opensuse.org provides a online build service for Linux users such that they can build their own rpms without having a Linux build environment.

openSUSE Build Service

I would make use of the hello-2.1.1.tar.gz and hello-2.1.1.spec in openSUSE – Build a rpm package.

1. Register an account

2. Create your home project

3. Add Build Repositories for your build

• I dun know why the hello-2.1.1 can only be built in Fedora Linux. You can add as many as repositories you want.

4. Click Add Package under the Packages column

5. Add the hello-2.1.1.tar.gz and hello-2.1.1.spec to the package

• Please note that your .spec file maybe corrupted if you edit it in notepad. Run dos2unix on the spec file on Linux and upload it again.

6. The build will start automatically where there is build environment available

7. Your rpm is built or u can refer to the build log in case if there is build error

Done =)

Been really unproductive today.. well.. sometimes one needs to relax :p … my father has finally bought his new TV *sight* (finally .. cause he’s been searching for 3 years).. and… it’s partially broken.. the right speaker won’t work… the luck of my family.. every device we buy is broken

Have also been testing out ReactOS again today with the aim to get Allevo running under it but ROS crashed after installing VMWare drivers before I could get to download Qt :p

Would like to see support for openSUSE build service first… didn’t get it yet how to build an appropriate spec file.. will have to look into that topic again

School also keeps me busy.. maths exam next week and multiple project reviews

Ok, the commmunity bonding period has been ended now, and the official coding has been started, yesterday I was not able to do any useful coding and I doubt I will not be ble to do anything useful for this whole week. I don’t mean that I will not do any thing, but it will be much less then I thought I will be doing, and that is because of the worst power conditions here. Its around 12-14 hours of load shading everyday and I need to arrange a power generator this week. So this week much of my time will be spent in arranging the generator and then doing proper wiring with the help of electrition for it.

As far as my current project status is, I have been styuding the OBS webclient and frontend code. Although I was able to run it on my openSUSE 10.2 Desktop, I am able to follow the flow of login process, how the authorize action works in ApplicationController class. I am still working on basic_auth action of ApplicaitonController class which is used for authentication when we have ichain_mode set to off. Also the register action is still above my head because of ActiveXML which I haven’t studied yet which I will be doing in this week.

Now I need some directions form Andreas Bauer about the above 2 actions so I understand the above mentioned actions. So for now I have to email Cornelius Schumacher (my mentor) for this weeks report, I am already late on this as I comitted it on every Monday. I am also behind my schedule but I think I will catch up on the speed when I will overcome the power problem this week.

So, to summarize in the end I will be starting actual coding and playing with openID from next week, this week I will spent my time on getting more deep into the OBS frontend and webclient code, arrange generator, finish my previous tasks like the proxy server in my university which need some configuration from me.
