The dog was cute anyway.

When we got home from school my girlfriend made cupcakes!  Marmor cake with cookie dough with chocolate at the top! Yummy!

Tomorrow the winter breaks starts. Unfortunately I don’t get to work, because they don’t need me. I guess I will work on the audition for the school I want to apply for. The first part of the audition is some exercises I have to do at home. Will try to do that. And of course I will be blogging. Thinking about a post about my girlfriend and me, and people reactions to our relationship.

The started around 05:59. I woke up and went to the toilet. I found some clothes and put them on. I tried to get my girlfriend out of bed. And I told her that if she was awake, she would get a cup of tea. Then I made some breakfast. She made the food we were going to eat at school. Then we went for the bus, 06:43. And so on. In second class today we had our chosen subjects, which I have chosen to be sound. Last week we recorded some instruments in stereo. Today I drew the different types of stereo techniques we used.

We are also working on this film project. We are making a post-modern film. So when Norwegian class was over (14:30) today. We used three more hours in Final Cut Pro, editing our own movie.

I will tell more about my school some other day!

After school (17:45) my girlfriend took me for dinner. We went to a place called “Ostehuset” (The Cheese house). That was really nice. She ate a pasta with chicken and tiger sauce.  I ate a vegetarian sandwich with vegetables, pesto and mozzarella. (I’m not a vegetarian, but I like pesto and mozzarella.)

As you can see there are some “Goals to reach” in the header. Goals I hope to reach sooner or later in my life. I will be making a mark as soon as I finish some of it. No time limit.

I think I’ll start with some kind of 10 or 15 or 30 days challenge. Just to get starting on this blogging. I just have to find one first.
